Quote:...The only thing more tiresome than the people who care about purples are the people who aggressively don't care about purples and expect the former group to think them so very impressive because of that.
Uh yeah, sure.
Mostly i think it's more that some people think that many of the set bonuses found outside of purples are more useful than the set bonuses common to most purple sets. Builds that use every purple set that can be slotted instead of other sets usually do not perform as well as other more focused builds. But then again i think you were just making an inflammatory post for the sole purpose of trying to create some sort of forum drama. That's sort of cute and silly. *pats on Talen Lee on the head* -
Quote:i would spend points to be able to do this. Especially if it included a set bonus list.I wish there was a way to dump all of your powers in [bracket] form into a single tell, just for this occasion.
As in, literally all of them. -
Quote:And most awesome builds are not filled with "Ultimate x" set bonuses unless they're extremely reliant on recharge bonuses. Even then purple sets are rarely worth six slotting. You can spend billions on enhancements, but if the set bonuses you're getting aren't complementary to your build then they're a waste of money. Equally, you can make certain combinations very survivable with just SOs.
Set bonuses do not an awesome build make, but awesome builds usually have a lot of set bonuses. -
You can also buy a monthly invention license if you're a Preemie that allows you to make and slot IOs for about $5 worth of points a month. (Less if you purchase points in bulk.)

Yeah, because SS works soooo well in tunnels. *pfft* Yeah, i don't use teleport in cramped maps except when it's useful. Like... i don't know... getting to the other side of a crowded fight to help teammates or line up cones. Or teleporting into the middle of a crowd to fire off a PBAoE or three...
-
i think about .05% of my alts use SS+CJ. Far more use teleport.

Quote:Only evidence is a video? Uh, i take it then that logging into the game and calling up power descriptions with detailed info for every power doesn't count? While I agree, and would love to see something like this, I do not think they will ever do it. Reason being: Staff Melee has not been officially even mentioned by anyone at Paragon Studios (the only evidence being a video of moves that surfaced for about an hour one day) and look how much talk that has garnered here on the forums.
Okay then. -

i have a steampunk themed alt named the Retrofuturist, but i haven't been playing him much lately. i have a definite concept that will have to wait until issue 21.5 comes out that i will most likely play the heck out of when that happens.

Quote:It's the resolution, not the size. As far as I can tell, the shot is the same width as my monitor, which is 1080x1920. Mine is a 23" HD widescreen.

*facepalm*
Y'know though, this is exactly the reaction and level of insight i was expecting from you.
You: Dey never improves anything! Dey suxxor!
Someone else: Here's a fix and/or improvement coming soon.
You: Yeah, so what? Ain't nothin'.
*pause for a few beats*
You: Dey never improves anything ever!
And that's why i usually pay you no mind. (That and your writing style gives me a headache if it's more than the usual three or four sentence fragments.) -

On beta now:
Base Editor: Free Vertical Placement and Rotation- Added the ability for players to move base objects horizontally and rotate them about the vertical axis freely.
- While placing an object, if the player holds SHIFT, they can move the object vertically.
- Once placed vertically, if they wish to move the object again and maintain the vertical placement, they can hold the CTRL key.
- If they do not use the CTRL key, the object will snap to the first encountered ground the cursor is placed over.
- If the player holds ALT, they can rotate the object about the vertical axis.

Quote:Pretty much this.I don't know how derailed the conversation has gotten, but as one who has 'earned' some of that Transformation Power 'glory' I'll toss in my two cents.
The only Transformation power I currently have is for the Freakshow Tank Smasher. I earned it not just being in the right place at the right time, but actually earned it as part of a Freakshow character background contest the Dev's sponsored here on these forums.
I was kinda giddy that I actually won it, but I'll tell you something right up front...
I don't care if anyone else has it; from a con, purchased in the store, or just because someone emailed them a free code just because they liked them. Don't care. In fact, if having it makes them happy, I'm happy for them. Maybe we can all league up, turn 'em on, and go buck wild through a zone just to mess with people's heads
Someone else having it for any other reason doesn't diminish how I got mine. Plus, I have more things in my life to feel accomplished with than a bit of digital fluff in an online game.
Without any desire to be snarky, but purely honest- If the exclusivity of a costume power in an MMO is worth getting upset over, I think one should re-evaluate one's priorities in life.
I'm really happy about how I got mine, but I don't ever want to limit anyone else from getting it either. Plus, with them currently on sale, I may buy one, so now I'm not limited either. They're a little pricy so I haven't decided yet. However, the PPD is very tempting...
i don't even begrudge people earning the Zookeeper badge in one tenth the time it took for some of my characters; it just gives me the option to use the "in my day we had to walk five kilometres uphill through waist-deep snow both ways" spiel. Besides, i also have several costumes with pieces that haven't been available to players for years. Which, i don't know, counts as earned glory, in some way, i guess. -
Quote:Faathim: playername, I have come to feel that I can trust you. Here, have this stone that is psionimystically linked to a stone i hold. Just say the word engraved in it while holding the stone and we may speak. In his defense, Faathim is imprisoned by some pretty potent magic.
That said, it's quite lame from a quality of life standpoint.
*hands player a smooth ovoid stone with "poot" scratched on one side*
Player: Where's your stone?
Faathim: (looking uncomfortable) I am imprisoned, and must conceal my secrets from my jailers. It is... well hidden. Please, inquire no more about it. -
This thread has delivered everything the title lead me to expect. Thanks to RemusShepherd for being a convincing heel.
(You know, every time i saw one of those WWE wandering-backstage-looking-for-drama-and-or-a-fight soap operas it left me with the impression that there were no faces anywhere in professional wrestling, just heels of varying levels of repulsiveness and jackholery.) -
Quote:*sighs* Yeah, he really seems to be missing a few clues. i suspect he just runs to the end of each of life's missions and clicks the glowie without reading the text.
Considering that there have been rude, arrogant posterior headgarments since the day the game launched, and VIP is just the new term for subscriber, and a subscriber is anyone who is paying monthly regardless of how long they've been playing or how smart they are, i don't see how a subscriber only server would be any guarantee of player quality. Which in itself can be pretty subjective.
Quote:I guess I think of codes and such the same way. People have to be really devoted to go to a con and stand in line for hours waiting for them. Yes they paid to get there but it took devotion to do that.
Quote:As for the VIP digs. I felt the same about that. I've paid my account regulary for many years now whether I've had time to play or not. Yes, again, it does cost me money, but it takes devotion to maintain my accounts regularly. I thought the VIP statice was going to be a way to reward players who maintain their accounts regularly not just as a way to seperate the paying accounts from the free accounts. I just read more into it then there was ever going to be The first few days on Exaulted were so packed with great players it set my expectations for the server really high.
Not to mention i've met many players who have been subbed a few months at most who are amazing players and i know several players who have been subbed for over five years who are barely adequate at the game. Nice people, but don't really get it when it comes to how the game works. Also, i know of jerks who've been around since launch and they're still jerks. i generally don't team with them since i care most about whether a teammate is fun.
Seriously, to establish a server of only friendly, skilled players would require hiring several dozen employees to monitor combat and chat logs to evaluate each account on an individual basis. i suppose you could cut it down to each monitor only having to review several thousand accounts in depth if you gated it by requiring several years of sub time first, but it's still an absurd assumption. That, or you were thinking servercorn magic would handle it.
And if they added a requirement that Exalted players write clear, correct English it would be limited to maybe a few dozen people. For example, neither Arcanaville, you, or i would qualify. (Although i suspect they'd catch you on the friendly and helpful clause anyway.) -
A couple of the ranged attack animations do something similar where instead of standing on your toes (i think that's what the original mocap was) your ankles stretch up about four inches. Looks slightly odd if you're looking closely at the animation, but not very noticeable in combat.

Quote:Nah, it's a lack of caring and/or knowing simple strategies keeping them down. You don't have to spend much time with the market at all to make hundreds of millions. i have several alts who accidentally ended up with over a billion and a half on hand while i wasn't paying attention. Its the not wanting to sit and market for hours thats keeping them down lol.
If you make a small effort you can rake in hundreds of millions a day with only a few stops at the market. Usually i only do that when i have something specific i want to do, like acquire sets to complete a build. The funny thing is that if you start playing the market to get the IOs you want for a build it's actually pretty easy to end up with far more inf than you started in addition to getting the IOs. -
What with CoH running on servercorns now i suspect the OP expected the Devs to harness servercorn magic to select those worthy of being chosen for Exalted. "Have a servercorn **** rainbows on them from orbit; it's the only way to be sure."

Quote:The Market & Inventions forums right in these very forums regularly feature such offers."off-market" what the--? What do you mean? You broadcast you have this recipe and wait till someone contacts you? Or are there forums for this sort of thing?
The details of how the transaction is managed vary. -
Quote:But I think it was done for two reasons:

2. To make it harder to spot goldfarmer/spambot characters.

Well then obviously the next step is having the character creator put random combinations of words in the name box so that you can't tell from them having names like, "hjkgjkgjgj"... -
Quote:My Defender at 50 routinely tears through enemies that would've been difficult at 20. The other day i soloed Scirocco (as only an EB) when i was trying to click a door to trick or treat and it instead took me to a bank mission. i just wanted to finish the costume badges, so i rushed to the bank and took the lobby goons out and started dropping various traps. When emo-boy made it to the lobby he almost melted. At 20 even a weaksauce EB like Scirocco would've been a challenge, or at least taken a bit longer.Speak for yourself. On my most recently-fiftied character, I was constantly having to turn up the difficulty as I leveled to stay challenged.
Of course i have to acknowledge that a fair bit of that is abuse of procs. i've had Poison Trap one-shot minions, and unslotted it does no damage at all.
