Quote:I suppose you never enjoyed The Three Stooges either. Satanist.Eh. To me, people that acted like that were put in "special needs" classes, not called "comedians." I don't find acting like a hyped up four year old funny.
I find Eddie Izzard funny. I find most of Monty Python's sketches funny. I don't find "Booger booger fart butt!" level humor funny - didn't when I was a kid, either - and Jim Carrey seemed to not want to get past that. Every time I tried watching ILC, it seemed they, and he were at that level... so, yeah. For Jim Carrey, it's worse, since he's shown (again, Truman Show) he can do *SO* much better. He could be brilliant - but he wants to keep being the fool.
I am, of course, kidding. It just seems you're judging these things from a distance and I've never been a fan of such things. Did you watch The Number 23? Or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Or Bruce Almighty? Or Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events? Or The Majestic?
If anything, I beg to you to watch Man on the Moon. His portrayal of Andy Kaufman *IS* brilliant. -
Well, there goes my theory on who's the big bad behind the Sig Story Arc. Unless Praetorian Percy is trying to give the powers to Primal Percy, hoping that will give him the feeling of satisfaction that defeating the Midnighters didn't.

Quote:I did, actually. I was in the Infinity Server Event. However... I didn't bother to read the flavor text because:I take it you didn't participate in Divided we Fall? If the two met our Hamidon would be jumpstarted by the genetic material from theirs. They'd join forces (even if they are from different earths, they still believe in the same thing).
A) I don't read well on the fly. I often find myself re-reading good chunks of text to make sure I understood what it was saying. Unfortunately that means that the chat bubbles often fade away before I can get done reading... So I usually just let it go rather than go to the trouble of keeping track of where I left off and get the rest of it on the next go-round.
B) It was very quickly pushed out of chat view by tons of broadcasts (for the most part). This makes it even more difficult to scroll through the chat window and read the flavor text...
C) It was pretty difficult to keep track of anything that was going on... because I was rather busy trying to stay alive, support fellow players and kill critters. I rather dislike the Devs recent affinity for popping up text during potential combat situations. Any story the devs want to get across with that text... basically... 'falls on deaf ears' with people like me... because we often miss it completely. -
I get the feeling the final Trial will be a multiple signature AV face off, similar to Statesmans or Recluses TF, with Cole being the final boss (I have a hunch he won't be the final final boss... I'd love to see that Cole either is Hamidon in human form or made a deal with it in order to gain more power). Like the OP, I'd love to see this be a regular TF... but I doubt that will be the case.
Actually... I think it would be pretty cool to get help from both Recluse and Statesman to defeat Cole... which could be a way to help demonstrate Coles amplified levels of power. I'm thinking Recluse develops a device to help debuff Cole and Statesman joins you as a tag-along.
Actually... what I'd really like to see is a giant gateway being built to Primal Earth... and we find out it's for Hamidon... and we have a killer Hami VS Hami showdown! -
I loved this show! It was such an interesting concept.... I really wish they'd focused more on the utility required to survive rather than the drama... especially in season 2. Still... It breaks my heart that it got canceled.

Quote:Brace yourself for a lot of text. lol. They said very early on that the Incarnate system could get updated pretty much indefinitely with new power trees as well as new tiers in existing trees.
So a character can "grow in power" as an Incarnate not just by going up the ranks in a single ability, but also by crafting several abilities from different trees.
Think of having multiple level 50s on a single server. You can't actually log in more than one at a time, but the more of them you have, the more flexibility you have in what you can bring to a high level TF. And you don't feel like you're "wasted your time" or are "missing out" when a new powerset comes out, you just level a new character to 50, and increase your flexibility as a player even further.
This theory really only works if the powers are equal in their usefulness.
For example: I must have spent 20 hours of play trying to get my Crab Soldiers Tier 4 Cardiac Alpha. The main reason I went for it was because my Soldier benefits from the Resistance boost. It also gives an Endurance Redux boost, but I don't really feel like I need it that much. Now, what if they release an Alpha that focuses more on a Resistance boost than Cardiac and gives something else I could use more... like damage or accuracy?
From here, I have 2 options. I can stick with the tier I have and settle for only having some of my needs met... and feel like I'm missing out. Or I can switch, start the new tree from scratch, leave that Tier 4 Cardiac hanging useless in the air and feel like the time it took to create it meant nothing.
It's exactly what happened when the new Lore Pets came out (I was working on Seers, thinking their psi damage and semi-control would be beneficial [which it really wasn't]) and then they friggen give us 20 other pets to choose from. So now I have a Tier 3 Seer Lore that's out there doing *nothing*, because I found a pet tree that's better.
This game has constantly proven itself to be the casual players MMO. Where you can level up the fastest, contribute to any team in any way you want without having to have the best equipment and have fun while doing it. Hell, I consider myself only slightly more dedicated than a casual player... and I have about 8 or 9 level 50 characters and the rest of the character slots *full* with varying levels. But even then, I only have 3 characters with a decent amount of Incarnate abilities... and probably only 2 more who even have the bloody Alpha slot unlocked!
I'd hate to think that the Devs are purposefully making Incarnates a slow process because of some obligation to the 'end game' or because they're afraid they'll lose players for some reason. -
If we're going to continue to get more and more trees added to the Incarnate powers... can you at least make it so we can salvage (IE, break down into shards/threads/components) the incarnate powers we spent so many hours building? Or at the very least... offer a side-grade for them?
I'd like to think the Devs wouldn't want their players to feel like they're wasting their time... or that they're missing out because they already constructed their T4 Alpha before that better option became available. -

Instead of adding different layers of mitigation to help Regen Brutes out... how about we stick with the core concept and use it in different ways. Don't get me wrong, I love that we get some resists to help us out... but the set is all about healing yourself in order to survive. Why not give us a toggle that does a decent heal over time? We've seen the concept (HoT) in action with the Time Manipulation set.. wouldn't it make even more sense on a Regen? And the best part is: -Regen powers wouldn't effect it because it's not technically regen.
I suggest Resilience be changed to a toggle, and add a moderate Self-HoT to it. Of course, balancing it could be tricky. I'm not good with numbers, but I'm thinking if it healed... maybe... 150 HP (roughly 10%) every 5 seconds @ level 50 un-enhanced? Does that sound pretty fair? -
I've been watching Fringe. I'm digging the new season so far. Love finding the small details in this timeline that changed while Peter was gone.
Also, I really want to see more cross dimensional politics. I love the whole 'I don't trust you, you don't trust me but we gotta work together' aspect of it all. -
Quote:While kinda close... my suggestion is more about the fading clones than the blur. I don't even care if there is a blur to it... I just want to see the copies of yourself trail away. They don't even have to be animated. They could just be after images of the specific animation frame.Irony of ironies, Synapse has a "path aura" (which was done before path auras were made available to players) which I personally have requested be ported over to players as a replacement animation for Hasten. Tunnel Rat was even kind enough to respond!
Although, something just occurred to me: This would be difficult to pull off simply because of all the various ways players can run. That actually kicks it from 'plausible' to 'notgonnahappen' territory. -
I don't know if this has been suggested... but... I had an idea for a possible Path Aura.
I was thinking maybe something like Johnny Cages Shadow Kick from Mortal Kombat. Another example would be something they've shown in a Flash Comic. As you run you can see multiple copies of yourself trail behind you and fade away. -
I've been using Venom Grenade and Arctic Breath, followed immediately with Bile Spray (because it's toxic damage and less resisted). The I use Channel Gun and Longfang while those are recharging.
It's a very endurance-heavy chain, but I can usually kill things before it gets too bad. -
I'm calling it right here: Percy is the main baddie behind all this. He's using the obelisk(s) to steal a heroes power for himself, so that he'll never have to be rescued again.

I really want to see Real Steel. The concept itself is unique and rather interesting.
Drive? Really? I dunno... I got a very bad vibe just from the commercials. It screamed 'YOU MUST LIKE ME! I'M THE NEW TRANSPORTER!'. I would like to know how it is, though... if anything... to see if it broke through my expectations. -
Totally. I'm glad I'm not the only one who got the girl-crush vibe. As soon as Myka got stuck in the ropes too, my mind was chanting 'kiss her' over and over again. lol.

Strange... I could have sworn I tried it with a my VEAT and wasn't able to access APPs until I switched sides. Perhaps I remembered wrong... I do that sometimes. My apologies.

Quote:And yet... It's called CoH Freedom. And the first page on the site says "Play for free. Forever.".I think it should probably be stated though that this isn't really a 'free-2-play' model so much as a 'hybrid' model that is still more focused on getting people to pay a sub than relying on just microtransactions, at least that was how I understood it back when CoH Freedom talk first started.
Don't ya just love false advertising? They really should have put quotation marks around Play.
City of Heroes Freedom. "Play" for free. "Forever".
Or better yet... Play for free. Forever. -
All they would really need to do is alter the cloning tech slightly. Perhaps create a variable called 'activecostume' with numbers 1-10, and the number gets set whenever you change to a specific costume slot. That variable then gets applied to your Decoys whenever you summon them.
I mean, I know I don't work on the game, so I have no real frame of reference... but I really can't see this as being a super difficult task. Hell, you could even make it an option in the Power Customization screen... so people can use the new version, or keep the old if they want. -
My apologies... I sometimes have trouble explaining my line of thinking.
Right now, Heroes have to switch for PPPs and Villains have to switch for APPs. If you add Hero PPPs, that's another thing Villains will have to switch sides for... while Heroes won't need to. -
While I'm behind the idea of Heroes getting patrons... I don't think you quite understand the concept behind it. It's more about the specific mentor than the group they represent. There's no Arachnos Patron, there's a Ghost Widow/Black Scorpion/etc Patron.
So instead of Vanguard powers, they'd be closer related to Lady Grey's powers.
But that's just more of a nitpick than anything else.
Personally, I don't think we could do Patron powers for Heroes without non-Patron powers for Villains as well. Ya know, keep things even.
I also think we should have some Praetorian Patron Powers... but that may be going too far. -
BR/TA = Brita, a type of water filter. Don't worry, I didn't get it at first either. Then I re-read the topic title.
