Pretty hard to deny the logic of this
-
I can't agree for some of the reasons stated. One of the things you can use your 2nd build for is to do long term testing, which isn't always feasable on the Test Server due to lack of teams etc.
With SOs you can get a good overview, that you can then either translate to your primary build or work towards building as an independant entity.
You could even run it as a totally seperate toon with the same powersets and thus do different things with it.
On my main blaster I have one "ranged" build and one "blapper" build. It can be fun -
Ok I'm kinda wondering where this came from and hope somebody can explain
As far as I know the only inherent to have been changed is Defiance because that was a bit poo really. But (and I'm very happy to be corrected here) the other inherents are "as is" - the same from day one.
So that means that they've been going for almost 5 years.
This isn't one of the most popular topics for discussion so I'm guessing that they ain't that broke, and if that's the case, why fix it? I would be very loathe to see Dev time being directed at something that's not really necessary, but then I'm a firm believer that change for its own sake is a waste of energy (and frequently misdirected.)
I'm not a great player of melee toons, but for me the other inherents seem to work fine. -

Sounds good to me cant wait to have a play about with it.
also just read thru

I would guess that the thing that has Requiem all hot and bothered is the Kheldian eating beings that twilightson mentions when you talk to him.
Which dose kind of scuppers my theory that the creatures he was talking about were nictus tho i suppose they still could be.

We're sorry but the page you are looking for cannot be found. It is possible you typed the address incorrectly, or that the page no longer exists. Here are some additional steps you can take...
* Make sure you entered the correct web address.
* Get your bearings on the City of Heroes home page. -
/r doesn't work if somebody sends you a tell between your reciept of the broken tell and your reply.
Anecdotally - this seems to be actually getting worse, not better. Is there any news? -

This matters to the EU because?

This is the most important point. It makes no difference to us as we won't be in it, unless we have a US account of course. We won't see sod all till the open beta stress test begins.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not necessarily true.
There's been at least one issue in recent release that got closed beta on the Test Server - I11 or I12 IIRC - the Rikti issue at any rate -
I have only ever had about 3 purple recipes drop even on my big toons.
I reckon I'm doing something wrong -

Aye - devs definitely need to stock some more of those copies in shops.
[/ QUOTE ]
Souldn't the devs be working on the game instead spending their time jetting around the world to stock game store shelves?
[/ QUOTE ]
They would do themselves and the numbers and the community a big favour if they released a shiny new updated edition covering all issues up to and including I13 with a few extra shinies, like exclusive cossie parts and nice extra powers (a la Jump pack/Pocket D powers.)
That would encourage stores to stock the game more - and they can certainly justify it since now CoX is one game, not 2 -

This must be the effect of that new global warming religion.
You know, the one where:
if it warms up it's due to global warming
if it gets colder it's due to global warming
if it rains it's due to global warming
if it doesn't rain it's due to global warming
if it snows it's due to global warming
if it doesn't snow it's due to global warming
if it's windy it's due to global warming
ad flamin' infinitum...
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't start this discussion please. Not on a game forum at least.
Of course we all know WHO is responisible for the snow right?

We seem to be having a "snow event" according to Auntie BBC.
Ahh, the perennial British occupation of talking about the weather and show the country a snowflake and it grinds to a halt.
Nice idea ML but I'm gonna stick indoors and keep warm! -

Absolutely astounding and incredibly imaginative - brilliant execution too.

Ahh, swearing, so many views, so personal. I was talking with a friend about this today as we decided as New Zealanders we swear more than the English do. Or at least find it less offensive.

heh, let's compare notes next time the Black Caps are over and Vettori fumbles a catch -
It rarely bothers me.
Mostly I see it as the growing up process - when you're 12, it's a big part of pushing boundaries, and learning what you can get away with. If you become a squaddie that remains with you for life and becomes part of your every day linguistic intercourse (yes I did just say that).
There are very few words that are proscribed IMO. Maybe the odd word beginning with the third letter of the aphabet... but most other stuff is fair game and doesn't bother me. -
Quick note to say thanks to everyone who turned up. We actually ended up with 2 full teams - tho ours took longer than team 2. Grats to everyone - proof positive that Positron isn't as bad as some would have you believe.
We took an age doing it but bearing in mind we lost someone 1/3rd of the way in and 5 members of the starting team were level 10 at start.
Lots of fun. Psynapse next week -

Many people have been playing this game for freaking years. It's going to get pale, boring and staid for you.
Yes, it sucks to leave behind something familiar that you've gotten a lot of enjoyment from, but the devs just can't make some magical change that you won't eat up and spit out in five seconds that revolutionises the core gameplay and makes the world of CoX shine again. It's not going to happen. Blizzard are doing that, big expansion pack, same basic game, veterans go at it like a group of hyenas on downed prey and in no time at all are baying for more with bloodied snouts.
Anyone truly that bored with the game, I implore you, for your own good, leave. You've had enough. The well is dry. You've explored the whole island. Hang around and you'll just be loitering in a bus station for a bus that's never going to come. Ok, enough of the analogies. Just find something else, before you get so damn annoyed that you can't find the joy you used to have with the game, it completely ruins all the joy you used to have with the game!
It's not some 'please shut up' request, it is, surprisingly, me trying to get you (whoever you are) to do the best for yourself. It's all about having fun after all, and if that's not happening because you've seen and done it all....you need to go find something else to play with. I'm not saying the game shouldn't continue to develop and added to, but damn, some of you just sound like you're done with this game. Stop making it painful for yourself, you're spending close enough to ten quid a month to be annoyed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree, and I'll try to explain why.
I think that when I joined the game there was a certain level of difficulty. Since then two things have happened:
I have learned how to play the game a lot better.
the game has been "dumbed down" in a number of areas - meanign it's a lot easier for even a novice player to take part.
Nobody can do much about the former, nor do I want, or expect them to. Hell if I didn't improve at the game the amount I play there's eitehr something badly wrong with me, with the game, or both
But there have been a number of significant steps to making the game a lot easier, I don't think many can deny that. This has taken place over a number of areas - from "smoothing the XP curve" to Temp powers, to virtual elimination of debt - to name a few.
To me, none of those measures have improved the game in any way, and in the case of debt, has actually proven to be detrimental to gameplay because it essentially removes any requirement to think about the game.
That doesn't mean I'm bored with the game at all. It means that I miss the times when we had to think about what we needed to do, in order to succeed, which is becoming increasingly rare. -
So fail it. Then do it next time properly.
Don't change it -

i have no idea how many times it's bin suggested nether how precisely it will work, but i do like to see something like a force blaster.
something like a blast with 3 force bubbles being shot out of your hands, each bubble has it's own chance of hit/miss.
and what about a force burst, just literally using force to burst some kind of force sphere around you like an explosion.
maybe you know something better for the force blaster, but it's my grip on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok but apart from the graphical differences what else do you see it doing? How do you envisage it being differnt to Energy Blast? I don't think anyone else is seeing your vision.
If it's the same except the look that's more power customisation isn't it? -
[ QUOTE ]
Still haven't seen anything in this thread that makes the game actually harder, just more boring, and annoying by making yourself crappier. That's not making the game harder, it's making yourself more useless. There's a difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
then why don't you suggest something that would work for you, instead of griping at everyone else's suggestions? -
[ QUOTE ]
Basically I think the community managers need to kick in and arrange a few good bashes, like the sirens invasion for pvp to take off.
If they did it on a regular basis, people would soon be expecting it and basically arrange it themselves if the CMs doesn't show up. I can't say I was much of a Bridger fan, but he did take part of the actual game, even of 'stone' will always win in my little world!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well nobody can say FNFC wasn't regular... and in that both Prox and I tried a few variations on a theme... I remember a lot of fun in Warburg one evening.
I firmly believe that if people try to organise events, then others will join in. But sadly not many do, and events don't happen spontaneously -
Yeah believe it.
Ok, first of all let me say a huge thanks to Nakai for organising the RV event last night (Sat 31st) on Defiant. It was - as I'm sure all participants, red and blue alike will agree - a blast. A load of fun, played in great spirit, with a lot of fun and excitement and shiny shiny shiny badges!
Also big props to those villains who participated to help us get the shiny stuff and add some extra spice to the night.
Now, I've been a pretty harsh critic of PVP in this game. I've never claimed to be a great PVPer, I'm very much in the casual category and with a penchant for squishies so I guess I'll always struggle and frankly I wasn't impressed by the I13 changes. That said, last night worked fantastically, which leads me to draw something of a revised conclusion - maybe it doesn't actually matter what changes are introduced, provided that the participants are there to play in the right spirit.
That's not to say that all changes are now "ok" but it was really encouraging to see and the mechanics of the game didn't (to me at least) have any negative bearing on the event.
Maybe there's hope for PVP after all... or maybe it's just cuz it was on Defiant -

How about the previously questionnaired Universal Enhancement Slots?
I think that was one of the best ideas the devs had. The only downside to it being that they stated that the extra slots, while universally affecting the character's powers, would effectively be "Level 51-60", and as such likely to be lost when Exemped down. I still think it's a great idea, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
This works for me better than the OPs suggestion but I am also with Princess when she says the game's easy enough -
[ QUOTE ]
I would rather see enemy buffs than self-debuffs. I worked hard to get my characters to where they are and losing that defeats the whole point of that effort.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was more after the enemies being buffed for the player rather than debuffing... in a similar way that Rikti and Zombies are auto-levelled
