My first Corr?
AR / something that can slow greatly *like storm* or immobilize enemies so your Ignite can burn to death Ignite benefits from scourge and it checks for the chance at each tick! Ignite really, really melts down targets much more than on other ATs due to the scourge effect.
Let me first say thank you for any constructive advice or input you give. Now to the main point of my post: I am thinking of creating my first redside toon, and Corrs (or maybe Doms) I think would fit me best, so which of the primaries and secondaries are good, and which are bad? By good, I mean able to solo but still be team-friendly, and fun to play at any level from 1-50. I like damage (my favorite debuff, if you call it that), but with Corrs I like the fact there is a little support there as well. So... suggestions of good sets, good combos, and/or sets to stay away from at all costs?

My understanding of your personal preferences was that you wanted something that was well rounded: good early and late and good on teams and solo. Also, it sounds like you want to focus on damage but want some other powers that are beneficial to teammates.
From that understanding I suggest --> Fire/Dark. Starts out strong with Fireball and Tar Patch by level 2? 4? Fire/Dark is a whole big pile of damage. You don't have any direct team buff powers but you do have a fantastic amount of enemy debuffs and you start with an area heal.
Fire/Rad or Fire/Dark. Both Rad and Dark are good, solid secondaries for teaming and soloing, and both are good from very early on.
Fire is the best all-round primary. Good single target damage, good AoE, fantastic Scourging
Of the two, I'd say go Fire/Dark first. It's safer than Fire/Rad, loses the self/team buff but gains a lot of control so you can focus on laying waste to your enemies

I have a Fire/Dark and survived an ambush by three groups of Longbow led by a Ballista. At +0/x8. I doubt I could do it again, but I was flabbergasted when I walked out of that mission.
Thanks for the input so far! I was leaning toward Fire or Dark as a primary from the beginning. How is Pain Dom as a secondary? It looks like it is more team-oriented, but that's not necessarily good or bad.

It is, as you say, very team oriented. It's great for teams, but only 2 of the powers help you soloing which can be a drag.
I'd say go with something more general like /Dark or /Rad, then if you want a more supporty corr go with /pain.

You mentioned Dark as a primary. I wouldn't choose Dark Blast as a primary for your first corruptor. It's not as rewarding as Fire (but what is?), and it takes some skill to make it viable. Save Dark blast as a primary for something later down the road when you get bored with the other awesome primaries.

+1 to what TFury said about Dark. It's a decent enough set, but its pretty low on damage, especially compared to something like Fire or Ice.
It's definitely more of a utility set, with the AoE immob, AoE stun and self heal. With /Dark or /Rad you've got plenty of utility, so you just want something that melts faces. Hard.
Fiiiiiiiiire.

Fire/Dark, Fire/Rad, Fire/Cold, Fire/Storm...
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I'd say Fire or Ice paired with Dark or Radiation.
My first Corrupter was a Fire/Kin, and while it's now so strong that it can be almost boring to play, there was a STEEP learning curve, and it devoured endurance so fast that I had to act primarily as support (With the occasional Fireball and Blaze) until level 35 when I got Transference and suddenly became a horrible, terrifying monster. The only problem that it still has is a lack of mitigation. I do not recommend it for a first corrupter.
Too many alts to list.
I agree with the others, Fire/Dark sounds like the char that would fit best for what you want, and is altogether a great pair to start your Corr career.
Once you feel more comfortable you might also consider Archery/Kin: Kin is the big-daddy of damage buffs and Archery is definitely no slouch for damage either. The reason why I would suggest Archery over Fire in this case is for Stunning Shot, which can perma-stun a boss whilst soloing since a Kin is light on the damage mitigation. Plus, Fulcrum Shift + Rain of Arrows.

I've almost finished off my fire/dark, always wondered what dark would be like on a corr having had several corrs and dark on a mm but never getting round to making a dark corr.
Well, now I know and I'd have to say "sweet" sums it up. Took it on an ITF and a RWZ Raid this week and looking forward to RSF this weekend, just need one more level. I've been soloing bits of my patron missions and TV missions and mayhems but my love of playing comes from pugs and this combination brings a lot of control and survivability.
I also found my ice/cold corr easy, didn't like my fire/therm at all, struggling a bit on my sonic/rad, hated my rad/rad, loved my fire/kin.

Just started a Fire/Dark. She's only lvl 9 but for performance at low levels I am quite pleased with her. I am looking forward to getting a larger variety of powers to play with. It looks very promising.
