  1. Just a quick edit, I'm supposed to be doing hw

Switched the slotting in MG and Smite, you'll do more DPS due to allowing the Hecatomb and Clouded Sense proc to fire off more often

But I also throw in Fire Ball when it's up
    No, they do not lol.

I regularly run it in the 20 min range but thats because I regularly run two archers and a radiation defender on my team

Or maybe, just hear me out, just maybe people will learn the tactics.

Yeah I don't believe that either lol

I mean, England, China, Africa, they have all these myths and stories of magic that has a flavor unique to their experience.

The United States being a young country has much less of that. But what if that's because magic just hasn't coalesced in a form unique to the American experience yet. What would a magical hero, the analogue of the Honoree look like?

Two hours later, the POWER OF FREEDOM was level ten and I had another alt to work on. I didn't used to be like this. I used to play one or two characters at most in MMORPGs. Then some altoholic asked me to start an alt with him. He swore it wasn't addictive.

    Off to a meeting.
Hey just because I get drunk a lot doesn't mean you have to hate me! O you said altholics...........nvm
  7. I'd rather have all the blaster nukes be unique but on a short timer and lower damage

    PVP IO Question

    1. Glad proc, it adds 3% defense nuff said

    2. Shield wall proc, it adds 3% resistance, nuff said

    3. I have two ps procs and the panacea proc in my build and have never had any endurance issues. Healing is meh I think it heals 65 points every 10 seconds.

    Apex SF sucks!

Why not? Same reason you're help in an ITF and LGTF.
  10. Ha at build of the week, I see that I have corrupted you and you are on your way to the dark side of the force Elektro. I'll take a look at your build tonight when I'm all done with my school work.
  11. It depends on the time of day lol. Murcielago is constantly evolving so one build might use Touch of Death in Smite but another build might use Hecatomb and the Clouded Sense Proc for an example.

I get that DM/Shield is a powerful combo. I'm not trying to say it isn't.

My issue (and this holds true with ALL archetypes for me) is when players latch onto something and it becomes viewed as the BEST that AT can offer. Fire/Kin controllers, Stone tanks, Fire/Mental blasters, etc. all have gotten that treatment in the past.

It happens largely because people find something that a particular powerset combo is very good at, and sweep the things it isn't good at under the rug.

Yes, a DM/Shield will out-damage my BS/DA by a wide margin, but how well does it handle non-postional psi attacks, or insane to-hit buffs? From what I've seen, in the face of those two things, most DM/Shields will fold like a cheap card table.

Scrappers are the most well balanced AT as far as various powersets are concerned, and it's a disservice to the AT to imply that one powerset combo is the best and all the others suck in comparison.
I guess I should have said *most* groups lol. My Dark/Shield handles non positional psi attacks like 99% of every other scrapper secondary, face down or popping the purple pills.

But by what you said because Scrappers are melee centric they need damage mitigation, blasters have quite a few melee powers in most of their secondaries so they should have damage mitigation too.

What you just said scrappers do have a job on a team, doing damage, whether they have to do something or not, its still a job.

When a team is formed, it is implicitly understood that their goal will be to defeat enemies together. The reason they team up is because they offer something on top of damage output to other players. Tankers can absorb lots of damage that other ATs cannot. Blasters can defeat enemies quickly but can't weather a sustained assault. Defenders can't weather a sustained assault or defeat enemies quickly, but can enable another AT to do both better.* Scrappers, however, can already do lots of damage and take damage quite well. In joining a team, they don't empower a teammate and they don't need another AT to make up for their shortcomings.
You're right Scrappers don't empower a teammate, but that is not their role on a team. Their roll is to do lots of damage and that is it. By what you just said doing damage is not empowering a teammate so therefore blasters are worse than scrappers because they actually need to be looked after. A Scrapper can do a Blaster's job and do it with less risk because they have damage mitigation, and do not need any outside AT help to do so. So it is more beneficial to the team to have a Scrapper then a Blaster.

At this point the conversation has devolved into arguing about technicalities and some other BS. The original intent was to talk about why Scrappers have Taunt auras and the short answer is because they do, if you don't like it, don't pick the power or play the secondary.

I like optimizing my characters, but not to the point that I'm willing to rebuild it from scratch to gain 5 DPS.

My only real complaint with Shield Defense other than low level squishiness, is the fact that I don't like how a lot of powersets look with it.

DM/Shield in particular, is good at single target DPS, and not a whole lot else. Shield Charge doesn't really add enough AoE to raise DM's AoE from "mediocre" to "good" since it recharges so slow.

I suppose what I'm getting at is maybe you should play what you like and not worry so much about which one is "better", because "better" is a completely subjective term. What is better for one person's playstyle may not be better for another's.
Using saturated SD and AAo which is pretty regular in my play style I have no problem defeated any group of +2 x8 with DC+SC
