Quote:You may wish to adjust slightly on the claws/ chain. If you place Spin and Shockwave adjacent to one another you can take out one of the re-draws. Re-draw time isn't horrible with claws, but I guess every second counts. Otherwise looks like the right chain to me. Dclaws is /Spin/EF/Shockwave/Burn/BL, with some holes here and there and I do sometimes fill with FU.
I've tried out many different chains, but that is the chain that I naturally settled into, right or wrong. FU does feel like a total waste and I have pretty much abandoned putting it in the main attack chain. Shockwave with EF does well, and is the only way for claws to get a consistent forcefeedback proc.
elec is Fireball(not mu yet)/Thunderstrike/Chain Induction/Jacobs Ladder/Thunderstrike/Chain Induction
Or something really similar to that. Obviously Fiery embrace + lighting rod whenever it is up. Hero stats seems to have a problem recording lightning rod's damage but by looking at "unknown" damage type, it looks like it contributes a huge amount of damage, equal to blazing aura, which directly counters the idea that it only a burst damage mechanism and adds little damage over time.
Had a thought (haven;t looked at the #s), but does Shockwave have enough damage to warrant inclusion in the chain>? -

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but this kind of thing is exactly what I'm trying to change about common melee attitudes on teams. "I'm melee, my build is burly so I MUST BE RIGHT, EVERYONE FOLLOW ME"

Another side to sticking with the team is leading them, if/where applicable. As a melee character, youve got a primary or secondary set dedicated almost entirely to keeping you alive. This is a luxury other ATs dont have. This makes you one of the best people to start a fight and soak the alpha. This applies most if youre a Tanker, but also for the other ATs. There is almost nothing worse than a cowardly Tanker. Chances are youre the toughest person on the team by a not insignificant margin. You should be first into the spawns. Dont be afraid to set the pace.

Quote:Yeah. Sadly, Shockwave is knockback on Brutes regardless of enemy level (well, unless you regularly fight +5/+6!). Brute Archetype has a high knock modifier.I remember reading BillZ talk about shockwave and how it was different for brutes than for scrappers. On his scrappers, Shockwave turned to knockdown when facing +4 enemies, but it was still knockback for his brute.
As Iggy put it "The day I found out, a legion of Claws Brutes hit the shelf." -
Quote:I think its actually higher than that, just from eyeballing some of the rares. Might be interesting to run this experiment for another 20 rolls to see what you can get. I sadly don't have the patience to try myself.I guesstimate I'd be 5%-10% higher than this total if I charged going rate instead of 1. Oh, well!

I mostly play my Corrs on teams (particularly on GOOD teams), but I've been known to PUG it up on my Broots (usually at someone's invitation ... I normally play my Broots when soloing).
I'll be honest, I hear where you're coming from in your commentary on melees running away, but thinking about it from the average melee perspective ... I solo on +3/x8 with my good melee toons, and I generally don't break a sweat while doing it. I always call point on my melee toons (because lets face it, if you're not spawn diving on a Brute, you're doing it wrong).
I guess what I'm getting at is this - your guide's great, but it needs some choice suggestions for how to respond to squishies on bad pug teams that choose not to follow you and then die (because they're not named Silas, amirite?). I'm partial to the classic Nelson voice "HA HA", but a little dry British humor never hurts.
thx! -
Quote:The anti-knockback crowd will never, ever get how good a power shockwave is, even long-time vets.!!!!!!!!!!
Shockwave! It's bloody awesome! Last night, an Op Renault SF netted me levels 32 and 33. I quickly crafted some common IOs for it and wow! I was running -1/x3 comfortably, but now I'm on +0/x5, all because of a slotted Shockwave.
Mitigation in spades and it allows you to position enemies for more inclusive Spin attacks. And it does decent damage! I've seen Claws builds that skipped this power; I cannot imagine why.
Holy crap this brute is fun.
Damage Scale 1.1 in a 90 degree arc to 30 feet? Sign me up!
A lot of Claws advisers say things like "For /invuln, don't take it as it knocks them out of your aura" - same with /wp, but I completely disagree, its mitigation is mind-boggling if you use it right.
I had the same jump on my claws/elec at level 33ish to x5 -
What powers are you taking from /Energy?

I never realized how much you could do in the AE until I read this thread. Amazing stuff.
I leveled my Brute 16 - 41 almost entirely in one mission, with side divergences to grab Invader pre-reqs and to try out other missions discussed here (i.e., the Fire Cybor mission).
I spent some time leveling with someone else who entered the mission at level 1 - absolute best part of it, other than enjoying time with friends - watching the poor guy die, rez, die, rez, etc ... every 20 seconds or so, I'd hear the level up music, followed by SPLAT. Good times. -

Yes, well, men used to kill each other with shard slices of metal until someone came up with gunpowder percussion, then things changed.
<3 Myrmydon, even if I don't fully agree with you on some things
We need to kit you out with a farming Broot, call meh -
Great thread, thank you for posting.
I found myself slowly scrolling down, one by one, saying aloud "DOH!" every time a vendor recipe came up and fist-pumping when a LOTG or Numina rolled by.
I follow different moneymaking methods myself. But this was a lot of fun! -
iMidget:
I don't understand your post.
I viewed the video you're comparing ... the poster was running with bosses (as opposed to your run without), and it clearly showed beginning and ending influence. The poster in question did generate 2.68M in influence per minute.
You, on the other hand, generated 2.5M in influence per minute. And I think you for your pics - informative discussion.
So you basically just proved to everyone out there that yes, SS/Fire/Mu IS better than the build you ran, by a factor of approximately .18M influence per minute. Nice data point to have, thanks for participating in testing.
Quote:So i did the same map you did and I did it in 2:18 seconds from start to end not killing 3 people on 54x8 no bosses, but clearly in my pic you see the influ per minute. but in your vid you can't see influ per minute and your run no matter how you time it took longer than 2:18 and your saying that you got 2.68M a minute? So your doubting my numbers? why dont you show a pic of some of your numbers?
Where are these screen shots?
And yet again, make up some excuses to show that you can farm better but you wont cause it's a waste of your time? Hey guys, did you know I can farm any map in less than 1 minute with my stone/ice tanker. but i'll never provide proof, cause it's a waste of my time and to show that I can is childish.
Also what's the title of this forum page? Very Best farmer? I would think saying SS/fire/mu is not the best would be the point of this, maybe we should talk about pvp. -
Love the pic with the "Impossible ..." bit.
Awesome. -
Quote:Yeah, I figured there was a communication issue on the subject of clearing fire farms. I assumed it meant "Kill the ambushes, click glowie, profit" - but if someone is clearing a less efficient farm, that would make comparisons problematic. thx1 billion? That's small potatoes. Make it 10 billions, with a trusted third party (to whom we'd both give 10 billions before agreeing to the bet, as to make sure the loser doesn't back out) and a set of rules laid out in the open, and I might consider taking that bet.
@Rad- Personally, I don't give a damn about tickets, so my definition of clearing would be "kill all 6 ambushes and the groups near them, click glowie". Basically just the first room, as showed in my vids above.
I will say that I took a look at those "fire cyborg" farms (I don't do PUG farms), and it seems rather poor. I picked the top one and highest rated, and it starts with the wrong map layout - abandoned tech lab, which is performance heavy, with double doors making you lose time and ambushes split onto three different objects/hostages rather than two. It doesn't work well and I can see this map taking closer to 4 minutes, due to the sheer inefficiency of it all. If all "fire cyborg" farms are like this one, I wouldn't accept a 3 minutes bet on these. Farming on a weak map is as slow as farming on a weak build.
I've always used the Fire Invasion map personally, which is short, sweet and to the point. Love those little pyro baddies. -
If you guys don't mind me asking - is the standard definition of clearing / doing a fire map "hitting ticket cap"?
-
Nice enhancement table, big spender

If you don't mind my asking ... looks like your damage is from Electric Fences + Pets? I hear (anecdotally only) that Elec's damage is low, but must not be the case?

Quote:In this case, AT mattersWait wait wait ....
Are you saying (Werner and others) that
FU-Evis-Slash
is going to do better DPS than
FU-Focus-Slash
at less recharge?
And this requires the Glad Armor -RES in Evis and what n slash (maintain the -RES achilles)?
Or that the chain should be FU-Evis-Focus?
This is news to me. I just busted my chops to get enough recharge to run FU-Focus-Slash on my brute (see Pylon thread near the last posts).
Claws Brutes don't get the bonus +15% chance for a crit that Eviscerate has

Quote:Wow, serious blast from the past! Was wondering if The Elements SG was still active?
If so, looking to contact leadership to talk about an invite. It's been awhile since I ran on Champion. After a long break, decided to try out Issue 19 and love all the changes. I started a new SG on Freedom, but am missing Champion lately.
Some of you may remember me as Typhoon, founder of The Elements. It would be nice to play with some old friends and maybe even get into my old SG if possible.
Any info appreciated. -
Quote:Nice!I'll throw mine out:
I retired from my first sg after I planned on getting married. So I left access to the sg site I created and paid for, to remaining active leaders, and one of them decided to remove me and my wife's name and any mention we had existed along with access, though I was continuing to pay for the site, lol. I used my wife's access, booted them, miffed a bit on those forums, end of story.
