with the same amount of money you could slot 2 toons fully. I only know one person who actually has it, a WP tank. Too bad his end is already fine and with DR that bonus is hardly noticeable.

If you only want advice from specific people, ask for them. Don't come here, point at someone and say they don't know anything. What you were given were stats.

Wait a sec those stats are wrong, lol

It gives +regen and chance for +end (20% chance for 10% end). In PvE it gives chance for health and chance for end. No +max hp, or i might actually get it.

It's not worth it though, anybody can tell you that much. Espically for a regen, since with DR it would be worthless.

These threads need to die. Instead of begging the devs to make the game easier for us, why don't we just find a way around it ourselves?
  4. also con, didn't want to quote ur big message way up there, a good dom can kill a good ele/therm if spec'd right.

Domination gives you all your end back, and you can get power sink, you can also get the Mu pet to drain their end if all yours is gone. Oh and you can get the power surge armor, which when slotted for +recovery helps a lot.

Finally, since this arguement is too basic for me to really get into it, you should hate the player spamming it, not the power. Hibernate is equal to phase, there's no way to argue that because both have different/obvious strengths and weaknesses. I have yet to see hibernate be a problem and i can't imagine how it is, even when stalkers use the hibernate/phase exploit, you should be able to kill them.

How could anyone even argue that it’s not that good as an escape power?

I’m glad you respect everyone’s right to have an opinion. Very kind of you.

I’m sure you’re referring to me saying something along the lines of stalkers being poorly designed and hurting pvp overall. It’s true that I think their poor design has aided in deterring many players from pvp over the years. That’s just an educated opinion based on years of observing stalker hate. And yes, I’ve even made suggestions in related discussions about how stalkers could have been designed better.

I don’t think they ruin the game. Like you, I’ve had a lot of fun fighting stalkers over the years, but that doesn’t mean I think the devs implementation of the AT was flawless. It certainly wasn’t.

Even in this thread, about Hibernate, we have someone crying about stalkers. So upset about stalkers he doesn't think folks should discuss anything else until the stalker issue is addressed and resolved.

    Hilarious.

If you think players sitting around encased in a block of ice for 30 seconds makes the game more fun to play, we’ll just never agree on what makes this game better. My preference is for fast paced pvp so my opinions will conflict with folks who like to slow the game down with 30 second timeouts.

I can easily argue it's not a good escape power, because it's not one to begin with. You don't escape, you merely stay in one spot and heal. The only way it could be escape is if you were a stalker, but the scrappers should have layers of caltrops (which last 45s) under the stalkers feet if that is the case.

Stalkers were designed better, when they were actually a threat. I loved building all my warzone toons to be able to counter stalkers in some way, there are plenty of ways and they were never a problem to a good player. Now they are just never a problem.

It's not something as simple as them going into ice in 30 seconds, it heals them and makes them untouchable. Those both open up new tactical windows in the battle, you can hibernate when someone uses Build up to skip all the burst, or slot it for heal so that you only need about 8 seconds to be full.
  6. well first off hibernate isn't that big of a deal, if someone goes into hibernate i wait for them to come out and then kill them. The tank is somewhat an exception but you should be able to kill any squishy within the 2 mins.

Not true at all. Two of the better doms in game still use scorpion. And a few others who only play spordically at best do as well. I would call all those players elite.

Handy power to have yes. Most powerful power in the game is a huge leap though. Stuff that I would rank far ahead of hibernate include placate proc, confuse having its own supression timer, ranged damage from melee toons, the continued busted nature of fear after all this time. There are more those are just ones I can think of right away. While I know it can be frustrating not getting a kill you think you earned, someone had to pick a specfic pool, sacrfice power choices and not be brain dead enough to turn the power on then be able to escape after standing still for 30ish seconds in front of someone. If you put someone in hiber and can not figure out how to kill them before no phase wears off you not only don't deserve the kill, you probably were not going to get it anyway.

Not sure how foten you read/post around these parts but he does kinda nerf herd. I do respect everyone's right to have an opinion to offer up suggestions. But honestly I stand by my terp's seem to have a fite klubbers mentality. He wants to balance more on the 1 v 1 scenario which imo is the reason we have this trash pvp we have atm. He has also made asinine comments about how the stalker at ruins the game and should be comepletely revisted to ever get to any point of balance in pvp. He can claim he didn't say it that way or didn't say it at all, but I will always stand by my memory when it comes to such things.

Throwing a sarcastic line on the end does one of two things, it either makes you look like a troll or clueless. Seeing I know you aren't clueless I will just leave it be.

I think the best would be some kind of tank, maybe invul for the heal, spamming vet powers, because the damage multiplier doesn't matter.
  10. I'd get caltrops, actually i have caltrops on my MA/regen.

When the zone is full of stalkers, more then 5 or so, you don't want to be fighting something without caltrops under your feet. It only takes 1 slot, which i usually slot 1 recharge IO so it's always up when i need it.

It's also nice when a stalker goes into hibernate, or if some teammate stands still too long.

Caltrops basically makes stalkers useless, because the sharks won't do much with a lot of HP and heals.
  11. If everyone thought that, every duel would be a tie.
  12. ahh ok thanks, i'll have to look over my regen again
  13. i thought the heal enhancement bonuses were affected by ED, so that extra 30% gets turned into basiclaly nothing if your already at around 98%.

Spines damage isn't good enough to kill a regen, atleast not without procs or a bunch of set bonuses.

I'm surprised you put that video up, it completly supports my view. Don't kite or run or else it's a tie. Espically with regens. In a toe-to-toe fight both can die. It doesn't matter how good the regen is, a good melee will be able to kill it. From the outside view regen looks like it's invincible, every time it's health is low it uses a heal, but actually having a regen there are plenty of times where i'm to the point of desperation where i'm just hitting anything that's up. And every match that i die, i'm always 1-3 seconds away from the next click.

It's not just with regens, any well built melee kiting from another melee shouldn't die, if they do, they need to work on their build.

Newsflash, PvP is about DPS, not DPA. No competent BS or Katana will be using it (they might have it for set bonuses) because it doesn't do much damage compared to your other attacks. On top of that, both you and your opponent will be moving around (again, I'm assuming competence here, which when dealing with you is a huge stretch) and you'll be wanting to get in the most damage you can during those brief windows when your opponent gets into melee range. Additionally, DA/Parry only provides defense against melee and lethal damage, which isn't going to help you much against most ranged toons, and will be easily ignored by any melee toon who has enough +tohit or simply kites you.

But you won't kill your opponent either, because using DA/Parry every other attack horribly lowers your DPS to the point where you'd be better just giving up (after all, you're the one who says tying sucks, so why not just sit in rest and let them beat you?).

    1. lolfiteklub
    2. Claws is terrible under any circumstance because it lacks Build Up and therefore lacks burst damage needed to take down an opponent quickly. If you want the +tohit and +damage, you need to be consistently in melee range (not gonna happen - there's that competent player thing again) and consistently hitting your opponent.

Oh, and even if you don't listen to anything else in this post, please use this as an example of how to use multi-quote and not clog the forum with multiple idiotic posts in a row.

Don't worry i read everything in the post.

If 2 melees are fighting, which they seem to be more common where i am, and they both run from eachother at low health it will be a tie. I'm absoultely positive that more then half my duels would have ended in a tie if if both me and my opponent ran when they were low health. I'm sure you disagree with this but i'd rather have a chance at winning/losing then simply tying every fight. No melee should be able to kill another melee running away with full speed SS.

See the only way to get enough damage to kill a melee (with a melee) is to stay in melee range the entire time. If you run, or even kite a little, you won't get enough damage to kill him. And if you stay out of melee range he won't do enough damage to you to kill him. Instant tie, i'm not sure if that's your idea of fun, but i like a little bit of a challenge, not knowing the outcome.

In a standing fight, DPA is all that matters. Well, no, burst is good too, i've seen an energy melee brute take out some regens that way. But basically DPA is king, you use the powers that do the most amount of damage in the least amount of time. Damage of the power divided by the time it takes to use it, and then factoring arcana time. I've said this before, but in the time it takes me to use Eagles claw, i can use thunder kick and storm kick to get way more damage.

My build used to be just storm kick, crane kick, CAK and EC, but once i changed too Storm kick, thunder kick, crane and EC, i was doing more damage then ever before, and then once i added the procs it was crazy.

The funny thing is i thought i wouldn't be as good vs ranged guys or anyone that kites, but with EC's stun, i can still get thunder and storm off for more damage then EC itself.

I actually don't quite understand what mids means with DPS, because storm kick does more damage is the same amount of time as thunder, yet thunder kick has a higher DPS. If it's Damage per second then Storm should be higher because it deals more damage. The only way i could see it was if you put Thunder kick on auto, calculated the damage, and then Storm and calculated the damage as well. But 5 high DPA attacks are better then 5 high DPS ones. Since once you have a perfect chain, DPA is all that matters.

I'd say something along the lines of lolwarzone, but even thinking of that sounds childish. You still don't understand that some people like to play their games differently don't you? Why don't you go laugh at those that play WoW or Champions online? Well actually i wouldn't be surprised, but that attitude won't get you far in life, it's not helping anyone.

So in a standing fight, it's actually smart to use DA/Parry every 2nd attack, as i believe it ups your damage. Even if it slightly lowers it, which i highly doubt, it gives you a perma melee/lethal elude.

I would never sit in rest and let someone kill me, i would stand and fight and overall not be a coward, but if they cannot kill me while i am standing there trying to kill them, they do not deserve the recipe. Recipes should only go to the good players that get kills because only they can use them to the full potential, example a level 40 AR blaster with a panacea proc, it shouldn't happen.

Against a Tank, brute or even a scrapper with a lot of health, burst isn't going to help you. it might at the very end, when they are low health, but otherwise it's just little chunks of health at a time. If you look at burst vs DPS, the health actually moves down faster with DPS. The DPS is more of a steady drop in health, while burst is little chunks at a time.

Personally, being a regen, i've made sure burst doesn't kill me. I always stay above half health because i know my own weakness. But against a claws or dark with proc'd out attacks, i have no chance, their is no counter for my health moving down, i can't prepare.

Oh right, funny story on Justice, i was using my level 40 invul brute against some level 41 scrapper. I used unstoppable when i had to and he ran for 3 mins, and truth is i would have killed him if he stood still. So when it wore off i just ran around until we called it a tie. Now don't get me wrong, i don't like running, but he ran for 3 straight mins and i wasn't going to let him get any rep of me, he's a coward and doesn't deserve it. I wasn't afraid of dieing or losing, it's a level 40, i was just there to kill some LB, but the duel was pathetic and i ran out of hatred.

So if you ever wondered, why we don't run, it's because we're not cowards, we have honor and we'd rather lose then tie by running. (unless there is a personal problem between the 2).

I only multi post when i need to respond to different people. If you look up i responded to 2 quotes and then the original question. I don't put them together as not to confuse others, or myself.

For one, half of the crap listed for gladiator is useless for most of the toons I roll. Second, cut half of those bonuses (most of the good ones) off for the PvE only crowd that buys these. Yeah they are PvP IO's, but the fact that they exemp down like purple makes them desirable to the PvE players as well. And the fact that they even have PvE bonuses shows that the devs had them in mind when they made them. I bet more PvEers have PvP IO's slotted then PvPers.

So again, what makes these more "rare" then purps? Just because you want them more? I want purps more, so going by your logic purps should be more rare the PvP recipes correct?

You said purples are "in your opinion" (i know what it means) are better. As a side not if i don't understand something i will usually ask.

The post i put was a little basic, i really didn't think it needed an explaniation.

The 2nd should be more rare because the 2nd is better then the 1st, it's kinda simple.

I agree, some seem completly useless, like the S/L defense on something that doesn't have defense. But once those add up, it makes a huge difference. Also because of DR you don't want to focus on one thing, slot 3-4 of these and you got good stats all around. It's like not bothering getting over 50% recharge because of DR (in the case you have hasten), you instead focus on something else.

It's not really opinion, or atleast not just ones opinion. PvPers would rather choose PvP IOs then purples in most cases. It doesn't matter which side is wrong about them being better or not, but the majority want them instead and therefore the price is put up.

Yes, i know of plenty of PvEr's that bought PvP IOs, mostly the +def and the panacea proc, those are very helpful in both pvp and pve.

This next point is probably the most important and would explain a lot.

Purples have been out for a long time, a lot of people have them. And once their main has them, they don't need to buy them, and if they get one they just sell it. PvP IOs are new, and not many people have them, and everyone basically wants them. They are more rare because they are in higher demand. More people need them. Even if you argue that purples are better, you can only have 1 set, and once you get that set your done. With PvP sets you can slot them multiple times, which incrases the demand even more.

The rarity of the pancea proc doesn't make much sense to me though. Among the "rare" pvp IOs, they made this one even more "rare" then that. It's like finding a miracle +recovery while doing a mission. Now, if it's super powerful, it unbalances the game, because only the super lucky ones have it. On the other hand if it isn't super powerful, then getting it isn't a big idea because it won't make you way better. The only way i see to solve this is make the proc either less rare or less poweful.
  18. Onto the question, katana and broadsword are very defensive with parry and DA, using those every 2nd attack you usually won't die, espically if your a regen. Unless you against someone with [rage] or a lot of acc.

Claws is completly offesnive. I've seen and made builds for all 3, and nothing, actually, not even one other scrapper primary, can match the damage of a fully proc'd out claws.

2 acc/dmg and 4 procs. With 4 fast attacks (first 3 and follow up) it will rip anything apart.

Now aside from that it also has follow up, it grants +75% damage, which sounds great, but it's mostly there to balance the set with the others, so that it's damage is up to speed. What really matters is all the tohit it gives, with hami/proc'd attacks you won't have many acc bonuses, and this is where all my other hami/proc'd builds have messed up, not enough acc.

Another problem with that is, even though claws originally takes less end then other attacks, using them as fast as you can and having 0 end reduction IOs in the, your end is going to be a problem. This is why regen is suited with it so well, or WP or ele. The problem is that even with QR and stamina it's not enough, because you need tactics to get enough tohit to land follow up every time so you'll never miss. Now with QR/stamina/PP/conserve power/MoG (with end mod) and some miracles in your regen heals, you'll actually be able to fight without ever completly losing end.

Claws is the hardest to perfect in my opinion, you can't exactly just spam parry or DA, and it's slotting is the hardest i've ever had to do, but in the end, with a good player who knows how to use it, it by far does the most damage. I've seen claws kill brutes in unstoppable while they were trying to aidself.

Of course, this is only for duels, in warzone claws is horrible because it doesn't have burst, just insane DPS.

    C. You are a /Regen, you don't need defense. Use heals. As a /Regen scrapper, your strong point is defensive play. You don't need to gain more defensive power by taking a Parry Power.

Focus on increasing the effectiveness of your offensive abilities - you are set on defense.

Fire melee will be the most consistent DPS/burst damage set. Take Scorch (way faster than fire sword, and potential for much more DPS), Cremate, Build Up, Confront (the -75% range is beastly), and Incinerate if you have room for it.

Incinerate actually does less damage than cremate - so it's best used on an opponent with aid self or other interruptable powers. It's also nice to use before you start a built up attack chain.

Nope. My scrapper can kill regens but not ones who spam DA or parry. I don't have enough acc to go through about 60% defense.

Actually if you look at the DPA of both Parry and DA, they are high. Even if it didn't grant the defense i would have it in my attack chain, if i had one.

Ele/therm and thug/pain are too good and only lose to their exact weakness, ele/ tank or ice/ troller (sometimes stormies too). I wouldn't mind if they needed more skill to be that good. It only bothers when i see a good player lose to a bad one because of those powersets.

I agree with that, and i didn't know it at the time, i assumed head splitter did more damage then EC, finally checked and was surprised.

But in a duel it's not the best choice, espically with melee toons. The first person i lost too was a katana/regen. I didn't actually lose, it was a tie, but the fact that i had to kite a little to live (basically it was a complete standing fight until i ran out of heals) makes me lose in my own head. I feel bad for not giving them the kill, but it turns out they don't like me anyway so meh i'm fine.

It would be different if i used aidself, or if caltrops were down. But i had to run to survive because i wasn't strong enough to face them head on. There was some tactic in it....they couldn't stack DA and with MA's burst i took a few chunks of health by run bys, but i knew i couldn't kill them by doing that, and that there was no way for me to win, only lose or tie.
