Quote:I agree with your rant. I also find the quote apposite. It proves that while the Devs listen the rest of NC doens't give a flying cowpatO.k my thoughts and i dont give a **** if this gets edited.
what the ****!. why do the god dam amercians have to get everything.
i was looking forward to getting the box set physically. i have all the other except AE- where we was screwed again.
if you only want to prompt the game in bloody america then get rid of the EU servers and merge them into the USA servers.
i want an actually answer to this from a RED NAME. i really do i'm sick and tired of having EU (EU not just england) messed around becuase they dont want to spend pretty penny into helping out the game. you'd think with something like GR something thats going to improve the game 10 fold marketing or who ever decides on spending would go all out. I saw crap loads of stuff for aion yet for this game i dont see **** all except the odd mag acticle- thats not bloody good enough.
SORT IT GOD DAM OUT YER.
Yer i know "bad" language is not allowed but im sick of this. i love the game and all its theme and i enjoy the people in it...so WHY CAN'T WE GET MORE PEOPLE INTO THE GAME??? WHY DOES EU HAVE TO DIE. this is why more people play on the us servers- they know more about it.
take a page from WoW- PROMPT.PROMPT.PROMPT.PROMPT.PROMPT.PROMPT.PROMPT.
RAGE RANT OVER.
im not sorry if someone didnt like this post. but its about time people vented the anger at the lack of care for the EU.
EDITED:
just found this on: http://www.massiveonlinegamer.com/ne...at-going-rogue
clearly not with any marketing/prompting in the EU. if you did then we'd see something. clearly not though -
Quote:My partner started playing CoH because I did.
Mind you, I didn't start playing because I walked into a shop and saw the box. I saw a reference to the game at MMORPG.com. In fact, I've never walked into a game shop and bought a game because I saw it on the shelf. Not once.
As I said earlier, the lack of a box may result in some new players not becoming new players, but personally I don't have the knowledge to know to what extent that will actually affect player numbers. And, no, I don't consider 'common sense' to be an accurate judge of how much a box on a shelf means in these terms.
Still, far be it from me to stand in the way of another doom thread. Please continue.
Just because this isn't your experience doesn't mean you're correct. In this instance both you and Coming Storm are way off the pace. If you were correct then very few games would be sold on disk but the simple fact is, the majority still are and they are sold in retail outlets. I live in a relatively small town but there are at least three dedicated computer game shops. Because people buy stuff there.
Many, if not most, people are acquisitive by nature and enjoy owning tangible things, be it games, books, figures etc, and many many people are very open to impulse buying, when out shopping. People go into games shop just to see what's there and invariably come out with something.
With no physical box available, NCSoft have shot themselves and their game in the foot and their shareholders should be shocked at them!
As for the alleged market research that took place, I a) doubt it happened because sincerely doubt those resources exist in the EU any longer and b) if it did exist it is clearly very flawed.
For the record this is not a doom thread but Paragon Studios should take it as a swift kick up their backsides for being short sighted and forgetting about a significant sector of their revenue stream. -

So reading the thread from Avatea about purchasing the GR expansion I notice that the EU isn't going to get a box.
The specific paragraph is here (emphasis is mine for the specifics):
Quote:Why is this so? Is the EU held in such low regard? The release of GR would be a perfect time to grow the game globally, and yet the powers that be have decided they are only interested in the yankee dollar and not the Euro or the good old english £. It's one more example of how little importance NCSoft attaches to it's EU client base. The City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection costs $39.99 (29.99 / £26.99) and includes City of Heroes Going Rogue as well as City of Heroes, City of Villains, 30 days of game time, and the Complete Collection Item Pack. With the game time and previous expansions included, it is ideal for those who are new to City of Heroes franchise (perhaps as a gift!), but also a good value for players not interested in prepurchasing. The Complete Collection will be available both digitally and at retail (in North America) starting in July and cannot be prepurchased (only the separate expansion can be prepurchased).
That strikes me as very odd. It's a healthy revenue stream, and other games such as World of Warcraft make sure they are available in every shop. Not just the latest expansion either, but the entire game. Ironically you can still buy boxes of Guild Wars in my local shopping mall but CoH hasn't been seen there literally in years.
It's possible of course that it's logistically difficult to get the product into shops in the EU these days. Could that be because NCSoft gutted the EU offices? Odd that huh, don't you think?
We know where we are now with Paragon Studios. The message is very simple: If you're not in North America, you don't matter. -
Quote:Sorry, but that is really, really...Stupid.
Why not allow the complete edition for pre-order?
And why in seven hells is Europe getting the shaft AGAIN when it comes to retail? It sucked when it came to Architect edition, and it sucks again now! What the heck, man? Not amused. Not amused at all.

Plus /em confusion -
I would love to see a few more secondary sets in the game - blasters definitely need some new ones IMO
That said I think that releasing a primary and secondary at the same time can cause the odd issue... if you remember when dual blades and willpower were let loose on the lumpen proletariat, you couldn't move for DB/WPs in their variants. At least spreading it out, they get a bit of variation -

Kin/Elec defender, especially taking Elec Mastery and Power Sink.
No need for Fitness at all then theoretically but how much it would bring to the playability of the toon I don't know -

Defiant Loves YOU
Just saying hi from Defiant server to everyone whatever side you play, on whatever shard. Hope you got whatever you wanted from your loved one(s) - or at least that the cat brought you home a mouse or something
Have a great day, from Defiant Events

Welcome to the boards.
I'd suggest going your own way -
I did 12 points of damage to a Skul once. Does that count?

I know it's probably a pointless exercise speculating exactly what GR will actually be, and I don't really want to get into that - but it does occur to me that some ATs may become a bit redundant, or at least take a massive hit in popularity.
I can't help feeling that the Hero ATs will lose out at the expense of the Villain ATs. It's always struck me that a Crupper does a Fender's job most ably and in many cases a lot better, and although I've never played a scrapper to any meaningful level I can't imagine them offering anything better than a brute.
I could be wrong. I am not a "numbers" kind of person generally. I play because I enjoy the character, not because such-and-such a build is (allegedly) "uber". In fact I've had some real pleasure playing combos that may not obviously be good at fitting together and yet I've had fun - a lot of fun - doing so.
Villain ATs tend to be a little more "self-sufficient" in their nature I think and I can see a lot of Dominators in Atlas Park, but not so many Blasters in Grandville.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? -

in Linux there's a few Open Source Screensavers where you just plonk your own image in and it alternates them. I'd be amazed if a similar thing didn't exist for windows, but proprietary and probably not free

Quote:If it's easy to fix, it'd be nice if it was sorted, then.
The Architect Manager is a prime example of a talkie done right. He's not necessary to the rest of the game. You can go through the game without even touching AE if you dont want to. So he pops up, and thats that. You can leave him untalked to forever and a day if you dont want to see him.
The other talkies are put into place as actual missions, which take up a slot and, sometimes, cant be avoided.
I've had instances of getting a talky, dropping it, then getting ANOTHER god damned talky straight after!
That, in my opinion, is sloppy, leftover design. And I for one dont think its unreasonable to ask for it to be fixed.
Well the fix is largely in your hands. Get a Jet Pack and go do what needs to be done. I've had talkies one after the other too and sure, it's a bit of a pain but it's so minor I don't let it bother me -
Quote:Not really, SS. It's far from pointless when it comes to the core content of the game, especially blueside.
After GR, yes. That I can agree with, because GR is a big thing. But afterwards, I hope that WW doesnt do a Posi and put 'new shinies' over actually making sure the chassis of the game is still solid as it can be not with some glaring, rust filled holes in it.
See, I disagree.
I think the talkies are important, especially for a new player who doesn't necessarily know what's available. Only a relatively small percentage of the player base reads the forum or the various wikis... and as we've seen from many threads here a lot of people like to solo - so the other parts of the game need to be made available and the talkies are a pretty good way of doing that.
No, they aren't perfect but it's not like it's a massive chore to grin and bear it, and with travel powers being so easily accessible now, it's just simple to do what needs be done and move on. -
This is interesting and I like it.
Really good news!
Epics at 20? That sounds cool... the question is, will it be HEATS and VEATS as we have now or is there something else coming unlockable at 20? -
Quote:"The Shadow knows..." would take on such a different meaning if it were only "Shadow knows..." Who the hell cares about Shadow? We're talking about The Shadow, here! In which case, "The" is more like a title or an honorrific than an article. Grammers be-damned!
Would have ruined the Coaster's song too! -
doesn't really take too long - and once it's done it's done. This is mostly a pointless whinge and fixing it will take valuable Dev time for new shiny stuff.

Busses
Busses that stop at bus stops and pick people up and set them down
Busses that heroes can use -
Quote:Couldn't disagree more. The Hollows arcs are some of the best in the game if taken in the round and you actually stop to read the stories - although I'd agree there had been an overemphasis on making heroes actually do those arcs too often and so there was a feeling of zone "burnout."hero side the low levels are a tremendous waste of time and do the game no favors. It is a parade of ancient, pointless content that reflects the mindset and technology in play at launch, not the current reality.
That pretty well stopped once the police band missions provided the Jet Packs, and once the Hollows was revamped.
To the OP: I really enjoy the first 20 levels and my principal reason is simply this - I like to develop a "feel" for my character. I like to know if it's worth continuing to play and generally by the time I'm on my cape mission I'll have a pretty good idea. I have alt-itis pretty bad so often the crunch comes around 20, but I'd say generally it's about 20 levels for me to decide if I actually like the toon from a concept and a game play stance. Some times they will get remade, sometimes they will go to the great graveyard in Dark Astoria never to be seen again.
