On Links...

You know how folks include links in the body of their posts? Well I can do that. The lil tools are included. But there is a way to include a link in the text of your post, so that the only clue that there is a link, is that some of the text is underlined. I used to know how to do this, but have forgotten. I have searched the places on the forum, that I thought would have the specific answer I was looking for. But nothing was specific enough. If someone would be kind enough to remind me exactly how it's done, I would be greatful.

I don't understand what you're asking
like this
http://www.creyindustries.com/affiliates.php?id=13613

or like this?

Select/Highlight the text you want to make the link ("or like this" from the above example) and then click the "Insert Link" button, put the url in the tab that pops up and voila!

Assuming you are using the advanced editor mode that displays the buttons for inserting links and images and fonts and whatnot!

Manually, it's like this;
[ URL="http://www.creyindustries.com/affiliates.php?id=13613"]or like this?[/URL ]

I added spaces after the first bracket and just before the last bracket so it would show as text

First, let me say that after the gameplay, the thing I have always liked best about this game, is the responsiveness of both the staff and the player base.

Electric Knight and All Hell,

Thank-you very much.

Or, when you are giving examples like this, you could use the NOPARSE commands so that you don't have to add spaces. Like most code, it uses the [noparse] [/noparse] format.

To use your example, it would be like this:

or like this?

This may be helpful to others in the future. Not to knock what all_hell posted, but just to expand on it.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I feel the same way, Bruthaman, and just keep trying to pass it on!

And yeah, Texas Justice, great info! I've seen that mentioned before, but always forget what the command is.

The sad thing is I have an example of one that I did myself, right there in black it says 'My Roster' and it's clickable. But I did it years ago and then forgot how. Unfortunately the only cure for getting older seems to be dying young. Rats! Given the choice I'll take getting older every time. But... Rats!

Don't worry, you get a spiffy cane and a nice comfy rocking chair as perks. You also get to holler at the whippersnappers "Get off my lawn!"

Plus you can get away with being a dirty old man... Win!

You can also format your text before you turn it into a link...

(copy desired URL)

Highlight desired text
Bold desired text
Color desired text

Link it! (paste URL into popup box)

You can do this for links in your sig, as well.

One of my favorite comments for the past several years, especially as things begin to creak and ache a bit more, has been as follows:

Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Bad news for you CMA, I've used a cane off and on since I was 14, have had my own comfy rocking recliners for years (often with heat and massage built-in, I like 'em really comfy) and I've hollered "Get off mah lawn" at people since I was around 8.

And I've been a dirty old man most of my life and usually gotten away with it. D.O.M. doesn't rely on age, it's all in the attitude and mostly a state of mind.

When we were first testing the vBulletin software during one of the Beta's, I made it a point to start digging into some of the "how-to's" of things I'd been doing for a long time on the uBB forums.

I found a link on the forums that really made me happy. It's still there in the Posting Rules box at the bottom of each page. Just click the BB code link in that box. Or maybe click the Smilies link. On either of those pages, you will find a link to the FAQ that has some interesting links and information in it. Remember that some of the things you'll find mentioned there are disabled for players on our forums, such as Reputation and Attachments.

Whatever you do, don't click the Forum Rules link in that box. Bad things happen there man. Bad things.
