Tell me again we have War Walls?
Quite. From the subject line i would guess this thread is written from a purely Redside/Praetorian perspective and they never go to the Rikti War Zone. i think this sort of curiosity about unseen areas of the game is commendable. -
Quote:Is this like that thing about how all real vampires are Eastern European male nobles who turn to dust when exposed to sunlight? If Elves don't have large, slanted, almond-shaped eyes it just doesn't work, IMO.
'Course, I used to like Elves more than I do now, so whatevas.
(Thus ignoring all differing lore that predates and postdates that specific stereotype.) -
Quote:i was an occasional attendee of Brutal Bruiseday and Corrupticon. Nice to have you back, you were always fun to have around.I would like to say hello to this great forum. I return for a long, long, long hiatus today. It's been about 3 years since i've stepped foot in the game. I am MichealBond and was a pretty prominent member of the Champion Forums and server years ago. I helped organize many events and I have kept up with the game during my time away. I was founder of Corrupticon (an all Corruptor event) along with Brutal Bruiseday (An all Brute event) , Along with a couple of PvP events.
So what have i missed? any of the oldheads around? I was lurking and saw that Tanker Tuesday seems to be the only major event that happens around here now...What's the 411?!?
If anyone remembers me. please feel free to drop me a line and i'd love to team up!
I am installing the game on my comp as I type!! -
Quote:Uh... good to hear. Thanks.Hi all,
Just wanted to stop in and let you know we've passed this concern along.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Quote:IIRC, the only thread in the GR Beta longer than the "complaining about ambushes" thread was the morality thread.
Back when regen was still getting smacked with nerfs every issue (and kept on going anyway) i used to joke that when the Devs were presented with more than one way to scale back a powerset or increase difficulty they tended to pick "all of the above". Praetoria seems to have some of the same design approaches.
For me it's not so bad even though some mobs and missions are endlessly frustrating for some ATs. i'm pretty familiar with critter AI and powers. For a new player having seemingly endless hordes of character-seeking death machines pounding them into paste for daring to enter the map could be a wee bit annoying. -
All of my support characters pack a punch as well. i simply cannot understand the appeal of standing around while everyone else does stuff no matter how good my passive support is.

Try posting about your feelings in the Scrapper section.
Seriously though, Regen can be pretty survivable, but it is the clickiest defense set, making it a bit annoying to play.
Also, it does have much better synergy with some primaries than others.
Still, you don't have to play the character if you don't like it. Deleting seems a bit excessive unless you're running out of character slots. i've had a few alts that i wasn't enjoying and shelved them for a year or two before getting an urge to try them again and finding that i had a better handle on the style of play that suited the alt and/or the set(s) had gotten better since my last time using them. -
Quote:IIRC PS2 to USB adapters were available for a while when USB hadn't solidified as the input device standard for keyboards and mice. i probably have a few i tossed into one box of surplus components or another. USB to PS2 are much more common, but i'm pretty sure i had some PS2 to USB adapters. (Been a while.)I appreciate the replies. I considered just using my old keyboard, but its connection is round and the new computer has a rectangular port.
I'm also not familiar with ZBoards but I'l certainlyl look into them.
Thanks all.
i'd suggest asking at any small or independent electronics or computer sales/repair shops in your area for an adapter. There's a good chance they'll have some around that they'll either give to you or sell for a couple dollars.
If you can't find a PS2 to USB keyboard adapter locally i might be able to dig one up and mail it to you. (It's been a while, but i'm pretty sure i had some from a while back.)
Good luck.
Edit: Or you could just use a slightly different control setup... -
Quote:No, we don't.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation
we seem to have prices going down in the last week or two but overall we DEFINITELY have hyperinflation.
Quote:this is a statement and i am curious if people agree. Please let me know if you do if you do not please let me know why you disagree
thank you for your support
Actually, on further reflection, that last sentence was a rhetorical question.
Moving on.... -

Quote:The Barracuda SF ambushes do eventually stop, and it's really only the phasing mechanic that can pew the scrooch for a team. Everything else is mostly an annoyance. Still, that regen-while-phased bit can make a Barracuda SF downright impossible for some teams. No, the Khan version seriously isn't that hard. It's about like fighting 8 AVs, 1-2 at a time. Almost any team can do that. Especially since they aren't even +1. There's nothing challenging or spectacular about the final Khan fight. If a regular team can't kill an AV, then that team is just horrible.
Now the Barracuda fight is different, because it has constant ambushes that can get incredibly numerous. And on top of that, Reich actually does crazy things that require special abilities and ATs to cope with (like someone to unphase him). That one is a lot more challenging and requires a more well-built team. -
Quote:More likely would be wearing heavy cloaks until they got into a well-heated space. Like a great feasting hall or some smaller, cozier venue. Then it would most likely be revealed that there was little under that cloak.Case in point I would have to agree with GG on this one, although not for the reasons she presented.
Let's face it... given the general climate conditions in the areas who worshipped the Norse gods, any priest or priestess of Freya who covered only 20% of their body was likely going to die of frost bite or hypothermia between religious observances.
You should cover some of the non Vanir or Aesir participants in the Norse legends. Many of the other critters were of comparable power to the usual gaggle of Norse gods. They just didn't spend quite as much time playing with the hairless monkeys of Midgard, being more concerned with local matters. By the way, wasn't Hod the blind Asgardian god that slew Baldr with a mistletoe arrow due to Loki's machinations? It's been a fair while since i read the stories, so i could be wrong. -
Bear in mind that the level shift mechanic of Incarnate powers isn't the same as sidekicking or actually gaining a level. It's more of an offset added to some of the combat tables. Among other things the level shift doesn't grant additional hit points, but it alters your effective level compared to enemies for things certain types of power effects, damage, defense and hitting.
Level shifts currently have no effect on the reward tables. This includes drop chances, and the amount of prestige and inf given for defeats. -
Quote:The Devs have been metaphorically bashing their heads against brick walls for years trying to improve pet AI. They've had some incremental (and slightly more than incremental) successes doing so over the years, but i don't expect a dramatic increase in pet AI "intelligence" any time in the near future.Unfortunately, nothing player-based will fix Masterminds pets to stop them spacking out and acting like Captain McDerpyPants, running up and attempting to brawl with a War Walker. Or from getting mown down by Clockwork AoE -Def spam.
Currently messing around with more macros and even more stringent control of the flipping blighters, but Id much prefer someone to actually FIX the little pissants...
Maybe they'll come up with some other way of making pets more effective against higher conning enemies. At least the pets already inherit the level shift. That's a nice start. -
Convert them if you have an immediate need for shards and just leave them if you don't would be my suggestion.

Quote:However, in awesome news you can make floating platforms using O-portals.The thing is that your flight (or its absence) has no effect on where the O-portal can be summoned. Other entities that require summoning on a floor-like surface are not affected by the summoner's own flight status.
This argument makes little sense.
During at least one of the Rikti Dropship take downs on Champion we had a bridge of O-portals that extended between buildings. Also, during a few events held in Atlas Park groups extended O-portals from the roof of city hall until there was an irregular platform of O-portals near the statue's waist. -

Quote:The thing is that your flight (or its absence) has no effect on where the O-portal can be summoned. Other entities that require summoning on a floor-like surface are not affected by the summoner's own flight status. One possibility is because o-portal, like other clickable summoned entities, creates an actual physical object that can be stood on. It's possible to trap yourself while summoning an o-portal if done right.
This argument makes little sense. -

Can't believe this thread is still going...
i mean, i didn't even post a proper rant, it was really more of a statement of moderate annoyance.
i've run Kahn and Barracuda since then, and both were pretty easy because the teams were people i knew who ran it during something close to peak time, not a PuG assembled in the early afternoon.
Reichsman is always easy on Kahn, but the phase and regenerate schtick gets really old in the BSF if you don't have someone with the "stop that" temp power who is on the ball and are light on debuffs. (Although in the PuG run we did have plenty of control, as useful as that is against Reichy-baby.)
So, yeah, enjoying it just fine on my various alts, but i still consider Reichsman as a ginormous sack of hp to be bad design, especially with the AT-specific twists in his BSF version.
Carry on. -
Quote:i had one grunch but the eggplant over thereive heard a bunch of new stuff in the last bunch of days about baf trial but the one thing i havent seen nor heard is the reward for all this
whats the reward or havent we gotten that far yet?
is it shards? merits? something new? and lets hope its alot more for having to do it with people you might not want to do it with. i can grab an awesome team of 8 no problems to wreck any tf. but when i got to start adding people or others join in thats where it gets messy . -
Quote:The obvious solution is just to work your way through all of them while appointing replacements as you move on to new positions. Eventually you will reach a position that gives you the authority to create the position you desire. So much for this method for me... I have no idea who my prey IS. *frowns*

i mean, it wasn't actually specified how any vacancies left by advancement would be filled. i suppose you could allow lower ranked employees to fight for the vacancy. -

We had no Stalker either, but we had a Scrapper, which is much the same as far as the temp power IIRC. Of course discussing when to use the power did delay things a bit even though we kept on whacking the ambushes down with regular attacks while we did it. It was a bit disorganized overall, but still fun. It was just the final battle with Reichsman that dragged on.
