IIRC, we've been told specifically that Booster Packs will *not* be available in the Paragon Market in their current form. There *will* be some bundles of items available. We have very little information as to what will be included in bundles, how many there will be, or what the price point will be.

Quote:I was referring to current players who refuse to send tells before inviting because it's too much work, not new F2P players who obviously will not be able to do so due to game limitations. It is if you don't have access to tells. In fact, it's not just hard, it's impossible. They may want to, but they simply won't have access. The question here is how can we maintain a culture that says blind invites are "rude" when there is not /t option for free players?
As for your question, I don't have an answer. I'm likely to continue to ignore blind invites as I do now. Unfortunately F2Pers who *would* have sent a tell but can't may end up as casualties of the system. -
Quote:If you can't be arsed to send a short, simple message telling me level, location and activity, I'm not going to put myself to the trouble of joining your team to find out whether you're doing something I might actually want to participate in.Good riddance to this very stupid piece of this game's culture. "You invited me to a team in a multiplayer game! How rude!" always struck me as very WTF. I do put teams together when the mood strikes, and this cultural quirk always made it much more work than it had to be. Just join the dern group, if you're not into what we're doing, just say so and part ways amicably. It isn't hard. With this aspect of the game's culture dead or curtailed, I just might put teams together more often rather than soloing so much.
Like you said, it isn't hard. -
I just tested this on the beta server. Currently, a free player *cannot* be gifted with inspirations, enhancements or event salvage. Neither drag-and-drop nor target/right-clicking works; you just get a "character does not have access to trade" message.

North Carolina here and we had some moderate tremors for a minute or two. Not bad enough in this area to cause any damage, just freak people and pets out a little.

For me, the most enjoyable villains are the ones you can still find "cool" in spite of, or perhaps even because of, their flaws. There needs to be something relatable, something that can make you at least *understand* why they do what they do, even if you don't agree with it.
The commonality I've noticed in my own roster of villains is that they've all been thwarted by life in some way. Trying to claw their way back from ruin, they make the decision to take back control of their own fates, and neither circumstances nor society's rules will stop them.
That doesn't mean that they have no moral or ethical code of their own, just that it varies individually and doesn't fit society's mandate. I hate it when villains are portrayed as having no boundaries at all, just because they're villains. It might make sense for a few rare individuals - psychotics, schizophrenics and complete nihilists with antisocial personality disorders. But most people, good or bad, have things they'll do and things they won't do; it's just that the two lists don't always match up.
Rorschach is a perfect example of a complex character who's so well-written that often people can't agree whether he's a hero or a villain. He works for the common good, but he's also ruthless and brutal. He refuses to follow society's laws, but has his own unwavering moral code. He kills viciously, but only as punishment for the victim's past crimes; he doesn't target innocent civilians. You actually feel *bad* for him at the end of the book/movie.
When you can feel that kind of sympathy for an otherwise unpleasant character, the writer has succeeded. -
Quote:These are actually time-limited. You can get 1 per day (20 hours, technically) per successful trial (with I21, I believe Keyes and the Underground will grant 2); if you run repeats of the same trials within that 20-hour window you will not receive additional E-merits for the repeated trials.Empyrean Merits
Rare. I seem to get maybe one per 3-5 trials. As these seem pretty valuable, I'm hanging on to them. Just 8 merits can give you a rare incarnate component, and that's a good indication of their value.
So right now on live, you can get 3 per day by running BAF, Lambda and Keyes once each.
When I21 launches you can get 6 per day: 1 each from BAF and Lambda and 2 each from Keyes and Underground. -
Quote:For a character with the Alpha slot unlocked, shards should drop from even-level mobs while you're playing any content - TFs, story arcs, even just random hunting. They'll even drop while you're exemped below 50, as long as the mobs are even-level to you or above.Ok I too have basically came back ran the mission to unlock the Alpha slot and I read the wiki link. Its just seems confusing am I to run all those listed raids/tfs to get shards? I need some help
You'll often see TFs such as the ITF or Lady Grey advertised as "shard runs"; that means that rather than trying to complete the TF as quickly as possible, the team will be trying to defeat as many mobs as possible to increase the chances of shard drops. It's not unusual to get anywhere from 5-12 shards during a typical TF, so people often focus on those as opposed to other content. A friend of mine got 14 shards on a single LGTF shard run. -
Quote:I wonder if that means we'll be unable to drop things like inspies and enhancements on Free/Premium players, or if it only refers to the actual trade window. Sometimes I like to go around the starter zones and gift lowbies something they might find useful; I won't be able to do that anymore if it's a complete trade lockout that includes drag-and-drop gifts.A Premium account won't be able to trade until it's three months old, is that it?
Which reminds me: Does anyone know whether the lockout on IO use and crafting extends to things like craftable temp powers and costume bits, or is it specific to enhancements only? -
Quote:As of right now, Incarnates are VIP (subscriber) only, so there is no unlock available for purchase. Are things like Incarnate and IO's unlocked per account or per character? I haven't looked closely enough.
If they're set up per account I'd change that. I'd set it up so there would be a higher fee, but the Incarnate or IO feature would only be unlocked per character. But permanently on a character.
The IO unlock is an account-wide 30-day license. A number of beta testers have suggested adding a permanent, per-character unlock to the store. No word yet on whether this is a possibility. -
In Japanese, the honorific "-San" is something people use when addressing or referring to other people. It's never used on yourself; i.e., you would never introduce yourself as Samuel-San or Tow-San, even though in English it's perfectly acceptable to introduce yourself as Mr. Tow.
You may want to check if Chinese is the same way with titles and honorifics. If so, ideally you'd want to set it up such that other people refer to you by title, but you yourself would leave it out. -
Quote:One alternative is to use Smashing Haymakers instead. They won't cap you - they'll only give around half the S/L defense bonus of a KC set - but they're a *lot* cheaper.Craaaap...
I didn't know kinetic combat was so expensive. It's just hard to find the slots to get the defense...
I assume your Claws/Elec was rather expensive to soft-cap? Do you have any ideas for how I can manage my sets so I don't have to get something as expensive as kinetic combat?
Quote:Not to sound like a noob, but I haven't played much recently and things got a little complicated in my absence. Merits are what you get at the end of Task Forces, and you spend them to buy sets instead of getting them randomly like it used to be, correct?
Alignment Merits
Morality Missions
You *can* purchase rare recipes with reward merits alone - something I wouldn't suggest as the conversion rate just isn't a good deal. You're much better off trading them in to get A-merits and then using the A-merits to buy what you need. Most non-purple rares cost either 1 or 2 A-merits apiece. IIRC, KC dual-aspects cost one merit; the triple costs 2. -

Quote:If you'd bothered to parse my post correctly, you'd have noticed that I wasn't even talking about Hulu; I was talking about basic cable service. But okay. No service agreement?2) You pay as a service for Hulu, not as a product. You have to sign an agreement before you can pay as well, right?
This game requires no service agreement and we pay for content as well. That is not right.
You also can record things on Hulu when you are unable to watch it, right? You can on satellite TV with a free DVR box with the agreement.
Right here.
If you scroll down to Paragraph 2, you'll notice it's called "Description of Service." It states, in part: "NC Interactive offers Game(s) as massively multiplayer subscription-based comic book hero and villain role-playing game(s) service and fee-based additional features..."
"To use the Service..."
"Anyone desiring to use the Service..."
"The Web Site is an active part of the Service..."
They're offering a service, not an ownable product.
And under Section 3, "License to Use":
"Subject to the terms of this Agreement, NC Interactive grants to you, for your personal use only, a non-exclusive, revocable, nontransferable (except as permitted in Section 4(a)) license to use the Service, and a non-exclusive, revocable, nontransferable (except as permitted in Section 4(a)) license to use the Software in connection with the Service, for a duration as defined in Section 5 for so long as you maintain an authorized and fully-paid Account.
They're letting you use the game as long as you pay. You don't own it. -
Quote:I'm boggling at this. Are you saying it's not fair that, under the current system, you get nothing if you pay nothing? Seriously?2) I may get more from unsubscribing after Freedom than before, but that doesn't mean before was right or fair
Wow. I only watch about an hour or two of actual (non-Hulu) cable TV a week. I sure wish Time Warner would reimburse me for all that time I spent sleeping instead. Again, seriously? -
You have access to the channel; you just can't see it on your other characters because it hasn't been added to your tab. Right-click the tab and choose "Edit Tab"; you'll then be able to add it (from right pane to left pane) to the tab so it's visible.

Quote:Except when you're fighting psi-using enemies, which MoG won't protect against. This in itself wouldn't be so bad, as the majority of psi attacks aren't super heavy damage, but they tend to have that darn -recharge debuff attached to them. I find fighting large groups of mixed psi/other damage mobs (Arachnos, Carnies, Rikti) to be annoying and potentially deadly unless I'm proactively popping purples. You don't get hit when you're using MoG, barring bad luck with the RNG. Regen doesn't take "all of it". They take all of it (well, the full average for no defense) when MoG is not up.
Quote:On the flip side, if my recharge gets screwed, my Regen isn't likely to save me, where my heals and MoG could have if they were to come back. That's why I would very much have preferred recharge debuff resistance. Willpower needs -regen resistance, because regen is what it does to get back lost HP. Regen has more clicks going on to achieve the same, plus a mini-godmode that suffers (and benefits) from recharge effects. -
I find it ironic, but unsurprising, that we have one thread where the OP is complaining about losing all his VIP stuff if he goes Premium, while several other beta threads on store pricing and subscription tiering contain multiple posters who lean towards going Premium at Freedom launch because they feel they won't really lose much of value.

It's perfectly acceptable to send a short, polite tell asking someone if they'd like to team. Blind invites, not so much. Even if I'm not actively looking for a team, I'll sometimes join one if the message is courteous, understandable and has the information I need to decide: Location, level and activity. "Running level 35 Hero Tips in Brickstown, would you like to join?" If I don't feel like joining just then I'll politely decline, but I certainly won't be offended by the message itself, nor will most reasonable people - so ask away!

They should be unlocked and ready to go. Occasionally, though, you'll have an issue where you'll have to actually log in the appropriate unlock character again before the EATs will be flagged as available.

Nope! The level of the mob is what matters, not its con. AoEing greys is a fast way to net your starting tips for the day.

Much better. The elaborate spiked plate armor look is still a little too space magey for my personal taste, but at least they're recognizable as CoT. I just wonder how the new, modern costumes will fit against the backdrop of the old Oranbega maps.
