  1. Everything goes well with Traps. There's synergies with it and every available blast set. Just pick one that looks neat and run with it.

    New GR video! :D

And how much of that did you see? I had to watch the movie something like three times just to spot what's in the background, and in the end... It's just more white buildings. I guess I might be excited about them once I'm in-game looking at them for myself, but seeing split-second glimpses of them is hardly news. Especially considering this whole place looks like the mock-up of Praetoria they've been showing around since very much the first day, that place with the tall tower and plaza in front of it.

    ---

Really, I get that it's "something new," but are we really THAT desperate for more Going Rogue stuff that we'll jump at what is literally and figuratively NOTHING? Maybe I'm biassed, considering the zillions of "Where's mah GR info!?!" threads a few months back did little more than irritate me. Maybe I'm immune to hype. I don't know. But if this were another trailer, a developer walkthrough, a movie that breaks at least a minute's worth of footage, maybe I'd be excited. But a 6-second spin around two characters that have no business standing back-to-back? Ugh...

This is the equivalent of that Half-Life 2 pre-alpha that got leaked, like, a year before the game's release, only it's even LESS.

Just like a person can speak for hours and hours and end up saying absolutely nothing (I should know), so this "video" is nothing. There's picture on it and there's a timer ticking, but there's nothing to see. Just in the same way as a person saying nothing is technically speaking words, he's still saying absolutely nothing.

You could have posted six seconds or random pixels or six seconds of RickRoll and it would have been the same effect. You could have posted six seconds of the Invisible Man in outer spate and it would have been about the same.

Seriously. I don't mean to crap on people's parade, because more Going Rogue information is always cool. But I'd literally have appreciated a single high-res still screenshot of the two more than that "video."

    Well helloooo, Maelstrom.

Praetoria's lookin' nice. Like the Emperor Cole statue they've got in the back.

If they were to ever make Galaxy into a shopping district like zone an Icon would be a must though just to fit the concept.
And even before they opened the RWZ up to all, the hike to the IP Icon was always much safer and easier than the Steel Canyon branch.

A quick run through Kings Row and past maybe three spawns in IP and you're there.

And I doubt a 5 minute delay in potential PL-ability would do anything.

This seems like a solution in search of a problem. And it's not even much of a solution.

    Makes sense.

Remember, everything in Paragon is also built on top of ginormous sewer tunnels which are on top of ANOTHER set of ginormous sewers which are on top of a sunken city.

Not to mention all the caves.

Really, that anything over 2 floors is standing in Paragon is a monument to her civil engineers. Either that or they all hired Bloody Stupid Johnson.*

I'd much sooner see a city built out of architecture reminiscent of the Chrysler Building, the World Trade Centre or the Empire State Building than a whole city of Sears Towers.
Who's saying "all"? I think the popular sentiment here is "some" followed closely by "any."

Also, not all glass towers look alike. There are at least 5 in this picture. None of them look alike.

    Oh yes, this!

I've long wanted to see the cultural enclaves that should be seen in a city the size and age that Paragon is supposed to be.
  11. Building-wise, I think the one thing I'd really like to see is more unique structures.

Sure there's a badge marking where the Paragon Times used to be published in Faultline (maybe still is, haven't checked in a long time), but the building itself looks identical to every other one of that type. No signage, no satellite dishes that one would expect on a news media HQ, nothing to distinguish it from all the other buildings.

Just give us a couple more buildings into the zone mix to break up the monotony.

Eh. The CoH2 info's been up and around so much it's left the "Scooped" section and dove right into the "We know" setting.
  13. First I've heard of Cryptic having anything to do with CoH2.

    I can either:
    1) Chalk it up to bad reporting and believe every other source on CoH2 thus far

    or

    2) Believe Cryptic's in some sort of Machiavellian plot and going up against NCsoft for reasons unknown

Nah, only Magic (Apprentice Charm) and Technology (Taser Dart) do Energy. And no Origin power does Fire.

As in if it gets hit by... um, Ice Storm? Nothing. OSA ignores it.

Let me put it this way: OSA (or rather, Oil Slick Target, the targetable and killable pseudopet) has 10000% RES to EVERYTHING except Fire and Energy. You cannot hurt it at all with any damage other than Fire or Energy.

    EDIT: I was off by a 0. It's not 1,000% RES. It's 10,000% RES.

That's because the Mutant Origin power does Toxic damage.

OSA will only light from Fire or Energy damage. It's completely immune to everything else.

Seriously, Sam's propensity for wordiness is rather endearing. And he posted those paragraphs because people asked for it.
  20. Oil Slick is just the biggest diva ever. It's incredibly finicky. Look at it wrong and it'll be all "Oh no you di'nt!" and refuse to light.

And then it'll just play mind games with you; lighting once, then not for the next 5 or whatever.

    Tch. Oil Slicks.
  21. TOs normally do not drop past 25, yes. Same goes for DOs past... I think it's 35?

Anyway, sometimes contacts will give TOs instead of what they should be giving out. I know Montague Castenella loves to hand out a TO when you finish the Hero Midnighter arc, the cheapskate.

And now that I've read through it, I can kinda see where you're coming from. The numbers (and the detectives, and a bunch of the other in-jokes) don't really bother me mostly because I just don't care. But you do, so hey. I'm sure there are things I care about but you don't.
