I must admit the waiting is making me anxious!

sounds like taurine excreta to me

I have spent a lot... I mean a lot... of time in this game.
And I have had a bast doing so! The numbers are less relevant than the enjoyment I've had -
Ah it's the weekend isn't it.
Bet the OP is a bloke too! -
There is an argument for updating the models and/or engine, and Freedom would've been the perfect opportunity. Hell I'm amazed GG hasn't mentioned the unmentionable animated hair, and the skeletons do look rather dated.
That said, I'm more about content and game play than the pretty and I tend to agree with Noble Savage when he says there's a lot of work for not a huge impact. I'm guessing that if Freedom works well for the NCSoft beancounters then we may get a bit more shiny love -
-
Personally I'd much prefer Paragon to work on resolving stability issues rather than an iPhone shiny. I don't have an iPhone and have no desire to own one.
Also wanted to add my voice to those who really appreciate what the Titan Network do. I am not the most prolific user but I love the stuff they produce. -

You took the words right out of my... -
however people feel about it... the Devs plan is working... because it's got the community talking at length and speculating.
I would guess it's not going to be somebody with a TF because that could be tricky to manage - which would (sadly) preclude the death of Synapse (tho I actually like his TF)
Statesman isn't gonna die... he's the signature character.
BAB has no role with the revamp of Galaxy - and with Chris Bruce who took his name on the boards gone, then he could well be a candidate for the spanish archer. He also has no TF to worry about. -

if someone is to die... let it be synapse

Quote:So now there's two distinct theories.
1) Photoshopping/Artist/Marketing error. Supported by Z. Seems the more likely cause at this time.
2) Prelude to Freedom. Manticore is dead/missing/whatever, and the team is bearing his quiver (maybe bow too) for sentimental reasons. Also explains Sister Psyche's absence.
We know that Statesman is an ineffective leader (in and out of game) - and that there is a leadership gap in the FP.
If Manticore is dead... Sister Psyche could well be the new heroic "avenger" leading from the front and seeking to put the genie back in the bottle - by any means necessary. Arguably she's always been one of the most powerful members of FP - but her light's been hidden under a bushel so to speak. With the original Calvin Scott TF resurrected in Ouro that kind of paves the way for the Sister Psyche TF to be buried in Ouro too... and her to take control of the Freedom Phalanx to fight back at all the enemies Statesman was too incompetent to overcome.
Maybe there's more significance to "Freedom" than we initially anticipated. -
I'm not completely sure if I've understood your post correctly - because you first say "for the caster" then you say you swapped toons and the phenomenon still occurred.
But my 2nd fave char is an Earth/Thermal and I've never experienced this - either undue aggro on myself having cast shields, nor have I noticed (or ever had complaints) that those I shield get more aggro.
I'm not able to find the exact detail myself but I believe that MM's draw twice as much attention as all other ATs, so maybe that's a factor -
Despite the clusterwossname with the image - the first impression I got was that Freedom Phalanx are in trouble there - missing some members and looking like they are under attack from all sides. That's not a representation we've seen before. Traditionally they're portrayed as the bastion (pun intended) that keep Paragon safe from all threats. When the "regular heroes" (ie us) fail, then Freedom Phalanx step in and sort it out.
To me this image indicates that they may no longer be the failsafe saviours of Paragon.

For me it will vary
Sometimes I'll create a character to try out a power set combo I've never experienced just to see how well they work (word to the wise, never build a Mind/TA troller to solo lol.) In that case I'll put the basics down in the creator then once I'm happy with the cossie I'll spend a half hour or so cuddling with my lovely thesaurus and coming up with a name that suits the build.
Other times I've come up with a notion for a character and then try and build the toon in world. That may or may not involve a name - but I'm currently mulling one over that could be fun if I can get the build right. The idea struck me recently and I'm just toying with the idea. Here's what I have so far: "First, there was Nevada Smith, then came Indiana Jones. Now it's time for.... Albuquerqe Higginbottom."
Other times there may be some other inspiration - I've a pretty cool defender called Angel of Mons, based on the legend of the B.E.F's first encounter with the German army at Mons. She became a Defender first, given the legend, and then her powers were Radiation Emission/Ice Blast - and tho I say it myself her cossie does suit the concept using mostly wedding, valk and ninja costume items.
There's no fixed way for me. It's however I feel when inspiration strikes -
I think this is largely an unnecessary worry.
Existing subscribers will largely continue to subscribe. They may let their second or 3rd account lapse and go f2p but I strongly suspect that the majority of regular players will continue to subscribe.
I suspect also that there will be a lot of returning players - even if for short periods - those who either a) love the game but can't afford it b) like it but don't want to pay for it and c) those who don't really like it but have some good friends who do so will play for free to hang with them and d) those who love it but are so time limited the cost of a sub isn't justifiable. I personally know a few people who are looking forward to returning once Freedom lands so that's a good thing.
Will the VIP server split the community? I doubt that it will as much as many fear. I won't be leaving my "home" server in any hurry and I strongly suspect many others won't either. Sure, I'll spend some time on the VIP server but when my non-VIP friends return I'll spend time with them too. It'll balance out - just like the global server access has.
I don't often say this but I genuinely trust Paragon Studios to watch this very carefully and to tweak it as they go - they have a proven track record at keeping this game going despite seven years of "Doooooooooooooooooooom" from many of the community - and it gets bigger and (mostly) better with every issue. They really are not going to screw with a profitable revenue stream. NCSoft's share price is pretty solid and they know what they need to do. Remember they also run one of the oldest F2P games and still make money out of it. They have some serious experience in this area - so give them the benefit of the doubt. -
on one sense I can see some good coming out of this. There is an argument there are too many zones at lower level and maybe taking one out is a good thing. But as with all things that pass there's an element of "OMG don't take something familiar away and change it for an unknown quantity."

Quote:Well said... maybe it would've been better to turn somewhere like Boomtown into the new training zone... leaving Galaxy as isYeah. That's also a biggie. About the only way I can stand starting someone on Freedom, when friends talk me into it.
Yeah, but by the time you get to Ouro... it's just not the same as starting there, having to sprint around and dodge Vahz, or - as mentioned - trying to get those badges with no travel powers. (Which, admittedly, you almost need to remember to shut OFF these days, with all the packs, temps, etc.)
It's like growing up somewhere, leaving and coming back twenty years later. A lot of that magic is just... gone. That place you hung out with friends is turned into a strip mall, the bike trail is paved over and turned into a road... just not the same. -
There's some important stuff in Galaxy... the Warshade story is centred there, and of course some essential badges and plaques are based there.
In many ways I preferred Galaxy for a new toon although with GR I mostly start in Praetoria these days but that will change with Freedom - for at least a while.
I'll miss a lot about Galaxy but on the other hand, I remember looking at Skyway in the Sutter TF and being genuinely moved. "Look what those bastards did to our city!!!!" so I'm excited to see how the changes to Galaxy look and feel too. -

without reading all responses here, I'm liking the look of this a lot!!!!
Also the question of magic and Cole's "stranglehold" on it is interesting.
Transmuter may have an interesting point to make on it... or perhaps not. -
They did fix it.
Then people couldn't post at all.
So they rolled it back. It's the lesser of two very evils -
