i don't know rach. i use any infl/inf i don't need on my 50's to support my lower toons. i also try to hold cc's to give away some infl/inf. i haven't really seen any of these going on lately though. i think thae thing that drives "farming" is the high prices, which comes from peoples greed which we won't be able to change. like i said, people see that one really high sale out of 5 listings and post it for the high price because greed took over rather then listing it for a reasonable price that the, and i hate to use this term but, "casual gamer" can afford. of course i also think that only about 20% of the population is using the markets. so basically selling back and forth and pushing out the non( or casual ) market user.

rachel, im not trying to ruffle your feathers here, but did it ever occur to you that the inflation is comming from people "flipping" things in the market? in the course of the last 3-4 months there have been many people asking how people are making so much money and this is how it is done. but becasue people are to lazy to find their own "niche" they cut into other peoples which causes inflation. the markets have begun to stabalize except for salvage, which i am trying to cure by rolling salvage instead of recipes. i think it is rediculous that common salvage has hit the 100k mark and over. it also kills me that since day 1 of i14 there have been about 100 threads or so that have popped up by the anti-farming crowd.
this is the new shinney of the month. it will slow down. of course with the amount of greed that people have, when you see that 1 sale for a high price, naturaly you're going to post it for that much. maybe if people had a sense of less is more, then this wouldn't be under discussion. i can gaurantee that i can make more selling for less then someone selling for high. why you ask? becasue my stuff will move faster then the higher priced stuff. don't let greed take over. -
the problem is that prestige doesn't show how active or how friendly an sg is. and as such, rank should not be based off of prestige. seriously, i can take my vg and have everyone in it "farm" prestige till they're blue in the face, but that isn't being fair to them. nor is it being fair the the rank system. it is a falible way to get people to join what they think is a fun, social sg/vg.

It's a simple quality of life improvement we need. I'm tired of setting the Top 100 SGs to list by prestige and then counting them to find out where a SG belongs. Number them already!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll echo the "who cares?" comment.
The only metric by which the game ranks a SG is Prestige earned. What makes a quality Supergroup is a large number of factors that can be quite subjective and have nothing to do with the amount of Prestige the group has earned.
Since Prestige can't be used for anything but building and improving a base, anything a SG earns beyond that is just gravy. What do I care if group X can grind Prestige faster, better, longer, than group Y, especially if Group X is led by a control freak who demands that members show up to Task Force Grind three days a week so that they can stay on the top of the Prestige pile, and Group Y is populated by people who are fun to play with, just not as driven.
I've always considered the Supergroup rankings to be another meter by which insecure people compare e-peens in some sort of nerd dominance struggle. SG ranking has absolutely no bearing on whether I join a SG. The only thing that matters to me is that I like the members and that they are fun to play with.
As a counter to your suggestion, I suggest that they eliminate SG Rankings altogether so that people pimping their Supergroups have to describe the true virtues of their Group, instead of just spamming "Rouge Angles of Mercy, top 5 SG, looking for members, pst for application."
On the other hand, I can't imagine inviting anyone to join my SG until I have played a few missions with them so I can see how well they play and how they would get along with the other members.

^ this exactly. -
you probably get more then the standard amount because patrol xp isn't used unless you die in a regular MA mission in which it is used against the debt. and you can "farm" a DC. depending on map size. but that makes as much sense as doing it with the regular dev created stuff.
-
patrol xp only gives you 1.5 times the xp. not double. and if you play a dev's choice arc, you don't get tickets, you get regular drops.
-
im not against the idea, so i hope i didn't offend you. if you already pm'd then leave it at that. i really don't see a need for trial accounts to be able to send email at all either. i do get sick of seeing it myself but, just to be funny here, i do find it funny to see who is offering the most for the least.
-
trip, this can be considered spam posting since there have been at least 10 of these type of posts in the last week or so. just pm a dev already with the idea. it's obvious that they aren't reading it here.
-
have you gone through the MA at all? there is plenty for a 50 to do there. andbefore you even start with the whole "farm" thing, there are plenty of good arc's in there that aren't farming. you can also use your 50 to join teams that are running regular content ta that lv. badges, badges, badges. and you do realize when you exemp you dont loose slots so it makes running the lower content a bit more fun. again, there is plenty of stuff ot keep a 50 busy unless you're playing 24/7 which isn't healthy.
-
there is plenty to do with your io'd out toon. you can run tf/sf's on invincible, or go PvP'ing. just because you hit 50 and completely io'd out your toon doesn't mean you have to shelf her. of course you could always make a new toon and go back to her when you need a break from the new toon. also, have you done everything possible with that toon like all of the story arcs by going through ouroboros. many many things can still be done with her.
you can also use her to finance your lower lv toons and build up io sets for when the new toon hits 50. plenty, plenty, plenty of stuff to do. -
im going to humor you here: i play the game for these reasons:
A: good way to relax after a hard days work.
B: good way to relieve stress.
C: to keep in touch with family and friends who i dont live around anymore.
see not once did i say because i like it or becasue it was cool. i do like the game but is not the main reason why i play. -
i have to go with Aett on this one. with a set maitenance time, everyne knows when the servers will go down. and i do have to agree that there are very few people at the hrs they have chosen. i've done 24 hr stints where i struggle at that time to find a team.

The enemy AI is pretty dumb. To compensate, they get to 'cheat' with some powers. I'm fine with this, as it makes them a bit more challenging than they would be otherwise. Usually, once an enemy drops out of his tier-9 power, he's dead shortly thereafter, so I really don't see much of a need to penalize them any more.

^ this. -
if it maitenance happens more then 2 times a week it is because of patching to fix bugs. no need to complain about it.
-
psst, this belongs in the player questions section. have a mod move it for ya.
-
give me one good reason, not because you want it or it would be cool, that this would be needed. our toons already out perform the game as is. and the whole reason that we can't get the signature powers is just that. they're signature powers for npc's.
and next time come up with an entire well thought out and written idea that we can have something to discuss rather then heres my idea now fill in the details. -
dont quote me but i think it cuts down on the durration time of the slow effect. just like the staus resistance io's.
-
i challenge you with my fire/ss tank. guarantee you wont beat it. not many can. only thing that comes to mind is a decked out well played MM.
-
tickets for teams will be fixt tomorrow, or so they say.
-
speak for yourself about wanting more powers. how can you not understand how much inbalance this would cause? if you use io sets, it actually makes you more powerful. *gasp*. adding more powers and trying to state that special io's or trianing wont cause a balance issue is like saying that using paper armor will stop a bullet.
-
yeah, i think the patch that was suppossed to fix the tickets on teams made it worse. and honestly, the bonus tickets at the end should be split evenly not this one got 100 tickets and this one got 30.
-
so everyone downloaded sp2(which is still in beta) for vista. first clue should be the word BETA. it is still being tested. it is not complete. if anyone hasn't noticed or doesn't remember, the issues running the game on vista came after Cryptic left and NC put out i12. before i12 bugs were limited and taken care of in a timely fassion. now, there are still bugs floating around since i12.
-
i have a fire/fire tank av set to extreme. 1 brute and 2 fire/psy took him down. took a bit but it happened. as long as there is some sort of control or 2 on the team they'll be fine.
-
yeah but 200+ baddies spawning in a tiny room would cause crashing. i know your being humorous with that suggestion. at least i hope so. lol. but if that were to happen noone would run the trials.
-
it is hasten and healing flames i notice this with mostly. and it happens right from loggin sometims. the power is most definately recharged to. i know HF comes up for me on my tank every 12-13 secs so i have watched that carefully.
