Quote:see, here is where i have to disagree with you sam. while you may not like putting in the man hours to your base, others of us do actually enjoy it. when i13 came out i spent 3 days on just my villian base alone. most of it is still unfinished, but what i do have done is awesome. the only reason it remains undone is because i have several rooms that are empty. i just need themes for the rooms. RL has kept me busy and i just haven't spent time on the bases. i even know some people that base editing is all they do. they even offer their services to help other sg's build their bases. It's bases like these that only serve to convince me that the base editor is completely broken as an aspect of a game. Those rooms are beautiful. They're gorgeous. But I know what kind of effort and fidgeting is required to pull this off, and at this point I may as well just fire up 3DS Max and go to town. The editor is hideously complicated, badly uncomfortable and requires so much honest-to-God WORK to put out anything decent it's just not worth the bother.
Years ago, they tried to sell us the base editor as the next step after the costume editor. This has NEVER been the case. I spent a good work day working on just one single room, and while it looked good at the end, that's still one room, done in, what... 3-4 hours? Probably more. I don't spend 3-4 hours working on my gloves, because I don't HAVE to. Even when I've no idea what I want, I can still put together an entire costume in half an hour to an hour. Less if I can get my mother (yes, seriously) to help out.
The bases people produce are always really cool, but that kind of effort is just unworkable, and not because of prestige costs, but because of man-hour costs. Yes, people with a lot of skill, a lot of imagination and A LOT OF TIME ON THEIR HANDS can put together AMAZING things. But the rest of us ten-thumbed knuckle-draggers are basically locked out of the system, because it REQUIRES all of that stuff. Even Spore, a game that's basically ABOUT making things out of smaller things, doesn't have that kind of effort and skill requirements to work it. I can knock together a space ship or a three-legged monster or an impossible building in 15 minutes in Spore without having to spend a day refining every minute detail.
If anything ever happens to bases, I hope they introduce a modification to the editor that makes it easier to use for simpler people like me, or outright go into a compound editor that works like an RTS. In fact, you know what? I was just playing UFO Extraterrestrials, the X-Com knockoff of the 2000s, when aliens raided my base. I went about retaking it when I suddenly realised that... Hold the phone! I know this place! And then I remembered that, duh, I built this place! As in the original Enemy Unknown, bases here are built in large chunks of square facilities, but the actual arrangement of the facilities is still as I put it down. That's about enough customization for me, and I sincerely hope we get something simpler if bases are ever overhauled. -
you can do it right through your in game email. it is on top of your chat box.

Quote:bad argument.50s get them just as much as anyone else, regardless of who they're "for". Besides, they drop so much I can't even see buying them.
Or how about just doubling our recipe-holding capacity to make up for all the trash we're getting? I'd be OK with that.
as for your second question, no. all they need to do is adjust the drop rate of them. -
Quote:get the ninja pack. you get a halfway decent travel power at lv 4. ninja run. and if you and a friend are having trouble with the missions, either you are doing something wrong or you might want to turn the diff down until a later time.Difficult settings are default, I cant go under that, its too lame.
Also I have sands of mu and nemesis staff, so something must be wrong.
Hope GR address this, because at early levels I dont feel super at all, just a human with few tricks and travel powers come too late.
Should be at 6...
That is the very few things I think CO does better. Make u feel more super at early stages. -
-rep:Very dismissive comment. Learn to play nice, or don't talk at all.
this was hilarious. i actually did fall out of my chair LMAO. i went down 2 whole rep points because someone didn't like what i said. awe. did i hurt someone's feelings? was i not nice in what i said? did i speak badly? was it becuase i didn't say please and thank you? was it because i didn't offer a courtesy reach around? was it becaue i didn't look you in the eyes when i blew my... never mind that one. did i pull your pig tails to hard? did i not pull them enough? please, enlighten me.
holy pile of steaming crap batman, some people these days are so touchy.
edit: next time you try to tell me how to act on the forums, leave your name. it'll be much funnier that way. -
no, it doesn't and i should have put that in my post. my bad.
-
i believe it is for the toon itself. but honestly, i wouldn't rely on that method. download hero stats and run it. that will give you the accurate info.

Quote:and where, if you don't mind me asking, was there a rule book on how the dev's wanted bases to be used? and the system was just updated in i13. not years ago.
Like eveything else in this game, base editing and design are not being used in the way the devs intended it but at least folks are still managing to have fun with a system that hasn't been updated in years. Give them a little credit for trying to keep things interesting at least. -
Quote:i have quoted myself just because everyone who still doesn't understand this seems to have missed it.
it is the summer. people doing things with their families and everything. just like every time a holiday comes up or people go back to school, the servers will look like no one is on because people are doing their own thing before getting back into the game.
this happens every year at the same times. "oh my god, there are 20 less people on, the servers are dead. i don't give a crap about your logical answers. only my own self deluted ones."
people take breaks. i know, it's blasphemy. again, pay attention to the time of year it is. this happens at least 5 times per year. when GR hits, what will be next, oh my god, there is no one starting in atlas/galaxy/mercy? -
i'm going to ask since i don't think anyone else did. what level are you trying this at? i would almost suggest trying it around lv 44, when you have more powers if it is that tough for you to do now. also don't slot any io's past lv 42. 40 for regular common io's and 42 for set io's.
oh, and another question. did you take indomitable will? this will keep you from getting feared. if you didn't, i suggest doing a respec and getting it. then all you have to worry about is carrying yellows and maybe some greens and reds and some oranges to deal with damage resistance. -
Quote:PvP io's have been in the game since i13 or 14. infact they dropped from the sky until i15 when none dropped for about a month or so. you don't "need" the expensive io's to compete. and if it does bother you that much, you can go to the arena and have some casual PvP.I came back after a six month layoff went into rv, lasted about oh 10 secs. So i started looking at what set bonuses people had. Went to the black market to see how i could upgrade my toon only to find out it would cost about 8-10 billion inf to get up to snuff.
I was dissappointed to say the least. There is no way i can compete anymore with these ultra toons. Kudos to those that have all that stuff and took the time and effort to grind out the cash to buy all those fancy purple sets. Prices from 500-800 million for one recipe are no longer reachable. Maybe they could have a place where normal folks like myself can pvp on a casual basis. -
dont forget that there is a limit to how many items can be in the base. i think it is around 14,000. anymore then that and your base can go bye bye.
nice pics by the way. -
Quote:wait, bill, are you saying you don't like that idea? All names are changed to @global - character name
EDIT: Which would suck, be dumb, break immersion, be distasteful, be annoying and generally be a rotten idea. Did I mention I'd hate this option?
i would hate to see this also.
to everyone else for server mergers, for the last time, can we shut up about server mergers. obviously there are enough people on each server to warrant keeping it around. -
at this point i would go to your comcast center and bring the old modem with you and ask for them to replace it letting them know what is going on. make sure you ask for a brand new one. you might still get one that looks brand new but has been used, but it may help to oust the modem as the problem.
-
that is why i always wait a few seconds before i hit bid to make sure i haven't made a nasty extra 0 mistake.
-
are you using a usb cable or an ethernet cable to hook up your modem to your comp?
-
you actually have to manually reset it. which means shut down your comp, unplug the modem for at least 2 mins. replug in the modem, wait 30 secs to a min after it reboots then turn back on your comp.
-
couldn't tell, but have you reset your modem and router(if you have arouter)?
that may help you out. -
best bet is to get on a team and throw down. if you don't like seeing broadcast in zone, then remove broadcast from your channel for now or set it up so that it is on it's own chat tab so you can switch to/from it when you want.
-
break frees, break frees and break frees. insps can be combined even when mezzed.
-
don't 6 slot stamina. it only needs a total of 3 slots. use the other 3 in powers that need them.

Quote:no it doesn't need any forced teaming. and i am from infinity. i see plenty of people running around. anyone that has been on for any length of time can tell you that, and i don't believe i have to say this every time this stupid subject comes up, it is the summer. people doing things with their families and everything. just like every god damn time a holiday comes up or people go back to school, the servers will look like no one is on because people are doing their own thing before getting back into the game.
This game really needs an auto-team feature,
seriously, i have ******* had it with these types of threads poping up. do you guys even realize that every time you post these types of threads, and no you do not have to join the forums to read them, you are discouraging new players from even joining the game? enough is enough already. -
Quote:you are 100% totaly wrong and self centered. all of your "points" are absolutely false. it is everybodies right to play on which ever and what ever kind of server they want to play on.No. Most people want to play the game as they enjoy it and couldn't care less about the game's health short of it being up and running. The health of the game runs counter to what most people actually want. I'm certainly no different in that regard, I openly lobby for pvp. Of course what I want I can actually provide somewhat compelling reasons to support whereas people that harp about their right to play on a small server are just hilarious.
They of course want to enjoy all the benefits that the larger servers bring them like:
-making money for the game so they can play new content alone
-enjoying new tech upgrades that the larger populations have brought them
-using the market to buy IO's that are largely generated on the bigger servers
-and more that I don't care enough to think of
The really funny thing is that they could merge the entire population on to one server and you'd still be able to log in at any time and find entire zones empty or close to it where you could play alone to your heart's content. But those people (and they are up front about it) don't want to see anyone even when they travel in to the "city".
I don't personally care one way or the other if you like to play with no one around or 1000 people watching you constantly. What I'm bothered by is people acting (or even saying) it is their right in this game to play on a low population server. For those people I'd like them to think about just one thing. They haven't consolidated servers as a result of low numbers, this much is true. But they also wouldn't expand the number of servers if by some miracle numbers grew considerably. That should spell out exactly where those "rights" sit.
servers are not what makes NCsoft money. the subscriptoins are. also, drops are generated on all servers and available to all servers. -
/unsigned. costumes should never have any bearing on game play. interesting idea though and maybe something for CoH2 or another game.
