  1. It's not bad for Kinetic Combats on a squishy for easy good s/l defense.

Putting Hecatombs in Brawl as anything more than a joke is pretty bad.
  2. SS/FA or SS/SD. SS/SD isn't great for non-AE villside farming because that's basically just Nemesis who chew up SD.

Heroside however, SD rules. As Fiery said, SS/FA will breeze through the Demon farm. If you want to run Council Earth or Battle Maiden, SS/FA would be fine but SS/SD would be better.

I'd say it depends how patient you are. If you want to make/level something now, go with SS/FA since you'll be able to run villside farms with it as well as heroside eventually. If you're making it purely as a redside toon to farm heroside, go SS/SD.

This is of course assuming you have the funds to make the builds work well. Both SS/SD and SS/FA can be pricey to get going strong. SS/WP would be very cheap to run and still be much faster than your Fire/Rad troller.
    I'd say

  4. Heh, my current SS/FA build would cost between 12 and 15b with current market prices. Since his first iteration, I've probably spent about 3-4b on him :3
  5. Fire/Kin will grab more aggro because it's doing more damage. Usually with RoA the first tick will land, stuff will get mad, then the rest of the ticks land and stuff dies.

But if you're playing with Brutes who will have stuff aggroed on them, it's more or less a wash.

The difference between fire/kin and archery/kin is small, but it is there. The deciding factor is whether that difference matters enough to you to influence what you make. Fire/Kin and Archery/Kin will both be AoE and team buffing monsters. With either primary you're going to be putting out huge AoE damage, I'd say make whichever appeals to you more.
  6. I wouldn't worry about it. As Heraclea said, as long as the rewards aren't totally out of whack, (which it doesn't sound like they are), you should be fine.

Because you can build a controller or scrapper or brute or whatever to be tough enough so they're never spending any time on their back, any superfluous toughness paid for in lower damage is a bad bargain.

Do you really use Taunt when solo farming?

RoA is pretty awesome, but I'd still give the nod to fire. Higher ST damage and better AoEs in conjunction with /kin.

I say that because RoA uses the pet damage cap which is lower than yours, whereas Fireball and Breath use your damage cap. RoF uses the pet damage cap but has double Scourge damage so it's all good.

For a kin having huge amounts of AoE is great but the best AoEs in Archery are Fistful and RoA. Fistful is easily one of my favourite cones, but you'll have to run out of spawns to use it (same for Breath, though). On a character as fast moving and twitchy as kins are, the RoA animation would get on my nerves. I'd rather hurl a Fireball and keep zooming around.
  9. I dunno, I think 1b is still a lot. It's not as much as it was, but you can still buy most of a build for 1b.

My last build cost me about 2b, 500ish for normal IOs and the rest on purples. *shrug*

It's just when you're starting your morning with casual player tears and want to purple/LotG/pvp IO out your characters that 1b doesn't seem like a lot.

And can you give any specific examples of what Weaken does? Sort of like people do when they're talking about how Confuse rocks when used on FF Generators and Sorcerors and so on.

eg use it on a Rikti Guardian and their AM and Force Fields are less effective?
use it on Silver Mantis and her Build Up is less effective?

auto power self buffs... does that count innate Defence bonuses? or even innate Resistance?
Like Benumb which also works as a reverse Powerboost:

Hit the healing Nictus with it on the ITF and it'll heal Rom for much less.

Hit any AV with a +def godmode with it before they pop the godmode and it'll give them much less defense.

Hit a green Mito with it and they'll heal for much less.

It won't affect resistances, inherent or otherwise. Hitting Statesman with it before he hits Unstoppable won't make him get less resistance from it, hitting Mynx with it before she hits Elude will reduce the defense she gets from it.

As for Silver Mantis, it'll reduce the +tohit she gets from Build Up, but not the +damage.

Bear in mind it doesn't work retroactively. For example, if you hit Mynx with it after she hits Elude, she'll still get the full benefit of Elude. Hitting Rikti Drones with it won't make them any easier to hit because their defenses are inherent, you've got to hit them with -def.

  13. Because most people who farm villside with Brutes run Liberate TV on a difficulty setting with bosses. Elec Melee sucks for bosses compared to SS.

Outside of LR which is only up every 26ish seconds Elec sucks for AoE.

    Footstomp is just that good.

You're forgetting accuracy. Doesn't matter how procced out the power is if it doesn't hit.

If you've got decent global accuracy from sets its fine, but otherwise untenable.

Emphasis on almost. Ninjitsu has noticeably lower defense and defense debuff resistance numbers than SR.
  16. With /SD versus Nemesis farm-sized spawns, you either wipe them all out instantly or they blow you to bits once Veng'd up.

As long as you don't fight bosses Elec/SD or SS/SD can work. If you do run with bosses even with BU both telenukes won't kill bosses. So you'll have one or two very, very cranky Veng'd up Warhulks and Fakes. GL with that.

Even with saturated AAO and BU, LR+SC will not kill a +1 Fake Nemesis, unless you had your difficulty set to no bosses so it was scaled down to a Lt.

    Tank Farmer

Yes, Tankers can farm. If the OP wants to farm with a Tanker there are several (relatively speaking) good options for farming Tankers.

But if the OP just wants a farmer that isn't a fire/kin controller and is leaning towards melee, they should make a Scrapper, not a Tanker.

    My first Corr?

+1 to what TFury said about Dark. It's a decent enough set, but its pretty low on damage, especially compared to something like Fire or Ice.

It's definitely more of a utility set, with the AoE immob, AoE stun and self heal. With /Dark or /Rad you've got plenty of utility, so you just want something that melts faces. Hard.

    Fiiiiiiiiire.
  19. Starting at 0 infamy, SS/WP. You'll be able to run just fine on SOs and generic IOs.

Once you've got some infamy built up then if you want something that farms better move on to a SS/FA or SS/SD.
  20. Silas

    My first Corr?

It is, as you say, very team oriented. It's great for teams, but only 2 of the powers help you soloing which can be a drag.

I'd say go with something more general like /Dark or /Rad, then if you want a more supporty corr go with /pain.

This. Many PBAoEs are not nearly as tall as they are wide. Unfortunately you've just gotta get a feel for it. At least for Shadowfall you can see whether or not its reaching your allies because they'll have the little black cloud-ring by their feet.
  22. RoA is a pseudopet. If you use FS before you hit RoA, it will inherit the damage buff from you.

Liberate Television. It's Nemesis, which is why a lot of people don't like it due to the stacking Veng.

Easily the most farmed non-AE mission villainside though. A SS/FA brutes paradise.
  24. In my opinion...

    Best Inherent: Domination

    Best Ranged Attack: Blaze

Best PBAoE: Footstomp/Shield Charge (shut up, it totally counts)

    Best Melee Attack: Siphon Life

Best Ranged AoE: Rain of Arrows

    Best Nuke: Blizzard

    Best Buff: Adrenaline Boost

    Best Debuff: Heat Loss

Best Pet: an Adrenaline-Boosted Brute :3

    Best AoE Mez: Volcanic Gases

    Best ST Mez: Fortunata Dominate

Edit: Best Utility: Ourobors Portal :3
