    Do you guys big Gold/Silver/Bronze?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Buy rather than big?

Unless the toon is in the 30s, I buy Bronze. I choose the lower end of things when the character gets into the high forties, since a number of nice Pool As that cap at 30 are fairly rare. I also like to slot the two Steadfasts and Karma -kb on nearly every alt and get them for my sg-mates, and low Bronze produce a lot of these.

Like you say, Bronze *seems* more lucrative on average. It also seems more fun to me, 'cause MORE RECIPES.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Going lower doesn't seem especially useful these days. There was a while where 10-15 was a really good bet, mostly because of the price of Basilisk's Gaze. After a while that dropped and the value there faded. I haven't checked that for a while, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Crafted, Basilisk quads were about 70 million recently and the proc around 20 (I think).
  3. [ QUOTE ]
They save up their merits and decide to roll the 25-29 range. What will be the odds of getting LoTG and/or Miracle at that point versus saving all merits to roll in the 30-34 range?

    [/ QUOTE ]

30-34 is the most populated roll possible--nearly every set passes through 30, so the odds would be better for those two at 25-29. Rolling 25-29 at 30 or higher is pretty good for selling, since highly desired 30s often sell for 10s of millions.

We don't know the weighting yet, though there's a Catwhoorg thread on it somewhere in here. Heals *seem* to be weighted quite a bit lower than def, res, ranged, melee, AoE, PBAoE.
  4. After an excruciating Twilight's Son TF, which ended with me using a tank to solo an EB possessing -def, -tohit, -rech, and a self-heal, I got the final merits to provide me with six TF rolls at 33. (The merit/hour on that one was about 1.5.) Off to the merit-changer, and ...

    Miraculous Ending

It turned out the 350-pounder was dreamy, too.

  6. Sold! But maybe that's the tequila talking...
  7. So I look at the price of Miracle uniques yesterday, and the lvl40 has gotten to selling for a significant chunk of change (and I didn't even think to check the 20).

The dilemma is that I have a level 32 toon with 119 merits, which I was planning to roll at 33, because pool C/D recipes are handy at that level and tend to sell for a bit more than the immediate neighbors higher and lower. Oh yeah, and to help out the market and all that altruism stuff.

But now, saving for 240 merits might seem worth it.

Argue to help stop me from my selfish ways!
  8. It's a shame it wasn't a lvl 40 miracle, because then there would be no question of selling it. Some are paying 200 million for the lvl 40 right now.

You probably could sell it priced above the current going rate, as it seems that the majority people aren't rolling merits (as you did) in a way to get miracles, and they've consequently gotten rarer. The rarity might make it worth saving for another toon.
  9. What is all the recharge for?

It's certainly nice to have the cones popping up under 4 seconds to pile them on, but without enhanced damage (unless you're always gonna be fulcrum shifted +300%--which would likely mean you'd have +recharge going anyhow) it seems less meaningful, and the debuffs don't mean as much with your defense.

Repulsion Bomb and Dark Pit up a lot?

I've done a somewhat similar thing with an FF/Sonic, but the attacks are slotted for damage (and the recharge isn't near as good). It did require Box/Tough/Weave though.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Oh also if you think they should be baned because they used AE to lvl.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They only are baned if they get their AE fifty villainside. That, or widowed, I guess.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

    [ QUOTE ]
Since you're going to be using it at least once every 10 seconds, I think it's best to slot it to be an effective attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I ruminated on it, this came to mind.
  12. New to the swordy scraps. How do folks typically slot Divine Avalanche?

    Default accuracy?

    Regular attack?

    Frankenslotted defbuff & attack?

I cleared over 100 million in pure profit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Impressive.

    no stamina.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, I've realized that.

    [ QUOTE ]
arctic air should be mongrel slotted for end red/confuse and procs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

On the dual build (with Stamina) that's how AA is slotted (4 end/conf, 2 procs, I think). The set in this build has got two positional defense bonuses, at the cost of decent endredux.
  15. Suggestions for improving this blue-eating-not-getting-hit-so-much controller?

(I've played it a couple levels this way, and Transference needs to be cast quite often.)

Has anyone used the Theft of Essence +end proc in Transfusion? Does it give you endurance or your target--as the Performance Shifter does? (I realize this is not the most efficient use of a slot, but an occasional immediate boost of end would be useful, I suspect.)

  16. I'd swap the five slots in Caltrops--unless you really use it every time it recharges--for Gaussian's in Focus Chi. Every set bonus in Gaussian's is worthwhile (2.5% to all positional def), Focus Chi recharges 8 seconds faster, and you could probably frankenslot Eagle's Claw to up the recharge/end redux. You could also then drop a slot from one of the Red Fortunes and do, uh, something with it.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
I would love to be able to find normal functioning teams in this game anymore. I mean I used to run with teams that were perfect, Tankers would tank, controllers would hold, Scrappers would help with damage along with blasters, and defenders would heal/buff. But nowadays we get Scrappers that stand on the edge and use Shockwave and Torrent because they make for fun powers because they're knocking the mob around....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, at least they're standing on the edge--better than standing in the middle and dividing the spawn in two.

I prefer more versatile players than your golden age's teammates, people who go beyond their primary--defenders who blast, blasters who control, controllers who tank, tanks who smash, etc...
  18. Lots of nice stacked bonuses

    Little things:

Likely you don't want to scrap the 4th and 5th Decimation bonuses in Neutrino Bolt, but damage procs do more on average than your standard SO's-worth of damage in NB (@50 ~14/activation vs. ~7 per). I like the Devastation hold proc in NB, too.

Since your accuracy AND to hit (not to mention RI) are so high, I'd scrap the Acc/Dmg in Neutron Bomb for the Positron's proc.

The fifth set bonus in Basilisk's ain't really worth it with AM running all the time. Maybe a Rech or Rech/Hold in the slot for the quad (running 40+ mio crafted these days).

I might swap out Proton Volley and put in Aim with another Adjusted Targeting (I don't think you've done too many +5% recharges) for even more umph on the AoEs.

One other option for recharge--though you'd need to find two other slots to steal besides three from Mutation. Maneuvers instead of Assault with 5 Red Fortune and an LotG +recharge. Maybe you could do it with Vengeance instead, since Assault is juicier with EF...

Why the Numina's in Health? This character probably won't need much more in the way of regen/recov...

    Debilitative Action: Disorient Bonus
This enhancement adds a 2% chance to disorient your foe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Worst. IO. Ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't the Unspeakable Terror disorient worse, since it's the same chance and mag and will only proc on something that's already feared!?
  20. [ QUOTE ]

The *point* was the percentage return value gets hit hard on the high-end stuff, but you
got SEVENTEEN fricking Million for ONE slot....

    [/ QUOTE ]

And my only point was that it's not an ignorable amount, cutting nearly in half the profit you claim the first go round. Yeah, fees don't matter as long as you're turning a profit, and when you've been marketeering a while the calculation is probably automatic, but it's something to keep track of...

    [ QUOTE ]
How many of *those* transactions would you like to have, sir???

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not a gentleman, and I would not deign to flip uncommon salvage (making me perhaps as snobbish as a gentleman) except maybe on a character starting on a new server. I certainly enjoy the 15 million plus transactions, and am lazily working a couple such niches now.

I do still remember the days when buy-craft-sell that made a 100%-200% profit--1 million per slot!--seemed a big deal. Then I wised up.

Best investment evah (percentage-wise)--picking up a handful of Shield Breaker procs for 1,011,111, one for which the generous soul MrLiberty gave me 30 million.
  21. You should take the LotG def/rech out of Evasion and Focused Fighting. They're not adding anything but recharge (not worthwhile) and a smidge of defense because of ED, unless your LotGs are below ~lvl 34. The +rech actually adds defense, too. Voila, two slots.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Buy a purple recipe for 120M, craft and sell it for
155M... Ignoring fees and such, it's only ~23% profit, but it's 35 fricking Million influence
    in one transaction!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You ignore 15.5 mio in fees?!
  23. Is it a level 21 IO? If so, I'd recommend to sell it and use the proceeds to buy yourself a recipe of slightly higher level if you find you need it.

I haven't looked at the prices in a while, but 21s crafted used to range in price from 15 to 40 million. Recipes for most in the 20s were available between 5-10 million. (Again, this info may be outdated.) Check the prices for recipes and crafted through the 20s. Salvage for the 21-25 will cost you less than 100k, above that for probably something in the neighborhood of 1 million influence.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Personally I always thought taking Heal Self on my FF/Elec defender was one of the smartest moves I ever did with her. Hit PFF, then Heal Self, drop PFF and get back into the fight without those pesky interruptions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't that a rather pesky interruption itself? I was much happier when I dropped Aid Other (stop running away, dagnabbit!) and Aid Self and went for +def.
  25. I was pretty bored with my FF/Sonic, until I respecced him to emphasize +def for ranged and AoE. He reached the softcap for ranged at lvl 36 and is over 40 and 30 respectively for AoE/Melee at present.

It did cost a couple of my useful knockback powers (which I'll pick up at 38 and 41, probably) in exchange for Tough (so far only for the Steadfast res/def) and Weave, which I sacrificed mainly because I wanted to try out Force Bubble.

It's a treat to draw the alpha-strike (I've tried up to a team of six, so far) when you've got a slightly timid tank or scrapper as the other non-squishies, especially when you rarely have to resort to PFF. Even if *certain people* want healers when they're fighting +5/+6s and not dying.

This build is entertaining enough that I'm planning on doing the same thing for my Cold/Ice defender, who will have to use full sets of Lockdown in the plan, and some of the debuff sets that have nice 6-slot def bonuses.
