Quote:If the proc buffs or debuffs an attribute, it will show up in the attribute monitor.I suppose you can think of FE adding a 100% Fire Proc to each attack now(and procs never show in attributes)
FE doesn't show up because it doesn't change the damage bonus anymore. -
Quote:No, an acronym is an initialism. It has to be formed from leading letters, as SCUBA is. If it's not formed from the initial letters of the words in a longer phrase, it is not an initialism, and therefore is not an acronym.
No. To be an acronym, it would have to be a short form of a three-word phrase, where the THREE words started with M, O, and B respectively.
Otherwise, it's an abbreviation but not an acronym.
"Fridge" is not an acronym. It's an abbreviation which is pronounced as a word, but it's not an acronym. The distinction between acronym and initialism is interesting because both are formed in the same way, only the pronunciation differs.

HEY! No sidetracking our argument over the proper use and/or definition of one or more words with your argument over the proper use and/or definition of one or more words! -
Quote:I know that not every facet of a language is found in a standard dictionary. I know that it comes from MUDs/Early MMOs (I played EQ). But what you need to understand is, you can't force everyone to use terms in game lingo ONLY in the meaning of the game lingo when they have other, more longstanding meanings. ESPECIALLY in an MMO which gathers many new to MMOs as this one does.Deal with the fact that not every facet of the language is found in a standard dictionary. Read some of the replies above; you can see the term mob is used by a lot of folks to refer to a single creature. It does come from MUDs, and was used a lot by the EQ developers (arguably the first successful 3D MUD).
The list of definitions I posted was not intended to be all inclusive - just showing some of the more common ones. My apologies if I gave off a sense of "all inclusive" in listing those definitions.
Actually, the original issue is gameboy objecting to the use of REGULAR words in game, not someone objecting to the use of game slang in game (mob [a group] vs. [mob for mobile object] in this specific case).Quote:I don't think it makes any sense to play a game and object to people using "gamer" terms. We're playing a game; we are by definition gamers. We refer to a patrol as a "pat" and to an NPC we can attack as a "mob" because short names let us communicate quickly in combat. -
Only for level 50's. Random rolls are at your level or max level, whichever is lower.

www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Defense
Basic rundown on how defense vs. an attack works.
Each attack has one or more attack types - if you view the detailed info, it shows them in the power details in the first two section of the power.
Example :
Shadowmaul is Melee/Smashing/Negative Energy.
Fireball is AoE/Fire
The attack will check against the highest applicable defense value - Either Melee OR Smashing, OR Negative Energy in the case of Shadowmaul, or AoE OR fire in the case of Fireball.
In your case, S/L/F/C/E/N/P doesn't really matter, because on those your Positional (Melee, Ranged, AoE) defense will always be higher than any of your typed defenses. I'm guessing the guy who was surprised didn't realize Shields was Positional defense.
The only time type will matter is the few, very few, attacks only a single attack type. Mind Control powers are merely "Psychic", Spectral Terror is just "Negative Energy". -
Quote:As I play a tank sometimes, it's easy to get nervous about your team and want to be as careful as possible. A lot of deaths (team or personal) in the pre-20 levels can make folks overly cautious.
Hearding like that, what I call corner pulling (as opposed to fighting the mobs in place or pulling them forward), works when you need to be very careful. If you have a pug and you want to see how they perform, when you've got some folks with lag, when you don't have as much control as you'd like, if spawns are close together and might aggro easily, those are times when it's reasonable to corner pull stuff away from its spawn point.
Aside:
MOB = mobile. That's one dude.
Spawn or group = lots of mobs all together. Some folks are calling a spawn a "mob" like it means a mob of people. Just kinda grates my mental nerves a bit.An abbreviation might be a perfectly normal English construct, but MOB as an abbreviation is not normal English. It is either game or military (IIRC. andprobably why it's game) terminology.Quote:It's still incorrect to refer to a group of enemies as a mob. Call them spawns or groups please. And mob is an abbreviation, a perfectly normal English construct.
In perfectly "normal" English, guess what, "mob" is a WORD! Meaning :
- a disorderly crowd of people
- syndicate: a loose affiliation of gangsters in charge of organized criminal activities
- throng: press tightly together or cram; "The crowd packed the auditorium"
- gang: an association of criminals; "police tried to break up the gang"; "a pack of thieves"
So, deal with the fact it has meaning(s) other than those you care for which are still perfectly applicable in game. -

Right now they are 100K that comes and goes as they do, but after i19 it will be just 100k to the first SG each one joins, none going away if they leave.

Of course, if you have the main combat stats window up (the one from the powers window) you can also just right click the stat you want monitored and choose "Monitor". Cap of either 8 or ten stats at a time, though.

Two more bits of advice.
1) Don't trust the rabbit - just on general principal. Unless you happen to have some spare Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch.
2) It is possible to remove (but not reuse) enhancements without placing another enhancement over it. You click and drag it to the garbage can in the lower corner on the enhancement management screen. Mostly useful when you are swapping out a Set IO for one identical but for level, and don't want to resepc. -
Last I checked, that was the eta out of the meet n greet - dev digest / Castle posted in the thread (his post was basically "calm down, still hours to go" but later they start talking tidbits.

Also www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Timeline should list the Issue updates.
Also note that Issue 19, with some changes including moving all four fitness powers from power pool to inherent (www.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Issue_19) is due out the 16th. -

It was purposely made so the settings were per-character only, by player request. So people could have their "i'm not in a people mood" characters, but not have to worry about resetting on their next character.
But yes, they used to carry over, before the global chat system revamp.
If you worry about it, just start making a macro :
/macro hide hide_all
or if you look up slash commands and their list you can make it hide your just from Global Friends and Global Channels. -

Quote:Guess what - animate away the issues with building new UI/background coding to enable their ability to just need to tweak each power, and they will pay you to play City of Heroes, most likely. Why would I buy a booster pack with auras when I cant get rid of the crappy FX of some powers? I just dont understand the point of the devs sometimes.
Pool and APP/PPP powers have an extra complication, codewise, in that you don't select them at start and you can change them around.
Someone asked about the Vualt? The confirmed that dead... year ago? -
If you have pay-pal, try going through that. Otherwise, help.ncsoft.com

1) If you resub under your old account, delete your trial characters, especially if you want to reuse the names.
2) Your old account will not have Going Rogue or access to Preatoria - you will need to buy it.
3) To buy online, log into your www.ncsoft.com Account, then hit the Buy Now/NC Store link at the top. Doing it this way will have it auto-apply to your account (either your old one or your new trial account, whichever account younlogged in under). The "complete edition" includes the $7 GR Goofies pack and a months play time, so I recomend that. -

Until 25, there is no conversion rate, as I recall. Until then younstill get full inf in SG mode.

Every power is used in at least one combo, I can tell you that much.
-
Big one is the stairs in the middle, stairs along the side, and half way up the side stairs is the side room with a side room - the first room also has a side room up the center stairs.

You don't even have to have a character with fireball. Either "start" making a new one, and open up the Power details and hover over fireball, or type /l [Fire Ball], click the result, and go to detailed power info.
When they build a power, they basically hit a check box for what defenses that power will check against. They could make a melee-ranged, Psi attack that checks vs. Ranged/Cold defense, if they wanted to.
In fact:
Fireball:
Maul is melee/smashing/negitive
Notice where it says "Attack Types"? That's what defenses that power will check against.
Fireball deals smashing damage based off the concept of concussive damage from the explosion.
