  1. Don't see why not. Might be useful for "reinventing" concept characters - i.e. character A has been stripped of his powers or mutated or whatnot and became a different powerset/archetype character {i.e. a freshly rolled one}. The badges could still be the trophies of his achievements in his earlier career.
  2. Okay, minor rant ahead.

    I team. A lot. A whole lot. A whole effin' lot. In fact, the only times I'm not teaming is when I'm clearing hunt missions. So, of course, I open up the search window, filter by missions and any team flags and fire off the form invite to the prospective teammates. Standard package, "team of this level, running missions, want to join us?", flavored according to the character I'm playing at the moment.

    And, y'know, I'd assume that if someone goes through the trouble of setting their LFT flag that they're actually looking for a team. Instead, half the tells don't get a response, and half of those that do are along the lines of "not right now", "I'm busy ATM", "in a SG meeting" and so on. The latter I can understand - you leave the flag on by accident, it happens. And completely lacking any information from those who don't answer the tells at all, I can only speculate.

    My point is... is there a point to searching by LFT flags anymore? I get about the same success rate from asking non-teamed people who aren't flagged as searching for a team as those who ostensibly are. At least there's more of them.
  3. I agree, Fawlty is a fairly good arc. I'd really suggest running Agent G's missions too, though - they put a perfect capper on the whole arc.

    Also, AV three-way.
  4. Just to add a bit to the subject, there could also be influence sinks that scale to the player's level in form of temporary powers sold at the auction house - utility powers such as Recall or Stealth, with limited charges or usage time, or even expiring after a certain time since purchase.

    On the whole, though, yeah, I agree something should be done about the inflation.
  5. As things stand, the free server transfers can be used as a limited renaming tools, so that would be another income stream shot.

    It'd be nice, but I don't really see it happening.
  6. As the title says - add an option where, instead of absolute numbers, the damage/healing numbers are replaced by percentages of total hitpoint values. Floating numbers as they are now lack context, as while you do know how much damage your last attack did, you don't know how many hit points that particular enemy had to begin with*. Thus, being shown just how big a chunk of health your or your teammates' attacks did might be more informative than a seemingly arbitrary number.

    For example, you hit an enemy with 200HP total with an attack that does 67HP damage - instead of a red "67", the attack shows "34%" {round up the value to the nearest integer - decimal points might just needlessly add to screen clutter}

    Another example, if you heal someone teammate with 60HP for 1000HP, the game will display a green 1666% - the values would not be bracketed to any upper limit, so if you one-shot an enemy, the numbers would display just how devastating that attack was.

    What does everyone think? Did I miss anything?
  7. Hmm, point, Warshades already have Recall. {fixes original post to clarify}
  8. What the title says. Recall Friend is one of the most team-useful utility powers in the game, and I really can't think of a reason why it shouldn't be available to the glittersquids.

    Am I missing anything here?
  9. Yes, that should work.

    For the on-the-fly targeters, try this

    /bind alt+g beginchat /bind g target_custom_next enemy alive
    {replace g as necessary}

    Pressing alt+g will present you with the whole target_custom bind into which you just need to add the (partial) name of the enemy, which you can cycle through using the g key. Especially useful if you need to quickly pick out a sorcerer, shaman or something else without having to constantly type in the entire bind command.
  10. Like I said, the ability to prune inactive accounts would be nice, but probably much more complicated to implement. This is more of a quick-and-dirty solution to the problem.
  11. Been there, played that. It's still very sketchy, especially compared to groups like the Circle of Thorns or even the Outcasts.
  12. What it says in the title. For those who don't know, global channels have a capacity of 2500 members. Now, while that might sound like much and more than enough for whatever you have in mind, keep in mind that it's the limit of total joined members, whether or not they are online or even still subscribed. Thus, a global can quickly be filled with players who play infrequently or no longer at all and lacking means to flush inactive players, it will can hit capacity even if only a handful of channel's members are still active.

    I'm suggesting a straightforward capacity increase because it sounds like the simplest solution - the ability to prune inactive members would be nice, but that would involve inventing and implementing functionality to do so, while the current limit seems like it might have been determined due to hardware resources available at the time or was just an arbitrary number that didn't expect the game to grow quite so much over the years.

    In any case, doing away with the low channel capacities would;
    1. help alleviate the stress of constant channel migrations due to hitting the member cap
    2. help welcome returning players, as as things stand at the moment, any active global channels they might have joined migrated in the meantime
    3. facilitate cross-server communication, especially in terms of teaming, task forces, raids, contests and similar activities
    So, standard code rant aside, can anyone think of downsides to increasing global channel capacities to five or even ten thousand members, or even high enough a number that "capacity" is a hypothetical concept entirely?
  13. {rejected thread title: "let's talk about Panties"}

    As the title says, tell me about the Pantheon. There's not much known about them, at least blueside, other than their agenda and origins. What about their organization? Where do they get their recruits? Where do the corrupt spirits come from? Who gives them orders? Is there any canon fiction written about them? On the whole, at least from what I can find, they're pretty undeveloped as a group, so what tidbits do we know about them?

    On that note, the glowies in the Cavern of Transcendence trial have an extremely long click range.

  16. I'm not sure if this would fall under the "no reworking old content" and slash or "more trouble than it's worth", but back-loaded/ramp-up mission pacing should be reset to flat in all canon missions. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been and likely never will be any advantage of fighting green-conning over white-conning enemies in any mission, especially if they finally do grow into even-cons at about the last third of the map.
  17. What it says on the title. I'm still not sure why Rest has such a draconian recharge rate. At low levels, it's the only reliable means of recovering your health and endurance and both the long activation time and total survivability impact already ensure it can't be used inside combat itself. The only effect the current recharge rate has is needlessly increasing downtime between battles.

    What's the general opinion? Shouldn't Rest get some love?
  18. Well, the whole rental justification is kinda in trouble since you can "rent" them for arena matches. I'm not so sure about the gameplay ramifications, though.

    Two hours, actually, same as the safeguard reward.
  20. There's always something new.
  21. Have you considered exchanging the self-damage for a maxHP percentile drop? That way you're not taking damage from the power itself, but any damage the enemies hit you will make itself felt.
  22. And clouds of Nictus fluff.
  23. Running it without a hitch on 7 RC, with no compatibility mode needed.

    It's a bit more complicated than that. TA's network doesn't help as much as you'd expect because, being superhero fare, most of the art is actiony while I have a much more relaxed setting in mind, so I have no idea how well any given artist would do. Also, while I don't specifically need to commission an artist who's already done CoH-themed art, I'm guessing it would help if they were already familiar with the subject matter - they might think of ways to improve the picture, whether in terms of posing, composition or detail which I wouldn't.
  25. So, it's the end of the year and I figured I'd treat myself with some art of one of my characters. Problem seems to be finding an artist I'm willing to commission; I've been looking through DeviantArt, but so far all quality City of Heroes fanart I've found is either a} too animesque, b} too comic-booky or c} porn. I'm looking for a style similar to Andrea Koupal's {who's, unfortunately, not taking commissions at the moment}, but while I'm searching, does anyone have a recommendation for me?
