Architect What it is, and what it is not.
Architect is...
A tool for creating customised missions.
A way to use the costume creator without going to Icon or rolling a new toon.
Architect isn't...
Going to let us drop into maps for RP without there being any mobs around.
Going to give us all the flexibility we want.
As I see it, the biggest single advantage that architect will grant to RPers is as a "GMing" tool for people running plots - you could quite easily craft a mission including a boss-type of your choice, with glowies available to trigger patrols and ambushes (defined before going in as GM tools or normal glowies). The clues and dialog can be used to further the plot, and the "GM" can take the part of characters on the fly when things deviate from the script (I say "when" in the certain knowledge that they will).
Gone can be the days of saying "Having listened to the conversation, I snipe at Ebil Bad Guy" - the "GM" can just click an appropriate glowie, and everyone can head to wherever Ebil Bad Guy spawns to have a real scrap with him.
I like the idea of being able to write my own story arcs, sure... but I like the idea that I'll be able to create missions specifically to cater to a plot a whole lot more. -
We're not getting it on the shelves in shops, but GR certainly implied that there would be codes to purchase from the store.
Which says to me that it will work in a similar way to the way the MAC client did - buy the code, get a month of game-time and a code for one of the superboosters. -
I've created this as a separate thread in its own right, as I don't think it's necessarily appropriate for other threads to be filled up with this stuff.
This thread is for discussing the Architect game feature as it applies to RP; Hints, tips and tricks for creating RP missions in Architect; Discussion of specific missions and their use for RP.
I would prefer (once I14 has gone live) that notification of Architect Plot Missions either get another thread (RP Architect Missions Notification?) or that each mission get its own thread.
Take it away... -
I think it's because Atlas Park is the focus of a lot of things, to be honest.
What does Atlas have?
Trainer.
City Hall (cape and aura mishes)
Wentworths
The Atlas Statue (an obvious focal point, since it's the first thing you see if you choose Atlas as your starting zone)
A large plaza with a LOT of flat space and no enemy spawns.
Yellow Line station a short hop from the plaza.
What does Mercy have? (this is an honest question - I'm another player who really isn't a fan of villains, so I actually don't know)
I think the biggest lack is actually the large flat plaza near the original zoning-in spot with no enemy spawns nearby. The rooftop in Mercy is just too small to have several dozen characters hanging around on it and still not actually getting in the way of people visiting the trainer or the vendors or the contacts. -

Murder mystery arc series where the hero is a regular detective. Of course, this'd be more effective if we can somehow choose to make missions with very very few (if any) mobs in them, and more emphasis on exploration and Clues.
[/ QUOTE ]
Something that sprang to mind for this is "non-glowing glowies". They would require a Clue drop elsewhere in the mission, but that clue would then offer a hint to finding a "no-glow-glowie" elsewhere in the mission, similar to that hidden items in the Midnighter Club. -
McAfee is what my wife runs on her machine, and it needs to reverify CoX on the "Allowed" list every single time CoX updates, and sometimes after McAfee has updated. Worth taking a dig through the permissions and checking that both the updater and the CoH .exe files are allowed (though it sounds like the updater is). Update all your drivers, get the latest version of DirectX, and get McAfee to run a full scan on your system while it's disconnected from the internet. If none of that works, support ticket is your friend, but you might want to download PingPlotter and check that you can reach the EU servers (GR posted the IP address for the server node a while ago when there were lots of problems after I12).
-
Taking a rough guess, it will work like the Mac "box" that was released recently.
So, we go onto PlayNC and buy the code for "The CoX: Architect Edition" game and apply that as an upgrade to our existing accounts. That gives us a free month of game time. In addition we will be given a code as part of buying that code that allows us to access one of the booster packs. -

Not really, as bases stop existing the moment you log out. They're instances, not part of the scenery. That's why you appear beside the Base Portal whenever you log out while inside the base.
[/ QUOTE ]
Adendum: Provided that you used a base portal to enter the base in the first place. If you used a Base Teleport power to enter the base, your logout location is wherever you were standing when you used the power. -
Welcome to the game and the forum!
The advice you've already been given is spot-on, so I won't bother reiterating it here. As far as the friendliness of this forum is concerned - we tend to be a pretty friendly bunch. There are a few flaming arguments that crop up every once in a while (mentioning the-current-state-of-PvP/Farming/Power-Levelling seems bring out the worst in many people here), but we know that newbies like yourself (as already said - you're not a n00b. You simply can't be, because you're clearly interested in learning what you can) are a source of even more enjoyment of our favourite game.
I'm @Shadowe or @Luminescence on Union server, one of the heathen Roleplayers that pop up every now and then. I'm happy to give general advice, too. -
Thought I'd let you know how to create a placeholder text for a link on the forums
The format you used is basically as follows:
[ url = ]http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot2009022101350.jpg]
http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot2009022101350.jpg[ / url] (without the spaces in the bits in square brackets).
All you have to do is change the bit that's NOT in square brackets to whatever you want it to say.
So, if you want that to be "TP Room Picture 1", you need the following syntax:
[ url = http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?ima...9022101350.jpg ] TP Room Picture 1[ / url]
Removing the spaces inside the square brackets (which I have only included so that it doesn't actually write the link) you get:
TP Room Picture 1 -
I think it's an easy guess, actually.
Consider:
1) EU NC is now mostly marketing and sales.
2) EU NC's budget has probably been slashed.
3) EU NC know what's coming in the future.
The only reason I can conceive of for not spending the time and money to print, box and ship this new disk is... there'll be another one coming later on in the year that they are going to be putting on shelves, and they need to save budget for it.
Expansion, perhaps? -
And if you don't believe us, how about hearing it from GhostRaptor himself?
... deserve an answer... tsk! Some people are really full of themselves. -

Considering this is Ni, and knowing what I know about the character, I think a look of contempt would suit her better - slightly narrowed eyes, head tilted a smidgeon and a tiny condescending smirk on her lips. But that's just me.

No, no, no... we're only allowed to talk about talking off-topic. -

Hey, Avatea, and welcome back. I've seen you a few times at a few events, where I'm usually being trailed around by one or two people.
I hope you enjoy your time dealing with us rampant reprobates, and please don't listen to everything GR says about me... especially if he (or anyone else, for that matter) makes any references to kangaroos. -
Not allowing us to do IOMs would be a pain, but only a minor one, to me, because there are even fewer maps for them than there are for IIMs. I'm still working on what I want to achieve from my arcs, so I'm not sure how restricting that would be to me.
Having said that, though, I believe FFM is correct in most respects, except I'm sure that the word "virtually" was included before "all maps"... there's some wriggle room for the devs.

Easy is not for the jedi.
Or, as my wife would put it: Just because logically it would be easy, does not mean that the implementation with computer code would be easy. In fact, it might be more complex, prone to bugs and harder to use than what we have now. -

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.
My position is 'potentially redundant' within the Brighton office, and at the current time I intend to accept voluntary redundancy. I'm not interested in living in the US.
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn. Sorry, Alex. I hope that the "potentially" doesn't mean "certainly", but in these times we live in...
[/ QUOTE ]
The "Potentially" in that means "If you take up a job in the US, you'll probably still have a job. Otherwise, you're redundant and you can either leave now, or wait out your notice period". -

But it could also be the frantic efforts of a business about to go under to stave off liquidation.

Mmm... well, NCSoft's last quarterly earnings report wasn't exactly a picture of booming success - to say the least - but it wasn't a picture of imminent total collapse either.
Interestingly, the report for the last quarter should be out any day now...

Independent sources indicate that it's within the next 4 days. Or is it today? -
Hope it all works out for you, squire.

He's also hungry.
