  1. Same for me. Other pcs in the house working fine on wireless or wired, running different games or Internet.

    Guess there is something going on. I am in the eastern USA (Maybe it only affects certain areas).
  2. The toon I posted the build on above has been around since the very beginning almost. I really saw the population diminish with issue 3 I think it was. The defense lessened and permanent unstoppable went away. It wasn't until this year when I came back to the game that i finished this build. It was very expensive but if there's one hero I want to pull out and really feel "super", this guy is definitely it. With the defenses so high, I really think he can do some things that pretty incredible.
  3. Here's my everyday DM/INV. There are about 7 or 8 ways to tweak higher S/L to about 60%, EN/NEG to 50%, or FIRE/COLD to about 49% but with any variation, it keeps the fitness pool, maintains a travel power, and keeps the end use ~1-1.04/sec.

    He's a blast to play and endurance is never a issue.

    Invincibility

    In my DM/INV scrapper slots are very tight so I have tried various ways to get max benefit without wasting slots. My best overall fix has been 4 slots: 3 cytos and one LOTG recharge. That has been by far my best return after trying various things.

    Great nugget about the Nictus being able to be slept. I am sure I have done it (it has taken) but my teammates probably woke them quickly (and I didn't know to mention to them that we could sleep them)..
  6. Thanks for the info. Good stuff . I was kind of thinking it would be something like that. I can see/dream of a situation where detaining a person or object would make all the difference but in reality I figured something odd would have to be in play ( like your damage dealers d/c and suddenly you need to isolate your targets to take them out). Otherwise, I get the feeling most people would just rather dog pile most AVs and objects.
  7. Can a controller use the detention field power to effectively isolate the healing nictus from rommy? Useful? Not so much? I'm curious because I haven't seen anyone use one but in theory I could see some task force uses of this power.

    Anyone have any playing experiences to share (good or bad)?
  8. I have a DM/INV scrapper and at least on that toon, I have no end issues at all despite the three inv toggles and tough and weave. In PVE, he is easily a top notch build that is frequently left standing when the rest of the team runs into a buzz saw.

    I do not have Unstoppable in the build and have only the resist energies passive (it is a very tight build. Otherwise I would have the other passive).

    DM allows me to recapture endurance but I use the power more for the proc I have slotted than I ever do as a need for endurance.

    The toon IS slotted out very expensively but at the end of the day if I am wanting to feel unbeatable this is the toon I bring out.

    He is at 44% S/L defense WITHOUT invincibility running and can get up to about 62% when in a mob. Elec/ener defense is about 40 and range is mid 20s or so I think. With the defense, some good resistance, the heal in dull pain on 115 seconds and the end recovery, with all the accolades, he is pretty impressive in PVE. By far the most I feel like a "hero" when playing.
  9. I have just jumped over from years of playing a scrapper and am trying a mind/FF controller for the first time. Here's my build idea for it. Its not tweaked out and could use some improvements I'm sure but it does seem very fun and playable so far and is manageable with endurance, etc.

    It's not the cheapest build in the world but far from the most expensive.

    I've taken some advice from others who have mind/ff trollers and it seems Primal is a very popular epic pool because of the huge boost it gives to mass hypnosis, confuse, etc. In the end, however, I chose ice because of the defense/resist and, in theory (not sure if it will actually play out like this in the real world), I envision being able to use the slows from ice over a large area to maintain distance between me and the enemies and force them to use range attacks. With this build, I can reach the range cap easily enough and also get the S/L pretty high. As a Controller, I figure I will team a lot and should more times than not be able to receive S/L buffs from teammates that will make my S/L defense near or at the cap too (it seems to be a very common team buff).

    I did not choose Hibernate just because of the personal force field.

    Hey Oedipus Tex. Firat of all, I wanted to say thanks. I have been following a couple of your suggestions on a Mind/FF Controller I just made (my first troller) and I'm loving it. Really solid thoughts from you on the set has been a great boost.

    For your scrapper, I think Cyber_naut nailed it. ANY scrapper can do the scrapper job, etc, but to have the ones that really stand out, you simply MUST take advantage of the set bonuses and such, and that means spending some money. I have spent (and farmed, and traded, and marketed) a ton on my main toon, but its oh so rewarding. I have to say all the work and influence feels totally justified every single time I am the last guy standing .

    It seems like you really like your toon and you have a great concept/backstory, etc. I would suggest that you just jump in and start making the improvements. I know your area of expertise is in the non-farming area so I'll toss this out there: you may be thinking of it as a million mile journey, but using your scrapper, it will go quicker (maybe just a 500,000 mile journey..hehe).

    The things I would add to what others have said (or underscore):

    1:Use Parry to your advantange and work on getting to the softcap on one of your positional defenses. I'm not an expert on Fire or BS, so I'll leave the specifics to the great guys around here that know their stuff.
    2: My motto for you: :If you can't prevent it; patch it". If it just doesn't look like you're gonna be able to hit some of those desired defense levels due to whatever reason (and you can't prevent the damage), then work on recharge (and patch it). That should be an easy enough route and, in the end, increased survivability is going to make your journey a lot more fun.
  11. DM/INV is an awesome, awesome monster of a toon at higher levels.

    What you are needing is Invincibility at level 28.

    In my experience with the sets, I would highly recommend that you get Siphon life as soon as you can possibly get it and get dull pain as well. Emphasize slotting them both (in a good end build, Siphon is going to be 6 slotted. Dull Pain is at least 5 slotted, depending on how you want to build...I 6 slot for a few different reasons).

    Although my DM/INV has been level 50 for about 5 years, I can vividly recall that it WAS some tough sledding on those final handful of levels prior to 28. But, as an illustration to just how much Invincibility will change your toon when you hit 28; although it was about 5 years ago since I hit 28, I STILL remember exactly what happened when I hit 28.

    I was in Terra Volta trying to get to 28, fighting Freakshow on a catwalk and just grinding and grinding. I leveled, got Invin and came back and picked back up with the Freaks. Two minutes later, I was like "Yes. This is exactly why I wanted an INVIN!"

    Stick with it, you'll love your toon.
  12. I can't speak for SR, but my DM/INV is amazingly survivable, always seems to be welcome in groups and can easily do solo work on almost anything.

    Over the years, I have used it less and less. The time I find it actually used the most is when I have a large group around me and tap sould drain prior. Otherwise, its main funstion these days is to 3 (or 4) slot it with eradication for the bonus.
  14. I have an INV that is extremely survivable with the primary key being that he hits 47% S/L defense with one enemy in range of invincibility, but its by far the most expensive toon I have (I haven't even bothered to calculate it but I'm sure its in the 4-5 Billion range).

    Kinetic combats, Oblits, uniques for recovery and recharge are what makes it works so well.

    Thanks for putting the word out there. That is really appreciated.

    With all that has been said re: this announcement, I sincerely hope that you could look at a different solution and process for these types of things. These are the kinds of things that drove me away from the game the first time (and a lot of my friends).

    Its not that changes are made. Its not that problems are identified and corrected. It IS, like a few people mentioned, that people put SO MUCH time into the game playing by the rules that are out there, play for so many hours, spend so much of the game's resources (influence, etc), and then it gets changed and all you get for the 12 TFs, 180 hours, etc is a respec.

    I really have no idea why I posted this as my first comment in four years. I know its whining and crying and all, and I don't even have more than one set of these things in any of my toons, and I'm sitting here like "fine. If a change needs to be made, so be it, but how about some considerations for literarly months of work that go into building your toons.
