There's no way you'll be able to softcap both Def and Res. Hell, I'm not even sure if you'll be able to softcap your Res. Go for defense and go for as much res as you can... then maybe equip the +res Alpha.
Also... TAKE SERUM. Seriously. Take it. With that much recharge, you're doing yourself a disservice.
Here's my build I'm working on. It's a concept I'm working on: Melee Crab. Feel free to tweek it as you see fit. Unfortunately, the recharge isn't nearly as good, but I believe the defense numbers and better resists are worth the sacrifice. Seriously, it might as well be a tank.

Just throwing my 2 cents in. If someone else has presented this argument, I apologize for the oversight.
I do not support the idea of a third build. Not because I don't think we need it. I actually think it's a good solution for the problem mentioned in the original post. However... and with all due respect... to expect an average player to have the resources to properly IO a third build on the same character is a bit silly.
For a while I considered myself a pretty hardcore player. I used to spend well over 5 hours a day playing this game. Granted, I really only have about a year and a half work of playtime under my belt. Anyway... I have never farmed and, quite frankly, I'm not entirely sure the Devs stance on item farming. I have multiple toons that are over 50 and multiple builds planned for each. The keyword is planned. I only have one build for each of my 50s, and even those aren't completed the way I would like them to be. As I said before, I'm a very dedicated player and have put in a lot of hours... but even I don't have what it takes to construct 3 complete IO builds for my characters. So... how can the average player even have a chance at accessing some of the tougher parts of the game? Especially with the Incarnate geared TFs being significantly more difficult?
The only way I could support a third build is if some of the standard IOs become more readily available to players. Either that or if there were some way to copy the IOs you already had... a certain number of times, anyway. Perhaps as a vet reward or something.
I can tell you this, though. Nobody outside of maybe Kheldians and Arachnos' will use all 3 builds for their characters. More than likely they will use 1 normal build and one for their Alpha. That's it. -
I'm not sure if that clarification was needed, but thanks none-the-less.

Great episode. I was really impressed with the special effects for Hawkmans wings this time around. It was significantly better than the last time I saw them.

Quote:I'd have to go with this as the most logical explanation. Playboy is on it's way out and they're desperate. In an age where free porn is readily available for anyone with the ability to type, costly nude-y magazines will suffer tremendously.Actually, that's probably more due to the fact that Playboy's clout and drawing power has fallen considerably since it's heyday, what with more popular and attention-getting photo shoot venues like Maxim, GQ and even the plain ol' internet. They haven't got the power to order anyone around, I'd wager, who isn't a complete unknown.

Side track: I just saw a commercial for Munns new show... and it actually looks better than I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, I'm as sick of her as the next person... but I think I'd actually watch that show. At the very least... just to give it a chance before I completely reject it out-right.

The deciding factor for me is how you play. If you solo a lot, take it. It's an excellent power while solo.
However...
If you team a lot, it significantly loses it's effectiveness. Mostly because it takes so much time to explode and you won't need that taunt as much. I've found that... even when I start off a mob with the bomb... most of the enemies are dead by the time it goes off. That irked me so much that I decided not to keep it. -
I was watching Push the other day and came to the scene where the two Movers were fighting hand to hand. I absolutely love how they use their abilities to make their punches have more impact. It looked like they formed a field around their fists, but it only showed when a hit landed. It's was like a supernatural street fight.

Very curious to see how Jason Momoa does in a roll outside of Stargate Atlantis.

Quote:They hand waved it (or tried to) in 2 ways. One thing thats been irking me though...wasn't Tess actually in love/lust with Lex when she came to the show? Or is that like a Star Wars kinda hand-wave?
One, they tried to turn her 'love' into a motherly love with baby-clone-lex.
Two, Alterna-Lionel pretty much said she only loves the power and not the man.
You can just see the writers going "Incest?! What incest?!". -

I always imagine Earthen Blast being something like that. Some powers would float up around the player and quickly fly towards the target. Others would be something similar to stone fists. Earth forms around the fore-arms, but instead of smashing at melee range... the player swings his arms forward, the rocks break off his arms and are flung at the target.
Heck, even the Hammers could be made distance attacks... just have the hammer form in their arms like always, but have the power animate like the player is throwing the hammer. lol. -
Quote:This.as for who would invent such a thing or why, that should be obvious. To see what's on the other side. Having determined the existence of a multiverse, there would be plenty of people who'd want to check the other realities out if only to find the one in which christina hendricks is their love slave.
On a side note: I don't like how easily accessible the device was. At the very least... they should have show the other device getting destroyed somehow... or our Clark destroying his and showing the other device(s[?]) esplod'n. -
Quote:I was thinking the same thing. Although... I supposed it's not unreasonable to assume the casket went with dead Lionell. After all, their cloths went with them. Still, that would leave live Lionell in a hole in the ground, 6-feet-under.Earth-3...not Earth-2 show!
How did Lionell get out of the grave? They switch places, not just worlds, so dead Lionell would be in the grave...
Or, it's possible the device has it's own set of rules for when the other person is dead and it just dropped live Lionell on top of his own grave, or the last location it was set too (watchtower, then). -
I love how he switched and found himself in the middle of a battle with Oliver and the others. That was a nice touch.
This episode, while interesting... kinda irked me. It's pretty much filler and shows they're setting Darkseid up for the typical quicky-battle ending. I seriously hope Clark learns to fly soon. Even his evil twin was flying. >< -
You'd be surprised how many people don't know how tough crabs can be when built properly. I created a tanker substitute, complete with pool power taunt. Definitely not as ubar as a tank, but about as close as one can get.

Quote:Fair enough. Although I think it's possible they were FTL'n them through and past the ships when some unexpected problem (due to the way they were docked to the other ship during FTL) caused both ships to drop out of FTL.No. The aliens were supposed to ba taking the Destiny to a relatively safe spot to finish repairs to their FTL. Instead they took them directly to the enemy fleet. This wasn't an "OOPS! We accidentally stumbled across a patrol" They dropped out of FTL right in front of the enemy flagship.
It feels like Chloe's "don't trust the aliens" shtick is a bit of a red herring to make us not trust the aliens... and pull the old 'hey, look, they're good again'. Although I'll be pleasantly surprised if that's not the case. I always enjoy shows with plots I don't see come'n. I'm look'n at you, NCIS: The show which gave me my personal record in pin-pointing who-dun-it (within 15 minutes of the shows start lol). -
Considering the lack of ability to communicate with each other... I'm thinking is was more of a 'Something went wrong with the FTL and we couldn't warn ya so go for the throat and hope that stops the drones' situation.

We better listen to Admiral Ackbar on this one. For I, too, think it's a tarp.

Ellie was working on part of the intersect, it seems. I'm thinking this means it will perform better. Maybe instead of having to 'flash' Kung-fu for every fight, he could retain that knowledge for an extended period of time? Or perhaps this means he could have more things he could 'flash' on? Like the ability to make his girly-girl 'flash' us?
Heh... see what I did there? -
No no no, *this* song will get stuck in your head.

Quote:lol, yeah. I knew it was come'n and I still flinched a little. Sometimes you just can't help it.I really enjoyed the part where they meet up with Matilda Bagshott who as it turned out was Voldies snake, when it came flying back out of the hole that it had been blasted into my wife jump out of her seat as it came flying towards them, got a crack round the ear for laughing at her

Quote:Nice. I think I prefer Metal Gear Rex better, though. At least, design-wise. I'm not sure if a nuke could do what that mech did in that last video. ><Also, the series contains one of my favorite mecha designs, the VB-6 König Monster:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rfpxki_7ocE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIGoCbOSH_M
It's got a humanoid transformation too but you don't see that much in the show. For scale comparisons, the König Monster is about 30 feet tall, the first mecha that gets hit by that blast in the second video clip, the Macross Quarter, is about the size of a WW2 battleship. The second mecha hit by the same blast, the Battle Frontier, is the size of Manhattan. The alien/mecha they fight at the end of the series is the size of a moon.
