    Channel Name: Spines Superteam
    Status: Public
    Super Group: None (yet)

NEWS: We currently have an active group of about 4-5 people. We're all around level 10 or so. If you want to join us just make sure you add the channel to your chat box so you can see the pointless discussions going on :]

EDIT: We now have 11 people for sure that are going to do this. We're trying to get as many people as possible so as to group more often, therefore we'll always be open for anyone that is interested.

For now, our channel is open to everyone. Feel free to join it!

I've already posted this in the Archetypes & Powers forum, however, this seems to be the more appropriate place for such a thread :P

So far, we have about 4-5 people willing to do this. We have not started yet so you're willing to hop on.

Just thought it'd be fun to run around with 2 damage auras. I remember there being a Spine/Dark superteam way back in the days when Electric Armor and Fiery Aura wasn't available. I can just imagine it'd be better now since there are 3 secondaries to chose from.

If anyone is interested, please post and we'll give it a go. If by chance a lot of people want to do this, we can always split up into several teams. I plan on starting a Super Group and create a channel if we get a lot of people as well.

Since it's possible to email yourself Influence in game, any server is fine as long as we all agree on one.

Please leave your Global, time-zone, server choice and which secondary you plan on going with if you're interested!

    Anything to watch out for?

Well, I am starting a Spine/Elec, Spine/Dark and Spine/Fire superteam. It's the only thing you have to watch out for, since we plan on just steamrolling through stuff :P
  3. It's been a month since I've been back to CoH. I remember back then Broad Sword and Martial Arts Scrappers were arguably the best single-target DPS. Broad Sword because of its high numbers and Martial Arts because it has a couple powers that crit more often and smashing damage isn't as resisted as lethal damage.

Now that Fiery Melee is available for Scrappers, it seems as if this is the new DPS king.

From Mid's I can already see that the numbers are huge for Fiery Melee and it has faster recharge as well. Not only that, Fire/Smash damage isn't as commonly resisted as Lethal or Smash damage.

Is there a downside to playing a Fiery Melee Scrapper? On paper, it seems like it pretty much out-performs all other sets in terms of single-target damage. Then there's also the possibility of going Fiery Aura for Fiery Embrace as a second BU. As for AoE, Fire Sword Circle isn't that bad either; it probably is just behind Spines only because Spines has Spine Burst + Throw Spines.

Maybe you don't know, but Arcanaville isn't a person. It's actually a super computer.
  5. I'm even more confused now :[

So a higher regeneration rate means that the time between each tic is decreased, therefore it tics more often?
Also, regeneration is a flat +5% of your max hp per tic no matter what?
  6. Sounds like we have about 4 people so far, which is enough to start this.
Do you guys mind leaving your global so we can contact one another?

    Mine is @.spine
  7. What is it that increases the rate at which you regenerate HP? Normal +regen increases "regeneration rate" in that you recover more HP for each tic. However, how do you actually increase the interval of each tics?

I know that Instant Healing increases hp per tic as well as the rate of the tics itself. Does +regen in general just increases hp per tic AND tic interval?

We're just setting this up to do it as a team, all starting at level 1 or so. I don't think we'll have any high levels to be power leveling.

I would also like peoples opinion on the best melee pair for these two secondary's. My conclusion Regen has better survivability while WP has a great "all around" approach.
Well, the nice thing about regen is that it doesn't matter what kind of damage is coming your way, you can always heal/regen back up. However, regen does have its disadvantages as well. Most of its survivability lies within its heals, which are click powers with its own recharge and endurance cost. That being said, if your endurance is too low for some reason, you're not going to be able to use your heals. Also, click powers are prone to recharge debuffs, which means that anything that has decent recharge debuff is going to pretty much disable your heals.

    In general, regen's weaknesses are:
    > Endurance debuffs and endurance drain powers. Low endurance = unable to activate your heals, which is really all you have to "mitigate" damage.
    > Recharge debuff. You may be able to use all your heals the first time around, but they're not going to recharge fast enough afterward to be of any use.
    > Regen debuff. This is obvious, you rely on regeneration, therefore if your regen is gone you don't have any other form of mitigation either.
    > High maintenance. You have to watch your HP bar a lot. You also have to get the timing down for your heals, since you don't want to waste it and use it too early and you don't want to use it way too late.
    > Everytime you click a heal, you could have used that time to use an attack instead. As the fight drags on, you're wasting more time clicking heals than clicking your attacks and this does add up to a lot of wasted dps.

    As for WP's weaknesses:
    > No self heal. Sure you can take a beating, but eventually you're going to need that heal if the fight drags on.
    > Regen debuff. Just like regeneration, you do rely on your ability to regenerate hp quite a lot as well.

Personally, I think WP for Scrappers aren't really as strong as WP for Tanks/Brutes. But then again, it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Exactly, that's why I'm asking for everyone's time zone as well.

I'm Pacific Standard Time. Pretty much available in the morning and afternoon. I think I'll go Spine/Elec cause we have a /Fire and /Dark now.

  14. No need to keep your build a secret. All the info is already out there, the only thing left is if you have enough Influence/Infamy to make it happen.
  15. EDIT: Just to let you guys know, I've "moved" this thread to the Scrappers forum so further discussion on this topic over there would be appreciated :]

  16. Seriously? I swear Energy Torrent and Throw Spines will stop after it hits its target. Unless something changed recently, I remember having to target the furthest mob with my Throw Spines in order to hit most of the mobs.

Edit: Oops! Just checked again and you guys were right.
  17. Why aren't all cones like that of PB/WS's cone while in Nova form?

If you pay attention to most cone powers, you'll notice that if you target the closest target, only those next to the closest target will be affected by the power, those further back will not be affected even though they are still within range; the effect just stops right at your target. This is why many people usually target the furthest target with their cone powers in order to effect everything in between the blast.

However, the cone power on Kheldian's Nova form is different. No matter who you target, the power will actually go for its full length and width. This means that even if I target the foremost mob, I will still hit all the mobs behind that one...at least until the power goes out of range.

What I'm wondering is, why aren't all other cone powers act this way? Does it have anything to do with the "physics" of the powers itself or is it because the Dev's wanted players to learn how to use them correctly as oppose to just target whatever and click a button?

Edit: Just checked and you guys are completely right! I guess I'm going crazy :[

Make sure you're not under some sort of external debuffs...

Also, make sure you don't have the fortune "buff" The Fool. It gives you +recharge and some other nice stuff but it has a tohit debuff to it as well.

Edit: Open up Combat Attributes, under your Powers tab, click on Base and look at your ToHit values. If it's white, then you're not under anything, no buffs no debuffs. If it's red, that means that something is debuffing your tohit.

  21. I look at Targeting Drone as just a bonus. If anything, slot for 1 accuracy instead of 2 like most other sets would have to.
  22. Was on a team yesterday and this conversation popped up. Half of us agree that Bosses should be targeted and taken out first while the other half believes that Bosses should be taken out last.

Personally, both arguments make sense. However, I'm leaning toward the "take out Bosses first" side. Of course, this is with exception to groups such as the Malta's and Tsoo's, where Sappers and Sorcerers should probably be targeted and taken down before anything else.

The team I was on were doing radio missions. We're mainly selecting Freakshow's, Trolls, Hellions and Warriors, just to make it easy. We started our first mission and some of us noticed that half of the team was pretty much ignoring Bosses and it was a pain because we had a Scrapper and a Blaster on the team who DID target Bosses first. Sure, we had a Tanker that used his Taunt, but with the damage output that these 2 Scrapper and Blaster were putting out, they easily aggroed the Bosses that they were attacking.

We also had support toons that were using their mezzes and debuffs on everything else but Bosses. Eventually, the question came up: "shouldn't we be targeting Bosses first?" The answer: "no, we take out everything else first so that it's easier to focus on Bosses last." Personally, this was a pretty bad reason in my opinion. In fact, that reason doesn't even make sense to me.

Why focus on Minions and LT's while the Bosses are running around freely two-shotting squishies? Bosses hit for tons and it's much easier to keep someone that's being pounded on by Minions and LT's alive than it is to keep someone alive from the huge burst damage that Bosses are capable of putting out.

What do you guys think? Is the aforementioned reason to take Bosses out last reasonable? Shouldn't Bosses be the focus when fighting "normal" mobs such as these?
  23. Definitely Rad/Fire Blaster. You get 9 AoE's, including the 2 damage auras. It's been a fun ride for me, so much so that I made a thread on this very subject in the Blasters' forums.

Only thing is, you'll grab a ton of aggro so make sure you can find a good Tanker to team with as well as support toons like Defenders and Controllers.
  24. Definitely go with Corruptor. Why bother with a Defender? They're obsolete :P
  25. Got to level 35 with my WM Brute and it's been a great ride, and still is.

If anything, I'd say WM is a good mix between single target DPS and AoE. The later cones that I just got were amazing! It has a wide enough arc that it's pretty easy to hit pretty much everything close to you.
