Quite. From the subject line i would guess this thread is written from a purely Redside/Praetorian perspective and they never go to the Rikti War Zone. i think this sort of curiosity about unseen areas of the game is commendable.

While this thread has a special passion to it that the earlier threads on this topic have lacked, it's true that this has been a concern and a frustration about the Praetorian missions that, as you say, has been pointed out since GR closed beta.

Back when regen was still getting smacked with nerfs every issue (and kept on going anyway) i used to joke that when the Devs were presented with more than one way to scale back a powerset or increase difficulty they tended to pick "all of the above". Praetoria seems to have some of the same design approaches.

For me it's not so bad even though some mobs and missions are endlessly frustrating for some ATs. i'm pretty familiar with critter AI and powers. For a new player having seemingly endless hordes of character-seeking death machines pounding them into paste for daring to enter the map could be a wee bit annoying.

All of my support characters pack a punch as well. i simply cannot understand the appeal of standing around while everyone else does stuff no matter how good my passive support is.

Seriously though, Regen can be pretty survivable, but it is the clickiest defense set, making it a bit annoying to play.

Also, it does have much better synergy with some primaries than others.

Still, you don't have to play the character if you don't like it. Deleting seems a bit excessive unless you're running out of character slots. i've had a few alts that i wasn't enjoying and shelved them for a year or two before getting an urge to try them again and finding that i had a better handle on the style of play that suited the alt and/or the set(s) had gotten better since my last time using them.

IIRC PS2 to USB adapters were available for a while when USB hadn't solidified as the input device standard for keyboards and mice. i probably have a few i tossed into one box of surplus components or another. USB to PS2 are much more common, but i'm pretty sure i had some PS2 to USB adapters. (Been a while.)

i'd suggest asking at any small or independent electronics or computer sales/repair shops in your area for an adapter. There's a good chance they'll have some around that they'll either give to you or sell for a couple dollars.

If you can't find a PS2 to USB keyboard adapter locally i might be able to dig one up and mail it to you. (It's been a while, but i'm pretty sure i had some from a while back.)

The Barracuda SF ambushes do eventually stop, and it's really only the phasing mechanic that can pew the scrooch for a team. Everything else is mostly an annoyance. Still, that regen-while-phased bit can make a Barracuda SF downright impossible for some teams.

More likely would be wearing heavy cloaks until they got into a well-heated space. Like a great feasting hall or some smaller, cozier venue. Then it would most likely be revealed that there was little under that cloak.

You should cover some of the non Vanir or Aesir participants in the Norse legends. Many of the other critters were of comparable power to the usual gaggle of Norse gods. They just didn't spend quite as much time playing with the hairless monkeys of Midgard, being more concerned with local matters. By the way, wasn't Hod the blind Asgardian god that slew Baldr with a mistletoe arrow due to Loki's machinations? It's been a fair while since i read the stories, so i could be wrong.

The Devs have been metaphorically bashing their heads against brick walls for years trying to improve pet AI. They've had some incremental (and slightly more than incremental) successes doing so over the years, but i don't expect a dramatic increase in pet AI "intelligence" any time in the near future.

Maybe they'll come up with some other way of making pets more effective against higher conning enemies. At least the pets already inherit the level shift. That's a nice start.

However, in awesome news you can make floating platforms using O-portals.

During at least one of the Rikti Dropship take downs on Champion we had a bridge of O-portals that extended between buildings. Also, during a few events held in Atlas Park groups extended O-portals from the roof of city hall until there was an irregular platform of O-portals near the statue's waist.

The thing is that your flight (or its absence) has no effect on where the O-portal can be summoned. Other entities that require summoning on a floor-like surface are not affected by the summoner's own flight status.

The obvious solution is just to work your way through all of them while appointing replacements as you move on to new positions. Eventually you will reach a position that gives you the authority to create the position you desire.

i mean, it wasn't actually specified how any vacancies left by advancement would be filled. i suppose you could allow lower ranked employees to fight for the vacancy.

We had no Stalker either, but we had a Scrapper, which is much the same as far as the temp power IIRC. Of course discussing when to use the power did delay things a bit even though we kept on whacking the ambushes down with regular attacks while we did it. It was a bit disorganized overall, but still fun. It was just the final battle with Reichsman that dragged on.

Once they get the leash animations ironed out.
