I've been impressed with the story you are developing...it certainly looks good and seems interesting.
I'll admit that I wasn't huge fan years ago, but as I've read more and more, I have really come to enjoy pulp hero stories/comics. I was really impressed with some of Roy Thomas' All-star Squadron stuff when he focused on the more pulp heroes like Crimson Avenger and Sandman. Also, Howard Chaykin's take on the Shadow made me read up on him some years back. Plus, the idea of Lee Falk's Phantom was pretty cool.
I guess my point is that this is pretty neat, especially given that comics nowawdays are focused on such a different feel. Its nice to see someone working in this style again.
Anyhow, thumbs up and good luck. -
Nicely done! There's a few elements I see developing in your style, intentional or not, that are coming to the forefront:
*Clearly hairstyle plays a part in the work, plus the use of rounded facial features reminds me of Jamie Hewlett's stuff.
There's certainly an anime' quality there - especially in the eyes. I am reminded more of Koichi Arai's stuff - who tends to have a more human feel - not the stylized stuff.
Just my thoughts on this...hope it's helpful. -
This is a great piece! I really like the combinations of reds & orange blends. As I've said before, the level of detail work you put in is pretty amazing, and you manage a great palette of colors with the pencils.
The line work on this one kind of reminds me of Erol Otis' work - the slight angularity of her face and hair, I think. I hope you don't mind comparasons like this...I intend it in a positive way.

..and thanks for all the compliments on the pose, but I swear I just googled for stripper poles... *ducks and runs*))

P.S. - I 'm so glad you mentioned this.I had been thinking it since you first showed us the line-art - but didn't want to sound crass. Of course, now that it's been said:
Whoa! Hot Stuff! -
-
As I recall mentioning....I knew kissy-face was involved!
Seriously, it's a great piece and nicely done!
I'd like to know the story behind it as well....but I'm sure that's for another day, eh? -
I wanted to add to the circle of praise and say this is an awesome piece! A couple of things that stick out to me:
*Maybe its because you work in watercolors, but the image has a displaced quality - to me that works great because it conveys a sense of discomfort you would associate with villains. It just adds a greater sense of evil.
*I was impressed with the fine reflection properties you did on Ghost Widow's armor, espeically the chest piece and armbands. Its pretty amazing to be able to notice the greens from the leather, plants, and even some of the reddish glow.
Anyhow, that's my thoughts. Great work! -
Some great characters there! Like a few others, I have been meaning to gather my alts up for a lineup shot.
Stormengine, Painslave - love those names and the look is pretty cool!
Reptilectric - This one is nicely done! Evil looking, and a creative approach to what I am guessing is an electric tanker.
Machine Mistress - interesting look there - didn't realize you could use the robot legs like that. Robot Mastermind?
Ms. Glacier - Just reminds me of a female wrestler.
Expose Core - I just have to comment that I don't think her core is what's exposed there. -
I've noticed a couple of your videos now. This one is pretty creative in the use of the song and effects.
Nice job! -
Looks like we'll be seeing some kissy face
Seriously, looks like a nice start. -
Very nicely done!
Your pieces have a painted canvas feel to some extent...very interesting. Reminds of the character portraits that were done for the Icewnd Dale series (the computer game not the book series). The artist's name escapes me right now, but I think its the washed colour quality.
Anyhow, that's my two cents. -
You have some great art, especially in the level of detail and color that you have done. I know many people feel Photoshop and computer media is the way to go, but your pencil and Primsacolor work stands out just as well.
I don't know if you've heard of her, but your stuff also reminds of some Ne'Ne' Thomas' early works.
I don't know that I can add anything - the black background provides a nice contrast to a mainly light image - but I can see where you might lose some of the small "radiation" lines from her hands, in terms of details. My suggestions might be a lighter fill color - something in the blues or greys to contrast the image while allowing little things to maybe be visible.
Anyhow, that's all I got. -
Congratulations, good sir! We salute your efforts!
Great art contest. -
*Smells something burning in the Dryer*
*Pulls out lint-trap*

If you hit print screen, two things happen:
1) An image file is stored, sans name, UI, etc, in the screenshots file of City of in your hard drive.
2) The image is also saved to the clipboard, and this one is literally a copy of the screen, with names, UI, chatscreen, etc. present. To have any of this information visible in an image, go to an image program (such as MS Paint or another) immediately after hitting Print Screen (mainly becuase you will lose it if you make further screenshots). Then either use the paste command or hit Ctrl-V to take it from the clipboard to program. Save the file and you can go back to playing.
Hope that helps and makes sense.
PS - Apparently on Miss Informed's PC, Cyndi Lauper rulez.
Girl's just wanna have fun, eh? -

My suggestions:
1) Have a mechanical or robotic character (like Iron) getting a "tuneup" akin to a car. Maybe a mechanic (or perhaps any one with a tinkerer or scientist hero-type) is working on a limb like it was tire that needed fixing while the hero chills with a can of motor-oil, etc.
2) Any heroine with the skirt costume(Aurora ) doing a light-hearted imitation/homage of Marilyn Monroe's blown " skirt-lift " from the Seven Year Itch...or something similar. Too racy? -
Transplant, although its been 8 or 9 years, so I'm starting to go "native" as it were.
Texan by birth...yee ha! -
Apologies if I de-railed the thread. The topic is: Look at this cool picture! Its neat!

A cat with squirrel DNA.
And pyschic powers.

Congratulations...you managed to have me do a spittake and get a headache simultaneously. I blame the psychic powers.
P.S. Upon further review of the picture....Rowr is definetly Betty in that image while Hemily is Veronica...lol!
And yes, I'm probably a Jughead for even making that suggestion. I blame the Psychic Squirrel and not enough sleep. -
A confused squirrel...but then...metaphorically...aren't we all?
-
Well, DJ...you done an amazing job once again! I am hardly one to critique in the realm of 3D art, so I'll leave that to you experts.
The back story here just makes it all the more amazing...its got an "amazing fanboy" and "life is funny" quality all in one.
Great stuff all around. -
Whew...I was afraid I was out of line for making commentary...I tend to be of the "look, but don't touch(or comment)" mindset. I'm worried I'll get the "Who the hell are you?" look/response and might mess it up. The detail is such that I have been very impressed, and I think that's why I noticed it at all.
I feel like I'm babbling now, so....carry on! -
Correct..2 episodes.
Nick of Time
Nightmare at 20,00 feet
Looks like I better break out the black horn-rimmed glasses and my pocket protector...lol.
