You have to run a Hero Morality Mission first. The badge awards seven days after that.

Not once in the Warden arc did I feel like I was doing some not-good things.
I took a whole arc to rescue a guy's family so he could leave, and then the guy didn't want to leave anyway, so I might as well have not bothered.

    Whee.
  3. This is basically a version of the Sacrificial Lamb trope. In order to establish that this is a Darker And Edgier Black and Grey Morality World Half Empty(*), they present you with this sort of choice right out the gate. And they purposefully put it in the Loyalist Responsibility route, just in case you were getting any ideas about upholding the law and being a good person just like you could in CoH.

(*) Be glad I didn't link to all three of those.
  4. D&D characters can vary in power immensely depending on what the GM allows.

Superheores can vary in power immensely depending on what the writer allows.

There is really no one definite way to answer that.
  5. The Paris Hilton of supervillany.
  6. I counted five subsequent waves of those at four points in the mission. It seems like a bit much, but then, I am one of those dreaded casual players and the expansion may not be *for* me.
  7. You can try searching the site for the booster pack, and both versions should pop up. that's how I find them.

    Fix'd.
  9. You can get Clubber in Pocket D - or at least, I have progress on Clubber on my Praetorian.
  10. Magic Salvage. Delicious, Delicious Magic salvage. Especially if you're playing your mid-level (25-40) characters.

I’d like to hear your opinions. What do you think about what this reviewer has to say?
I thought you were trying to cut *down* on posts that are likely to end in massive flamewars?

Yes. Mother Mayhem is now required.

Basically, the "logic" there is "overuse of slurs = rude, Goons = rude, therefore all Goons overuse slurs all the time". It's funny because I'm condemning a whole group of people based on third-hand accounts of the actions of some people who may not even be associated with the group.

If you mean "s*mpr*ni", that's a fake "naughty word" from Monty Python, which I'm using to indicate that this is a joke and I don't actually think Goons call people nasty things all the time. Just most of the time.
  14. Yep, made an evil Praetorian alternate of my main. Praetoria lends itself really well to playing a complete sociopath with a cruel streak - the possibilities are endless for hurting a bunch of people, then betraying your side, and going on to hurt a new bunch of people in different ways.

Impossible. Everyone knows Goons cannot feel joy unless they are actively preventing other people from having fun in a game. And they use "g*y", "f*g", "j*w" and "s*mpr*ni" as punctuation.

You make it sound like Goons aren't a terrifying force that destroys any online community it touches, just a bunch of regular people who post on a message board and have a peculiar sense of humor.

At a guess, veterans who started a new account for some reason, or people who have played other MMOs and went through the tutorial reading everything (don't laugh, it could happen) so they're on the ball for most things.
  17. Let's see if I've got this right - few people online in the weeks *before* an expansion launches means DOOOM nobody wants to play the game anymore (and saying things like "maybe people are waiting for the expansion/betatesting the expansion" is fanboism or dev apologism or existentialism or something), but servers being full to capacity after the launch means absolutely nothing because everyone knows in two weeks it'll be back to at least one person being unable to find a team on Champion at 10 AM on a Tuesday, and thus DOOOM?
  18. Checking vet badges of characters I run across (mostly on Virtue and Victory Nova Praetoria), I find about one completely new player for every four returning/still playing players, and three of those are >4 year vets.
  19. Make sure you read the text carefully - sometimes, picking the Hero option for one tip gives you a mission which is the Vigilante option from a completely different tip. If this happens, abandoning the mission and investigating the tip again should help (it won't use up a Fame slot, either).

I was talking about tip missions in the 20-50 range.

Example: You find that some corrupt policemen are being targetted by the Whispered Hand, who are also after Silent Blade. Hero option is to save the policemen so they can answer in front of a jury, Vigilante option is to hunt down Silent Blade instead. If you pick the Vigilante option, you have a chat with Silent Blade during which your only options are to make a "I am the law" speech.

Praetorian missions are actually a bit better about giving you various dialogue options that don't directly impact the result to refine your motivation. ("Where's my cup of coffee?")

    GR rundown

Quick rundown of major GR points for me:

    Good surprises:

    1. The writing is very good and the new mission tech is used to great effect. The arcs do a great job of building up a world and get your character involved in it, and your contributions actually feel like contributions.
    2. The new zones, while made with Ultra Mode in mind, scale down extremely well. On low settings, Praetoria gives less graphics lag than most of the Isles.
    3. There is a *lot* of new stuff! Three new zones, plus Underground. Four different storyarcs in each zone, which altogether make for a wide variety of character stories.
    4. Elec control is pretty cool.
    5. Tip missions are fun to run. Most of them are written so well they really do feel like a legitimate choice to make, especially the Hero/Vigilante ones.

    Bad surprises:

    1. The world that's taken such a lot of effort to build up is... something of a Crapsack World. Each side is made up of a large number of completely ******* crazy fanatics, and some reasonable people who are completely ineffectual.
    2. The story does such a good job of pulling your character in, there's really not much to do if you want your character to be something other than a Praetorian. It feels like the effort made to make up this whole new world with new stories would have been better used to actually revamp the starting experience blue and red side. I suppose there's always the MA.
    3. The new enemy groups are hard. The mission maps are enormous. Trying to solo it all on a pre-SOs, pre-Stamina character is an exercise in frustration. Put together a team, even a very modest one (3-4 people), and you suddenly have the opposite problem - levels go by so fast you barely have time for one storyarc before it's time to move on.
    4. Ambushes. Oh sweet Eris, the ambushes. Someone fell asleep on the "add ambush" button and the others never bothered to move them.
    5. It's nice to get a choice between two different options, but once you pick one option, everything else is set in stone - all the dialogue trees in the Tip and Morality missions have exactly one choice for your character.

    Not pictured: Cathedral of Pain.

We are the OP. These forums are our egg. If we cannot break their shell, we will die without ever having posted.

Break the shell of the forums!

    PvP badges

I think the Devs should have a "completely optional non-mandatory opt-in team building painball excercise" organised in their office on the way between the cubicles and the break room, until they learn their lesson about trying to "encourage" non-PvPers to PvP by putting useful rewards in a PvP zone.
  24. Is this for real?

This is the stupidest thing ever. Paragon Studios, you are hurting the vast majority of your players with this slap in the face.

If you go ahead with this idea you are not getting my $15/month anymore.

(Hm... I wonder if the fact the poster 1) doesn't have a redname and 2) is Steelclaw has any bearing on the news... nah, probably not. It looks totes legit. Slap in the face!)
