  1. While not having read any of the books myself, I have always come to believe that almost always no matter how faithful an adaptation is....it is just that, an adaptation. The shows that are based on books are more likely to skip over and or compress things down just for the sake of time.

The same thing can be said for The Walking Dead....while an excellent show in its own right, the comic books are different and just as good.

In the end what I am saying, is if you are going to make the commitment to read the books, start at the beginning, you will be glad that you did!

When my Grandfather passed the family found an old dresser under a bunch of other crap that was filled with coins. There were so many when we opened one drawer the bottom fell out from the weight.

When my aunt passed away we found War Bonds from WWII that she had stashed away and forgot about.

I think what's more surprising is the amount of valuable items that get thrown or given away because people assume it's junk.

That is too frigging true and also very sad.....

Per wikipedia (I know you can not always trust what is on there...still):

The White Power Battery was taken to Qward and has since been returned to Earth (Brightest Day iss 22) and after locating the Chosen One (Alec Holland who becomes the new Swamp Thing) that will take its place, the Entity and the White Power Battery left for parts unknown (Brightest Day Iss 24).
    [end wikipedia bit]

So I guess what is being said here is that there really was no time to actually set up an "oath". Besides there aren't currently any White Lantern members on earth at the moment (I think, don't hold me too that).

oh and by the way....here is a handy website that has all the "current" Lantern Corps Oaths...

btw, this is the Green Lantern Wikia notice all the variations on the Green Lantern Oath...interesting.

just remember that Sevenpenny hooked you up!
  4. I think it is awesome that stuff like this continues to be discovered. I am glad because we the public get to view the heritage (I am guessing that would be correct) of baseball and get to see some of the greats who played. It is fantastic that these cards managed to survive in the condition that they have for all these years. The right thing was done by placing as many of them as possible into protective card holders.

On a personal note...I happen to like this type of sports card (called Tobacco Cards), for whatever reason they are more interesting than their larger counterparts....

    Beacons...

Will it ever be possible to add Villain side beacons (and vice versa) in a Hero side base? Now that we have the ability to "visit" the villain side and even Praetoria (will there ever be beacons for Praetoria?). Now that we have hacked telepads where we can add up to 6 zones, I believe that we would be able to have 8 or 10 hacked telepads in a base for all the locations. I know it only takes 4 hacked telepads for the hero side beacons.....

I am asking because I do not believe that I have seen anything regarding this. If there has been something addressing this please direct me to it. Thanks!

    Opossums....

The interesting thing about opossums is that they cannot be poisoned!

...and yes...I posted this in the for science thread, however I felt like this was really interesting and needed to be posted in the general comic and culture section.....so sue me! j/k about the suing part....
  13. How about trying to poison an opossum?

    nope can not be done!

    Jon Benjamin....

Started watching Jon Benjamin Has a Van (on Netflix) and omg....hilarious! This is the same guy that voices Sterling Archer (on the tv show Archer) and if you listen you can actually hear Archer....lol

  16. So....some one(s) had to do a narrative on superhero movies since 2000. So I guess superhero movies before then don't count? I was always of the belief that most movies (counting documentaries when I say most) are made for the audience to escape reality for a couple of hours... Not once have I watched a fictional movie and for some reason believed that it actually happened in the land of the real. There will ALWAYS be those that feel that the movie did not stay true to the roots of the subject matter and point out every single flaw in the friggin thing. As I said above I watch movies to escape reality for a couple of hours. Lord knows my life is not all that exciting and perhaps quite a bit too mundane. At any rate, this piece by the NY Times is a couple of peoples opinions and should be treated as such.

okay okay....my brain was on auto pilot when I typed in the title. Perhaps I should have gone with who is instead of whose....yes yes I know who's works too....
  18. This....this is truly a shame. Borgnine was truly one of the greats in acting and he was not one of the "pretty" faces either. He made it in hollywood because he knew his craft. I know that he will be sorely missed.

    RIP Ernest Borgnine.....

may your friends and family find comfort in their time of mourning....

  21. Ron Perlman is an awesome human being for doing this. I don't know how many other actors would have done this.
  22. Furby! Thats right Furby....

and all I can say is this...
  23. It sounds like they need someone to keep track of the official lore of CoX.....Just to avoid inconsistancies such as the above mentioned....If no one else wants to do it, I will!
  24. The only other place I have lived that is hotter than where I am now...was Apache Junction Arizona.....woof! Talk about walking out the front door and having your breath taken away by a blast of hot air! That was even in the shade....

    Pads....

As in elbow and knee pads...would it be possible to have these added in game?
