Is there still interest in this ?
Dark is a good theme - as you say Riff, most ATs have a Dark set now I think. Perhaps we could push the theme a bit more, and decide an alternate customised colour for the dark powers ?
I've not been online much since last w/end though, so I figure I may have already missed the start of this ? -
-
I was planning on joining / running a few Moonfire TFs - as the WST for the weekend, presumably the XP bonus on this will be through the roof (well, larger than normal anyway).
I've a bunch of mid level toons that I was hoping to push over lvl35 - giving me more options for some of the more popular events that happen normally around here (I'm looking at you, ITFs). -
Same question here - a few concepts come to mind, but they're mostly portrait (as most movie posters are). So, is portait OK ?
-
Sounds like a good idea
I generally tend to spend most of my time on lower level toons anyway. Partly, because I only have 4 lvl50s after 6 years. (Actually, this probably also explains why I only have 4 of them). The Incarnate stuff is interesting, but it's not something I'm interested in doing too frequently. (Each to their own though)
Sundays are probably easier for me, in terms of commitment. -
I was finishing up the Harvey Maylor story arc the other evening, when I ran into a couple of issues. One was frustrating, the other was a specific bug.
First, the frustrating one: The penultimate mission on Maylor's arc is a 'Hunt' mission - to defeat 50 Carnies. Great, no problems - except, there are very few areas blueside where you can find Carnies on the streets. There are a few of 'em in a small part of PI, but that's about it. (at least, AFAIK)
If we're asked to go out and hunt 'em, then it would be nice if their spawn locations / rates were increased - at least in certain parts of PI.
...This leads me nicely into my second issue...
Because of the aforementioned lack of Carnies on the street, I used the police scanner to see if I could find some missions with Carnies in them. A couple of return trips back to Talos, and a Carnie mission was available. I ran this through, reset it, and ran it again. I managed to defeat the requisite 50 carnies (and I even got a couple of shards, which was a nice bonus !).
I finished the police band mission, exited, and was immediately set up with the finale of the Maylor Arc - which was expected. However, there was no mission entrance. No location on the Nav bar, and when I tried the mission teleporter temp power, it failed, and I had the following error:
Quote:Frustrating ! - I was only running the Arc, so I could clear it from my 'active' list. I petitioned it, and the awesome GM_Brandon took a look, confirmed it was bugged, and auto completed the mission for me. So, all good in the end.You have a mission, but it has an invalid door_id. Make sure that the city zone containing your door is running on a live mapserver!
I've a theory on what happened here: Presumably the defeat of the 50th carnie triggers the creation of the final mission. Perhaps because I was already on an instanced map when I reached this goal, the spawn point of the mission entrance couldn't be created (I would guess it would have spawned somewhere in PI if I was on a street map). Perhaps the mission entrance was spawned somewhere inside the instanced map I was on at the time ? (Which may fit the above message).
I guess there's no way of knowing though. I'm half tempted to try and recreate it with another toon, or through Oro. But only if I'm really bored :-) GM_Brandon recommended reporting the issue here as well, so here it is!
Right, that's enough typing, better get on with my Sunday. Apologies if this is a known issue. I couldn't see any mention of it elsewhere -
Big apologies again for all the DCs yesterday. The last one was a stinker, and I had to force crash my PC to get control back. By the time it had recovered, I assumed the TF had completed. That, and I was kinda of shattered, but that's my age
It was good fun though, although I'll admit it would have been better if I'd known what those EoE things were actually for before I'd used them
Would definitely be up for something similar, so thanks Riff for organising. -
Hmm, unless I'm being spectacularly daft, it looks like it's the Moonfire / Operative Renault TFs over the DXP w/end:
Quote:Which are both nice mid level TFs (23-28 and 25-30 respectively). This information I got from the announcements threadMarch 13th to March 19th - The Kheldian War (from Moonfire in Striga Isle) / The Temple of the Waters (from Operative Renault in Sharkhead Isle)
Although it looks like ParagonWiki lists the WST for the w/end as Tin Mage - I wonder if the order was changed to what's now listed on the official thread (or at least what's showing as I write this) ?
-
Count me in for this as well.
I can bring either another rad troller, or one of my meele 50s. Depends on what else we have on the night, I guess. -
And whilst I'm on, how about being able to adjust the split between the message list and email body ?
It would be nice if we could move the splitter to increase the number of messages visible in the message list. Especially seeing how most of the character / account item message bodies are no more than one line -
Again, my usual caveat: Apologies if this has been raised before - I certainly can't find any previous threads on this.
I'd like to see some alternate animations (power customisation) for the 'sword' powers you get in the blaster sets Fire / Ice Manipulation. Rather than always use a sword animation, I'd like the option to customize the power to use a different animation - like Scorch for example, from the Fire Melee set).
The 'sword' powers are great powers, but at an aesthetic level, conceptually they're not a great fit for some of my toons - which are generally tech origin. The 'swords' (in my narrow mind at least) tend towards the 'fantasy' realm a bit - which might be ok for some, but is something I tend to avoid (not my usual cup of tea)
My fire / fire blaster is case in point: I've not even taken the two 'sword' powers in Fire Manipulation, as they don't fit the concept of the character - who 'shoots' fire from his gloves. (Even Fire Breath can be changed from being an actual 'breath')
Conceptually, I could see him ignting his gloves, and then punching someone, but I can't stretch the concept to him being able to generate - and hold - a 'solid' weapon made of fire.
It's largely a conceptual issue - and almost certainly a subjective one as well, but just putting the idea out there. If it's not already there -
First up, big apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I have searched for similar threads - but my search-fu is not strong, and I may have missed it...
I was wondering if there was any chance of adding a description to Account / Character items - one that shows up in the email interface in game?
Other than experience (or looking it up on the web), you've no way in game of knowing what an Account / Character item does until you've claimed it.
Case in point: I've got an enchancement catalyst in the inventory of my lvl35 blaster. It'll have to stay there until I get him to lvl50. It's not a major problem - I'll get to use it eventually, but having a description of the item in the email interface available before I claimed it, would have given me the option of picking it up with a different toon. (Or at least would have reminded this duffer about how they work)
Granted, some are more obvious than others - but in the case above, whlist I knew what a catalyst was, I hadn't seen one since I played in Beta a few weeks back, and I forgot that they only apply to lvl50 alts.
Hope I'm explaining this right, and apologies again If I've missed an existing thread on this -
Dependant on what the WST is that weekend (and whether or not the bonus multiplies with DXP), I'll most likely be trying to get as many of my mid level toons to lvl35 - getting them over the drag that kicks in around lvl30* - and to the all important 'sweet spot' for things like MSRs, ITFs etc...
DXP w/ends always have a higher player count, so there's more teaming / TF actions going on, so I hope to get some older toons over the lvl35 hump.
Of course, that plan will go to pot, and I'll probably waste it farting around with concept toons based on bad puns that I end up scrapping after a few hours. So no different from any other weekend
*As I percieve it, anyway -
Quote:Last DXP weekend, if I remember right, the WST was the Apex TF - which meant that the 2x XP didn't count (it being a lvl 50 TF).... get to the Weekly Strike Force for mega-boosted Quadruple XP!
Will be interesting to see what WST they set for that weekend when they next update the list. Here's hoping it's something like Sister Psyche's (although it'll probably be one of the Respec Trials. Again)
-
As mentioned, I'm up for this - this is the first year when I'm not bogged down with other stuff, and September looks pretty clear at the moment.
I will need a computer, as mine isn't very portable. Or good, but that's another matter -
Good show !
I'm hoping to be able to make it this year - a variant amount of "faff" has always prevented me attending these things before, but this year looks clear (so far anyway)
-
Another summit ? - good show !
For those of us who will catch this on UStream (and I hope you do stream it again), can you possibly put the camera in a better position this time ?
If you can run the in house PA into the stream (rather than use the camera's mic), then that would be good as well.
And just to be even more of a pain in the rrrrrs (), is it possible to cut the slides into the stream as well ? - so when Positron (or whoever) puts a slide up at the conference, we see a copy of it on the stream ? (Not sure I'm describing that well enough...)
I don't know how UStream works, so I don't know if either of the last two are even an option, but it would make it easier to follow for those of us in 'remote attendance' - I found it very hard to follow what was being presented on the last summit's stream. -
Spotted that as well. These are all great TFs / Trials, but was kinda hoping that they'd have rotated a few of the other targets in for next month.
-
Just to add to the confusion (hey, I'm here to help
)...
Like most folks, I got my overdue Reward Token (and the Unshakeable badge) on the 25th. All cool with me - now I can use the /auctionhouse command. Nice.
Logged in this morning, and I've got another token - and the next badge (Diligent).
Not that I've any problems with that, but still, all a bit confusing.
And no, I've not purchased and Paragon Points either.
RoboTank lights the blue touch paper, and stands well back -
I've been playing with my Dark / Dark blaster almost exclusively since Freedom launched.
I have to say I'm having fun with it - up to lvl 25 so far. As others have said, the two sets are missing some of the power types that seem to be present in other blast / manip sets, but in my opinion, this only adds to the gameplay - I like the fact that I'm having to rethink my usual blaster strategy.
I'm specifically loving Abyssal Gaze - on the face of it, just a single target hold, but I'm finding it great for mob control.
As with all things like this, it's all subjective - but I just seem to be able to be more creative with the attacks on my Dark Blaster than I am on either of my other blasters.
Just my opinion mind... -
... sort of.
Mark Millar is again auctioning off naming rights for his characters, this time the villain for his upcoming collaboration with Dave Gibbons and Matthew Vaughn.
Empire report it here
Only a couple of days left.
Apologies if this has been posted already - I couldn't find any other mention of this in these parts (which suprised me)
-
It looks like I might actually have a rare bit of 'me' time this weekend*, so I may be venturing into Paragon for a bit of double XP action. Although it looks like i21 beta will be happening at the same time.
Anyone not spending the w/end on the Beta server ?
* I have so jinxed that now -
Heh - I don't really have much stuff of interest. All I ever seem to get is Revolver and Gabriel's Hammer recipies
Besides, what I do have I'll want when I get back (although it'll probably be superseeded by lots of cool Freedom stuff) -
As the title suggests, I'm taking a bit of a break from the streets of Paragon.
Ultimately, commitments in the RealLife engine will soon be reducing the amount of time I have free for this game for a while, but I will also admit to feeling a bit of a grind with the game at the moment.
I'll be keeping my sub going, and I'll most likely be back whenever Freedom / i21 goes live. I think this will be one of the best releases yet for the game, and will hopefully breath life back into some of the more emptier parts of the game. By then, I may well have gotten the 'itch' back as well :-)
I've never been much of a forum poster (more of lurker), but I'd like to think I've got a little bit of rep on Defiant, and the Defiant Events channel (possibly a bad rep, mind) - so I thought I'd post this here, just in case anyone wonders where my lousy tactics, faceplanting, and crashing have gone...
So, toodle pip for now. See you all on the other side.

*"RoboWho?" - -
I've been having irregular, but frequent crashes with the CoH client. After wrestling back control of my PC, I see a notification that the "Display Driver has stopped working".
All my drivers are up to date, as is my o/s. I don't even run CoH in Ultra Mode (although the game does suggest it). I run other more graphically intense applications for longer periods of time, without any similar issues.
It's making it hard to play - and means I'm unreliable for teaming - if I can't guarantee I won't crash out just when I'm needed....
I've logged a support call for this, but thought I'd post here as well...
