  1. I can fire up the launcher when my PC starts. I can start it manually.

It sits there in its tray doing nothing. But, once I play the game, it crashes. Usually it has the courtesy to wait til I'm at a really life or death juncture and I'm reaching for that rarely used power that will just keep me alive... then suddenly "The NCSoft Launcher has crashed and must be restarted" with the "Okay" or "Exit" buttons (seriously? two buttons for the same frikin result?)

Let's face it... the launcher is junk and we were forced into it but it's an unreliable piece of excreta that's clogging up my PC and I LOATHE AND DETEST IT WITH A PASSION!

It's getting to be close to a deal breaker for me
  2. What I take from this thread is what I've always known: Language is mutable, and inconstant.

Remember when we were kids, we learned our parents tongue, their idioms and intonations. As we grew and matured, at adolescence we formed our own exclusive lexicography and phraseology.

Then as our careers and futures burgeoned, we embraced our mainstream futures, and the notions of a civilised society, and modified our parlance accordingly.

Thus, having engaged with our peers at a multiplicity of levels, we decimated them.

Also the ones doing the charging don't really need to charge, the farm by itself gives them epic tons of inf.

I saw somebody charging 10 mill inf to team on a farm. I don't think you'd make 70 mil in one farm. I'm amazed this isn't something that contravenes the EULA

  5. I was trying to choose a character for the WST to get my Notice of the Well. It took me 5 goes to choose one that hadn't got the T4 Alpha slotted - and prompted me to think what we need is something like a pop-up or mouse-over data scroll on character selection just giving some basic data such as this:

    XP to Next Level
    Incarnate Slots Unlocked
    Tier Slotted per Power
    Influence
    Supergroup Affiliation
    Powersets: Primary/Secondary/APP

There's probably some other stuff but it would be incredibly useful when deciding which character to play. One of the benefits of this game is that with so many potential characters, makes it tough to remember what each toon does and this would be a great help.
  6. I tried visiting my legacy origin contact with a new toon and they wouldn't talk to me. Like the OP I really don't much like the newer content but it's entirely skippable with a few DFBs and the go do some good stuff.
  7. Surely a more effective way to combat the RMT spammers would be to stop people demanding payment for AE farms on Freedom.
  8. A more relevant question regarding Azuria is simply: Why?

And the rock she gets tied to is really a sybian

  10. We rescue some humans from an alternate universe that turn out to be Trolls IIRC. I think they are from a good universe.

The problem with the whole alternate universe thing is it just turns into a tangled ball of mess very quickly.

    Comic Relief

How about a travel power that's a similar to a Segway, but smacks you face first on the floor when you stop and when you start takes ages for the wheels to spin up then shoots off at speed leaving you behind for a second?

Sporting items - I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a cricket bat!!!!!!

A pistol that when used a flag pops out of the end that says "FREEM" (and does massive damage?)

A rifle/mortar/BFG that shoots a range of comedy ammo, including but not limited to hamsters, water melons, tampons and/or diapers (used and unused options for extra negative damage) and glittery ponies etc

A long range single zone teleport power: Take a hole out of your pocket and put it on the floor, jump in the hole and appear at a random location within the same zone. (A door would also work: Rez a door and walk through it)

The Magician's Top Hat: summon a table with a top hat on it, pull a rabbit from it and throw it at the enemy for huge exploding damage or comedy effect. Comedy and fun but a lot of risk cuz of the long rooted animation time.
  12. Thinking about this and reading responses, I'm feeling (it's an emotional response so take it any way you choose) along these lines:

There are now essentially two kinds of toon: Ranged or Damage.

The following ATs are mostly obsolete: Tanks, Defenders & Blasters - there's plenty of other toons that do their job as well if not better.

You probably won't lose anything by playing an obsolete toon, because it's hard to quantify the "fun factor" but if you care about numbers then you will probably have to choose carefully whatever you decide to play!

Anything a Defender can do, a Corruptor can do almost as well and output a significant amount more damage. Anything a Tanker can do, a Brute can do almost as well and output a significant amount more damage. There's nothing in the game that a Defender can do that a Corruptor can't, and nothing in the game that a Tanker can do that a Brute can't. And the Corruptor and Brute would output a lot more damage while doing it.

I see what you're getting at but I'd maybe make the point that a Dominator with Perma-Dom up is probably up there in terms of damage with a blaster and has a far better secondary (in terms of survival) than most blasters. Obviously that's not the easiest comparison to make, given the varying damage types... but most blasters are pretty underpowered compared to other ATs and their lack of mitigation - that's even with Defiance 2.0 in place.
  14. Maybe instead of "Maintenance" they should replace the forum software for something that actually works!
  15. I only recently started playing melee toons, after close to 5 1/2 years. Previously I'd only ever gotten one brute and one WS to 50, to abandon them to a languishing retirement.

But I'm beginning to get into them now but I've kind of noticed that there's little advantage to playing a tank or scrapper compared to a brute. That seems to be my own experience and supported anecdotally from various threads and comments on the forums.

I'm sure that's likely to be contentious with some, but it's a good reflection of how I feel, but I'd take this a stage further because it ties in with something else I've been feeling for a while - that there's a shift from "AT individuality" to homogenity... the distinctive flavour of different ATs being either diluted or morphed into something less than it was.

As with my above example, there seems to be less reason to roll anything other than a brute - but I've been "bothered by blasters" for a little while now. I mean, why play a blaster nowdays? The purpose of a blaster is to deliver high damage from range - the Devs concept was a "glass cannon" I believe. But if I want to play a high damage ranged toon, I'd be much better off playing a Dominator, a Corrupor or even more likely, a Soldier of Arachnos or a Kheldian - they can all dish out damage - and any advantage the blaster has in terms of damage is countered by the amount of time spent faceplanted. All other ATs have mitigation to improve their survivability, so if their damage is reduced, they can manage it for longer.

As for Corruptors and Defenders, there's barely any distinction I can see... Maybe a crupper dishes out a bit more damage in exchange for slightly less potent de/buffs but I'm not expert on those ATs so can't comment too far.

With Going Rogue, and moreso with Freedom, I feel that three ATs have effectively been neutered due to obsolescence - and so leaves a smaller pool to draw from. We're potentially in danger of a "one size fits all" AT with a few exotic types around the edges - but that's probably overstating the case.

I'm not sure if there's an easy answer and I'm pretty sure that this isn't something the Devs intended but it would be good to have a bit more distinction between some of the ATs at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

We have many years of evidence to know EU members are the red-headed stepchild when it comes to NCSoft.

  20. I dunno about you guys but I'm struggling to keep up with all the channels I'm in on Exalted. Most of them seem to be duplicating info anyhow - especially EXALTED-UNITED (sorry for shouting) and Exalted Events, but it's becoming an issue for me since I need other channels for the other servers I play on.

    Currenlty I'm in:

    Exalted LFG
    Exalted League
    BMT of Exalted
    EXALTED-UNITED
    Exalted RP
    Exalted Events

How do you guys manage and would it be an idea for the leaders to put their heads together and think about consolidation?
