Quote:Gotta agree with Loth here. Sure, we could go back and forth a few times with a mild discussion of the wisdom of packing a lot of players into the same (older) zone, but that same discussion could be made about any 2xXP weekend or the release of a new TF or even the rare "dev sponsored" special events (like the Manti/Sis P wedding) and parties (Pocket D Meet and Greets) which pack even more players into a zone.To me this game has become like an ice cream store with (for the sake of argument) 19 flavors of ice cream. Yesterday the "store owners" just introduced a new flavor. Obviously everyone's going to crowd around the end of the store where the new flavor is kept and there will be shortages/problems with serving it until everyone gets used to dealing with it. But eventually it'll become just like all the other flavors: some people will like it, others won't. Time will move on and sooner or later the Devs will give us yet another new flavor to choose from.
I see the introduction of the WSTs as no better or worse than any other newly introduced feature.
We'll have to adapt to it just like anything else. *shrugs*
This mini-issue has been a nice, straightforward release that is precisely what it says on the tin. If there's any negative commentary I feel could legitimately be made it's the +1 crash issue, but that has nothing to do with the Weekly Target and would exist no matter what the weekly target was. -
Quote:This one strikes me as a bit odd for two reasons, the first of which is above. The second is that it's access to a slash command rather than a "click power" set up by the devs. Yes, we can just macro it, but that doens't detract from the fact that it's the first time a vet reward has been "just" a slash command. My main gripe about it is that we already had the precedent of other "remote access" powers being obtainable as Accolade powers. The Field Crafter badge grants the Portable Workbench power and the Mission Engineer badge grants the Architect Comlink power. Why couldn't there have been a new market accolade power made for this to match the others? There's no obvious reason why this new "access" power had to be gated behind a high-end Vet award other than it just being an arbitrary decision on the Devs' part.
I'll have this power in a few months so it's not that big a deal for me personally. I just continue to feel sorry for the folks who only have a few months or years into this game. *shrugs*
To me, it feels like the Devs suddenly realized they needed a reward and this one got tossed on the table. That's not to say it's not an ability I WANT, just that the above two factors give it that feel. -
To my way of thinking, the only way to "reasonably" cap prices on the AH (outside the data cap of 2 billion inf) woudl be an alternate, influence bades, way to acquire everything. It woudl require a series of vendors who act precisely like the current stores who sell the recipes, salvage and inspirations at a specific price. That would act as a maximum cap on what people woudl typically pay. For instance, if you could but a LOTG +recharge global on the market for 100 million inf OR go across the street and buy the same recipe at the level you wanted for 25 million, you'd typically cross the street, thus capping the standard bidding under 25 mil without there being an actual cap. There would be the occasional "overbid" that went past the vendor price (just as there is often salvage that sells under vendor buying prices now) but for the most part it would keep prices well below whatever arbitrary limits the devs set at the vendors.
However, this would require a serious revamp of the AH systems and bidding styles to make it work. The AH would have to work more like Ebay with completely open asking and bidding amounts and auctions that start and end at specific times plus "buy it now" settings.
Basically to "cap" the market, you'd have to destroy the current one and build it basically from scratch again. -
2.5 for 18 years old and able to pass "medical criteria" (IE dying) and not having had a wish granted by a similar organization. The Medical Criteria varies slightly from illness to illness, for instance, the child also has to be "medically able" to take part in the wish itself.

This was actually a couple of months ago and they really did it up huge, shutting down entire highways for the kid's motorcade, police and fire escorts, sports teams involved as participants, hundreds (by some estimates THOUSANDS) of "civillians" getting into the act with signs and lining roadways, even some of the guys from "Deadlest Catch" got involved playing bad guys and a couple of radio and TV stations got into the act without being asked by Make-A-Wish and reran the "bad guy demands" tapes along with news stories and "blow-by-blow" footage and commentary of Electron Boy's exploits.
Even the kid who wished for it looks utterly flabbergasted in many of the photos that they pulled off something so big. An old college buddy who lives out there was on the opposing lane of the highway when the motorcade came through and people were actually puilling over and waving homemade signs as the Delorean passed by.
Make-A-Wish really outdid themselves with that one and the city got pretty much behind the fantasy wholeheartedly. -
If they include Party and/or Origins packs, I might take advantage of the sale, otherwise, it's a no-go for me, I have the rest already.

You'll need the "full edition" of GR to get the free month and it works on existing accounts. You'll also need GR to swap sides with ATs (so if you want a heroic Mastermind you cannot do it without GR). You'll also need GR to take part in the Incarnate System/endgame system coming out with I19 and beyond.

Quote:For me, at 50 Street-sweeping is slower than missions with all the "neverending missions" options we have now. I also always assume the RNG either hates me or loves me and I'm off the average. In my case it was 4 hours to a common (1 hour per day for 4 straight days). For the sake of the numbers I was also willing to add 50% to the low end and double that time frame under the assumption the RNG loved me and was dropping at better than twice as fast as normal. Via Radio/Newspaper missions I would have shaved at least a quarter off that time.Well, streetsweeping yes. I was talking about doing missions. And I'm very skeptical about the 4-6 hour figure.
The point being, in this "testers experience," within 12 hours of actually defeating enemies most should have the goods for a common Alpha Enhancer (and a lucky percentage well on their way to an uncommon). Add in buying them from Vangard with merits or getting even just one from a TF and the time drops greatly with each. I don't see the vast majority of even casual solo players being overly upset at the time frame unless they place some restrictions on themselves (like never playing their 50s). -
Quote:You consider 4-6 hours of solo play time (in this case, street-sweeping) unreasonable? Even if it is double that thanks to the RNG taking a dislike to you, most casual players will still hit the necessary shards to craft a common in a week.I'm not really into repeating mission content with the same character. I suppose that mission-oriented soloers who play one character heavily and enjoy repeating missions with that character could make use of the Incarnate stuff, because they could get shards in a not-completely-unreasonable amount of time and then repeat the missions slightly faster, or at higher difficulty.
-
Well, to be honest, it does, once you accumulate the shards to make the bits and bobs. My tanker typically runs at +3/6. With a common slotted I can run with few difficulties at +4/6 and with the uncommon slotted +4/8 becomes the benchmark. I can only imagine what the Ultra Rare Level shift is going to do for soloing.
-
Quote:I was interested in how long it would take solo without any TFs myself, so I refused to do any TFs on one test character. Just circling PI streetsweeping, I had enough shards to build a common in roughly 4 hours.I don't do those. My normal play is: do story arcs and miscellaneous missions. Solo. At level 50, I don't do those much. I have little incentive to play at 50, and getting shards every long now and then that are used for a slot that is best used for content I won't do... is not an additional incentive.
However your problem seems to be less "it will take a while" and more "I don't want to play my 50." If you don't want to play your 50, what's the complaint? Ignore the slot and do the lower level content on a non-50 alt. -
My personal feeling is that Inv handles burst damage and alphas better and WP is better in sustained fights. I can get covered up on my WP and not worry too much but a good alpha will drop me on my face. My Inv can toe to toe an AV for a good while but get dropped by a giant mass of foes. Maybe it's my builds or playstyle, but that's how it feels to me.

Quote:Considering that Tier 3 Inspirations are about to cease to be the best ones, I can live without them. Honestly, I have loads of them already and replacign them isn't too difficult through normal play. What I would really, really like this year is for Trick or Treating to drop large inspirations like they used to. I was very disappointed that they were eliminated last year. I'd be happy even if the drop rate for large insps was relatively low, as long as there was *some* chance.

Mender Ramiel is an interesting choice of name especially since it's often mixed up with Rameel (AKA Azazel), one of the most mysterious characters in Jewish mythology.
-
Not subtle to him, subtle to the viewing audience. Judging by us as the (not exactly scuentifically selected) example, it was quite subtle since no one had mentioned it in the discussion of the suffocation.

Quote:Several people commented on this, I just randomly selected this post on it as the reply.Well, we don't know how far the shuttle crashed from the stargate. For all we know it was an hour away over rugged terrain. But yeah, Riley's death was very poorly written like most things on the show. And yeah, at some point Young's actions will come back to bite him in the ***.
Riley's being snuffed out by Young was a rather obvious, and ham-fisted, counterpoint to Young's earlier attack on an Alliance soldier. In the case of the Alliance soldier he attempted to strangle him out of anger, in the case of Riley he was doing exactly the same thing but out of compassion. A second layer, such as it was, was added in that Young wanted to strand the Alliance members on the planet where he was unwilling to strand a dying crewmember.
It appears it was intended to be a somewhat subtle character moment for Young. -
Quote:I assume this is for a class, but what sort of class and what is the staging set-up? Is is an "Acting" monologue, one for a speech class, one for diction and delivery?Ok, heres the deal. I need to find a 3-5 minute monolouge to recite, and my search-fu is weak. So I'm asking you guys to suggest some good monolouges you might know.
There are some conditions:
It can't have cursing in it, or if it does I have to edit it, and it should have minimal editing. It also can't be innapropriate. Oh, and it should also be a male speaker. (Feel free to post any monolouges at all, but if they don't fit these requirements, I can't use them. But if its good I'll give it a read!)
It doesn't matter if its humourous or dramatic or sad, I'll take a look at anything.
So show me some of your favorites! (And thank you in advance!) -
As always, check with your doctor to verify and refine all of this for your specific situation.
Without knowing your age (putting you in your late 20s to early 30s if you're older these numbers drop thanks to metabolic rates droppign with age) with a nearly entirely sedentary and assuming your weight estimates are correct (especially given your difficulty finding an appropriate scale to get an accurate one) and a goal of 200 lbs at a height of 6'5", you're looking at a maximum daily load of 2,500 to 2,750 cals. At that rate you should also vary the calorie load every few days, (say 2,500 for two or three days, then 3,000 for a day, then 2,500 for two or three more days, then 3,000 for a day); this keeps your metabolism from regulating to a starvation setting and retaining calories at the lower load.
Here's where you check with your doctor again, reduce your meat intake drastically and increase your vegetable intake, both cooked and raw (and check with your doctor to maintain safe levels of both or to suppliment your diet to maintain proper mineral intake). Veggies are much harder to adequately process, so they actually burn a larger percentage of their calorie value by being processed than meat does. Vegetarian diets (especially vegan diets and double that for "Raw Foodian - Vegan" diets) are good for weight reduction simply because it is extremely difficult to eat enough volume to get into a high calorie count, but they carry the risk of missing out on vital nutrients (plus there is some pain associated with changing to them, especially gastro-intestinal pain and gas), the same goes for a low-meat regiment and have regular dental checkups because grinding up a large volume of plant matter can cause much heavier tooth wear.
Split your meals into three, fairly evenly spaced, moderate meals (in this case about 550-600 calories each) and three smaller "large snacks" (about 150-200 calories each) throughout the day. That includes drinks, water is your good friend since it has no calories, unsweeted tea is also another good friend. Since you have an aversion to leftovers, do not have leftovers. Make meals small enough that eating all of it puts you at your calorie count for that meal.
While you're at it, reduce your soda intake to close to nil, that includes diet soda. A glass of soda is, on average 100 calories for 8 ounces (for reference, the average American drinks 4 to 8 glasses of soda per day, accounting for 20 to 40% of their recommended calorie intake for the day). Many people can reduce their weight by simply halving their soda intake or removing soda completely.
Increase your activity in any way possible; stationary bikes, swimming, elipticals, whatever you can do and minimize your back pain. If you choose to lift weights, you want low weight, high rep "toning exercises" to extend the time you're doing it to increase your metabolism. Do this regularly and often, a low impact daily regiment will do wonders for boosting the metabolism.
Be prepared to lose high amounts of weight when you start, followed by near stasis followed by low weight loss for the duration. Use the same scale every time to monitor your weight loss as scales can vary greatly expecially if you're pusing one towards 400 points (a .01 variance per pound will add or subtract 4 pounds at 400 and larger variances between scales are not uncommon).
Be ready to screw it up completely and then get right back on track, because you will. Everyone else does.
Have your calorie load recalculated regularly. As you lose weight, your weight loss will slow because you require fewer and fewer to maintain your lifestyle, meaning you've cut fewer and fewer from your needed load and have some "play" in cutting more.
Be ready for a long haul. "Safe" weight loss is considered to be .5 to 2 pounds per week. Given that, you won't be at 200lbs until sometime near the end of 2013 or the opening of 2014 on average.
To reduce your weight by 200 pounds, half your current body weight, you are going to have to accept a near total change in your lifestyle. You are going to have to do things you dislike (like cooking regularly), things that aren't fun (like a hard-and-fast workout schedule) and things you wouldn't currently do (like toss out leftovers). You have to lose all the excuses for not doing these things (saving energy by not reheating leftovers? That's a cop out) and simply force yourself to do them until you establish a pattern and do them naturally.
I wish you luck, you have a hard and long task ahead of you. Just remember that every pound you lose adds to your life, not just in years but in what you can go out and do that you couldn't before, and every pound shed is less stress on your bad back. I've had a number of friends with weights lower than yours who will not see their 40th birthday because their hearts gave out around 35.
Edit: I got off my duff and checked, you're 25. Lose the weight NOW, it only gets harder to do from here. In a few years your metabolism will begin to slow. In 10 years, it will have droped dramatically and weight loss of the magnitude you want becomes difficult in the extreme without serious assistance fron a planned and strict program, and a failure to alter your lifestyle to account for the lower metabolic rate will begin to pack on even more weight. -
Seems to me if you tell us what it is, we'd know if it was announced.

Quote:I would actually like to see someone pull it off just for the bragging rights. Not me, mind you, but someone slightly crazier than me.Even though the Devs have not said it directly I think it's very likely that Primal Earth characters will be able to go to Praetoria fairly soon. If it doesn't happen in I19 it'll happen eventually, especially since at least some part of the Incarnate content was supposedly related to Praetoria in some form or fashion.
Basically this means that the window of opportunity for Praetorian badgers to surpass Primal badgers probably won't last much past the end of 2010. More power to anyone who wants to try to accomplish that before then. -
Quote:Actually, I didn't sleep much, thanks to a "family thing" completely messing up my normal day/night cycle for the last 2 weeks (I never know if it's time to sleep or time to go out the door or what anymore), so that did help.I guess the only question I have is whether or not you even slept in the last 10 days...
I think if there was a race buried in there somewhere you won it.
Take a breath and enjoy the fruits of your efforts.
That, combined with some inspired good luck (RV AVs anyone? But there's only 4 of us... *bash* There that's all of them. Wait, how did we pull that off again?) and it can be done fairly rapidly comming off the Blue Side. -
I am at 955 with all "old" Red and blue content completed except the Red Day Jobs and Day Job Accolades (10 badges total).
I am missing 5 Vet Rewards, the 1st Anniversary and the associated Gladiator, The two from the CoP, one avaliable Pretorian Defeat badge (Seers, unless Resistance is counting now, in which case it's 2 missing), and 5 alignment badges. That is, naturally, ignoring Bug Hunter and Passport.
So, from my numbers unless I missed a "missing badge" that's 980 possible badges plus 2 if you want to count Passport and Bughunter. -
Quote:I have the Night Widow, Wailer Queen, and Wolf Spider Enforcer on my Originally-a-Hero. They awarded the moment he went full villain.I think he missed those two.
Only heroes can get Nebula Elite Buckshot and Fire Thorn Caster.
Only villains can get Night Widow, Wailer Queen, and Wolf Spider Enforcer.
I might be overlooking some badges...
So, far, I cannot find any "badge numbers" differences between a side swapping Villain and a side swaping Hero except the 1st Anniversary and the 5th Column Gladiator being Hero Only (thanks to Villains not existing at that time). There is also a set of three "exclusive" badges in the three sets of Respec Trial badges (if you have the first one you cannot get either of the other two first ones and so on) AND another VIllain Side Set of 4 "Can Only Get One Of These" Exclusives, but a side Swapped Hero can get one of the four just like a Villain, so neither of those would lead to a numbers descrepency between heroes and villains.
