Yes. The woman who tried to have you killed, whether you were resistanc eor not, she's a bastion of hope for the society, isn't she?

If she wanted to do things the right way, she would have talked to you, explained the situation and let you decide 'Hey these resistance arn't so bad, maybe they do want to help?'

But no! She thought you were a risk and sent you to die and afterwards, when you come with Washington she tries to win you over with 'we stopped a bombing!', which Washington would have wanted to happen anyways, the man who didn't try to deceive you, who didn't lie who admits the flaws of the government, but the requirement to quell the resistance first, for thier mass murders.

Cleo did it wrong and she should have to pay. Even Scott said, if you called in, you should kill her, because she was being an idiot, she was harming the integrity of the resistance AND yourself.

Cleo is not a hero, she is a villain, she manipulated you and then, rather than giving you a chance to see her side, tries to send you to your death. Her death is justified, Washington's is not.

    A Question on RP

Might be true, but I know there are more RP community than just Virtue. I had gotten a response from someone on protector in PMs and am considering to roll a toon on it to see the RP community there. Virtue has gotten kind of stale for me over the years, as there are big names that are noticeable, nowdays, for me and I don't mind migrating a character to somewhere else as protector or Liberty or where ever to see some new faces I probably wouldn't run into on the Virtue Forums. No to mention, suggestions about RP isn't linked to a single server. Some people may not RP in CoX, but may play RP in a chat program or forums and those are also legitimate in giving answers to the question of bringing yourself into active RP.

    A Question on RP

I thank you two for giving your input. And I can see where you're coming from. I am a bit surprised, though, there arn't many replies to this. I figured it'd be a good topic for discussion, but seems I may be wrong. I will try to integrate what you two said into my RP-finding strategies, despite, in honesty, it's not that different than when I started.

One question, though. I have severe alt-itis, and am wondering how I should handle that for RP? I try to have 3-6 active RP characters with 20+ that are on reserve, but I occasionally bring out. Should I try limiting it to JUST one for RP purposes or is it possible to bring that many in the activity of several other groups ?(As I am not a fan of having alts in SGs with another character of mine.)

    A Question on RP

I thank you for your input and I figured as much in the ways of requiring myself to do more searching OOCly, but I have to admit that I didn't do so much as plan IC meeting, rather than them 'hearing' about someone and searchign the person or group out 'eventually' finding them and joining them, despite myself, OOCly, not knowing a great amount of thier IC antics. I think your method may be better, as I can be unaffiliated with a group (Mainly speaking of SGs) while still being involved to see if this group is REALLY for me, because I know, sometimes, I would join a group, be with them for a month or several and find out 'this isn't really working out', but feel guilty with the idea of leaving.

In what you say of journal and updated accounts of what my characters do, I have kept up a virtueverse for a while and even posted a few of my characters on the 'Looking for Contact', but I don't really think people look at that. I have been trying to find a group of people, or even a single person, for example, to make an alien creature of mind, that is only really interested in advancing thier species and preparing for an invasion change face, see Earth as SO VASTLY DIFFERENT than his origin and rather protect it than see it destroyed. (I had this character before GR for a few months, figuing 'I'll find a few people for such a story line'.) However, I have not found anyone to take the offer of this character development despite using VirtueVerse's looking for contact, Posting in the forums a few months ago and making not of it every-so-often in the RP-Global channels. This is just an xample of a story, for one of my characters, i really wanted, but never got off the ground.

Don't take the example of me wanting to develop one of my characters, though, as me wanting it to ONLY be about my characters. I have seen some interesting story lines done by other people and was involved in it, for a bit, back in the day. (A couple years ago, that is.) But lately, it has been harder and harder for me to penetrate the protective layer a lot of RPers and RP-groups have and it has gotten me a bit frustrated. Even when I was in a group and tried to be an active member/organizer for IC missions and such, it was often ignored, even if it had no huge story-line attached to things and it just confuses me.

Thank you for your wishes of luck and I welcome any response to what I said here, from you or any others as well, to help give me a better understanding of the community and trying to intigrate myself into it.

    A Question on RP

Hello, everyone. I am an RPer, have been for several years, but after finding another thread, I realized a big weakness I have, especially in CoX, that I want to get advice on fixing.

So, I am asking the other Roleplayers here in City of Heroes/Villains, how do I go about integrating my character into the game? I don't mean 'how do I build a backstory that fits CoX lore'. I mean, how do I get involved with other roleplayers to get together for stories, adventures and opposition? What I am used to, having grown up on Yahoo Chat Room Roleplay, when they were more active and allowed custom rooms, was to act as an adventurer, a worker or some other person that would be in a certain area, at a certain time when events and other people came along. In City of Heroes, it is harder to get roleplay outside of SGs or the D and this is a problem for me.

In SGs, I can't really join any unless I focus my efforts OOC, especially now-days when I see a group of people in the same SG that was noted as being an RP SG, if they are in teams, they remain OOC while picking up others from the outside or are in the D, where most people don't take note if someone wants to join that particular group. (Or in the case of some characters, ones that WOULD be interested ina group, but never sets foot inside the D.)

In the D itself, that is there for casual events. People arn't supposed to be fighting there, there isn't meant to be as much tension as it is supposed to be a place to unwind. Sure there are some more serious events there, as it can be a good meeting place for others, however, when groups are doing such an event, they tend to ignore others there questioning what is happening. (As some times I would try to get involved, but most people would push back OOC, mostly, or ICly, occasionally, to keep my outsider from getting involved.)

So, people. I have to ask, HOW do I get my character involved with these adventures and storied in CoX? Am I doomed to have to join OOCly, first, and have my character be a part of a group they 'heard about passingly'? Is there a way to get more involved ICly, especially without the requirement of setting foot in the D? I am genuinely looking for help in improving this aspect of myself, so any advice is welcome and any discussion outside of myself and the others directly answering my question is helpful as well, as it can help with getting an idea of how others feel similarly or differently on this subject.

    With love,
    Me! <3

  7. Moving to a different board
  8. My strength is being able to take any action against my character IC. I am immersive and if something happens to my character, even if I don't like it, it happens. (Given there is a reason. If someone randomly comes by and kills my character with a super omega fireball of death that is ignored.)

My weaknes is me having trouble intigrating characters into RP. I have trouble meeting other RPers and BEGINNING something. If they, my characters, are locked together in an RP already, I'm fine, but getting the ball rolling is very difficult for me, no matter the character.

Edit: Actually, I am going to make a thread to see if I can get advice to fix my weakness, now.
  9. Not sure if this was said, but change 'Breath of Fire' and 'Fire Breath' So you could eminate from your hands, like a flame thrower.
  10. Okay, thanks for that information. I was about to twitch and frown greatly if you had to ALWAYS buy them. But still, NOW my question changes to: Are Alignment Merits worth it to BUY?

Okay, I was confused there, as I bought one prior to doing the Reaffirming Alignment. So you only have to reaffirm once, on any given character and when you do you get 50 Reward merits, then any time after you get an A-Merit, granted it's the same alignment? Also do you have to BUY an A-Merit with the 50 you get from the mission, or do you just have to do the mission once?
  12. Okay a little backstory:

I had originally heard that Alignment Merits were purchasable for 20 Reward Merits, 100 Vanguard Merits and 10Mil influence and they could only be bought once every 20 hours. I understand it and it seemed worth it for what was buyable. I went, finally, checked about buying one on my hero and I see they are worth 50 Reward Merits and 20Mil. See, that doesn't seem worth it to me. i was kind of desperate for one specific reward, though, where I either got two alignment Merits or 250 Reward Merits and just bought one, figuring I can get an Alignment Merit through the missions.

To my understanding, you reinforce your alignment (Hero or Villain) and you just got an Alignment Merit. I did this and what did I get? 50 Reward Merits. I looked at them and was like "What is THIS crap?" I have to spend 20Mil to get an Alignment Merit despite reinforcing my alignment. It doesn't seem worth it.

Sure, you could spend 50 merits and 20mil inf to get 4 (or was it 5?) random rolls, where you could get 2.5 random rolls PLUS can buy some specific sets on the market for under 20mil that you want. You could get a specific item for 1 or 2, depending, where it doesn't seem worth it to lose 5 random rolls and 40mil for the item in question. And if you saved for a purple? That would be 400mil inf PLUS 12.5 random rolls, you may as well purchase purples for the market. (According to my loose calculations).

My question is this, now: Since you have to 'Buy' Alignment Merits, even if you do Reinforcing Alignment missions... Are they WORTH it?

  13. In my opinion, instances like that are easy to tell whethe rthey're OOC or IC. If you feel you are being harassed OOC, then use your judgement, chances are you are right. Some people make 'themselves' in the game, though, and that makes things worse, as they can take things, personally, OOC if you say something IC, because there's little-to-no dividing line for them since they are, effectively, playing themselves. I don't like these people, initially, as it's weird for me. But, as I said, use your better judgement.

    All XXX ITF

All VEAT ITF... Did this once... It was a glorious sight to behold.
  15. I'd have to counter this with an idea of PvP... My SoA is a loyalist to the isles and is in Arachnos as a Military Woman. She beleives it is meant to protect and serve and people taking them out specifically? I'd have to say we gather some loyalists that beleive Arachnos is doing good, even if the leaders should be replaced, to counter this act of 'terrorism'. XD

    RP spots?

    I have to agree here.

    RP spots?

As usual, I have to defend Pocket D against the attacks many people seem to throw. It isn't THAt bad. i go there frequently, I have NEVER, NOT ONCE seen any ERP go on. People with the tgs, sure, but then people could be smart/polite and do so in tells or in team. And if so, why be bothered about it?

Anyways, I have noticed RP is really restricted to SGs, nowdays, if not in Atlas or the D. if you want, though, you can always try to get an RP team up through using globals like RP Virtue, as several people never really get the chance to RP some of thier characters that don't have an SG, or wouldn't just hang out around the D. ESPECIALLY, when they have a secret identity hero/villain ad want to play as thier counter-part.

A big thing, though, is most of the 'good' and 'polite' RPers come out of the woodworks from 10pm (EST) on until 10am (EST). I have noticed otherwise it becomes a bit more questionable and, of course, some idiots sprout up between those times, from time to time, this mainly focusing in Pocket D as a hotspot.

Don't know if that helps, but take whateer advice you want.

The general atmosphere of Pocket D as a virtual gathering spot for like-minded players depends heavily on the time of day. Sadly, a lot of people can only play there at the "bad hours", whatever your definition of "bad" is. For me, I think it becomes a lot more tolerable late at nights.

Honestly though, I think part of the reason is that it's summer and schools are out. Just give it a few months. Take that as you wish!
I'm talking about the players, more than the characters. Some characters are bad, but some players are intolerable.
  19. Quinz

    Why?

Honestly, Pocket D seems to fluctuate on the time of day. It can be filled with idiots or filled with the most mature, amazing people ever. Generalizations of the D used to make me mad, because a lot of people say 'It's evil, and has bad RPers or sex in every corner' and I'm like 'what?' I had a large discussion with several people and, eventually, found out the reason. The day. The times I RP in the day are not the times MOST people that make these complaints about the RP, whether because they can't or refuse to. Virtue is a generally good community, it has some hate, as any society. But, depending on the Time of Day, it can mutate into a riverflow of lava or a light stream you can casually float down, just check out different times and see when you are comfortable with the people. All I can suggest.

  20. I agree there needs to be a 'wish skin' option for the organic armor. I like the bioluminate as is, but if people want the more 'normal' skin and face, I say try to get it to them... As long as you keep the peices like they are now, as well. I really like the creepy face of it, and would be sad if it goes away.

Also, I'm echoing my saying of you all REALLY need to put in some new tech to allow things like the Bioluminate, Reptile, Monsterous Fur, Insectoid, etc to be able to have the 'tights' option over it. I mean. i know I will use the bioluminate as the 'skin' of ne of my characters, but am sad she won't be able to get a tank top, or bikini or anything, knowing I'll need to settle with the 'shirts' option.

I'm not really making demands here. Just asking.
And to be a bit of an SOB, maybe link the two together somehow? Whether having the them different parts, as well, or linking together. may be too much to ask, but thought I might as well. X3

Edit: By that I mean, what i was saying earlier. I want the Bioluminate stuff to, somehow, get the Organic Armor attached to it, as I think it would look wicked cool that way.
  22. I was fiddling around the costume options and realized something... the Organic Armor should be an overlay, not the focus of the set. this way it can go over tights, or clothes or even the bioluminate set for a different look. Be able to combine them, somehow. I really, really think with this stuff, it would be better after having made tech that allows greater layers. (Plus, I would love to have the Organic Armor peices over the Bioluminate set.)
  23. Subjective: I suggest after the Energy Morph change a slower raising up. It would be more dramatic, not sure if people would like that, though. Just my own opinion.
  24. Objective Feedback: All seem to be working, except, as said before, the tails appear to be missing. If there is also supposed to be boluminate wings, that is missing as well.

Subjective Feedback: I would like to request that Bioluminate set be compatible with other top with skin options. If it is possible, with this option, more than any other, would be a good time to add a 3rd color option and enable a layer, so that you can still get the bio-glow and colors, but also allow different topes, like T-Shirt, Tanker, Tank Top, and various other things. I am serious here. This might also help people be able to use other things like the bio organic, reptile, and other skin-like options to be overlayered with actual clothes.

Admittedly I would buy this pack just because the bioluminate costume peices fits, very well, with a concept I have just recently made.

The reason I was doing S/L defense was because of the Ice Armor already gives me a major head start on capping s/l and many high end enemies use S/L, like Nemesis, Malta, Freakshow, Cimerorans, some Rikti, Many of the alternate dimension enemies. In fact only ones that I can think of that don't have a s/l component high levels are things like sappers, boss carnies, a majority of Rikti and the Praetorian Shadows and Mentalists (From Mother Mayhem).

I will try an alternate build, though, seeing what I can do with changing the slots out of Stamina and placing them in Weave, as suggested and a secondary build focusing on ranged defense.
