I agree with part or your suggestino... IMHO if you need to clear a spawn/ambush as a mission objective... making them run away and not want to come back ever should count toward your mission objective as essentually you've completed the task of defeating the opponents. If the plot line says "capture/kill/bring them to justice" then it should be the boss only.
Hunting for badguys who run away and hide/get stuck, etc. is as unfun as spending 15 minutes playing "find the invisible maelstrom" in that stupid level 50 Hero tip mission. -
Quote:I did it the hard way a long time ago... adding filler toons to get the extra bonuses with members. Back then there was nothing to spend influence on, so there was no reason to not run in supergroup mode once you could afford your SO's. When I moved servers, one of the things i was dreading was starting over with prestige. Then I saw what the Crazy 88's were doing burning influence to become the SG prestiege leaders (and to be entertaining to us all with thier cavalier attitudes) and it dawned on me there's a really easy fix to this problem. Why not? A single person could, for example, make billions of influence via the market, convert it all to Prestige, and build a gigantic base all for themselves. It's really just a matter of how much effort you want to put into it.
That said, even though I calculated how much influence was needed and cashed it in, I still haven't placed all the teleports in my base. I find with all the teleports available outside of the SG base these days, i never use the base for travel anymore. -
For my solo SG, I would go to Atlas Park and run tip missions every night, just advertising to invite whoever wanted to join me. I'd nearly always pick up 2-3 people with 1 broadcast and would get a 30-40 minutes of leader time doing my normal nightly run of tip missions. I did choose to kill all in each mission rather then stealth them since most of the people joining were looking for some XP.
As mentioned earlier, to earn progress toward the badge you must be leader of a team in SG mode. -
No FX hasten is so commonly asked for, they really should find a way to make it available.

I file this whole concept into the "well... if it makes money for the game, I'm ok with it" catagory. I do, however, find myself using this logic an awful lot lately.
-
I agree.... I've scrapped concepts altogether because the costume didn't color the way I wanted it to.
-
I actually don't mind this bug... I like the idea of EB's?AV's showing up randomly in missions with their villian groups. This is a far less annoying bug then the interface reset bug.

Quote:Anybody used the spring attack to add a port 3rd nuke to this combo? I always wanted to try that.If we're talking top end builds fighting uplevel x8, though, that burst damage can be done on every single spawn, just like I was doing Shield Charge on every spawn. I'll agree that Thunder Strike isn't as good as Fire Sword Circle due to the smaller radius (7' vs. 10'), though. I'm betting that's a problem in practice. Still, I'd think one nice Lightning Rod per spawn would more than make up for it.
But yeah, now I'm thinking they'd have similar performance.
Maybe, though, Electric could do better at lower level crowds? Stagger the two big hitters, Shield Charge one group, Lightning Rod the other. Use Ball Lightning or Fire Ball in combination with Thunder Strike to do the remaining AoE. Maybe don't even pause to finish off whatever's left - just head to the next group and nuke it with whatever AoEs are up. Nuke, move, nuke, move. If something catches up, they'll go down. If they don't catch up, it wouldn't be worth the time to finish them off.
I'm just theorizing, though.
And I can see wanting better sustained output for an ambush farm, say. I'm counting travel time in the mix here, giving attacks a chance to recharge. -
I have a lot of fun on my MA/Fire toon tricked out for tons of recharge. In my very brief experience of farming AE tickets, I was hitting my ticket max (on a 1500 max map) in 2 minutes (just as the 2nd set of +defense insperations wears off, so that's not an exagerated estimate). I really don't know what SS/FA brutes do in that scenario, but that felt very fast.
Granted my survivability isn't rock solid like a lot of scrapper forumites would prefer, but I do jump into 4x8 spawns solo all the time using shadow meld... the trick is that if i don't kill everything in 15 seconds (I usually do) I may have to scramble for a few seconds while shadowmeld recharges or use my self rez to get back into the fight. -
Quote:The real boost from DB is from applying blinding feignt as often as possible, so whatever you do, try to focus on that tactic.I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I've been considering a DB/SR scrapper just for fun, but I've tried DB characters before and always worked with the combos which I absolutely just did not like.
However, the attacks seemed to be fairly good with a good mixed of ST and AoE attacks (even though two are cones)
I was curious if the damage output is considered good enough on DB to perform well without the regular use of combos?
It happens that BF>attack vitals combo is a reasonbly easy attack chain to use and provides a nice cone attack so it covers all your basic needs. The other combos don't do signficant boosts, so If you don't want to use them, you're not missing much.
As for end game... BF>SS>AS, or BF>AS>SS>AS are both superior in damage output to any chain that applies a combo. -
Keep in mind... nobody is important in the incarnate trials... you just need numbers and some organization. So while in one respect, you're correct in fearing that you powers are not particularly needed in the trials... you'd also be correct if you had that fear for every other AT in the game as well, not just dominators.

If my understanding of the badge requirements is correct...we missed getting avatar assassin by killing him 1 second to early.
It's a shame this new content isn't particularly rewarding/popular. It's well done and very uniquely styled. I'm looking foward to more. -
They need to add a full service vendor to Pocket D and call it good.

how are we meeting up?

I'll try to make this with Tiger Dragon Monkey - scrapper... i'll pick up as much clarion tree as I can tonight.
update: teir 3 clarion available. -
Quote:Yes, playing on a laptop.Without knowing anything about your system, it's impossible to diagnose the problem. At a guess, though, another program is stealing focus from City of Heros when you click or hit the / key.
Another guess is that you're playing on a laptop.
I can click in the chat box also and still can't type, so it's not tied to the / key... and once the chat box is unhighlighted the game continues playing and taking keyboard input with no issues, so I while it might be related to another program, It seems suspicious that it gains and looses focus in exactly the same way the chat input box does. Do you have a suggestion on how I could check if there is something running to cause this problem? -
Quote:*begins working on a way to burn cats for fuel*This is flat-out false. Wind turbines kill 150,000 birds each year. Cats kill 500 million birds a year. 100 million birds die each year flying into the sides of glass buildings. Power lines kill 10 million birds and cars kill 11 million birds each year.
Why? Simply because there are a hell of lot more cats and glass buildings and power lines and cars than there are, or will ever be, wind turbines.

Here's the issue:
I hit enter or / to start typing in chat or to start typing a command... the chat box is highlighted or the "/" shows up and the box is highlighted, but I can't type anything. No letters or numbers will appear. If my sound is on, I'll get a beeping after typing a bunch of letters. I can hit enter to get out of the chat interface without sending anything. (it seems like I have to hit it more then once, though). I can switch windows and type something into notepad then cut and paste it into the interface to send a command or line of chat. Everything works fine with typing outside of the game. Changing channels doesn't help. When I'm not in the chat interface all my binds work ok, so the keyboard is working properly. It's only when I go to chat that i won't let me type anything.
This problem doesn't happen all the time. I can fix the problem by quitting and restarting the game. Logging out a charictor then coming back doesn't fix the problem.
I can't tell you what triggers the issue. I suspected this is some kind of windows or keyboard setting, but I've been looking for a long time and can't find anything.
I run Windows 7. It happens maybe 3-4 times per week, so not even every time I play. I'm not sure what other information may help, but it's pretty annoying to be on a team and not even be able to chat. It's really annoying to not be able to use the handy shortcuts like /auctionhoue or /quit.
Any suggestions or questions that would help diagnose the issue are appreciated. Thanks. -
Surivival is binary. You don't get extra credit for living more easily... you do, however get more reward by killing faster.
In my opinion, scrappers kill faster and can live long enough. I feel no reason to reduce my damage output to get more survivabilty. -
It feels like my loading times since last week's patch have been really quick. Did they do something that might affect that? If so, well... someone noticed. If not, then nevermind.

Soft capped electric which is whay you have now, is pretty darn close to as good as you'll get on survivability. I think your concern that claws does too little damage do to resistance to lethal is really not warrented. If you're looking at incarnate trials as your gage, you're still -3 to those badguys. Once you have all your level shifts and are -1, you'll notice a huge boost in damage. The amount of lethal resistsance isn't really that big of a deal. I think a lot of people see themselves killing badguys in 2-3 hits at level 35 and expect that to continue to level 50, but what happens is around level 40 the badguy's hitpoints start going up a lot faster then your attack damage and it takes a few more hits per target to finish them off. You also tend to start fighting more +2s +3s and +4s and your damage per attack gets reduced significantly regardless of the type of damage.
-
And yes... this is a big problem with damage auras on scrappers in general. Wish they would address this because it's a very common complaint.
-
If nobody has any taunt going, the agro is going to be on the guy who starts the fights and on anyone who throws out AoEs... If you're running lighting field and/or always starting the fights, that may be why you're taking more damage then them. I'm guessing that somewhere in the teens-20s the willpower toon will start dieing a lot, because their taunt aura is going to kick in and draw all the agro if you 3 are teamed together.

Quote:Hey that'd work! ...for about 15 minutes.EVERYONE should do only mid level common rolls and flood the market! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, the throughput of the common salvage market is way way faster then most people realize. It self corrects from any major event in minutes.
You may get more lively discussion about this subject in the market forum. -
Sure, a scrapper CAN solo... but if you do play solo, who will be there to witness your awsomeness? ...if a tree falls in the woods....
