  1. A store-bought respec was one of the oldest options for purchase, and along with renames and server transfers, and predates Freedom by quite a bit. Freespecs have been given out in the past when a store-bought respec was one of the few offerings they had for micro-transactions, so I'm a little less inclined to assign devious motives for not getting one now.

The store-bought respec is there either for convenience (trading money for time saved), or for players that wanted to change a build so often that they've exhausted the other available options.

As others have mentioned, I would think the changes to stalkers, gravity sets, Hamidon enhancements, and the introduction of archetype enhancement sets would be enough of a reason for a freespec to be granted. They may also want to look at it as an opportunity to encourage the use of other store-bought enhancements too, though I personally won't take it that way.

Just a quick thanks, and a +1 to Masque for a smooth and straight-forward transaction, highly recommended for anyone interested in a trade.
  3. Ed Fries, founder of the company, was at Classic Gaming Expo last year, and I asked him if there was any consideration for supporting City of Heroes figures. Sadly, the short answer was that the player base was too small to be considered worthwhile from a business point of view. Here's to hoping that changes in the future.
  4. I'm trying to rebuild my Ill/Rad to be as exemplar-capable as possible down to level 20, but I can't quite close the gap to account for the casting time on Phantom Army.

The build I'm currently tweaking is below.

I'm aware of the cost for some of these sets. They are within my means, but if there's a more efficient slotting, by all means, fire away.

Also, how badly does enhancement scaling crimp this plan? For example, would the 2 level 50 recharge IOs in Hasten get reduced to approximately half of their effectiveness, and slip out of perma-hasten?

    30,750?

On a practical level, flipping salvage is the fastest way to earn the 7000 sales badge, to get more market transaction slots. The game rewards this behavior.
  6. I had a similar issue on a GTX 280, and running Windows 7 x64. I also tested on a friend's machine with GTX 480s, and saw it occur there as well. It was immediately noticeable using Flashfire with my fire/kinetics controller, and in many other situations where there were large amounts of enemies, or on teams with a lot of effects. This occured across many driver versions, up to 258.96. However, after loading the beta drivers 260.63, the issue has completely vanished. Give it a try, and see if there's any difference on your end.
  7. I'm going, but probably not until 9:30 or so, when some of the late con events are over.
  8. Here's another thing I've found when trying to connect from places like hotels, or airport terminals; there's a splash page with a user agreement that you have to click through before they grant access to the general internet. After accepting, I was able to connect to the game. So try launching a browser first, and going to a common page like google.com, and see if there's a check box you have to accept before you get access.
  9. I've always aimed for 33 or 35 for market purposes, though lately, for personal use, I've been convinced to go for 32 (for exemplaring to 25-29 flashbacks). For blue side, I'm almost tempted to go for 31s, to cover Moonfire as well. But both of those are odd levels if you intend to sell, and may move slower.
  10. Silurian

    who is 666?

I'm like to share, so I often mirror repeating bids, but in large numbers.

    I WILL drink your milkshake!
  11. With global e-mail allowing each individual character's market slots to become part of a greater meta-being, it means that I don't have to worry about clogging up the character I'm currently playing. I can now list items that might be of questionable short-term return that will both increase my overall income and well as pump supply into the channel.
  12. +1 for NYCC, it's my home town, I'm attending and certainly appreciate their participation.

That said, I regularly attend PAX and SDCC, so I do hope the other big cons in the south and midwest get some love as well.
  13. For heroes, I have a level 10, 2 33s, a 35 and a 38. For villains, I have 2 35s. The level 10 is for MA ticket rolls, the others are for merit-generating activity, which I will roll when they have 100 or more.
  14. Level 32 red-side:
Call of the Sandman: Acc/Sleep/Rech (Recipe)
    Stupefy: Chance for Knockback (Recipe)

    Touch of Death: Dam/End/Rech (Recipe)
    Stupefy: Chance for Knockback (Recipe)
    Touch of Death: Dam/End/Rech (Recipe)

    Numina's Convalescence: +Recovery and +Regeneration (Recipe)
Positron's Blast: Chance for energy damage (Recipe)
    Expedient Reinforcement: End/Dam/Rech (Recipe)
Siphon Insight: Chance for +To Hit (Recipe)
    Devastation: Acc/Dam/Rech (Recipe)
Aegis: +Psionic and Mez Resist (Recipe)

    Will update with sales results.
  15. Yes, there is the Find Salvage option, but that doesn't help me determine whether I need I just the one Alchemical Silver for this recipe, or to buy 4 total to cover the other 3 recipes I have that also need it.
  16. Not being able to right-click and get info on a piece of salvage in the market interface (not in my own inventory) to see which of my current recipes require it is a bit of a pain. The way I used to shop for salvage is that I would start at the top of my recipe inventory, look for the first piece of salvage needed in the invention salvage node, then get info, and see how many more recipes needed that piece. Then repeat as I progress down. Instead, I have to go through the entire list of recipes and count up how many pieces I need, rather than having the game do it for me.
  17. Generated the following blue-side recipes at level 33.
    Entropic Chaos: Dam/End/Rech (Recipe).
    Mako's Bite: Acc/End/Rech (Recipe).
    Mako's Bite: Dam/Rech (Recipe).
Blessing of the Zephyr: Knockback Reduction (4 points) (Recipe).
    Perfect Zinger: Rech/Acc (Recipe).
    Positron's Blast: Dam/Acc/End (Recipe).
Luck of the Gambler: End/Rech (Recipe).
    Touch of Death: Dam/End/Rech (Recipe).
    Executioner's Contract: Disorient Bonus (Recipe).

    NC Store

    http://eu.plaync.com/eu/store/catego...y_of_villains/

This is the only merch I've seen on the website. The only part that's unclear is that it links to the EU site, so I'm not sure how US ordering works.
  19. I have an HP 23-inch monitor which runs at 1920x1200 natively (16:10 ratio), which seems common for 24-inchers also.
  20. Good points, guys. I'm going to have to patch up the laptop copy and see if performance is any better.

I suspect the people that complained about this had systems with 1GB of RAM or less. The desktops that I run the game on have 2GB or more, and never had any noticeable response lag. But when I loaded it onto my laptop with only 1GB, opening the market window, especially on red side, might result in a disconnect as the machine was busy swapping to accommodate the data influx. These may be the same people that are "slow loaders" when zoning or entering missions. Even before ultra-mode, the game seems to need a 1.5GB to 2GB machine for smooth sailing.
  22. To add fuel to the speculation, I asked Positron at the PAX East meet-up what he thought of the intention of many villain players to go Hero or Vigilante just to access the blue market. His response was, paraphrased here, that "when the time comes to do that, they may find that they won't need to" for that particular reason, referring back to their intentions to address market shortcomings. Make of that what you will.
  23. If it's a lower-level TF (35 or under), I'll run it with a level-locked alt so the merits are spent at that lower level. I try to limit my 50s to the TFs that are levels 38+.

I do find it a bit incongruous as an overall design that enhancements with smaller enhancement numbers have more utility with regards to set bonuses than higher level ones. Some might say that adds texture to planning a build, but I'm not sure how many are that meticulous about it.

  25. This is the team support build I think I'm going with, to be capped at 35. I've deferred a few attacks I would have taken sooner to the 20's. This will also be a test of how long I can put off taking a travel power.

As far as merit rolls, I've been going with every 5 levels starting at 20.
