Quote:im just going to say no. buffs do not need to be applied all of the time. it is nice but something that is not needed. as to the bottom part of your suggestion, no. then you will get people whining that they weren't in range of the buff.Another thought that occurs to me, at least for bubble powersets that consistently include 2 or more single application short term bubbles, would be to change the relevant powers so that if you have both of them, application of one performs like application of both.
Say for instance the Force Field shields... 1st shield provides some smashing/lethal defense, 2nd shield provides energy/fire/etc. (there's more to it, but that's sufficient for this example... for the same reason I'll be using some "simpler than actual" numbers)
Change each power so that if you have just the first shield, it still works the way it does now, same for the second. But if you have both shield powers, each of them provides the buff of both of them combined (smashing/lethal/fire/energy/etc.) and the base endurance cost doubles. Now as long as you have both, you can use just one and get the effects of both. In net effect, it gains some benefit by reducing the total application time for the whole team. (There's also some room for abuse with the need for enhancements, but I'm just posting an idea to consider, not a comprehensive design for total overhaul) The quality of life issues would be simplified significantly though, as it reduces the potential for confusion over who needs which buffs (the icons look the same to me, especially the tiny ones... and not everyone is capable of writing out keybinds that cycle which buff is applied like I do), it gives a "100% reduction to power effects spam" for the selected powers, and provides a little more time before bubblers start suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome.
All in all, even I think this idea is more work to implement in retrofitting existing powers than it would be worth... but I think it would be something to consider the value of if the time comes that they need to overhaul the powers anyway, or create new powers of a similar nature.
Another possibility to consider would be to retrofit the powers as a targeted or point blank Area of Effect, that hits everyone, then charges you a much higher endurance cost, similar to how MM pet buffs were overhauled.
Yet one more option to consider would be enhancements to a power's duration. I know there's a lot of powers I'd like to see that available for. -
Quote:oo... oooo wait.... i can do this. in my best J_B whiney voice, " But were supossed to be SUPERHEROES. we shouldn't be killed by anything and should be able to take down the biggest of baddies with ease."Yup. You know why? Because there's a bunch of AVs out there that can two shot me with impunity.
It's called game balance. Your inability to grasp such a pre-school concept is pathetic.
ok, now that that's out of my system, i agree with Bill here. game balance is what it's about. infact, i think i may go write a comic where superman is killed by a giant green ball of snot that some random person sneezes on him, and batman is reduced to a sniveling coward when sailor moon shows up. why, cause that is how i need them to be in my story. that is how comics work. the way it works in video games is alot different then the comic books because it is all but impossible to determine the make up of any given toon, let alone team of toons, and have the npc's change up to offer a challenge.
i hope that sounds the way i meant it to. -

no. /unsigned. especially to the endurance one. this is code that is just begining to release all sorts of bugs out into the wild.

Quote:this is what is known as trolling. he said he didn't like the idea. that is all that needs to be said. as i said earlier, if you actually read the linked thread that can be found in this thread, you will see those for and against. i think most of us have come to the understanding that a separate room would be a very good solution. you on the other hand, as well as others, seem to not understand that the markets are an open space that is not subjected to power supression and if it were it would interfere with people traveling over them. hence why most of us have suggested and gone along with the idea of a separate room that can have power supression without interfering with people traveling over the markets.Forbin Project & Sharker Quint, he asked.
Unsubstantiated comments, are just that. Ether they are lazy, stupid, and/or they have anterior motives and unable or willing to at least give a cover stories.
P.S. Notice how in both cases they are ether lazy or stupid in the end. -
seriously, go read the thread that is posted within this one. don't be an ***.

in this thread you show exactly how you do not understand how to use the markets effectively. you also seem to not understand that rare and ultra rare loot are exactly as they are meant to be. rare and ultra rare. io's are not needed to do any of the content of the game. they are "fluff". this idea of uncrafting will never be something that will be implemented. it goes against the whole infl sink idea. do you even know what the word random means?
and if drops are what you want, then doing speed runs is not the thing to be doing. i understand about your "game time", but for someone complaining about not getting what they want, you are not helping yourself this way. in the amount of time you have to play, you can do 2 mission arcs either through regular contacts or through ouro and get a very decent amount of merits. and if you want to team, make sure you are not on an ouro flashback with that toon, or pick another toon to team with. that way you can go back to whatever you were doing at your own pace.
i think your problem is you are trying to cram to much into the amount of time you have. -
Quote:why don't you go read one of the many threads about this subject. infact, one was linked. go read that. i also have given 2 market spots for both sides that are barely used by anyone. i would go along with the idea of a separate room, but trying to make the open markets powerless would result in some problems. mainly when traveling over them. They mint say they would, but I doubt it. It is not earth shattering or game breaking.
We don't need our powers there, we need a higher capability to handle many people in the same spot, by as many people as possible. When I go to WW during the high activity times with my laptop (a powerful laptop though) I have problems. I can only imagine what someone running on next to minimum is experiencing.
Also, if they really don't like the idea, state WHY you don't; otherwise well you have no support to your argument.

Quote:i really don't see that as market manipulation. all they are doing is buying things from the market. they are not relisting them at a higher cost. and if they are getting them that cheap then that means everybody else is bidding less then that. see it as you will, but there are various other means of getting what you want without having to use the markets. and your idea is not one of them that i would ever want to see implemented.

Your right I don't, but it seems they do. I think you can do your own searching in that forums for other similar threads. -

this was to funny. wonder if the bear made it or not. go super cow!!!
and in other related news...

Quote:well, they already did. all anyone has to do is type /arenalist in their chat box.
Add an arena, if people are actually interested in PVPing. -
Quote:it is not just us that say you are wrong. it is the forum rules and guidelines that say you are wrong. that is why we have that neat little search feature. the only time to start a new thread is if the newest one you find is over 3 months old. then you can start a new thread and link the old.Thank you for the suggestions. Your assumption that I did not search before posting is
incorrect. 7 pages into a search for "suppression" I found a thread started by
Hyperstrike. I believe that with enough threads on the subject someone may eventually
pay attention. You may believe I am wrong, and I'm willing to accept that you may be
right. -
no. /unsigned. and i PvP. this is not something the community as a whole would ever want.
-
Quote:starting a new thread before searching does no good. and very rarely do the devs come down to this section. if the noises are bothering you then turn down your game sound fx. or you could find a market that isn't used that much. on hero side i would say KR and Steel are the least used. on vill's i would say that PO and St. Martial are the least used.I work in a bank. You can't come in this building while talking on a cell phone, or with
any kind of hat or even sunglasses on. It is quiet, and people do their business in
peace. I guess I am leaking real world expectations into the game, and for that I
apologize. I did not want any drama, I just wanted to express a suggestion for folks to
consider turning off some of their toggles and pets while doing business in Wentworths.
I hoped by starting a new thread that someone who could do something about it would
take note and start a discussion toward making all sides comfortable with any changes. -
they already had that. then decided to move it to an outside contact. this was on red side. and you still can do that with any base. just put in an ouro crystal and whamo, you can start teams in your base.
-
Quote:i have seen my share of quitters on the red side also.Blueside has the quitters. Just stay away from Blueside. Also, finding people via /search usually keeps teams together longer. Broadcast PuGs tend to leave very quickly.
jade, welcome to the game and may you have better luck in the future. -
Quote:can i get a /FACEPALM??? seriously, someone let me borrow their best /facepalm.Um I'm pretty sure a samuria could easil slice throgh a knights armor + swords in 1 slash. Katans are just so much suprerior that Europ is luck they never fought with japan back in the medevial age.
you are so wrong even if you clicked your heals together 3 times and said there's no place like home you would still end up in a different universe.
edit: that sword is teh shizznit. i wonder if the most interesting man in the world has one in his collection? -
better idea. take out one stick of ram and try it. if it doesn't work, take ou that one and stick in the other. if it still doesn't work, safe bet that it is the motehr board.

Quote:the PvP'ers are not there to stop you from getting the rewards. they are they to, dare i say it, PvP. if the devs took those rewards and moved them to PvE they wouldn't be anywhere near as good as they are. that is part of the risk vs reward aspect of the game. if you do not like the risk, then do without the reward.NEVER did I say that there was anything that CAN NOT be done without them. That does NOT mean that they do not have a place in PvE.
If one can not have them without subjecting themselves to PvP, then only PvPers can have them. That is the PvPers' entire rationale for why it is perfectly acceptable to kill people trying for these things. The fact that they AGREE TO PvP as soon as they enter the zone. What is fallacious about that?
Quote:Sure, they're big zones. If all I wanted to do was hide. If you want to accomplish something you have to make yourself vulnerable to getting no gain for a lot of time wasted. -
Quote:name one thing that absolutely can not be done without them.
Shivans and nukes, however have a very real place in PvE.
Quote:Why is it that only PvPers can have these goodies? PvPers will say that anyone can have them but what they really just said is that anyone can play the game their way (become a PvPer). -
there seems to be a bug with the credit counter. on a brand new out of the box sg which had only been started for 1 day, we had 246 kills towards the 250 for PvP. no one had been PvP'ing. when 2 of us went in and killed each other the counter reset to the correct amount of kills.
-
Quote:first off, this statement is completely false. you have no clue what you are talkign about.
The market is too easily manipulated.
Quote:As for the merit system, sadly that systems clashes with the grouping system in this game. So either I need to solo a story arc to get my merits or they need to fix it so a group could get merits for doing missions.
Quote:I recall them saying...
lastly, the invention system is an INFLUENCE SINK. it is working as intended. -
Quote:i... /facepalm. anything goes in PvP. those are the rules. read the box that pops up when you enter the PvP zone.I Have a Dream that all little Pvp Players and all the little Pve Players will one day get together and be friends..........Who am I kidding that never going to happen.
Why I tell you, Pvper will hunt anything in Pvp Zone, If you go for Nukes or Shivans you will will be attack.
If you go for Badges you will be hunting down and get it up the............ummm well you no what I mean.
AV Hunt in RV on a Server big on Pvp like Freedom will be Harass and Assaulted by Griefers
When these two group gets together there nothing but Drama and fighting, you can't reason with Pvpers, I should no because i am one.
What we got to do is Set things up some both can go together with out Harassing or any conflict, Badges Whores need there badges, Raid people need there Nukes and Shivan.
I Like to see like a system that either sets you up for pvp right alwayfor Pvp Zone or sets you up for Pve, so no one can kill each other any more, there been to much killing and to much blood has Spilled.
I don't no what type of System, Maybe a Flag system to flag you for Pvp, Once you enter, you be set up for pvp and if you want you can disable it so you can hunt for badges or a Queue System to join into Pvp, So there be no more Assault on each other.
Can't we all just get along.
