I've been humming and hahing over this power... I want it, because I love nukes... but I don't want it, because I've heard that it is low-level nuke damage.

I've seen it before, and it looks cool... but...

Opinions? Hard facts?

It looks cool, it taunts, and it is wildly Inefficient. Got space? take it. Can't possibly squeeze it in, don't.

Fair enough. Thanks.

It's lower damage than a "true" nuke because it has no endurance crash. It is an EXCELLENT power. Very unique.

You can drop it "out of sight". It taunts, and takes all alpha damage, and it does "decent" aoe damage and it stuns! I can't think of any reason to skip it or drop it besides the fact that you like to "gimp" yourself.

It's a very unique power. Take it and love it and use it wisely! If your team is already killing so fast, dropping it may not serve much purpose.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

/SIGNED If you are looking for a huge killing nuke the Omega Maneuver will disappoint but unlike most of those it doesn't leave you completely drained of END and I have 2 recharge reducers slotted with mine so I can use it about every 3 minutes or so. Just like Jibikao says it taunts, has a good range so you can place it without being attacked and after it goes off not only has everything taken a good deal of damage .. everything is stunned and not able to attack while you pick them off. Oh one more thing it can be placed almost anywhere I have actually used it during the LGTF and set one off in mid air taking out one of the blues during the Hamidon mission.

I was thrilled that the recent inherent Fitness allowed me to rethink my Crab build so I could soft-cap Def to all positions, not just range. Using Omega as a set mule for Melee def made it happen. Win-win!

The deciding factor for me is how you play. If you solo a lot, take it. It's an excellent power while solo.

However...
If you team a lot, it significantly loses it's effectiveness. Mostly because it takes so much time to explode and you won't need that taunt as much. I've found that... even when I start off a mob with the bomb... most of the enemies are dead by the time it goes off. That irked me so much that I decided not to keep it.

this mirrors my experience as well. I have a lot of fun with Omega when solo, almost never use it when on larger teams. it's similar to a lot of the powers for a "traps" character. teams just don't wait for longer timed powers to go off.

but solo, it's very nice for all the reasons other people have mentioned. I would add one other little trick for using it. with a little practice, you can drop a venom grenade on a group right before omega goes off. that can add quite a bit to the damage omega does and if you time it right, they have already wasted all their initial attacks on the omega drone before you start damaging them with venom and draw their attention.

it's been a blast to stealth in, throw out omega, hit them with venom and follow that up with an AOE blast or two and entire groups of +2 mobs are gone. and if anything does survive, below boss level, it is usually stunned and easy pickings.

It's a good power for the reasons stated above. Leveling up my crab, it helped quite a bit when the team didn't have an amazing alpha soaker.

The problem is it's on a long recharge, so it will be up at every few fights at most. And it is for that reason I can't recommend taking it. If you really want to try it out, take it as you level, and respec out of it at 50.

The only good usage I can see for it is as an "oh crap" power.

unfortunately, with the delay before exploding, it's not a very good "oh crap" power. if a big group is heading your way, they will frequently not be distracted by omega. it is definitely best used as an opener.

but some powers are just fun and, for me, this is one of those. I don't sit around and wait for it to recharge but if it's up and ready, I will usually fire it if a good sized group is available.

Its a stinker and reason 1234 why I don't like crabs Its a power that could of been a contender but sadly its underwhelming at best.
