Lots of good suggestions, and Traps is an awesome set, but doesn't the Hobgoblin character spend a fair bit of time airborne? That doesn't mesh as well with Traps, but a Fire/Devices Blaster might not be a bad compromise. If not actually planning to fly a lot, then i would tend to go with Fire/Traps as well.

Uhm, that's actually how most of my Defenders play. Buff allies and/or apply debuffs to enemies, then start converting my blue bar to orange numbers. That's why you have a secondary. Use heals (if available) when something significant manages to get past the buffs and debuffs then resume shooting. My only Defenders that tend to spam healing at all are the Darks and Kins, but that's more for the debuff aspects.

Quote:Orbital bombardmentHOW?
Gametrailers.com has a tutorial video up, by the way.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/sd...city-of/717914
.
Orbital bombardment is the act of attacking targets on a planet, moon or other such object from orbit around the object, rather than from an aircraft, or a platform beyond orbit. It is most often encountered in fiction, but has been proposed as a means of attack for several real-world weapons systems concepts, including kinetic bombardment and as a nuclear delivery system. -
Quote:Uh...I hate it when people post really ancient image macros as a response.
People who tell others 'if you don't like it quit' should die in a fire. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Um...
*snerk*
So what you really meant is that everyone is entitled except those whose opinions and/or posts you strongly disagree with. Those people should die in indescribable agony for annoying you.
Yeah, this amused me. i did read everything else, but there's nothing i can add to the main discussion that hasn't been eloquently said already in this thread and many times previously in response to many threads by the same person. Although, the bit about reparations? That's a whole new tier of insanity and comedy gold.
Time for a non sequitur: Why do engineers confuse Halloween and Christmas?
Because Oct 31 = Dec 25 -
Woot! Finally got the emote i always wanted!

Quote:The Theft of Essence proc is a wonder with Dark Regeneration. On occasion i actually gain back more endurance than i used.I will highly recommend finding a way to purchase the Theft of Essence: Chance for +endurance IO and dropping into Dark Regeneration. It's cheaper to get the recipe and craft it, usually. The nice thing about the IO is you have a chance of getting +10 endurance for every target you heal off of. In a large enough crowd it's not unusual to get more endurance back then you've used for the heal. I get it asap on all my dark armor toons.
tiana_arylle, as far as playing lowbie teams i also suggest not cranking the difficulty levels early on until everyone gets a bit of practice and is fully up to speed. Once a group is familiar with each others' playstyle and general gameplay it's possible to crank difficulty settings up stupidly high even at the lowest levels, but it can slow progress down quite a bit. The team combo you have sounds very good, but there is one thing you need to remember: the penalties for defeat in this game are minimal, so feel free to try anything you want, no matter how foolhardy, as long as everyone is having fun. -
Quote:*psst* Unless you're discussing architectural features it's spelled "Archetype"......archtype...
...archtypes... ...Archtype... ...Archtypes... ...Archtype... ...Archtype...
Basically: Play what you want to play. All that aside i agree with your post.
Quote:Try 3 Gun Bane spiders. No, not Crabs... well, Crabs if you really want to. 3 Banes with Guns are an awesome sight to behold and teams will love to have you along for the 90% damage boost alone, not to mention the sweet, sweet +DEF you three will bring.
So the trinity isn't needed and any team can succeed (i've been on all-Tanker ITFs that just waded through all the enemies and eventually stomped Nictus Rommy into the ground), but it's stacking of buffs, debuffs, and controls that make for the most powerful teams. i've seen that rattle players used to other MMOs when they ended up on Trial/SF/TF teams that were all support ATs. What really really makes it worthwhile is the amazement they express later as the team just destroys everything in their path without a "tank" or "DPS". -
Quote:Aha! That's easy.Select COH TEST in the Launcher and click "Install Game". Then, click the Customize button to point it to your existing CohTest installation, hit "OK", and then click "Install". It should find your old installation and update it as necessary.
Thanks. (Yeah, i'm not currently having that issue, but i like learning these things in advance.) -

AFAIK you haven't been able to target yourself in City of Heroes since... well, long before May 2004. This is by design and a basic aspect of the game engine.
i must admit that i'm surprised that you were able to target yourself in 2007 since i've never heard of anyone ever being able to do that. -
i've had the game crash several times recently, mostly involving battles with a lot of effects going off at once. It's mostly been a problem on my FF/Rad and very rare on my other alts. However, it hasn't happened the last few times, even running iTrials. What i did was create the macro [/macro GFX "unloadgfx"] and use it a couple times during each mission.

You'd still need a battery pack of some kind to store enough power to get the laser running and wearable solar cells (depending on how enormous and flat you are, as well as how bright the sun is locally) would probably give you a very low up time on the laser. i mean, we are talking about real world applications and physical laws in this instance, which admittedly is not an area where certain posters have much familiarity when they make their proposals. Although Dur did helpfully cut the laser's power usage by 90% for his proposal. That will probably help quite a bit.

Mmmm, that forum name does seem familiar somehow, but can't quite place it.
Then again i changed mine several times since you were last around, so what's in a name?
Regardless, welcome back. The game has changed quite a lot, and all for the better in my opinion. -

Quote:So what you're saying is that when you look at the data in smaller chunks it shows more variation from the predicted values then when you look at the large chunk?Quote:Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. If I were a player getting what I see on say Snow Globe as compared with White Succubus, I'd be really ticked off at NCsoft.
So basically the problem is that the random number generator is actually exhibiting randomness?
To get any other result you'd have to add a non-random weighting system that tracks each character's reward table results and alters each roll based on prior results. Sort of a reward table streakbreaker. -
Quote:Well, technically it was mentioned at least four times before you posted, but not with that exact wording. And yet it remains an excellent suggestion.I think this is the best is not mentioned yet Dark miasma/Dark blast def
It's hard to say which i consider most fun. i've leveled up several Dark Miasma combos, leveled a variety of Dark Armor alts, and played all the other darkity sets. One combo that hasn't been mentioned that i enjoyed quite a bit was my Katana/Dark Armor Scrapper. -
Good to hear that that's cleared up. Now go play!

Quote:Oog, i was half hoping that wasn't Deadshot even though i knew it was. Still, he's much more of a gentleman in this version; he's even sporting a steel corset of his own to show solidarity with Quinn.Man, that cover has me flashing back to the 90's in the worst way. From Harley's "we're-not-even-TRYING-to-deny-it-anymore" fan-service costume, to her dyed hair and KISS makeup, to the extra gear on Deadshot that would have Cable giving him envious looks.
It reminds me of the G.I. Joe Extreme toyline; where they all looked like steroid deformed wrestlers. -
Quote:Basically all the powers from the Fitness pool have been made inherent powers just like Rest, right down to being slottable and unlocking when you train to level 2. While not totally game-changing it has allowed players to take an even wider selection of powers than they used to. It also makes the lower levels much quicker and easier than they used to be.If you do use Ninja Run or Beast Run for travel, one word of advice - turn them off the instant you get into combat. They are endurance sinkholes and will make your blue bar plummet like few other things in the game. And short of getting incarnate Alpha Cardiac, there's no real way to change that. I'd strongly advise you not to rely on them for any kind of PVP, be it Arena or Zone.
One thing that people haven't mentionned (and that you may or may not have noticed) is that the former Fitness Pool is now inherent - ALL characters automatically get the powers at level 2. The inherent Swift and Hurdle, along with Ninja Run/Beast Run, made Super Jump borderline redundant, and turned Superspeed into a stealth power. And unlike those two powers, you can slot inherent Fitness to enhance its effects.

Quote:Yup.I was wondering if the list of 100 supergroups is filtered by the server on which I'm playing? In other words, I'm playing on Guardian and looking at the list of top 100 SGs and wondering if they're all from Guardian too.
Unfortunately that ranking is unable to show anything actually relevant about SGs. The prestige bar to having a well-equipped base is so low that displaying prestige totals shows nothing but an SG's ability to rake in prestige. Which in itself means little to nothing. -
Quote:Ooooooh! Very nice. i did not know about the noparse command. Thanks!Or, when you are giving examples like this, you could use the NOPARSE commands so that you don't have to add spaces. Like most code, it uses the format.
To use your example, it would be like this:

This may be helpful to others in the future. Not to knock what all_hell posted, but just to expand on it.
