My WP/SS tanker has no problems with Boobcat, and that's after dealing with Neuron first. It's Neuron's endurance drains that might trip me.

I tweaked my stone/elec build. Anyone have feedback?

Quote:The strangest thing is that the new NCsoft launcher detects when it has last changed. You can see this in the bottom left corner of the launcher. It would be easy to have the launcher direct the game to display the agreement only if it has changed... like other MMOs do.Personally, I don't find it that severe - but it IS nonetheless a bother. The fact that other MMO's only require re-accepting EULA/TOS when it changes or after game updates is an indication that this IS a step that is ultimately unnecessary to bother us with in the way that they have.

Wow. Some very nice builds in this thread. Thanks to all who shared their ideas.
-
Okay. Room for improvement, but I tossed this together. Stone/Elec going for run speed while being defense capped.

While taunting a Yellow Mito during Hami, I hit my secondary mutation and got monkified. It was recharged. I couldn't resist!

Too many alts to create MIDS builds for. I'll do it later and, for now, focus on my main.

Quote:That's great! I only wish it would work for everyone. Maybe it's a Steam issue?I've also forwarded this concern along to the development team for consideration as a "Quality of Life" improvement.
What setup are you using, damienray? Windows 7? 32-bit? Steam or regular install? -
Quote:I don't know. I'm out of ideas. I can't reproduce the problem.Ruff...
Man I thought ya had something there. Tried all that on the Cursors folder and just for sh**s and giggles tried it on the whole COx folder to make sure I had full permissions for the whole game. Nada... same error, BUT the game starts now - but all the cursors are just black boxes.. no image. How's that for weird ? -
Quote:Sounds like a permissions problem with your Windows user account and that folder, like the game doesn't have access to the files you are extracting.Still getting the following : Bad rawInfo size of 128 bytes for cursor texture or icon 'cursor_select' of 16x16 size.
Used WinRAR to extract. Any ideas ?
You can try adding yourself to the Cursors permissions folder.
- Go to the GUI folder you created (ie: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\)
- Right-click the "Cursors" folder and select Properties.
- Select the Security tab and then Edit, then Add.
- Type in your Windows username (ie: Robert) and click "Check Names". If you typed it correctly, your name will be underlined. If not, verify the spelling.
- If all is good, Click OK
- Under "Group or User Names:", select your freshly added username (ie: Robert) and look below "Permissions for Robert".
- Place a check in "Full Control". Everything else below that column will receive a checkbox automatically.
- Click OK until you are out of everything.

Quote:The legacy team needs darker green inside the player "pillboxes" with a bright green outline, as it is on the Live servers. In that screenshot, the green border, green background and green player text are all the same brightness, making them very hard to read. The 'new legacy' team window is much better than the monstrousity that's been on test for a while. But it is more legacy-ish, than anything else. The new one is still fugly.
And when I select a teammate, I miss not having a frame around the selected character. . .
"Legacy" on left, new one on right. They both true scale on command. Which is nice.
In the new team UI, the bizarre Quit button needs the text back. There is no reason to have a gigantic button with a tiny, cryptic icon in it, when the word "Quit" will fit in the same space.
What happened to the original GUI developer? -
I have an update on cursor customization, with some new cursors.
Preview:
Download:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/120706/cox_cursors2.zip
Installation:
Extract the zip to your CoX folder with the suggested path. If the folders do not exist, you must create them. Fear not! This will not alter your actual CoX installation (like Vidiot Maps). Exit the game, relaunch. The files should be about 5.5 KB. Personally, I use Winrar.
32-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\Cursors\
64-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\data\texture_library\GUI\Cursors\
The zip contains:
cursor_hand_open.texture
cursor_hand_closed.texture
cursor_point.texture
cursor_select_enemy.texture
cursor_friendly.texture
cursor_select.texture
cursor_win_diagresize_backward.texture
cursor_win_diagresize_foreward.texture
cursor_win_horizresize.texture
cursor_win_vertresize.texture -
I really do not like the icons and text overlapping the health and endurance bars. That's a terrible, terrible design.
Edit: And the health/end colours are too dark. And now that I look at it again, the buttons above and below the League (I think?) window are cryptic. I cannot tell at a glance what they even do. They NEED text labels. -
-
Quote:The texture files should be a little over 5 KB each, not 128 bytes (maybe you pasted shortcuts instead?). That error occurs if the texture is not 32x32 pixels (they are).I must've done something wrong installing the new cursors, on my laptop (running Win7) I get the following error message:
"Bad rawInfo size of 128 bytes for cursor texture or icon 'cursor_select' of 16x16 size"
All my cursors are a black square when I get this.
Try unzipping to your Documents folder, then copy-pasting them to the correct CoX location. -
Quote:No, but I'm expected to, and that's the problem with it. When you design a user interface with a specific intent and people do the opposite, you have failed in your design. But can you honestly say you read the ToS everytime? I doubt anyone does. So, people should be glad that it's not enforced a little more strictly.
The point of this thread is to bring attention to it while the new launcher is still in the developers' sights, instead of six months down the road when they have long since moved on.
We have no way of knowing whether a better solution is feasible, but that's not our job. We provide feedback and the developers decide if it's doable. -
Quote:No. Already covered in this thread.Afaik, pretty much every other MMO out there has something similar in it.
Quote:It's one click.
You fail to point out whats so utterly terrible about this current setup when, previously, that one click was still presentQuote:1. TERMS OF AGREEMENT
b) You agree to check this Agreement and the Rules of Conduct periodically so you will be familiar with their content as amended or modified from time to time. -
Quote:What reason do you have to want the terms presented when they have not changed since the last time?Oh, yeah, right. Sorry. Of course, some people must find it so excrutiatingly painful to move their mouse a few inches to click on one button.
Do you need your contract presented to you each day you go to into work, even though you signed it when you were hired and it has not changed since?
Does Paypal need to present you with its terms and conditions every single time you wish to make a transfer?
Maybe if you provided a rational explanation, it would sway people to your point of view where ridicule and sarcasm do not.
