Sorry to double post but a few thoughts that probably wouldn't have fit there -
Totals for that build without Alpha:
Defense-
Smash 66.1 (this seems off to me but as I said, I hate MIDs)
Leth 54.8
Fire 49
Cold 49
Ener 48.8
NegE 38.8
Psi 21
Recharge - 56 prior to Hasten
End Mod - 3.65 /sec
End Use - 1.48 /sec prior to Conserve
Now, totals with Agility Core Paragon:
Defense-
Smash 69.7
Leth 58.4
Fire 52.9
Cold 52.9
Ener 53
NegE 42
Psi 22.7
Recharge - 56 prior to Hasten
End Mod - 3.77 /sec
End Use - 1.48 /sec prior to Conserve
Some will say using Energy Drain often is bad, I say that's malarky. It adds defense and gives you endurance, while also draining your foes and possibly making it *impossible* for them to attack, for lack of endurance. Yes, endurance drain is damage mitigation - my elec armor tank uses this on purpose to shut down entire groups. You probably wouldn't match his one-and-done ability to fully drain foes in one use but it can still help.
Besides, this is Titan. For all the effort I put into being ONE with it's burst damage nature, I still have downtime, and any time between Momentum can and should be used for healing and end draining - this is what I do with my Titan Regen Brute and she's just pure death, with more clicks than EnArmor. Going off of my Ice Armour Tanks, I can also say that jumping into a big group and hitting the end drain to both drain them AND give you defense is a pretty wickedly fun way to go. If the fight lasts long enough - with my tanks they genereally do but with a Scrap, who knows - you can hit them a second time with the Drain and your foes should now have zero End. At which point they're sitting ducks.
I would post defense totals with the end drain but that's too much - I've hopefully said enough, locking and loading this build in MIDs will say much, much, more. -
Riius, I got nothing but respect for you man, but that build made me cringe more than a little... Here's what I came up with in MIDs - I said I hate it but if it helps you out then it's worth it. I tried to preserve some of what you had because, hey, it's your toon and I really wouldn't want everyone to be just like me - ever. So, my 2 cents:

Seriously, this news is so excellent that it's made TWO of my days - one is today of course, and the other is the 18th of last month when I had a mildly depressing birthday. This news is so great that it went back in time and made my birthday a little happier in memory, at least.
I have this image in my head of Doc Brown with a birthday cake in one hand and a "sorry I'm late for your birthday so I came here from the future for it" card in the other!

Well, I was rather hoping Eagle Claw would be in if Martial Arts ever came to Blasters but it was something I knew would be a longshot. So, while I am a bit dissapointed that my favorite Martial Arts attack isn't in...
I am still very, very excited to see this. Color me stoked - Pistols and Martial Arts together AT LAST, it feels like it's been a long time coming. Really happy to know the wait will be over soon - not having Eagle Claw in there doesn't change that one bit!
So, thanks to Paragon Studios, I can cross one major wish off my list - one I have wanted since I signed on in '04.
Thanks guys, you rock!
~Raven
PS Edit - By the way this cannot hit either beta or live soon enough. I am seriously pumped by this announcement - my knee is bouncing like crazy and it has nothing to do with the nuclear strength coffee I drink of a morning and everything to do with this announcement! <grin> -
Dink, I have a question for you, and I hope you see this request amidst this... um. "Thread."
Any chance that the nail-mohawk could be used with Helmets / Half-Helmets? I would love to combine that nail-hawk with the HiTech Helmet, and maybe the hockey mask, too.
T'would be one of those cases of clipping the item on purpose - and looking at the nails as they are in this preview they may not be long enough. I know I'm asking to put more work on your plate - believe me if I could help I WOULD in a heartbeat - so I understand if this idea of mine doesn't see the light of, um, digital day.
But, it would be cool to have the option of helmet nail mohawks as well as skull nail mohawks. <grin> Either way, thanks for another stellar set of costume pieces - keep on rocking!
~Raven -
Quote:Thanks for saying what I was GOING to say, but in a shorter format. You know, just because every costume set isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean you need to hate on it and say it's rubbish. I thought the animal pack was rubbish, I just avoided the thread and never bought the pack. Easy enough. People want this. I want this. You're just coming in to be antagonistic as far as I can tell. You've yet to say anything constructive other than "ugh, I hate this set" or "this doesn't go with any x concept!"
Just to add to this, and to Elf Snipers thoughts-
It takes the kind of people I'd rather not associate with (aka the close-minded kind) to come into a thread that is about something they have made VERY CLEAR they don't like and endlessly argue about how they are right about this pack being wrong, or how this pack is a slap in the face from the devs, or - HEY - let's leave feedback that has little to nothing to do with this flavor of Post Apoc'. (Clean items? REALLY? <facepalm>)
I don't post much on the forums, or leave as much feedback for betas anymore, because I hate swimming through the seas of people endlessly passing the same opinions, over and over again, on other people's opinions.
Before I get pointed at as a hypocrite, unlike them I'm not trying to be right - I'm asking that if people don't like something in this thread or any other, try to leave a short version of "I don't like this and here's why" - and then LEAVE. (Btw, that second part - leave reasons why you don't like something - is REALLY important and it's not being done.)
In the end, that's what the people who are liking this pack are doing - so it's only fair that the people who don't like it do the same. -
Dink, you had me at chainsaw!
Hope you can work that magic, and shrink it down for others - either way you just sold this bundle for me. <grin>
~Raven -
Well, good news is I would love to be there for this since I wanted to run some Magi farms last night but wasn't enough interest.
Bad news is, I'm having dinner with my mom for my birthday last week in half an hour.
So, I *hope* I can be there, but good luck if I don't make it!
~Raven -
Quote:Sadly, this disgraceful tactic appears to have recently gained traction with the devs. Ironically, I can't fully voice my disapproval of such people without becoming one of them... <sigh>*****, complain, argue, throw a fit, and accuse the devs of this change being a slap in the face.
Quote:I'm not sitting though video. Text is the medium of the future.
People can call me old-fashioned all they want - I can handle that, because I AM. -
I found that the name Thing Tank is available, and reserved it, using the Think Tank head and a robotic costume.
But I can't for the life of me find any interest in using it - I intended it as a Bio SS Tank but found a better idea for a Bio Tank. If anyone wants it, I'll release the name back into the wild.
EDIT Oh hey, good, I can edit this after a month rather than double post, whew.
Wanted to say I found a name for a water blast toon that I'm not interested in - HeineKin.
Rolled him as a Kin Water Defender but the novelty wore off fast. Hope some one else finds it of interest, I did delete the alt so it is available. -
Quote:How odd. That seems so ridiculous, now. I had no idea myself - back then I had a couple Tank friends but I was a Blaster at the time.As a purely historical note, Presence was virtually required for tankers prior to Issue 3 - Taunt was single target back then.
Well, thanks for the history pointer though. -
Quote:Yeah, I think theres some unwritten rule where one is not allowed to quote themselves in their own signature. This had me lol'ing for real at the mental image (the mental image which may have involved a little rabid, spittle-spraying roar of rage).
But, I feel that sentence so perfectly captures the Scrapper Mentality, I'm sorely tempted to break that rule.
By the way, I wrote it with a specific alt of mine in mind, a Broadsword Shield scrap' werewolf, using confront on said truck... yeah. Been there, done that, had the medi-port EMS team shaking their heads at me. <grin> Good times. -
Quote:Short answer:Sorry if some of this is unclear, I wrote fast.
Power pools being revised
Fifth Power to all pools without one
'Bad' pool powers reworked
Fighting:
Boxing: 15% DMG increase, Stun Chance mag 3 at 35% if Kick owned
Kick: 40% KD chance if Boxing owned
Tough/Weave not changed
New Power:
Cross Punch: cone melee, 15% DMG increase with recov buff if Boxing owned, 15% damage with recov bu, rech/acc buff if kick owned
"Fighting will be a Mini Street Justice"
Cool.
Only slightly less short answer:
Sounds pretty fun. Already looking forward to test driving it on someone's face.
As an aside, I've always wondered what the percent of characters rolled over the life-time of CoH have used Presence - I'd be shocked if it wasn't less than a single percent...
Quote:Challenge: Removed, turned into Pacify, self-placate. No hide no crit, pure self aggro dump. "Oh PANCAKE Button" (Zwill: Maybe Scrappers will want. *SNERK*)
I mean - I'd bet money the Grim Reaper could drive a flaming tractor trailer loaded with nitro-glycerin over a cobblestone road at most scrappers and they'd just shout CHALLENGE ACCEPTED at it.
They MIGHT live long enough to get to the second syllable of that... I know I do often enough. <whistles innocently>
Quote:Provoke: No Change
Intimidate: End cost reduced, increased to Mag3, 30% chance for Mag4
Invoke Panic: Acc increased, reduced end cost, radius up to 20ft, bump up to Mag3
New Power:
Unrelenting: +DMG, +Rech, +Recovery, Self HoT, Self-Resurrect if in defeated state. Clarion animation.
(Note: Long Help says that Unrelenting grants a buff called "Crash Protection")
Otherwise, eh, I'll try it. Sounds interesting. Could be nice to play Invuln without looking over my shoulder for the Grim Reaper. He and I drink together often enough as it is.
Quote:New "Other Ranged Blast Set Change": NO CRASH NUKES! Normalized recharge:damage ratio for all 'crash' Tier 9 blast powers. "Slight decrease on max potential damage, but good amount of consistent damage increase. No more chance-for-damage, all nukes are now a consistent number. 50% faster recharge for PBAoE nukes, 75% faster recharge for Targeted AoE Nukes."
>snippity snip snip<
(Yes, I remember / lived through that, I guess compared to some I could be considered old - NOW GET OFF MAH LAWN!)
Quote:Synapse: We're not done yet. There's way more to I24 than just pools and blasters/blast sets.
Quote:DUAL PISTOLS:
'Pistols' power getting secondary effects
Cast time reduced on Exec Shot, Empty Clips, Bullet Rain, all three down to 1.67s cast time
Quote:SPINES:
Barb Swipe will be an under-one-second attack power
Lunge is having its everything increased
Freespec will be available.
Quote:QUESTIONS THAT I CARED ABOUT
What about other crashes? Synapse says they need to be addressed too, but this change is made for offensive crashes
Base changes?
"No, because the Base system is like trying to play Jenga; one wrong removal and the whole system breaks." -Zwill
"It's more like playing Jenga on fire." -Synapse
When does I24 drop? "Before 25, but definitely after 23." -Zwill
Coloring Power Pools? "We can't talk about it." -Synapse
Quote:>snip<
Issue 24 secret codename is "Issue Fix All The Things"
Synapse: So instead of posting patch notes for I24 we're going to ship you a book.
Anyways, good stuff. Looking forward to the announcement of the announcement of i24. *

* I don't have anything against Golden Girl, but I WOULD have put a winking emoticon there if not for her. <sigh> -
Really, really, NOT sure if serious... a Liger pet...? Wow, guess the joke is really on us now, huh.
For me, this is the moment CoH manages to jump the shark and nuke the fridge all in one fell swoop - to go from pretty respectable, to utterly ridiculous.
EDIT: Forget having a CoH wish list in my sig'... this liger just ate up a whole lot of my respect for the game, and when it's available to me again in 12 to 24 hours, I won't be wantin' it back. So no real point in asking for anything from PS if this is what they feel is appropriate for this game.
EDIT2: You know, forget I said anything. Not like it really matters if Ligers are somehow not a waste of time and manpower. -
Quote:Oh, I cut her slack for those very reasons. That doesn't stop it annoying me though.I hear a lot of people complain about Glacia and Infernia talking in that TF and it being annoying. Does anyone realize, though, that they've been stranded on an alien planet, in the middle of very people that massacred our Earth, among a very small group of humans who were more than likely being quickly killed or captured, and were forced to live on the run for about five years?
I'd be a bit chatty, too, if I were suddenly rescued and brought back to a safe place called home.
I just wasn't sure if that was her being so thankful to be talking to Primals again other than Glacia, or if that was just normal for her. Especially given that, Glacia doesn't say much in that TF mission, and ALSO says that she won't blather on because she's sure Infernia already HAS. Hence my concern when I went to talk to her as a contact, and my following relief at her having calmed down.
Also, it should be noted I am pretty talkative myself - I tell jokes at my own expense about this, and also make no excuse for it. If Infernia had been like me? I wouldn't have been too annoyed - my hypocrisy only goes so far... -
Quote:I know I'm repeating a sentiment, but only in part - same price as we par for ATs already.I think you underestimate our desire to expand the game in more creative ways.
Counter question:
Let's say, hypothetically, we introduced a new AT, but because of the amount of time and cost it would take to develop it, we had no choice but to offer it in the Paragon Market (a possible scenario).
Based on our established precedents, what do you feel would be a fair price, in Paragon Points?
I'm interested in your responses.
THAT said? IF we got new ATs, such as the Melee Support and Ranged / Armor ones I find myself not alone in desiring, I could see another 50% added to that price - at most. Anymore than that and I'd start to lump it into all the other stuff too expensive to buy no matter how much I want it.
EDIT: I'm going to throw two more ideas into the mix here.
First: new tech recently revealed could allow us to play as other characters in the game with their powers usable, as a different form, much like the black panther (pardon me, but I hate that power, the animation's just not feline in any way shape or form) we will be getting at some point that is or was on beta.
Now let's extend this a bit further... I'd kill to be able to have the Tsoo Sorceror outfits - male & female both - available as costume powers but what about other villians like these getting full on AT treatment, even if not truly full-blown. IE, like the panther power - could we see that being looked into if not already, as something purchasable on the Market? That might just fill several whishes made in this thread already.
Secondly: What about, rather than a new AT, an ability to purchase a limited amount of account bound tokens unlocking a third powerset for any character of you're choice, irreversible once made, that replaces the Epic / Patron pools but is available much sooner in character development, say, as an example, level 24 onwards?
Examples? Sure.
Blaster - Dual Pistols / Energy / Martial Arts. Maelstrom.
Tank - Elec Armour / Axe / Storm. The tank of my dreams.
Stalker - Claws / Ninjitsu / Mind Control. Fortunatas eat your hearts out.
You do THAT? And you wipe away any need for more Archetypes to be added to the game in one, fell, swoop.
And on that potential bombshell, I'll leave ye.
~Raven -
Well, seems as good a place as any to say this...
Bravo to the writers and devs behind WWD, it ended in such a spectacular way...
Favorite Moments included, in no particular order:
Killing Tanks with my Titan Sword... Seriously, I killed one with Rend Armor and just stopped in amazement. All I could think was - I just totally killed a tank with a Big Frakoff Sword. EPIC! I laughed so hard... and then proceeded to waste every tank I could. Watching the Street Justice Brute with me curb stomp a tank to death with Shin Breaker was a close second. And people tell me there were Malta there? Huh? <shrugs> Too much fun killing tanks with STYLE to notice the likes of them. Think the exploding tanks got 'em...
Stepping out of the door onto the back of the ship, and turning to my left. Need I say more? I will... the only thought I had, in my stunned amaxement, was: Ok, that's new... Which, was followed 5 minuted later by two other thoughts. First, BEST MAP EVER! (Yes, I was proven wrong shortly thereafter.) Second thought: I am *never* dissing steam jump ever again... my Titan Regen Brute has zero flight ability other than the Steam and Rocket jump powers. I knew Rocket just wasn't gonna cut it this time...
In the leadup to the attack on Wade's Secret Space Island Hideout*, when Infernia (whom I must say, her chatter in the LG TF had me dreading her as a contact... VERY glad she's settled down... kinda surprised she hangs out near the Watcher though, never figured him as the patient listener type) told me that we were going to Warburg so we could nuke Wade before he nuked US? Well, that's one of five times in my life I've ever been told something that had me grinning ear to ear like a loon with eyes like you only see in anime. The other four were caused by my wife, and I've probably already said too much, hmm. ANYWAYS - moving on - I'll assume if I get nukes from Warburg ever again, it's happening prior to WWD 7, as we cleaned 'em out, and I could NOT be happier for that twist!
Also? Darrin Wade's Secret Space Island Hideout. Enough said. Well, but that's just not my style... must say, that has to be the first map since the previously mentioned USS Barry mission to ever outrank and unseat the Shadow Shard as my all-time favorite maps. To be fair, the new DA *did* come close. The red Murder Walls? Yeah... nice touch, almost enough but not quite. (New top 4 fave maps: Darrin Wade's Secret Space Island Hide-away, the Navy ships floating in mid air map, Storm Palace, and new DA. 5th place.. dunno).
Lastly, but certainly, not least. When Dakota Berg's epilogue came on, the first part got me grinning for Mr. Asbestos Suit. Pardoned? Awesome! THEN ... the SECOND part comes on. The part about his little 'celebration'
... and I barked a laugh SO LOUD, I woke up my upstairs neighbors at 2 am my time.
In closing, again, bravo, many kudos, amazing work. I'm only hoping I don't get a notice about noise at night... Speakin' of noise, I'll sign out shall I? Hehe...
~Raven, who didn't like Infernia movin' in on his turf, and is glad to see she's bowed to a master... <grins and laughs>
****Had Darrin Wade done the Dr Evil pinky-to-his-mouth-thing and welcomed us to his Secret Space Island Hideout, I would NOT have been surprised, but my eyes probably would've done a full 360 rotation in rolling at it...
Oh and Zwillinger? If I do NOT see a reply saying CHALLENGE ACCEPTED and an attached picture of Wade / Rularuu doing that exact gesture, with the earth in the background, I am DEDUCTING POINTS, and I will pay off some space ninja monkey pirates to steal a hat. You have been warned.... -
Ok, here's my 2 inf for the above build:
Powers:
I find that, on Titan alts, I have a much smoother attack chain and damage burst if I only have 5 attacks, on my Tanks I go with Defensive Sweep, Crushing Blow, Rend Armor, Whirling Smash, and Arc of Destruction. I use kick for those awful times when I'm exemp'd low enough that I have to use it to fill in.
Also, I'd drop Oppresive Gloom, I find the fear aura is superior, and it stacks far better with all the Dark Control and Stalkers now running around. On my DA TW, I'll be going Vigilante - that way, I can stack Fear twice when solo with the alignment power.
Slotting:
You probably won't really need the Impervium Armour +psi resists, I feel the psi resist from Dark Armour tends to be enough as is. In Dark Regen, a Theft of Essence chance for +end proc helps a great deal, it has a chance to execute per enemy in range, I've been able to recover endurance to full more than once this way.
My opinion of Defensive Sweep is that slotting it for +damage is kind of a waste, I've found from others that what I prefer to do is slot in a +acc, and as many damage procs as I can stand. Eradication, Armageddon, etc, it can get crazy that way. I will, when I get the chance, be putting a Fury o/t Gladiator -res proc in DefSweep asap, too.
Also, having the Tank ATO proc in Rend Armor, I cannot praise enough. Debuffing their resist and buffing my own all at once is just too sexy to pass up, since it auto-executes due to Rend's 16s base recharge. I threw the other 5 into Crushing Blow, with an Achilles -res proc as well.
Incarnate:
...Not sure why you're going with Ageless Destiny? Then again, Clarion, Barrier, and Rebirth are kind of redundant, but that can be a good thing, too. Spectral Interface can help, it locks some people in place but then again so does the fear aura. My DA TW tank will be going with either Diagmagnetic or the -damage interface. Cardiac and Void are excellent choices for your DA TW Tank.
Anyways, my 2 inf, and of course, your mileage may vary. Good luck with that tank.

Zwill's got an Announcement up: "Unplanned Downtime". Posted 7 minutes ago. Took 'em a while to decide to tell us they'd noticed, but then it IS after hours.

Quote:I doubt they'd fix Staff's sfx twice, but then again, at this point I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, they have yet to tweak the Titan Melee sfx ONCE. You know, the almost all whooshing and almost no smashing sfx?Don't be silly. They still need to re-record the sound effects yet again, to fix the ones that everyone hates that they recorded to please the people who complained about the sound effects being too quiet.
My vote is for "wet fish hitting burlap sack... full of glass".
Either way, I'm sure there's going to be some excuse or other for having dissapointed people, because that's alway's SO much easier than swinging for the fences each time at bat. Not saying they don't try to go above and beyond, but seems to me they're passing up one HUGE opportunity. -
So I know who to get a few hairs from: who's idea was it to have a 2xp weekend with two highly-demanded powersets NOT being able to attend? I wouldn't want to make an effigy voodoo doll for the wrong person. That would be almost as cruel as whomever thought it would be fun to have Staff and/or Beast come out after the upcoming 2xp weekend.
-
Hey Valor, there is an alternative channel for MSR and all things Rikti Warzone related: Vanguard Operations. Their MotD keeps track of the MSRs, and little else.
-
Ukase, Noy, if either of you think you could find yourselves short on 50's for an MSR, try to hit me up with a tell or something ahead o' time and I'll voluntell one of my more recently minted incarnates to lead a team or help out, etc.
I've got two scraps and a blaster that are still 50 or 51, and around a half dozen various AT alts at 42 or 38, waiting to make the jump to 50. Whether I bring a level 50, or not, doesn't matter to me enough to put the raid in danger by wantin' exp.
Just give me a heads up if I'm on, please.
