Happened to me as well.
Needless to say my response was well..."WTF!?" -
Was brainstorming a bit more and while in the Danger Room, testing your build, you can apply a specific buff to yourself. Any buff in the game: Adrenaline Boost, Speed Boost, Fortitude, RAs, etc...
It'd be more of a "Hmm, I wonder how much more effective I'd be with this buff." -
<QR>
Off the topic of power customization and what not and back to the OP. Even though BaB said it'd be inappropiate to implement the idea of this post I'm still gonna add to it just for fun.
When i die, i want a chalk line where I fell. That is all -
My pick would be Resilience. IIRC, Phase Shift has a pretty bad activation time and seeing as how you're regen, that extra second might just be enough to take you down. However, regening your hitpoints very quickly while phased would be very useful.
Besides, your a Scrapper dagnabbit! We dont need Phase! We die with honor! -

Okay, that distraction out of the way...
I really like this idea, but I suspect it couldn't be implemented with the current game engine.
Unless I'm forgetting something, there is no effect, buff, or temp power in the game that adds a completely new damage type (cold, fire, toxic, etc) to an attack that previously didn't have that damage type. In that case they couldn't just tweak an existing mechanic, they would have to create an entirely new one. That is also assuming that said new mechanic would even work in the current game engine.

Dont IOs do this exact thing tho? Slot a "Chance for Energy Damage" into an attack and wham, you deal energy damage. I beleive his toggles would just take away the chance and have it auto. IIRC that is.
This is a cool idea however, and I swear on my hero's grave that I was thinking of something similar to this idea. Darn you for beating me to the punch! *Shakes Fist* -

This is about a crazy challenge with giant mobs and NO exp. You know for those of us that 3-4 guys are nothing.(I'm looking at you Brutes and scrappers)
The OP said right in the main suggestion that it would be fine with no exp. This is challenge purposes not not farm purposes.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is EXACTLY what is meant by my suggestion. In other words, introduce a "Challenge Mode" to CoX. No xp, no drops and no prestige. Only thing I can see be given with this is a badge. Something along the lines of...
Badge Title: [u]Practice Makes Perfect[u]
You've spent a total of X hours in the danger, assuring yourself that when a threat arises, you'll be ready! -
Yeah, I understand that AE gives us a testing feature, but unless you find a couple people to "fill" for you, than the mobs will still be 2-3 in size. The main goal of the danger room would be to give us large mobs that we can tackle ourselves without having to form teams.
Think of a scrapper tackling a mobs in Crey's Folly. Those mobs are huge, but they're a good test to see how much the player can endure without the aid of others. -
Being able to fill up a room with several large mobs is what Im suggesting. It would be similar to AE, instead, you can adjust the mob size to your liking.
Why a danger room? Well, I often find myself respec'ing into a new build and/or upgrading myself with a few neat IO sets. Afterwards, Im always itching to test my new self out. Only problem is, I just want to test my build, I dont want to have to go through the hassle of building a large team and feeling the responsiblity of having to run more than one mission. And even then, everyone is contributing to the fight in the missions so I never really get a fill for how much stronger I've become.
Another reason is for practice reasons. Maybe Im a bit rusty after taking a few months off from the game and want to brush up on my gameplay skills. One final reason is simply due to the fun factor. I find myself enjoying the game most when Im in the middle of a large mob with my tank or scrapper just making sure all the baddies fall before I do.
Of course the danger room would be intended for testing/practice purposes only so xp wouldn't be given whilst using. Was thinking that SG bases could be given their own personal danger room as well, as well as some built around Paragon City.
So what do you all think? Could you see yourself using the Danger Room? -
Where can a lv39 Brute go to find big spawns. I'm trying my hardest to stay away from MA farms, solo missions completely bore me and good teams are hard to come by sometimes, so Im left with hunting.
When i hit 37, I found a nice little spot on the end of St. Martial where lv40 freaks spawned and I grinded to lv39 from them. If you know any good spots, can you tell me what kind of mobs there are. Cause I'd hate to have to grind through carnies.
Thanks in advance
P.S.
I'm not familiar with Redside at all (blueside is my specialty). -
Recently started playing redside after playing blueside for so long and am now level 38. As I was fighting Valkyrie in one of my missions I realized that she conned purple. IMO, the purple con in COX seems to be a very villianous color; it's very dark.
So I figured, when fighting a hero, why not con them as a light, bright blue to help fit the hero blueside theme. In order to help reduce the confusion as to how much stronger the hero is compared to your villain, I guess only con their names in the light blue only if they would've originally been purple conned. Keep in mind, the con blue when the enemy is -1 level of you is a dark blue, so distinguishing the two would be fairly easy.
Like I said, small suggestion, but seeing the supposedly good guys conned in a darkish purple just doesn't seem right to me. -
For the life of me i just cant seem to figure this out.
I made a custom enemy for my arc and Im just now realizing that I dont need him anymore. But for some reason, I cant find a deletion button. I see a remove button, but no delete. I really need to clear space on my arc so he's obviously the first to go.
Any Help? -
The information given here has been great. Spines/Willpower would definately be the better choice. I have a spines/regen and love him to death, but I often find some of spines long animation attacks really hurting me.
Spine Burst, Impale, and occasionally Ripper. As a spines scrap, you're gonna be in the thick of things pissing all the enemies off whith your quills. And as mentioned, getting caught in a spine burst animation while in the middle of a mob is a no go. With WP, ya gots nothin to worry about.
Have Fun -
I actually beat him with my spines/regen scrapper. I guess this toxic damage ate through his unstoppable and he couldnt keep up with my regen.
Tough and Instant Healing ftw! -

Also, I'd like to point out to anyone reading this that this reviewer's idea of having lowbie heroes in the sewers is EXACTLY why we all participate in these threads. That idea is friggin' brilliant, and I never thought of it!
Thanks so much for the review.
*runs off to think about how to get that to work...*

LoL, glad I could help.
If you need any help with dialogue for the lowbies, than pm me or holla at me at my global @Rowdy. For now, here's one off the top of my head...

Maybe tieing a weapon peice to origin is a bad idea, but I was just trying to make it realistic. Seems to be a clear consensus that everyone believes it to be a bad idea, and to that i say "meh".
[/ QUOTE ] The reason I don't like it is because all of my characters have already picked their origin. It would have to come with an optional origin respec, if such a thing was even possible.
At this point in the game, I don't think anything new should be attached to origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I didnt think of it in regards to this dilema. Offering origin respecs would probably just be a pain seeing as how you'd have to redo all of your enhances, including the removal of your origin inherent power (not that anyone over lv14 really uses it anyway).
I guess just make the tools available to everyone, regardless of your origin. I was reading Dark Respite's story "The Course of Superhero Romance" (Great story btw, if you havent checked it out i suggest you do) and her main protagonist Dr. Tavarisch used technology to amplify her already mutant abilites. So yeah, magicians that use technological staffs to make their spells more potent cant hurt. -

My new arc:
New Flame Rising
ID - 161066
Alignment - Heroic
Length - 4 missions
Recommended character level - 30+
Difficulty - Designed as a TF. Tough but solo-able for good solo characters. Not for every character. Not too-hard for teams that play together often (like SG members), but may be harder for pick-up teams. Not much mez'ing at all, but mostly Fire damage mobs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really like your arc Nyte. I didnt see any grammer issues, which is GREAT (finally someone that spell checks!) the plot held together, and all in all, i had a great time. I didn't really have too much issue your EBs though, except arsonette, she was a bit of a pain, mainly because i dont like to use inspirations, but for her, I needed to pop a medium purple. The rest were pushovers really, Fire fiend would've gave me issues but because hes a fire shields, he didn't have an KB/KD protection so i pretty much had him on his butt the entire fight.
A few things i would've liked to see in your arc was more dialogue from the EBs. When I was fighting them, they really only said one line at the start of the fight and thats it. Would've been nice to see one of them something like "Time to turn up the heat" or something like that.
Another thing that would've been cool is if in your city hall mission where I had to run in the sewers and get the bombs, it would've been pretty funny to see the Inferno Force messing with beginning heroes. City Hall is in atlas park and lots of lowbies do lots of sewer runs down there. I was just praying that there were some lowbie heroes down there saying something like "Please dont hurt me, I'm just being a hero for the girls" or something like that - and when I saved them, they say something like "Omg, it's Lyte Fyre. Dude, you're the reason I decided to be a hero, could I get your autograph" lol.
Overall, I gave it 4 stars, mainly because of non-dialogued EB fights, and the city hall mission. Not because there weren't lowbies down there, but because finding 6 bombs on a large sewer map was a bit of a pain.
Btw, I ran your arc with my lv50 DB/WP scrapp. He's a beast!
Kudos Lyte!
Okay, my arc's name is....
Arc name: Going Rogue (I made this LONG before PS's annoucement.)
Arc Id: 161066.
- Just go to search and type in Rowdy2 and it'll appear.
*Note* Keep in mind that I made this arc with scrappers in mind. However, I did complete it with my lv50 NRG/elec blaster and lv43 Earth/rad troller. As mentioned, I had scrapperdom in mind, but it is soloable with other builds. Either that, or teams and what not.
Good Luck! -

The only reason I decided to tie the skins to origin is because because of one word - "theme." As dolphin mentioned, it is silly to see a technological hero/villain running around in lioncloth, just like it would be silly to see a magic origin hero/villain running around with a flamethrower.
Maybe tieing a weapon peice to origin is a bad idea, but I was just trying to make it realistic. Seems to be a clear consensus that everyone believes it to be a bad idea, and to that i say "meh".
Another thing I'd like to briefly point out is that while making new animations for each powerset may require alot of work, I believe (notice how i said "believe) it is possible. Why? Look at sheilds, they tweaked every melee set (except DB and another set i cant remember right now) to fit with a weapon in the hand, so why not a wand? The devs surely had to learn "something" from the sheild's set. You say that it falls under power customization, which we all know is a big no-no, yet, it's already been implemented into the game. My proposal is simply to take another step forward.
That is all. -
Yeah but it's only available as a boss rank
. I needed something of Elite Boss or Arch-Villain rank.
-
How is this power customization? Yes it's weapon customization but I dont see how power customization comes into play. There would just be two sets of animations for each set, one with a weapon, one without. Heck, most of them can even use the same animations.
Like I said, it'd require new animations and a few weapon skins. Other than that, nothing else. -
Lord Recluse releases a toxic chemical into Paragon City's air and causes a hero civil war. Squishies vs Non-squishies!
<ul type="square">Squishies: Blasters, Controllers, Defenders, and Nova form Kheldians.
Non-squishies: Tanks, Scrappers, and Dwarfed Kheldians.[/list]
I'd put my money on the squishies simply because the Controllers/Defenders would provide all buffs alongside debuffs, combine that with the highest damaging AT, the blaster, and the non-squishies would just be owned.
My question to you all is, who'd win? -
This idea of mine is pretty big and would require quite a bit of new animations, but if it were to be done, I believe it could make origins alot more meaningful.
The idea is to give origins their own respectable customizable weapon. For example, if someone were to choose the magic origin, and then choose ice manipulation, than when the player begins to create their hero, they can decide to equip a magic wand. So now when the player activates an attack, they instead use a different animation that waves the magic wand instead of doing the former animation of the attack.
Another example is if someone were to choose the technology origin and pick fire blast. When going to create their hero, they can now choose whether or not to equip specialized fiery gloves with a technological design.
I know people can make costumes and describe in their bios how their metallic suit conjures the fire and what not - but the point of my idea is to give non-weapon users the chance to use customizable weapons. Like I said, many new animations would need to added to the game, but like any other idea, it just requires work.
I got this idea from my /rad troller. I had just attacked an enemy with my black wand vet power, and afterwards, I decided to debuff my target with one of my powers. When I did, the wand didn't dissapear, it remained in my hand with my debuff animation and it looked as if my wand was responsible for my attack. It just looked so cool.
Thankyou for reading and like always any feedback is greatly appreciated. -

There might be more truly new melee sets at some point, but melee players have received a ton of attention in the last few issues (dual blades, willpower, and shield defense all were added, plus there was proliferation). So the ranged people could use some love. I suspect next will be a new control set after that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree 100%. After pistols and demons are released, I'm betting the next control set will be Electricity, i would LOVE to play that set. After that, Im guessing streetfighting/staffs would be next on their list.
Besides, dual pistols would give me a reason to roll another blaster. -
Okay, I was looking for a giant robot enemy to place in my arc. To my delight, I found the Longbow Catatrophic elite robot, great! I include the robot in my mission, go to test it, and to my displeasurement, every enemy in my arc is now lv54!!
I didn't mind the Longbow robot to be lv54 - in fact, i kind've wanted that, but everything else? C'mon! Needless to say, I threw it out of my mission. The only other giant robot i could find was the Vanguard's HVAS one, but it doesn't really have the "Giant" feel to it ya'kno?
I initially had the Kronos Titan in mind when designed the mission's story but it isn't avaliable. I also attempted to make a really tall/heavy custom robot, but it didn't feel right neither. I just want a Doomsday Weapon in my mish but we have no giant robots that wont completely screw the rest of my mobs up.
My question is, is there a way to make the Longbow Catastraphic not mess up my mission's mobs? Or, is there another giant robot i can get that im not aware of. If i could get the Kronos Titan than that'd be GREAT!! Overall, I just want a giant robot, is that too much to ask? -
As long as I dont need to buy gas to fuel the rockets, than ill /sign this 10x's over and over.
