  2. Positron is Nemesis.

Did you guys hear that Nemesis is going to be in Going Rogue?
  3. I am looking forward to switching sides and having much better quality stories and missions to play.
  4. 4 points is definitely enough to effectively farm on the battle maiden map.

    Trying again...

I'd look into getting the accolades that increase your hit points, then I'd try to get atleast 30% ranged defense using set bonuses, manuevers, combat jumping, weave, etc...
  6. There are some glaringly huge problems with your build. You didn't take Snap Shot or Boost Range? You want Snap Shot for when you're mezzed so you can chain aimed and snap shot together. You definitely want Boost Range for just for the awesome 60% increase in range. I'd suggest dropping Accrobatics and Assault and picking those up, I slotted a Karma Knockback protection into combat jumping, swiped some slots from Hibernoob and poof permanent hasten.

Even so, +regen is of marginal use to both */WP and */Regen. It's more pointless for a */Regen simply because */Regen has more damage recovery capability (~70 hp/sec compared to ~50 hp/sec, w/ SOs assuming 5 targets in RttC), but it's still rather redundant to add another 12% regen when you're already packing more than 500-600% regen already (that's 400-500% +regen, btw). The comparative advantages just aren't present like they are for sets that already have decent natural damage mitigation.

Try out this thought exercise: assume two sets achieve the same survivability. One achieves it through standard regeneration and native damage mitigation, and the other achieves it through 500% +regen and a tad bit of mitigation. Adding an extra 10% +regen is going to increase the first set's survivability by roughly 10% (100% regen to 110% regen is a 10% increase in survivability) whereas increasing the second set's survivability by roughly (600% to 610% is an increase of 1.67%). The comparative benefits are substantially lower.

(And now it's time for me to grind an axe with Castle) For an even more interesting look into the wonderful world of IO design preference, take these same two sets and look into adding an extra 5% damage mitigation. With 60% mitigation (roughly average for SOs), 5% more mitigation is going to generate an 14.3% increase in survivability ((1-.6)/(1-.65)). With 5% mitigation, it's going to generate a 5.55% increase in survivability. Pretty much no matter how you do it, the mitigation set wins out simply because regen has a diminishing real contribution whereas mitigation has an exponentially growing real contribution (until you reach saturation, which is going to give you survivability on par with balls-to-the-wall levels of damage recovery anyway).

I know, of course, that the reason it was implemented like this was pretty much dictated by the game engine but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Ever since I started playing with IOs, I've always felt more than a bit burned by the fact that damage recovery sets get majorly hosed when compared to traditional damage mitigation sets (because Castle hates */Regen).
Till this day Castle hasn't ever answered my give regeneration recharge/regeneration debuff resistance pm, it makes me sad panda. I have considered why he hasn't and really can't come up with any logical answer. The only problem that I see regeneration with debuff resistance running into is in PvP.
  14. Those are good suggestions. I just wanted more flexibility in builds and figured this would be a good addition to it.
  15. I'd like to see some common enhancement damage procs created. Chance for fire, cold, negative, psi, energy, etc... Using a lower chance % then set damage procs and they'd have lower unresisted damage. The reason why is because it would allow for more flexibility in concept, say you have a katana/electric scrapper and you want to have your katana have a chance to do energy damage.

    What do you think?

It isn't a bad build at all, I'd probably take the Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown and slot it in Active Defense. Also six slotting stamina isn't bad
  17. I've seen 1 bs/shield while playing on virtue, I haven't actually see him die but I have seen him in the med bays so not sure how it plays...
  18. Santorican

    Psi/?

I say make psi/em and have fun. Especially in PvP...
  19. Looks like Val's build lol. You'll want to get the accolades but other than that I don't see much wrong with it. Personally I wouldn't skip build up, over time Tactics will give you more to hit but that damage buff is great for burst damage.
  20. Santorican

    DM/?

You do not need a lot of influence to have an excellent shield character. Do not listen to those saying that. It is easy to achieve 30 to 35% defense to all positions with a few cheap (read: under 1k influence a recipe) sets and the stead fast protection resistance/defense enhancement.

here is a cheap build I came up with that will be effective.

What toggles do you normally run?
  22. Fire/Regeneration is great for soloing, and arguably the best at PvP. Fire/Shield blows majorly in PvP but is great in PvE. If you want a fair amount of flexability I'd go with Fire/Regeneration.
