So having just gotten my SS/Invuln Brute to 50 last weekend (hooray!), I figured I'd start trying to piece together an Invention build to try and turn the proverbial dial to 11. Thing is, as a relative Brute-noob and having hardly given either powerset much thought before, I have little idea of how best to improve upon that which is already pretty awesome. Therefore, I wanted to turn to folks here for some advice/feedback on the build, as long as some questions I had regarding this preliminary run.
* How does the Kinetic Combat: Chance For Knockdown combine with the random Knockdown in Superstrength?
* Since I'm not entirely sold on keeping Unstoppable once I get set bonuses up to snuff, what suggestions (if anything) do folks have for replacement powers?
* Similarly, is it worth keeping Maneuvers or should I try and find a replacement here, too?
* How important for Invuln's survival is it to shoot for perma-DP (IE: should I make more of an effort to try and obtain it)?
Code:Any and all feedback would be awesome. I've found the the Virtue LFG Beta channel works fairly well as a general-purpose teaming channel. All you've got to do is type this into the chat box.
/chan_join "Virtue LFG Beta"
That's usually active enough for both blueside and redside purposes, although I'll readily admit that I rarely play villains so someone else might have better perspective on that.
You could go from 20 to 50 doing nothing but task forces and trials, but it'd be a lot of repeating content over and over. I certainly can't twist your arm if that's the route you want to go, but you'd probably be better off doing a variety of content instead of strictly TFs.
Hope that helps! -
Whatever issues that folks had aside, it sounds like it's a shame that I couldn't be here. Hopefully there'll be more of these in the future? I'd love to be able to break the ice with more RPers and get back into the scene a bit after an extended RP hiatus.
-
In case you needed any further proof of the superiority of these folks?
Nemesis horse! -
I'll bring Chaos Particle - he's a Rad/Rad Defender. Additionally, my wife can bring either a Dark/SR or DB/Will Scrapper to the proverbial party.
Edit: I should probably mention names - the Scrappers in question are Breyla and Dawn Watcher, respectively. She's not sure which one she'll bring but it'll be one of those two, for sure. -
The hero team's unofficially had a Rad/Rad/Power Defender tagging along; I haven't signed up as I can't ever guarantee I'll be available, but I've been able to help melt some faces as needed.
-
I don't know if we've ever talked here or in-game, but I remember the name and the avatar, if that's any consolation. Welcome back.

Honestly? If someone wants to pay to get powerlevelled and they use broadcast to try and find someone who will powerlevel for payment, that's no skin off my back. It's their choice to pay for the service, and it's my choice to use the /ignore and global notes afterwards. I don't see a problem with that.

Hadn't heard of Virtue TFs 2010 before, so that's an option. Last I checked, though, LFG Alpha was still at capacity, so it's not really a viable choice for new people.
-
That's... actually some crazy-good advice for teaming in the wake of I19. I'll have to give that a try when I'm able to as well. Thanks for that!
-
Virtue LFG Alpha seems full, last I checked. Also, considering that the last update was four months ago, is this still accurate or have there been some changes that I'm clueless about?
-
Which respec trial are we talking about, here? I might be able to attend the first or second, but I've got nobody in range of the third one.
-
Hey! Silver-Rook! Been a long time since I had her on my roster. And the Guard makes a cameo, too? That's fantastic.
-
All I can say is look at your last thread. There have been plenty of good suggestions on things to do different and alternate avenues for good RP that you can pursue.
Hopefully, you find something to your liking soon. Whatever the case, though, good luck on your search. -
Quote:Heh. I tended to avoid red side couches anyways, on the principle that I'm always coming in from the blue side, thus presenting closer couches to get to. I suppose I have another reason now.Sephorus, welcome back! As always, beware the red side couches in the D. They're becoming sentient.

What's up, Virtue? Just figured I'd poke my head into the forums real quick and see what's been going on over the past year or so that I've been gone. How's life going around here, and what've folks been up to?
PS: Anyone who remembers me, HEYA! -

My goal was to get three characters (well, one character - just three versions of him) each to 25, for access to an extra costume slot, capes, and Ouroboros. Got my Rad/Energy Blaster and Willpower/Energy Tankers to their goal, while the Rad/Rad Defender only got to 20. However, considering I wasn't going full-tilt all weekend like I'd planned on doing, and spent a good chunk of time working on a currently-personal SG base, and did a lot of cooking and cleaning around the house, I can't say I'm too saddened about those last five levels not being obtained.
Since I honestly don't know who I ran with over the course of the weekend, if you happened to encounter Particle Driver, Particle Impact, or Chaos Particle, thanks for helping me reach my goals! I had a blast! -
It may be your $15, but it's someone elses copyrighted material. The more blatant the throwback is, the more likely it is that people will heckle you - and the more likely it is that NCSoft will end up genericing your character. Without seeing the name/bio/etc of characters in question, I couldn't tell you if you're safe or not, but in general, if someone could look at your character and say "Wow, that's [insert copyrighted character here]" rather than "Wow, that's sort of like [insert copyrighted character here", then sadly, according to the EULA, you're wrong on the matter. That's not me being condescending, mind you - that's just the way the agreement's written.

Getting your Thugs/Storm Mastermind to 50: $0
Plotting that Mastermind out in Mid's Hero Designer: $0
Realizing that you spent Double XP Weekend helping your fiancée and the wife of your groomsman unlock VEATs: Priceless.
... 'cause that's love right there. -
So far?
Cyclone Cassie: 42->45
Hoping to get her to 50 by the end of the weekend, but we shall see. Also if there's enough time, Communion Jack could use a push to 41. -

In other news, that's actually really damn handy. Good to know!
