Quote:Isn't it ironic that an attack that's supposed to give you immobilize protection, roots you in the process. lolGee, didn't I cover that? Why, yes, yes I did. Immobilize protection that lasts a short time, roots you while it fires off, comes later than every other tank's immob protection... not really a plus. Combat Jumping > Burn for Immob protection.
But in all seriousness, my problem with FA is, why pick it over Shields? FA is supposed to kill the enemies before they kill you, but if Burn, "the set's supposed big-hitter" scatters them, than how does that make any sense. Another thing is, on big teams, everything is dead so fast, that burn is practically useless; by time u get all the baddies situated, and ready to fire off burn, the only thing left standing is a boss --> and in comes the scrapper and the blaster to finish him off before you realize it.
IMO, Shields is what FA wishes it could be.
Just like Granite is the undeniable king of survival, Fire is supposed to be the undeniable king of damage, and right now, too many other sets contest with it, and it really is a shame. -

I do love replays and know EXACTLY how you feel in regards to the NFS speed replays, and I do love this idea, but (and there's always a but). With the rate of which things die so fast in this game, there would rarely be anything to watch. Just a giant flash of light then wham..."everything's dead already?"
Of course, solo players and smaller teams contradict this.
Like i said, i like the idea, that's just my one concern. However, a nice addition I'd like to see to your idea is the ability to view your teammates playthroughs. Meaning, if everyone splits up to look for the glowie and all of a sudden someone's health just dips all of a sudden, it'd be nice to see how it happened from their perspective. -
NOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!!!!
One of the biggest reasons I liked CoX is because they dont make me fight wolves and killer crocodiles in my lowbie lvls. I mean c'mon, fighting a rabbid dog?? That's like a slap in the face really.
(Wow! I can manipulate lightning, fire and the cosmos itself. Rabbid Dogs BEWARE!!)
I like your other suggestion though. -
Quote:This^^Whatever resist/defenses you've managed to scramble together with this build will not make up for your poorly slotted attacks. The build may be more sturdy than your other build, but the sacrifices you've made on the offensive end means you'll spend more time finishing off foes. I would imagine that this build nets you a reduction in overall effectiveness.
The rage nowadays is all about softcapped defenses and you can build a blaster with softcapped defense to either smashing/lethal or ranged type damage without sacrificing as much offense as you did with this build. There are quite a few threads on this, you should be able to find some ideas that suit your goal of building a more survivable blaster. -
Quote:Ahh ok, never noticed that about the KC's. Ugh, my pockets are about to scream out in pain. There's no substitute for Kinetic Combat. It grants the same HP bonus as Mako's, along with 3.75% vs. SM/L - all for only 4 slots of a power.
What I would do is look at the Mako's as a temporary situation and slowly work toward acquiring the Kinetic Combats.
The build Exxar posted for you is a very nice one. Even if you don't want that build for your self, those are the sets you want to focus on in making your own build. -
-
Thanks for the feedback Exx. And yes I know, those Kinetic combats are a pain, almost as much as slotting the full set of Obliteration.
However, seeing as how that is the case, I went with the Mako's - their full set really compliments WP in regards that it gives you a nice Health increase.
One more thing, is this your build EX or did you work it out in Mid's? If it is yours, how does it run? -
Hey all, I currently have a EM/WP brute sitting at roughly 26% defense to melee attacks, and 25% to s/l. Is this a good setup for a WP? As it stands, I can run a mission full of freaks on a +2/8 difficulty with no issue, but still I cant decide if it was the best decision in regards to getting the most out of /WP.
Has anyone had any other experiences with WP and more specifically, EM/WP in particular? Im interested in seeing others take on the set but there arent any WP guides for brutes (none that I can find anyways). As always, any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thankyou... -
On my IO'd (no purps) EM/WP brute, I tend to run +2/8 with bosses; same goes for my Elec/SD brute. I found myself a nice map full of freaks that I tear throogh on slow days. Ahh Good times...

So are you saying that I can now rockout? /signed!!
P.S. Shun the negative feedback of gliding on a guitar, if possible for the devs to do it, than by all means, do it! Like you said, it'd be apart of a booster pack, meaning it'd cost money.
*Begins to shake head very violently* -
I really like the idea. Honestly though, Im not too crazy about the added fire, cold, dark, etc etc, damage.
If it were solely for cosmetics, I believe there's a definate chance we'd get it, and in near future as well, but as for what you're asking...well, I have seen miracles happen.
*Looks at Power Customization* -
Scythes for a tanker would be like dual pistols for blasters in terms of
"Where have you been all my life!?"
On a more serious note, just because something is difficult to code doesn't mean it should be given up on (i.e. Power Customization). Anything worth having is always going to take time to figure out, sure it may take longer to figure out than others, but that's what seperates it from others.
I'm sure we all want Scythes in the game, and as many have said, it's hard to figure, but dammit it'll be worth it. -
Quote:This.../signed a thousand times overI should start saving this list:
Things they need to do with/for Vanguard Merits:
1) Up the drop rate. Not everyone ship raids.
2) Give merit bonuses for the RWZ story arcs.
3) Give a merit bonus to the Lady Grey TF.
4) Severely reduce the price of the Vanguard costume parts. (IT COSTS 200 FOR PANTS PEOPLE, 100 FOR A GUN)
5) Allow characters of any level to earn merits.
6) Find some way to allow players to use unlockable costume parts at creation. Account-wide unlocks, redeemable tokens (sort of like Vet rewards), or make the unlocks recipe-based. -
Quote:Are we talking about Superman?Flip side:
I dunno about you, but I'd sure as hell be scared of someone who had been gun down, beaten to a pulp, run over, flung off buildings, etc, and never.. frelling.. died!
In response to losing influence over gaining debt antagonists, I suggested it because you have to lose something. I mean what else do players care about to the extent of making death a penalty; influence/infamy seemed to be the way to go. -
The best way I can see in replacing debt is just losing influence. Thematically, it fits the whole hero/villain theme anyway; whose gonna look up to a hero that gets his butt kicked all the time, and whose gonna fear a villain that does the same.
Losing influence would definately make players think twice, how much Im not gonna even bargain on. And if you dont like the idea of losing influence, than my job is done. =P -
Ehh, some of your examples fall more on the annoying side than the interesting side; but I like where this thread is going. How about enemies with "Honor" attitudes - meaning, they attack strongest person on the team 1st, and if everyone is the same lvl, they go after the tanks etc....Could see warriors having this code. Even enemies with the exact opposite of the above mentioned code would different, gives a new meaning to "protect the squishies."
There could even be foes that like to flank you.
That's all I have off the top of my head. But yeah more enemy variety is always nice. -
Quote:i didn't misread what you said quinch, just trying to point out that if people wanted to use merits to try to io toons that they could do so through ouro. it also fits into your idea of non repeatable content.
As i pointed out in the OP Quint, Ouroboros missions would not give merits. -
Yes I know that, but considering the way CoXs economy has been going lately and the direction if seems to be heading, something needs to be done. Often times, past decisions must be reviewed.
-
Quote:Yes but merits cannot be traded among other players and players cannot set prices based on merits. The only place merits can be redeemed at is at their vendors and players have no control over that in any way. The devs have already set the rewards for merits which means their values are static. And last time I checked, the vendors never have insufficient supplies. =]
Keep in mind that all currencies also follow the laws of supply and demand. If you increase the quantity of merits (by making them easier to get) you decrease the value per merit. That's called inflation and it can be seen in the market for "common" salvage.
Robin -
The idea of this is to give players an easier alternative to buy recipes, without having to deal with the over-inflation in the markets. As of now, merits are only given by Monsters, completing arcs and TFs/trials, but why not regular missions. If they were to be given in regular (non-ae, non-ouroboros) missions, than the desire for teaming may rise up once again. The point is, running contact arcs does give you merits, but not the players that helped you, it's ultimately not fair, and while you can solo most arcs, where's the fun in that? This way, anyone that was on the mission long enough to recieve the end xp/influ bonus, will also recieve a couple merits.
To keep things from getting to out of hand, as in, people farming "rescue" or "steal/retrieve" missions that can easily be stealthed through, a scaling system would be implemented; meaning the more demanding the mission is, the more merits you recieve, i.e. "Defeat Alls" would give more merits than "Retrieve X." What would also be nice is, the more baddies you defeat in your mission, the more merits you'll recieve until you reach the mission merits cap (MMC) which would be approximately 10.
The idea of this post is the increase the flow of merits in CoX, because looking at WWs and the BM, it's just ridiculous, seriously, 500mil for ONE good(emphasize on one) recipe? I understand that good IOs are supposed to be expensive, but that is far out've reach for most casual gamers, and unless you AE alot or get really lucky with a drop, you're going to be saving up for a very long time.
Ultimately, this idea does not hurt AE farmers, it instead gives them a better alternative, as well as everyone else. One may say, well, what happens when I run out of missions to do since paper missions dont give any merits? Simple, go join/form a mission team and run another's arc; because in the end, that's the goal of this idea.

The idea of this post is to give level 50s the satisfaction of leveling up without actually leveling up. How it works is that once you achieve level 50, an adrenaline surge feature is unlocked on your hero/villain; meaning, as you defeat x amount of enemies, an adrenaline bar fills, and when it does, your level 50 once again experiences the sparkling "ding " animation and instead of recieving the level up and the 5 tier 3 inspirations, they just recieve the inspirations.
Also, the adrenaline bar should be non visible in order to give it the actual "adrenaline surge" feel - with that in mind, you wont know when it'll happen, it just will. If you're like me, than you miss the feeling of "dinging," becoming instantly stronger, and overcoming odds you previously had difficult with. I think this feature will be a nice addition, simply because when it does happen, how can you not smile? -
Whether I was playing my controller, blaster, or scrapper, herding is always fun. The only times I encourage it is on outdoor maps; herding indoors in just silly. I agree with Kruunch 100%, take off the aggro cap, keep the target cap. Imo, just because a tank can herd em all together, doesnt mean they'd be able to survive it; let the bad tanks who try, faceplant, get their egos destroyed, then maybe they'll decide not to do it again. -
Was hoping that they'd put a superman oriented emote in there. Where a phonebooth surounds your hero and then they step out with their new digs.
