Hide Settings
To the best of my knowledge, the settings are not supposed to carry over from one character to another. However, they do carry over SOMETIMES. Apparently, settings can get 'stuck'.
Paragon City Search And Rescue
The Mentor Project
It was purposely made so the settings were per-character only, by player request. So people could have their "i'm not in a people mood" characters, but not have to worry about resetting on their next character.
But yes, they used to carry over, before the global chat system revamp.
If you worry about it, just start making a macro :
/macro hide hide_all
or if you look up slash commands and their list you can make it hide your just from Global Friends and Global Channels.

So, I log in character A and change my hide settings to Hide from Global Friends and Hide from Global Chat Channels. I log out and log in character B and my previous hide settings are reset so Im not longer hidden. If this is how its supposed to work I just dont see the logic in it. Whats the point of being able to hide from people on your friend lists if you then cant change characters without them seeing that youre logged on? Im wondering if this is a bug because Im pretty sure I remember the settings used to carry over from one character to the next.
