1. When i had the problem a few years back i struggled with it for days... Was close to just formatting and reinstalling when i found something called ComboFix. I have no idea where exactly i found it, some googling my help, but it forced the stuff out of my PC. I think it's pretty risky to use though, but it may help if nothing else will.

ERP lies in the same vein as a porn movie or a dirty novel, i have no idea why it would lessen your grip on reality any more than the news reporting a carbomb like it's an every day thing and then reporting a nippleslip as the end of the world. To everyone his own i say.

Not to mention that some fantasies are hard to put into RL practice - Or can you honestly say that you never ever wondered how Lois Lane and Clark Kent made love?

Hello New Forum

It's kinda bugged.... I have to log in constantly >_<

At least it looks better, and we're on the same forums as the US now?
4. They have done this the last 2 times aswell. Indeed a very bad idea to turn it off during primetime, but hey, it's not like they're actually going to listen and put it back to ending on monday morning.
5. EVE has offered quite a bit more over it's life when compared to CoX, and they dont use paid expansions either.

Even WoW offers a lot more with it's patches, although theyre admittedly a lot slower to release.

Fact is that if the devs don't offer something far mroe substantial than they have since issue 9, CoX is going to change quite a lot. First, the EU servers will go down/merged with US servers (aswell as US server merges), since too many people will migrate to CO and DCU. After that it's only a matter of time before half the devs get fired and they're actually unable to update the game properly, which is where it will start dying off untill the plug is pulled late 2010/early 2011, if not sooner.

I really want this game to survive and grow. But that won't happen if the devs are happy with making no real updates at all, aside from minute content updates and handing the actual work over to the players, with the MA. I get the feeling they got WAY too confident with MA being the saving grace of this game.
6. Graphics upgrade.... Or at least, a proper overhaul of all the zones and character customizations. Make hero zones look much more organic and "real" like the villain zones, and overhaul the costumes so that the textures and options released with the original game look as good as the recently released ones.

Or just upgrade properly and blow Crysis out of the water >_>
7. GW sold 6 million units over 4 years. That's the total amount of boxes sold - IE: accounts activated. It has a big appeal in that it is "free", or being perceived as such.

Personally i don't count it as being an MMO at all, since the world where actual gameplay happens is instanced and capped at 8 players (or 48 in the largest PVP arenas, of which there are still only 2 i believe). It's much more like Diablo 2 than Everquest. That said, it's relatively easy to get into, it looks nice, and it's got a great word-of-mouth advertising going, even if just for the "free" thing.

Now, remember that CoX might only have 130k active accounts.... That is in no way the same as sold boxes, which is the number cited for Guild Wars. I bought the original Guild Wars CE, but i've only played for a month and never looked back. It still counts as a unit sold, even though that was 4 years ago - But i'm not playin it.

Given the average retention rate for mmo's (around 6 months) i'd say there are somewhere in between 700,000 to 1,000,000 units sold for CoX in total. It's still a lot less than Guild Wars, but it puts the numbers into a proper perspective.

For that matter, i'd estimate that there's around 25 million units sold in total for WoW, or thereabouts, given 9m active accounts (currently) plus the average retention rate taken over 4 years during it's growth. It may even be more, but that's pure speculation, i just know a lot more people that quit the game than people who are still playing it.

could be, but remember her head's at an angle, so the glasses are foreshortened - you're seeing the centre of the glasses (across the nose) pushed forward and added to the frame around the lenses.

Galactic glasses are already almost half-spheres though, so wouldn't that even it out? Sort of my brain going in weird angles i guess ><

AWESOME!

*huggles*

Small detail though, it looks like her glasses are a little spread out? Looks a little weird when compared to galactic glasses ingame: Link

And, just because i'm nitpicking doesn't mean i'm any less thankful for your work and gifts
10. Elegy looks really freaky. I mean, really cool :>
11. Just for the curious ones.... Could you post a list of the requests? Just so we can see if/whether/when they're coming :P
12. Some items also simply can't be put against them, like Tall Wood shelf, and a host of others. It's not just a height issue.

Graphics Upgrade

EVE however had to have it's engine redone quite a bit - The people running the "classic" EVE are also running the new engine, actually. Just with less fluff.

CoH however "only" has to add some shaders and new models and textures, if i understood the dev comment right "that the engine can do so much more". It's comparable, in that EVE had more programming and less direct content, but CoH has more direct content and less programming to do to upgrade.
14. All the wall details, including the veteran items, cannot be placed against the south and west base walls. One unit always remains in between the item and the wall, as if the item stays floating in mid air, inches from the wall.

This problem also affects some normal items when rotated in a certain way. Try placing "Tall Wood Shelf" in various rotations against the south and west wall to see what i mean.

This makes base editing pretty damn annoying to say the least...

Graphics Upgrade

People are underestimating a side effect of overhauling the graphics properly - Being able to market the game "as new" again. Old players get a tasty treat, and a proper influx of players, due to the game being "new" again.

If the marketing people play their cards right with a new box release aswell, i think this could easily double the amount of players, especially if they time it right around the CO/DCUO releases.

Graphics Upgrade

EVE Online did a big graphics upgrade some time ago. So people with new pc's can use the new graphics, however, people with old pc's can still use the old graphics. They are also still supported, and will be in the future.

This is possible because it's just the graphics. Everything related to the game is exactly the same on both engines (though it's actually the same engine, just one uses dx9, and the other only uses dx8 stuff), the gameplay remains unchanged.

Following this logic, the devs said that they don't need to switch to a new engine. This means that they can give the high end crowd simply more graphics options, but everyone can still play the same game, since the engine stays the same. In essence, imagine that the upgraded graphics are nothing more than a "ultra high" and higher option, rather than a different game.

I really believe that if they do the upgrade, they will do it like EVE did.
17. SF's and TF's have a maximum level. If the level range is 40-45, you automatically get exem/malefactored down to 45, you *can't* un-exem to 50 untill you either quit the TF or finish it. If you quit, iirc you're booted out from any mission map instantly aswell, so you can't quit and help there either.
18. Power customisation is probably the best bet for "what has been impossible", practically. The cathedral seemed to be just a bug that couldn;t be found, as far as i understood, but it sits at a number 2 position. I'm very sceptical that they actually will show some "real" new stuff.

A graphical upgrade has been confirmed, but will probably not happen in 2009. It is a *huge* effort, especially in a game using this environment. CCP is still in the process of upgrading their graphics, after 2+ years of work, and that's a *space* game, where there isn't as much scenery, aswell as costumization for characters (yet). I am hopeful they will at least release a character upgrade fairly soon though, since that part of the graphics is running behind on the environment very noticably by now. The customization options offered at the start of the game (especially noticable with "tights with skin") just look plain awful when combined with for example stuff from the cyborg or wedding pack. Or a more simple example, compare the pattern "lightning" with "thorn", to see the difference that around 4 years made in when those patterns were made.

I could drone on about the issues with costumes at the moment, but i think Jay's threads are already bloated enough, but that's most certainly in the top 10.

Other things.... Removing war walls completely is very, very far down the line, but i do think it would be worth it, especially if the couple it to new or even existing missions which are spawns in the open world, rather than instance them. There are however some problems, obviously with making this work. The Rikti War Zone for example.

I don't think speculation would be a very good idea overall... The 2 things with the highest chances of getting (back) in are power customization and the cathedral of pain. Beyond that, i'm not counting on anything.

NCSoft Q3 Report

What WOULD be good for the game is a little bit of marketing. I haven't seen any ads for the game in a long time, and i'm starting to see more and more people who've never even heard of it. Yet they all seem pretty interested when i mention some of COH's features to them (char creation, exem/sk system always draw attention from the wow crowd :&gt

Make people aware that the game still exists!

I notice he's been banned again. I don't see why. I checked the history of the Krimzon Guard article and the unauthorised edits were made on the 24th Oct, when he was editing everyone elses pages. He already got a one week ban for that. The Krimzon Guard page was simply caught late.

I think it's also because of the spam... 30 edits of +/- 20 characters? Rather than trying to help i think it's more like he doesn't have a clue how a wiki works, and doesn't bother to take a hint?

#13 downloading

Just noticed that aswell. I hope it's sooner rather than later though
22. There is a limit, somewhere...

The NHU base dissapeared several times, and apparently the cause was too many items in it. Dunno the exact number.

Union "Legends"

Hana Li, for keeping our huge base paid for almost all on her own for years, and generally being a very patient and cool leader ^^

Sorry, just had to get that one out, she really deserves it. A true hero, even if she's more obscure than 15 Delft's Blauw colored candles in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
24. Toggles are all 5-slotted with Red Fortune (40+), passives with 3 def IO's (50), PB with 2 recharges (Elude has 3 recharge and 1 def, but shouldnt really count here). That should be more than good enough.... Unless you're all telling me that i'm a bad player for not having 500 million inf for orange and purple sets.

Still, i have around 90% defense with toggles and elude on, 45% with just the toggles and a small def insp. That should still be enough for pretty much everything, but still i got hit by at least those demons pretty much 100%. I simply couldn't get past Infernal.
25. I might have been somewhat annoyed at the time...

Earlier in the evening i did a Katie TF on heroic, and got instakilled nearly constantly. Later i was trrying to do Portal missions, got demons first (The Infernal mission) and got insta-killed to the point where i had to drop the mission... Impossible to finish (my defense was actually up in the 110%).

Maybe i just got a lot of bad rolls chained together, but it still leaves the matter of defense being so fragile in many ways.

Damage resistance is always there, there's no chance-based roll on getting passed it. So is regeneration. Defense can be completely negated by any mob in the level, however, and i still think SR needs a slight PvE buff in this regard. High level content is a lot more demanding, but whereas damage resistance and regeneration work the same at every level, SR is handicapped by any level difference, or mob type.
