Quote:Sounds nice (I know I'd find it convenient), but I'm sure it's way more complicated in execution. First off, it's a third party program. The devs may appreciate its purpose and popularity, but I doubt they'd want to start handing out game code to third party developers so they can export to the game. The potential for haxxors would be too much to want to deal with.If only you could export your Mids build into the game. Why reinvent the wheel? Mids already does the respec and let's you tweak your own build, look at another build, move something round, put it back again. Often whilst you're out of the game. It tells you what you can and can't do and also shows you all the set bonuses and where you messed up and ended up with too many of a given bonus.
Then there's the fact that you'd have to have every single enhancement described at the precise level of all the enhancements you have. Otherwise, it wouldn't know what to do when it came across a level 50 Steadfast 3% Defense when in Mids you specified it was level 32.
No, an in-game free-form respec would be much more manageable. Being able to do a respec like you can in mids would be ideal. But not an export. -

Try proof reading your post to make sure others can read what your trying to say.Well same back to you babe .. is the simple reply .
So no hard feelings the net is the net ..
So who cares i wouldn´t even lose sleep over it .
******** or not , its a request for suggestions .
You have your opnion , and i have a request and even more if its payable and profitable.
You dont have to pay i will pay for the booster class .
Guess tons will too and balance issue isn´t hard to solve .
Also, mid-range or long-range, it doesn't matter. Melee means hand-to-hand. This means pistols are out. Not to mention, it would be over-powered. If everyone states the reasons why it would be over-powered and you're the only one defending it with weak arguments, you may want to stop and think about it. -
Quote:The damage can't be that bad if people solo AV's with that combo. It may not be very much for AoE, but the damage is still pretty high. Are you taking into account that DM has the best "build up" power? Slot Soul Drain up for recharge and see if that helps. A fully saturated SD and AAO will certainly turn you into a damage demon. As most of the long-time players of tanks know, Dark Melee's attacks are sort of meh in damage numbers.
[EDIT] Just noticed the 12-30 level range. DM can be late blooming for Tanks, so just give it some time to mature. Also, Assault wouldn't be worth it. -
As promised.

Quote:I don't have Mids at work, so I'll have to post them once I get home.I'd love to see the 50 build and pre-20 build to help me gather ideas. Thanks!
Wait, I do have the pre-20 build posted on this thread.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=200540
Keep in mind, I use Ninja Run and temp travel powers for the pre-20 build so that I could preempt the travel and fitness pools in favor of more shields and attacks. -
First off, congrats on the decision to make an elec/stone. I recently hit 50 on mine, and he was a blast to play the whole time.
Quote:I might switch out Stone Mallet for Heavy, but it's all preference.1. Is it a mistake to skip Heavy Mallet? In the build I have Stone Fists, Stone Mallet and Sesmic Smash for ST damage.
Quote:2. What's the concensus on Tremor? The numbers looks similar to footstomp but the 3.3s animation seems a bit long. Should I ditch this since I already have an AoE type power; fault?
Quote:3. I chose the Energy Mastery Pool for Physical Perfection to stack mroe regen to Energize. Is it noticeable or should I grab a different pool or powers?
Quote:4. Lastly, what direction do players take with IOing their ELA Tanks; more HP/regen, more Recharge, etc?
I also have a "Pre-20" build that I use for TFs. Elec/ can be made quite sturdy in the early levels, especially when it's a respec build that 6 slots all the powers, and has plenty of +recovery bonuses to make up for no Stamina.
It's a great combo, so have fun with it! -
Quote:I'm going to strongly disagree here. The OP did leave out his KB protection and severely under-slotted Energy Sink. Then he made a big effort towards Recovery and +End bonuses that wouldn't be needed with a properly slotted ES.I have been thinking about making an elec/elec but don't think I have time for it, but you're build is good. ...
No offense to the OP, but I would listen to the suggestions in this thread. It will be Influence and time better spent if you did. -
-
I've noticed there's a bit of focus on end maxing and recovery. I'm not sure it's really what you need to worry about on an Elec/Elec build. So long as you have decent end reduction in your powers, Energy Sink will keep you going and going.
What is it you want to be able to do with your tank? Are you looking for better survival? More recharge? If you're looking to improve your survival, there are two things I'd suggest. +HP and defense. HP bonuses are easy to come by, and if you use HP accolades, can give you a lot of durability. Add in some defense on top of that (30% to S/L would be ideal), and you'll be very formidable. -
Are you waiting for an invite, or are you actively seeking one? More often than not, I find just stating your level and AT in broadcast is of little use. And when it does work, it's usually the classic PUG horror group.
I use the search tool and look for people already on a team. Then I use this handy little bind:
/bind (insert button) begin chat /t $target, Excuse me, but could your team make use of a $level (primary/secondary) tank?
So all I do is click on a person's name, hit the bind, and hit enter. You can add more to the bind, like maybe a description of your play style so they know you're not just gonna sit around. I find more often than not that this will find me a team when my SG isn't on. Some people may get annoyed by this, but you probably wouldn't want to be on their team anyway.
And of course, you can always for your own team. Don't be timid about it, most people are probably in the same situation as yourself. They're just waiting for someone to send the invite. Good luck! -

I whole-heartedly agree. The cost of super expensive recipes and IOs should be lowered. If 5 sets of purples and a PVP IO could be bought for... **checks his collected wealth** ...Oh, say, 800 million, this would be much more convenient for ME.
kthxbye -

Quote:I understand where you're coming from, but keep in mind, we're talking about an OPTION. If you don't have enough influence to do a blanket upgrade, it's not like you can't still use the store. If you want to change out single enhancements one at a time, you still have that capability. No one's suggesting taking away what you can do now, only adding an option. For instance, if I ended up with a bunch of DOs and a bunch of SOs because I only used what dropped, I don't want my DOs upgraded, I want them replaced. And if there are enough of them, this convenience gets to be about as much pain as doing it by hand, anyway.
I'd still be in favor of an "Upgrade All" scenario. Maybe instead it's an option of "Upgrade All SOs", then "DOs" and then "TOs." I'd certainly be in favor of a system that allows you to purchase straight into the enhancement screen. If it was similar to how you can choose the level of the enhancement (like the Merit Vendor), that would be even better. Let's say someone wants to lock their toon at 40, it would be nice if they could buy level 43 enhancements from the store. -
Seriously? You think the zones will be empty because the player majority will be crowded around in stores updating their SOs in a faster fashion?
-

Quote:Err... why respec it out? You do have a power coming in at level 26 that will allow you to regain endurance fairly often. So any end drain on you that the power has, won't really matter at all.Ahh great...I'll have to respect that out.
Thank you for the info
AND the damage over time from a well slotted Lightning Field is a tremendous help.
AND then there's the fact that after you use Power Sink, LF can help keep your foes drained, thus causing them to attack you less.
AND it's your aggro aura, which helps keep foes on you, and not on your teammates.
So why not keep it? -
Quote:Why not just suggest that TO/DO/SO enhancements don't expire when you outlevel them, like IOs? It saves a ton of effort, and honestly, the older system isn't that intuitive - knowing you want your enhancements to be green to be ideal to get the most out of them is in some ways more confusing than the entire IO system.
That makes a lot more sense than some auto-upgrade feature.
So what would be the advantage of crafting IOs over TO/DO/SO's?
I don't find IOs to be that confusing. Generic IOs are crafted. They stay the same enhancement value for the entire life of your character. End of story. -
Quote:As I mentioned, it wouldn't be a perfect system, but the time saved would justify the cost for me. I'd almost consider it a "courier's fee."Agreed, yet you'd still be wasting inf on the initial "Change All" button if you wanted to change them around.
Also, I think this should be a feature you can use at any time. So if you're 31, but you've gotten tired of your yellow enhancements, you could hit the upgrade button at the store vendor, and get all level 34 SOs. -
I think for a good part of the population, this is true. Granted, I haven't done any market research on this, but the amount of times I've ever heard anyone on a PUG say, "I don't have enough inf to upgrade" has been far and few between. Besides, it's not a punishment for those who don't have enough money to do so. That would be like saying Purple recipes on the market are a punishment for those who can't afford them.
Quote:2. The system knows what enhancements you want to put into your powers. If you've leveled and have more slots available since the last time you did your enhancements, how would it know what you want to put into the new, empty slots?
Quote:3. What happens if you want to change the type of enhancement? (ie. you want to change an end reduction DO to a damage DO).
My suggestions would be:
- Leave it to TO/DO/SO's for all the previously stated reasons. (Sorry OP, IOs was just a silly idea).
- This would require more coding work, I'm sure, but have an interface that lists the powers you have, and allow a player to upgrade per power OR to upgrade all. This would solve the issue of whether or not someone has enough inf. If they don't, they can choose which powers they'd like to upgrade. It's not perfect, but it's more control over what happens.
I think it's a QoL that would be very beneficial in the early game. Especially when running to the store can be much more of a time consumer. -

Having played both sets to 50, I can say both are extremely fun and completely different. But if you're really trying to find what's right for you, here's the pros and cons of the sets I can think of:
ElA
Pros: Strong resists numbers (especially after Tough), and has great endurance management as well as endurance drain on foes.
Cons: Without Tough, it can feel very weak in most "normal" situations.
Suggested IOs for godmode: +HP bonuses (500HP or more), and S/L defense (30% will be plenty). Recharge is always nice if you can work it in.
Shield
Pros: Decent positional defense (great after Weave), high damage bonus and decent HP bonus on perma.
Cons: No heal, and no endurance recovery.
Suggested IOs for godmode: Cap your defense (not too hard to do), recovery, and HP bonuses. Same for recharge. -
