Whats up PvPrs! I come to you subject matter experts (SME) on some advice for a new PvP toon i rolled. The concept behind this toon is for mostly deuls and solo zone PvP. I know therm is a good team based set, but TBH i find myself solo in zones alot. so i figured i would build it for just that. I didnt go all fancy with sets and everything. My main focus was accuracy and SAPPING. So please feel free to tear it up as thats why i came here for advice. Thx!


Oh and yes i took tough and shark skin, im thinkn it may be beneficial, but if not please let me know.

Tough is gonna give you almost 0 benefit in pvp on top of your other resist shield, because of how DR works with resistance and squishies. You're better off dropping that for like... something else.

I went with mu mastery on my elec/therm because power sink and the mu pet make for some really nice sapping though. Also I took the shields and forge and thaw on my therm so I can buff teammates and my pet with them. While I can understand not taking the shields, though, you really should at least have forge, just for the odd teamup. But in my case, it also goes to my mu pet and lets him hit practically anything which is nice.

But there's merit to having hibernate too... possibly more so than not.

Anyways, I highly highly suggest looking into IO set pieces for that build. With 3 performance shifters and 2 efficacy adapters, I can max out accuracy, endmod, and recharge, and get 2 health bonuses, and have 1 slot left over to either put in end redux, damage, or just save for another power. And that's just the start of what you can do.

The problem with your latest build is your going to get wrecked constantly with no phase or hiber. This new pvp castle made for us makes it impossible to not have an escape measure, to much supression. Your self heal is going to decay and suppress you you have to get an escape.


The funny thing is, even though you seem like one of the whiners that got the changes made in the first place, you're probably still bad..------Macskull on Crop_of_shaolin

No need for more than 1 Recharge Redux in Phase.

And I'd drop Swift for Health and try to toss some Numi's in there.

Personally I feel like you are wasting some slots in Sentinal, Tesla Cage and Short Circuit but thats just my two cents.

For instance, Charged Bolts, Lightning Bolt and Ball Lightning along with Heat Ex and Power Sink are gonna be all the end drain you need.

But hey your choice!

You really need to get some dmg in that build. Any blaster, dom or other corr will eat you alive on that. I highly recommend slotting for dmg on your attack powers.

Short Circuit and VSentinal do a ton of end spike damage, which compliement Heat Exaustion really well. You can never have enough end spike. The sooner they get to 0, the sooner they can't run away or hurt you, and if they got blues, the faster you run them out of blues.

Lightning bolt and charged bolts aren't nearly good enough end damage compare to those powers, especially since VSent is hands free end damage. Plus, SC does aoe -recovery and -end which is really brutal against MMs.

Tesla Cage is your only ranged -end power besides heat exausion, and HE isn't perma, and sometimes it misses, sometimes you're fighting more than one person, and sometimes people have end drain resistance or IOed up recovery and you need more -recovery.

The patron holds are your best attack. And as for the one buff I took on mine, it was forge. In this day and age of moar damage it seemed like the best bang for the buck. though a point can be made for thaw or the shields as a holder for a kb io.

Ok,so i got the guy to 50, been PvPn with him quite a bit, and realized there are just some things in my build i do not/can not use. for instance i have hibern00b and phase, i did this b/c the kb ios in the def based sets were dirt cheap at the time. but im findn my self not usin PS hardly ever. so im thinkn of ditchn concealment pool and pickn up med pool for aid self. here is the build im thinkn of, everything is the same as now minus the med pool, i have conceal pool in there atm, but as far as slottn and IOs its all the same. any help will be great.

i had this planned for my dark/therm before i deactivated, just switched it in mids for elec. the only thing i am not sure of is if DR cuts the +damage and +hp bonuses by too much. if it does just switch out a couple sets for +rech sets i guess. also, i dont know what the pvp sets offer so the ST blasts could change depending on those too.

that was choice 2, the reason behind med pool was b/c of the serious decay of warmths heal. but im learnin quickly how to use this toon tactfully, and i see my self goin with ldrship..thx

Hey, dude! After all these suggestions in this thread and after practicing your ele/therm in pvp, have you finally came up with a build that works best for you? I just got my ele/therm to 50 and building him up for the same reasons you made yours. Do you mind sharing what build did you finally ended doing?

What about the issue to whether or not take fighting pool?

Which patron is better: Mu or Levi?

Mu. You need to focus on your end drain, not your damage. The Mu pet actually does good damage when forged anyway.

Conserve power and power sink help anything they may end drain you, and as i understand it most ele/therms have some sort of end problem themselves without these.

Incorrect. Anyone with half a brain will have you running because they'll just be able to outdamage you and kill you before they bottom out on their endurance. Heat Exhaustion on its own will be enough to catch many players off guard, but HE + the end drain from Elec is more than enough. You don't need more in your primary.

You can completly focus on damage if you want....but i choose to increase what i'm already effective at.

I can drain someones end faster then their health. Damage isn't a problem after that because they can't run, attack or heal. And their resistences are off. Basically i've won at that point unless a end proc goes off and they hit MoG.

HE and short circuit won't drain their end fast enough for you to keep living.

The Mu pet, the VS pet, HE, short circuit AND power sink is. I can completly drain a bar with that in a few seconds. And i can use demonic to survive the minute when they use geas (atleast that was the plan, too lazy to get demonic. ele/therm takes little skill as it is against normal builds)

I don't think standing there throwing sharks is a good plan. It roots you, so you get hit for more then you dealed with it.

I have an ele/therm and i've seen both ways, i've even seen soul storm and power boost. I'm sticking to Mu to get another short circuit that gives me end.

I thought i was on ignore? I liked it better that way

not to mention anyone with half a brain would turn off all their toggles when the ele/therm went into Hibernate. That destroys most of the tactic with the levi mastery anyway.

All it has after that is sharks and i've explained why that's a bad idea. If an ele/therm threw a shark, i would run up and get a bunch of hits in....unless i fell of my chair laughing, but i don't think that's a real win anyway.

So essentially you're choosing to focus on only their endurance instead of their endurance and HP. I know which kind of Therm I'd rather fight, and it's not the one that only focuses on end drain.

You don't need to drain their endurance all by yourself. They'll do it on their own just by continuing to run their toggles, and unless they spend the entire match running, attacking you back. Good for you that you can admit Elec/Therm takes no skill - the next step is to roll a build that does, and play with it so you actually get better.

Only AT's with Spirit Shark are VEATs, Brutes, and Stalkers. lol @ VEATs, Brutes will be able to stay alive during the animation due to their high HP and good resists, and Stalkers aren't a worry because they'll be hidden until the attack animates and they'll probably have run off or placated you by the time you're able to even find where they were.

Most of the time, people will go into rest within sight range, so as soon as they pop out of Hibernate you can drop rest and get right back into the fight. Turning off your toggles doesn't give you end, it just means you'll be at the same point you were when the Therm went into Hibernate, which means he's got that much less work to do once he comes out.

Corruptors don't have Spirit Shark. They have Spirit Shark Jaws, which is a hold with a significantly faster activation time but still high amount of damage. Essentially, it's just another ranged attack that can drop toggles. Seriously, do you even know what powers are available to certain ATs in this game?

Ok heal decay isn't based off what heal you are using, its ANY heal. Insp, warmth, aidself, someone else healing you, w/e.

Also, on a therm you want SS/SJ/Fitness/Phase IMO (because you have self heal to use while phased) but if you insist on hiber and leadership go SS/SJ/Fitness and Leadership and pick up Hiber.

I only use hiber on Doms and blasters because most corrs and trollers have self heals to use instead of sitting like a duck in an open zone waiting on a team to do the "gang bang huddle"

Actually, I have some imput here.

Mu= Useless. Powersink? lol congratz, you can drain an extra 20 end every minute? Mu Pet? LOL, A pet you can have up for, what 4 minutes? and is down for basically the whole match? Conserve Power? Maybe, but there are better things. Electric shackles? Ok I'll give you that one, I love that power.

Mace: Gives you a perception power and web nades, I tried this, performed decently.

Soul: It has power boost, admirable, but not worth it really.

Leviathan: Has Hibernate and, in my opinion, the second best hold. (Coralax is beast too!)



The thing being, If you don't take leviathan or mace, you are missing a travel power, fitness, perception or a phase. All of these being central to building an elec/therm.

-If you can't see the person, and the person happens to be say a blaster? Say good bye to your HP.

-HE works while phased, and VS still attacks, and an elec/therm is not likely to be able to stand up to a blaster or other high damage AT on its own with HD on. Since Ele/therms are a dueling toon, Hiber>Phase, becuase if heal decay is enabled, you can phase and try to heal to full, but likely fail and come out of phase at full HD, where as hiber replenishes HP due to regen, you come out with no HD and at full HP/End thus explaining leviathans popularity.

-Mu, quite frankly, by comparison is garbage. The end drain is not NEARLY enough to justify dropping the survivability offered by hibernate.
