yes, except sonic blasters do well because of DR and suppression. In no DR/suppression matches.. blasters are pretty useless.
[/ QUOTE ]Aint that the truth!! I fought a tank who sat there and let my fire blaster get of two chains before he even swung back in the arena and his hp barely moved. -
[ QUOTE ]
So probably Wp is better with higt damage primary (as elec or em) and Regen with Spines?
[/ QUOTE ]No wp is better for say the arena teams where you face storm and ff mm's and other stalkers. Regen is better for zones where you'll be facing double teams alot and you might want to stand up and duke it out once in a while regen will do better. -
Well if you plan scrapping it out, your only viable option on a stalker is a regen. Unfortunately down that low your going to need a ton of rech to compensate for lower hp and power than a scrapper. Meaning you best come purpled and lotg, and the new pvp io's, and i hope their not a tank because you won't kill one that low.
My reasoning is simple, since this new i14 pvp there are less viable builds, so everyone is a fotm tank or scrapper. Meaning you'll only see builds that have large hp and large damage thats all pvp is now, hp and damage button mash out.
Come with as many hp and damage you can muster and mash your keyboard until one of you dies. Spines is good for squishies and kiters, but a tank or scrapper not so much.
If your nemesis is a melee, your better served coming ss/fire brute to sirens they are pretty good that low. If they are a squishie then spines/reg will work to sit and fight and spines/wp for quik strikes. -

Why dmg nerf when everyone is res caped anyway it makes me more QQ than EM nerf in i12....
Maybe if we make WoW crash devs would stop RPing elves and would find time for us ^_^?
[/ QUOTE ]Let's take a trip in the way back machine................ ET had like a 2 sec activation and stalkers would flat out crush most builds if they weren't prepared, So a few rp'rs, badge hunters, carebears came to the zone and got wrecked. My Scrapper, blaster, troller, tanker, can kill tons of npc's ,solo any mish in any setting with out any hassle. How is it I'm wtfpwnd so easily by these em/ stalkers waaa waaa waaa
Castle at home reading carebear cry mail
i hear your tears oh mighty carebears i'll nerf ET it's has to be powerful because the datamining says so. Won't fix placate but i'll nerf some stuff :P
Oh plz nerf gods those ice tankers are unkillible by me and my concept toon plz nerf them some. DONE!!! But i won't fix fury :P
Oh my you gave the vill side these horrible veats, and not only does my concept toon get wrecked, but they can even kill blasters, this can't be right? Not only am i going to nerf everyone and everything with horrible DR, but i'm a nerf veats and make them widows:lolz.
Lets see what can i do worse than DR? I'll wreck elustivity so everyone can hit them very easily now, you won't even need any extra tohit when i'm done. Next even though the only toons widows can kill anyway is squishies i'm a give them an added 40% resist to all in pvp in addition to w/e shields they get from their epics. And just incase the widows try and adapt i'm a nerf their damage on top of the buffs i gave their primary targets mwuahahaha mwahahahaha. -
And it's still bugged, three years later i can't see how they justify all the nerfs stalkers have endured but a three year old bug still exist. Pvp'd just today and placate running I'm still getting hit, you actually have to adjust your timing to make it work and not when you might need to use it. FIX PLACATE PLZ

I guess one point I was thinking about and trying make out but failed is that the old PvP characters were very cookie cutter builds for example:
Blaster (Fire/Energy)
Controller(Ill/Storm)
Defender(Emp) or (Rad/Psi for duels)
Scrapper (Spines/Regen)
Tanker (Ice/Energy)
Brute (Energy/WP)
Corruptor (Thermal)
Dom (Mind/Fire)
Mastermind(Thugs/Dark)
Stalkers (EM/Nin)
Well in the new PvP I see FoTM AT's, but the Powersets are different. The ability to chose an AT and pick any powersets you like for PvP is a step in the right direction. I never thought of bringing my Archery/Devices to the PvP zones in the old PvP, but in the new PvP I can actually PvP now. I am not a great PvPer, however I have been doing it for 3 years and I see how things have changed. If this game didnt have PvP I would have quit a long time ago. I get bored of doing the same missions over and over again to lvl a character. The PvP(even though its not the greatest) is the reason I am still here.
[/ QUOTE ]This difference is before indeed it's true certain builds had a disadvantage(they still do now) but a skilled player could still make that build look good.
All a fotm is a build that is performing well, and alot of players gravitate to it looking for success. Peoples say builds like pb's can even pvp now, but before this garbage came out i new of a few good players that would wreck you with their pb's. Hense i used good players, not little eight year old johnny mashing buttons ,killing the whole zone now he's awsome.
I say this jokingly but sadly it's true, i let my little eight year old bro play my blaster in rv before and he scored a few kills, it kinda sickened me. This is the same lil bro i get on for mashing my 360 buttons to hard when he plays and he's killing folk in coh pvp even got me a recipe.
I wish the devs that make these decisions for us actually pvp'd, i can see pve related changes because the pve all the time, they even admitted doing teams and stuff. But play testing pvp changes with a few of your coworkers in internal test, do not equate to pvp knowledge. What is pvp knowledge, is the wish list all the actual pvp'rs took time to make to help balance and make things better, but they ignored it and did this mess. -
+Cough+ +Cough+ lol it was probably me he was talking too about the ss /sj thing and my words were once you get good you don't need sj not both lol with all the suppression you need good travels. I run Cj on my stalkers, and on my regen, i have mine built for hit and run and i can dig in and fight it out if need be. Ask anyone on freedom who fought the short afro stalker today in the train lol he's pretty tuff we were lolfight clubin and i went on a 10 and 0 streak dueling scrappers and tanks in the train would have probably been 11 until party tp'd me into a gank and i was forced to shadow meld/mog and run out of it. Good try though party if you read this lol, they had a cold fender, two scrappers and a blaster in this tight corner near the station, he tp'd me and the fender debuffed and the fun started so they thought but i lived :P
But i have learned to go with out sj in my latest build, and find soulstorm priceless for my style of play. So it's a worthy trade off for me i didn't want to sacrifice too much. I only use sj on my less survivable builds like my /nin has sj.
Also FH is a awsome place to slot panecea's and proc's like numina's, miricle, regenerating flesh, the panecea proc... i six slot all my heals with a panecea set and a proc on the end of the auto actives and the performance is pretty good. Just because your a stalker doesn't mean you have to hit and cut out all the time, and you of all ppl know in this new pvp, with all the nerfs we took your not just going to run over a tank or scrapper your going to have to dig in and fight to get the kill 9 times out of 10.
Everyone scrapper is regen or wp 90% of the time, i personally like killing hard targets. Sure killing a squishie is 100000000 times easier but way less satisfying imo.
All this also depends on your play style so it's very subjective, for instance some stalkers don't even take stamina. They get in and out before any end issues arise, me personally need my stam thats just me so take everything with a grain of salt.
As far as moves with enough rech you only really need about 4 consistant attacks for a good chain, by the time you cycle one is always up. That's why i suggested that LR is a non mandatory. I run the second attack, TS, AS, Soulstorm, The first ranged attack from the patron and in the zones the vet flurry attack (sorry Ive been drinking my memory is killing me atm lol)
Now if you can't get AS off alot, you may need another attack, but i can get it off pretty good over the years. I'm at the point now alot of times i beat ppl to their landing spot during their jumps most ppl's path is very predictable.
But as i said this is subjective, just to use as a reference and maybe help you along the way gl -

Guess what? I never played on test before I13. Not once. Hell, I only started PvPing in the month or so leading up to I13. Even I know a turd when I see one. You can polish up I13 PvP and praise it all you like - a shiny turd is still a turd.
[/ QUOTE ]
this statemnet right here explains alot. you have no idea what it was like to PvP before the end of i12 therefore you really have no base to assume your position. the only thing i can gather from your posts is you io'd out a toon for i12 and by the time you got it done PvP changed. guess what? deal with it and adapt. make the changes that need to be made to your toons. this is the PvP we have now. enough whinning about pre i13 PvP. if you don't like it don't play it.
[/ QUOTE ]I pvpd for almost 2 years before i13 everyday between 6-8 hours or better a day (depending on irl schedule) And i agree with mac's assessment it doesnt take that long to see if somethings bad. If i test drove a Benz CL 600 for 15 min, it won't take me hours to see that the hundai elantra 600 doesn't stack up and the benz is better.
And this is coming from someone who did both arena and zones i was a long time member of Freaks vill ladder team, and to be honest i was pretty viable then and liked my skill lvl. But now with this new crap, and after i adapted I'm off the charts now.. i have right now one of the strongest OP'd toons i ever created i rarely die, it's really sick. I took all the flaws and used them to my favor, but in saying this i would gladly trade it in to have i12 back where skill came in to play not button mashing.
Alot of kills are from weakness in the new system, like i see a whole lot of suppression kills, where someone gets stuck doing a action and you catch them wrong. Heal decay kills, just keep mashing buttons until their heal is meaningless and they can't run because their suppressed. The silly mez resist, catch someone with a long animating hold and do your dirt. It's so many flaws for the exploitation and it's not fun. I only pvp now because it's an amusing social scene listen to the stuff that's said is very priceless at times.
But like someone said just make a zone with the old rules and or arena options and make everyone happy, is the only real sollution. -
First and foremost in zone pvp i12 you actually had alot of builds competing thats a misconception. The difference is this new pvp is lame, why heal decay, mez resist, DR, suppression. It's counterproductive to give such good io's but yet make someone with 100k worth of so's perform as good as a fully io'd toon.
No those who were good before are just as good or better now, that's also a misconception, but the pvp leagues which were thriving on test are now dead, alot of our friends quit, and it's no new insurgence of pvp'rs to come into the fold which was supposed to be the intent of all this mess. To be honest we lost way more ppl than we gained, and not even a good crop, it's just a bunch of cannon fodder now.
Support at's that don't support, mez and hold dominate AT's that can't really hold better than anyone eles, Npc's that's more terrifying than any io'd toon you or anyone can make. They don't like the new pvp so they follow the old rules, we are too weak i14 toons fighting i12 npc's haha wtf?.
And really if you want to know the truth, my kill to death ratio is absurd right now i mean i go hours and might get cought near a base and droned once or twice, but killed not so much. But it's not the same, hopefully we get some changes. -
[ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately the Devs themselves are happy with PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]And that's all that matters :P as long as they are happy who cares about the customers? Hell they don't even need us, we can all leave and they'll still be happy and really if we all quit the zones will probably be about the same as now :P. -

isnt AS really weak now or do stalkers not get the pvp resist bonus because theyre melee?
heroes had /dev blasters already, much better stalkers than stalkers imo.
i remember AS chains in warburg many issues ago, it was so funny before the 1 shot code got put in.
[/ QUOTE ]
quite the opposite...as it stands right now...AS is the only "partial" unresisted dmg in the game. So that 500 Dmg from the crit will always be 500 no matter what. Thats why Double AS is so good now. And as for Hereos getting Stalkers....this could turn into a nightmare for zone pvpers.....everyone will be on a stalker...and no body will be able to see anybody. So yea...
[/ QUOTE ]Yes double AS is good, but it's a shame that they actually make you have to double team someone to be effective on a scrapper or tank.Solo against them on a stalker is pointless now, your damage is so neutered only good squishie killers. -
[ QUOTE ]
they can acknowledge it, but they still wont change it.. the changes were needed for future features to the game, many probably under construction right now. Popular or not, it's done.
[/ QUOTE ]Hi Castle :P it's about time we got a dev response to something geez...
Edit: First after a red name too O.o that has to be a dev or someone that never played i12 or if they did they didn't understand it or got pwned often by vets, to respond like that the two pvp systems just don't compare and anyone that doesn't fall under what i just implied would already know that. -
Mike Tyson versus Billy the Kid, mike will lose this fight 9/10 times but if some how mike gets into melee and lands a KO blow before Billy gets off his nuke than mike will win. Maybe they need to up melee damage OR TAKE THAT STUPID RESIST OFF SQUISHIES.
Sorry some of the new changes get me all emotional, but against a good kiter all you can do is run you won't win that battle. When you taunt them they'll just keep kiting until it wears off, and just wittle away at you. You have to think about it, most range fighters probably have more resist than you do, some have multiple heals and hybernoob.
I just don't see how that was a good idea either? making all squishies tank mages. But in response to you question, i find that you just have to hope the ranged attacker isn't experienced or else it's almost impossible to win that fight with this new pvp. In i12 a good melee could atleast give them some trouble but now not so much. -
[ QUOTE ]
pointless post is pointless
[/ QUOTE ]Not really, sometimes when waging war quantity is just as important as quality. Meaning you can't get more quality then the post above this that outlines our dislikes 100% and we all /signed on it but i bet castle and the gods ignored it. So maybe the more of these threads that spring and clutter the boards providing 08 doesn't intervene they will be forced to eventually at least acknowledge this problem. -
Every few days someone begs for i12 back, they know this but refuse to acknowledge it, let alone make any changes. They are stubborn and don't seem to care what's best to make ppl happy, it's like they are going to resign and go work for CO or DCO and want to herd us all there.

Is there a way to get the DR formula so I can adjust the totals that I get with Mid's?
[/ QUOTE ]No! No! No! i have the exact formula, First we add one part sux, then two parts pvp'rs tears, then we add three parts pvp'r cancels subscriptions. Let it simmer in a pot for say two or three issues, add the occasional lie about success, stir add five part nerf to everything even io's blend it until it reaches liquid form and let sit till cool. Only thing is, it never gets cool, just drink it or quit joo.
If you drink the whole formula, i heard all your pvp friends will quit and it turns pvp into a pumpkin, i also heard it makes you think it plays different than pve, but i can't believe that rumor the devs pvp alot so they wouldn't be so silly as to do something like that :P -
No, i'll tell you the funny when i run melee toons i'll duel from time to time and i just happened to be on my wp/ss tank dueling a brute. A stalker and a corr interrupted my duel (not knowing i had passive heavy around the corner) i activated it, he made them earl with that ridiculously huge hold. And i took my time and killed them both as i talked trash and i got a io off one of them, told the brute, since now they'll be mad and will keep coming, lets go to the arena, so we warped to pd to finish haha..The end
But dueling is always at your own risk, on my stalkers i'll usually kill spectators i'm just not into ks'n fight klubers. -
Also regarding /dev, all stalkers and brutes don't have perception basically the ones that's going to put up the most fight like say regen can't see you. Also seeing someone setting up to AS you is a huge bonus, alot of stalkers are new so they they go balls to the wall and try to AS you you in the openas soon as they see you.
Within the time it takes them to set up you can't toss caltrops down, turn and spike them before they recover. Most will be suprised by the sudden damage and attempt to flee, and that's when you have the advantage.
Of course /em is better, but it's so over done, as far as primaries psy/sonic imo are the best atm -
I have been fighting that fight for a while myself, everything you said we cried to them about in i13 closed beta. I 100% agree with you well 99% the 1% is because yes even hp is dr'd.
YES HP IS DR'D, i found this out when i rolled a wp and went to capp his hp through io's, and sure enough it drops when i enter pvp zones.
I hope they do read it, as the majority of us feel this way, and have expressed it time and time again. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've never been much on pvp, but from time to time I'll have some fun therer. Stopped by sirens call last night and it was a ghost town! is pvp really that dead?
[/ QUOTE ]Pretty much, these so called changes that were made to improve on this only served to diminish it even further, hense DR only diminished the numbers of pvp'rs successfully. And what's sad is a few ppl cry about them farming ae and they hopped on it with in a week. We all cry for months on end about this horrible pvp changes and we don't even get a response. -
[ QUOTE ]
But at least the devs are happy, right? Who cares what the actual customers think?
[/ QUOTE ]This about sums it up, and to me it doesn't make sense. When we were all in I13 beta, way before any of this stuff took place i can't remember anyone that liked the changes that were their. So a consumer friendly entity would have adjusted their tactics, knowing full well if they got such negative feedback from the sample of people their if it releases it will surely fail.
So they ignore us, drop it anyway and guess what? more ppl cried about it. The negative feed back was one of the largest threads on the forum, versus the possitive feedback which was amung the shortest. Months and month later we are still crying foul and the devs refuse to admit the mistake and make claims of success.
Even lost revenue, due to ppl quitting doesn't budge them, and they can't say it was no loses i personally know of 8 ppl off my villain ladder team that quit. And they all had multiple accounts they ran. We even gave ideas to save face like make i13/14 arena options or make i12 an arena option. That way everyone wins, they win they get to keep their frankenpvp, we the player wins we can have more fun in pvp than now.
You just can't have pve and pvp so different and expect it to work, even the npc's in zone don't like dr and the new changes that's why they follow the old rules. -
"I'm sure there are other zones you can go to and farm"
"Well you know Blacksoul if your going to come to the pvp zone and use phase you might as well not even come"
"I'm just trying to watch this duel, damn i hate stalkers"
"If that's how you get kills than more power to you"
"I bet your melee toon can't beat my rad defender in the arena with dr off"
"Widows are op'd"
"Hoho it's not about the skills, or the IO's, or even the toons, it's about the phase" -
I was fooling around in the zone last night, with some buddies and i figured out what gets me the most. I believe i can live with most of the new crap but mez resist is so irritating, almost unbearable a stalker with a mag 3 hold and run up to a wp tank and hold them through SoW, no stacking needed, just run up use soul storm, you spin with your cape folded.
Makes doms kinda useless, why be a dom when i can get the same result with a rupter or a stalker? The old way of needing to stack mez to score a hold actually made sense. I have 10 mez protection so you need to stack past my protection to hold me, simple yet good. And the good thing was if held all wasnt lost you could take a bf or a series of bf's to overcome the hold. Now i don't know how we got here this is not good imo.
The only thing that needed changing was make it so a toon like say a emp can't render a dom or troller useless, i would have made cm give like say a flat rate of 10-15 protection per cast one casting per customer, problem solved. -
