It took me a good 3 minutes last night to build an 8-player PuG at 2:15am ET.
Clearly people hate this game and nobody wants to play it.
DOOOOooooooOOOOOOOm! -
Fully HALF the players I found for a Pr. White arc PuG last night were on Trial Accounts - not entirely sure if that counts as "new players".
But I did LOVE the fact that Sending a Tell to a Trial Account player now generates an automatic Reply TELLING YOU THEY'RE ON A TRIAL ACCOUNT!
LOVE IT!
I never use Blind Invites, but now feel comfortable sending one to a Trial Account after sending an invite Tell so they know what's what and can Accept or Decline with some forewarning.

Quote:What puzzles me is people with no Vet badges who CLEARLY know what they're doing. I don't wanna pry and ask what that's about - guessing it's returning players - but then why no Vet badges - those are persistant despite subscription lapses, Yes?Checking vet badges of characters I run across (mostly on Virtue and Victory Nova Praetoria), I find about one completely new player for every four returning/still playing players, and three of those are >4 year vets. -

O okay thanks - I was on this weekend so I have it already, and without having to juggle stuff.
Thanks for the help! -
At work now, need pre-help for GR download later tonight.
I have two Hard Drives - CoH is on C: drive, which is stuffed.
I'd like to have GR live on E: drive, which isn't.
-Is GR a big download, does anyone know precisely how big?
-Does it have to go in the same Directory/Drive as CoH or can it go elsewhere?
I can always swap some other stuff to E: to make room on C:, just hoping I won't have to. -
For what it's worth (and to each his own), but after trying all the ATs and nearly all the powerset combos over the years, my ALL-TIME FAVORITE hero is an Illusion/Storm Controller.
Another player referred to it as "Chaos in a Can".
Pop the top and WHOOOOSH stand back!
It will challenge your situational, strategic, and tactical skills to the limit, but is wildly powerful if used correctly, and just incredibly fun to play. -
/macro Derp! "say, Ready to go kneel in a corner for a few minutes to regain my End while you guys continue fighting without me!$$powexec_name Nova"

Dude, I live in NYC. My cockroaches could totally take your cockroaches.

Quote:Oh come on Michelle, you should know this community by now.
Thank you for the time...
Seriously! Is it so wrong that I'm looking forward to your Vid as much as I am to the release itself?
Your stuff has gotten larger than just fans & players excited about seeing the in-game stuff, we all really appreciate your uber production skillz in general. Each piece is like a little work of art. Has a dramatic arc, great soundtracks, clever editing, emotional moments, inside jokes, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
Good luck getting settled after the move, and HUGE THANKS for all that you've already done, and will do. -
Was hoping that with the NDA lifted Dark_Respite (aka Samuraiko) would deliver a G-R video she made during Closed Beta - but nothing yet? or am I just not finding it?
-
Y'know, it's weird I wasn't all that jazzed UNTIL I saw the FLOOD of heroes pouring in, and back to, the game.
I'm just psyched to see Paragon (at this point, and Praetoria eventually) packed to the gills with new/returning players.
Wondering if my very first uber-mentor Orion Arms will put in an appearance... -
Quote:Just wondering, but could you describe your scoring system if you wouldnt mind? Just curious as such
I'm pretty sure Steelie did this in DEPTH in a previous thread - use Find More Posts by SteelClaw by clicking on his name above his Avatar.
(fyi I didn't see the post first-hand, just heard someone mention it after-the-fact) -
fix't
If you're gonna do the cranky-oldster thing, do it right.
Now, come play on my lawn - no, ignore the little lumps, they're not Trip Mines, I promise!
p.s. @ Ashcraft:Quote:I remember almost all of the stuff in this thread.
You don't say!
I can haz sum Inf? -
Roadmaster for even more flexibility you might want to familiarize yourself with Binds and Macros.
You can read more about these powerful tools in the Player Guides/Guide to Binds section (<-linky). -
Actually y'know now that I think about it, Psychoti's right - you really DON'T want to "see it all", especially if "all" has anything to do with our beloved Troy Hickman and his notorious predeliction for playing (and posting) sans-pants.
-
Three pages of posts - a handful of mentions - but I don't feel that anyone has truly captured the horror of the old SideKick/Mentor system (maybe because SuperSideKicking is still so fresh).
But does no one remember (without throwing up a little in your mouth) seeing
"YOUR MENTOR IS GETTING OUT OF RANGE" o crap
"YOUR MENTOR IS OUT OF RANGE" faceplant!
Or the Mentor who forgot he was a Mentor and hospitaled after faceplanting, leaving you staring at +36 level mobs with a large, dusty brick in your throat?
Or SideKick Tetris in general; pairing up, finding the best match, switching up, people who simply refused to Mentor, SideKicks who wouldn't stay with their Mentor, Mentors who wouldn't stay with their SideKicks....etc. etc. omg I'm feeling a little faint.
O and:
Quote:QFT I remember weekly - sometimes DAILY - debates in Broadcast "No, Unyielding is harder than Tenacious, but not as hard as Invincible." "But I thought Rugged was easier than Heroic" "Yes Rugged is harder than Tenacious but Unyeilding is still not as hard as Invincible" "Yeah but...."There was a difficulty system, but it had many fewer options than what exists now, all with names that you had to learn like a code
And don't forget you HAD TO PAY for the privilege of changing your Difficulty setting. -

Something like that GG?
Best of luck Fire Lily, thanks for sharing your memories! -
Quote:I found your Reply unhelpful and a little hurtful so I wiped out the internets and started over from scratch! You know, I could swear I replied to RobertoLyon's question in this thread last week.
Is there a way to tell if one of your posts was deleted for some reason?
Just kidding - thanks for your alleged Reply! -
Quote:One important thing to remember as well, is that in the time you've been gone, QUITE A FEW new zones and areas have been introduced, that tend to spread the population around.I don't see why that is such a hard thing to admit really... the game pop is a fraction of what it was only 2 years ago.
It's just kinda sad that it's not as heavily populated as it used to be. I
Ouroboros, the Mission Architect, a revamped RWZ, the Midnighter's Club, Cimerora, the University, Wentworth's (the market), revamped Hollows & Faultline (with new missions/arcs), etc.
Not disagreeing that population may be down from what you remember, but at the same time, the population that IS online, is a bit more scattered. -
Have to say, as an habitual PuG-former/leader, some of these responses are really eye-opening.
Like an earlier poster, I'm in my mid-40s, have left A.D.D. behind, and prefer to focus on one thing at a time, and hopefully doing that one thing very, very well.
But now when I see one of my PuG-members not participating or doing so half-heartedly, I'll have to wonder which other Window they're reading, spreadsheet they're updating, music they're searching for, TV show they're watching, Ventrilo conversation they're having, etc. etc.
Meanwhile, I'll be busy "enjoying City of Heroes".
City of Heroes players = Welcome to my fast, fun PuG!
Multi-taskers sorta paying attention to City of Heroes = No Thanks. -
Hero, a question like this will get a more enthusiastic response if you post in the Tech Issues & Bugs forum (<-linky).
This forum's more for in-game questions like "at what level can I get a cape", while more of the real hard-core tech heads lurk in the other forum. -
BabyMage exiting her first inter-dimensional portal!
Classic! -
Losing your cursor happens to everyone at some point.
One suggestion that seems to work if you're really frustrated:
In Windows - set your Mouse Settings to Show Trails.
Helps you find it without too much searching. -
Quote:Always good to see a new subscription - this reminds me of a couple of nights ago - found a new player on a Trial Account - no badges - ex-WoW transplant - I gifted him some Inf, helped him get his bearings, answered some questions, TP'd him to his first badges (City Hall roof & Atlas globe), watched his back as he pummeled his first baddies. You guys have been a great help. Thank you ALL for the links and feedback.
I'm subscribing tonight when I get home.
Finally, he says something like "OK lol you got me"
Me: got you?
Him: yah I'm from WoW I heard you guys were really nice and all but Holy Cow! I'm in - I'll buy the full version tomorrow.

Accomplished!
