  2. A lot more interesting than just watching planes swooping around.

  3. There's 2 ways to play with Set IOs:

    - mix and matching individual pieces from different Sets to maximize the attribute boost numbers on a per power basis (called "frankenslotting" in forum slang) or

    - collecting enough of the pieces of a Set to get the Set's set bonuses you want. Note: you don't need get/use all 6 pieces of a Set all the time. Since individual set bonuses are dinky, typically, you'll be trying to collect the same set bonuses from several Sets for several powers. So that when they're stacked, you'll get an extra SO or more boost that applies to every relevant power in your build. Most people work on getting +defense, +recharge, +accuracy, or +recovery.

As others have said, there will be trade offs, but that's what makes build design interesting. Decisions will have to be made and compromises taken. Then after a few months, you'll read something and then you'll want to rebuild to try it.

Note: unless you have a huge stash of Inf, you may want to build based on what Set IO pieces you can realistically get a hold of. For most beginners, this usually means going with a frankenslotted build until you can afford better. If you're not in a rush and have a personal SG Base where you can store enhancements in, you can try putting in bids at the Market ahead of when you need them.

  5. Don't you get auto-kicked if you join another SG (after switching sides)? Your position in your original SG is just on hold in case you switch back.
  6. Most of the recruiting are done on the global chat channels, so you don't need to be out and about to be listening in on the grape vine.
  7. What do you do on regular missions when someone runs off to do their own thing? You don't go looking for them and you don't chase them. You ignore them. On these Trials, your team mates, along with the rest of the league, may be pretty spread out during certain phases. Ignore them and dont' sweat it. Only deal with whoever is in your immediate vicinity, whether they are your team mates or not. Apply the individual buff when you have time in between whatever else you're doing. If someone wants a buff, they come to you.
  8. Speaking of Marauder's drink, is that thing strapped to his left forearm a bottle holder?

I forgot to quote this on my earlier response that the lines are from the lights. You see the lines move in the Sewers because those hanging lights there have a slight swing to them.

And the lines have been showing for a long time. I used to hover snipe in my sewer missions during my early soloing days. In addition, I noticed that the light lines showed up particularly clearly at the outer corridors in Pocket D when Day Jobs were new and I started parking my characters there. I never got around to bugging that.
  10. I suspect what you are seeing are the outlines of the light cone from the overhead directional lights as they intersect the plane of the ground.
  11. I experienced the problem for the first time yesterday while at my work computer. I thought something was forum maintenance or something, but I didn't see anybody comment about it during the moments when I was able to get through. I did come across Zombie Man's thread later on. I was fine when I got home. Both use Chrome. I haven't had a problem today at work, though.

In my opinion, at the highest level, I see:
    • Damager
    • Controls
    • Buffer

Damager is obvious and Buffer is anything that makes an ally more effective or survivable.

Controls is the tricky one because it encompasses:
    • enemy aggro management (taunt, gauntlet , provoke, or just threat level)
    • enemy disablement via mezzing (shut down with stuns, holds, sleeps and fears)
    • enemy movement hinderance (immobs, slows, knock downs, knock ups, repels)
    • debuffing enemy effectiveness (-tohit, -def, -res, -dam, -regen, -recov)
  14. Those non-useful Tabs have been peeving me too. I second the motion!

    Purple Set IO's

Well, each piece in a Purple IO set is unique, but you don't have to put all of them into one power. You can slot 2 different pieces of the Set into 3 powers to get 3 instances of the 1st Set Bonus or 3 different pieces into 2 powers or a 4/2 split into 2 powers.
  16. Do you know if there's any chance that it'll be available on Kindle?
  17. In terms of the warehouse maze, you need to keep your mini-map open so you can see the layout as it is revealed. The meleers will rush in, probably split up, and do their own thing. If you're a squishie, then band together with the other squishes to slowly fight your way in. Get some drops for the team while the others are getting the objectives. Eventually one of the meleers will over aggro and die or a crate is just too heavily defended. Set that as your interim goal for squishie squad to work towards.

And as Gameboy says, the only way for you to learn the TF is to play it and observe. The warehouse maze seems to be a fixed layout from the few times I've played it, so eventually, you'll get familiar with it like all the other maps in this game.

Still, I am puzzled as to why the League would take notice of you in particular out of the crowd that is the League and kick you. Are you making yourself stand out by complaining? If so, then I'm going to politely suggest that you keep quiet and go with the flow until you learn the Trial.

As to the enemies being "too high", that's the entire point of the high level "End Game". All the enemies are 54, but that's no different than the Rikti Mothership Raid, the Statesman TF, and the Lord Recluse SF. If the enemies are too easy, then what's the point of it being an End Game? What's the point of achieving additional powers?

I assume that you do have the Alpha Slot, right? Perhaps you should work on that first to get the +1 level shift, then you'd only be facing +3s.
  18. I've experienced this bug for a few months now. I think it started with Issue 19. It really sucked when it happened with the last mission of a LGTF once. A couple of times, including that LGTF, it wasn't just me. Another team mate couldn't get in either.

After waiting for the load to fail to "loss connection to map server" and re-logging back in, I've tried going to other zones (no problem) and interacting with store NPCs (no problem), but I still couldn't get into that mission door.

    The next mission is fine.

Just within the past couple of weeks, I have met the bug on my SG Base portal. The first time I didn't recognize the bug, I thought it was a bug with the Base portal itself. So I logged in 3 different characters (so 4 total) and all could not enter the Base portal. I took one of the characters to a different zone and still could not entire the Base portal. By the way, these were all villain characters. So for completeness sakes, I logged in a hero character and it was able to enter my hero Base. (All were the same server.) At this point, I sent in a petition. And wouldn't you know it? Right after I sent in the petition, I was able to enter my villain base!

My hindsight conclusion is that entering the hero base, similar to entering a different mission door, cleared what ever bit was causing the problem with the original Base "door".
  19. I haven't tried recently, but I usually try to get at least 2 blocks away and be out of line of sight before attempting to use the Mission Teleporter. I do know that half a block and out of line of sight isn't good enough.
  20. FYI: C2E2 Charity Auction For Japan Society Earthquake Relief
    http://www.c2e2.com/Whats-Happening/...arity-Auction/

The Chicago Comic Con and Entertainment Expo are auctioning 4 signed C2E2 2011 program guides (1 program PER auction) with all proceeds (omitting S + H) going towards the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund. The C2E2 program guide has been signed by over 45 creators...
  21. Back when I had just over a year in the game (probably), I was jogging a new character to a mission in Kings Row down by the power substations. Off in the distance, I spot some strange looking NPC running towards me. They didn't fit the usual Kings Row NPCs, so I target one to see who they were. Ah, they're Freakshow, so it's someone's ambush. Since they were on the chase, I knew that they would be totally focused on their target and would ignore me. Feeling like the veteran I am, I figure, I'll nonchalantly run through them.

As I was passing between the Freaks, my character suddenly pivoted and put a foot up one of their butts!

I had forgotten that I had Kick on auto-attack and it triggered once I got into range of the Freak that I left targeted. Needless to say, they weren't pleased to be dissed by a lowbie.
  22. How much of of the item's supply do you want to burn? A straight 88%?

  24. Yeah. I can't get in, tried several times. I went to another server to wait it out, but I see Triumph is greyed out now.
