Tell me about: the Banished Pantheon

{rejected thread title: "let's talk about Panties"}

As the title says, tell me about the Pantheon. There's not much known about them, at least blueside, other than their agenda and origins. What about their organization? Where do they get their recruits? Where do the corrupt spirits come from? Who gives them orders? Is there any canon fiction written about them? On the whole, at least from what I can find, they're pretty undeveloped as a group, so what tidbits do we know about them?

Been there, played that. It's still very sketchy, especially compared to groups like the Circle of Thorns or even the Outcasts.

It's pretty much intentionally sketchy, and Unfortunately, or fortunately, all the information on the Ban Pan is pretty much found in those two articles. If you're looking for answers on why they took over Astoria, why they are on Striga, and why they have a presence on Sharkhead... sorry, but there's no reasons available. If you want to know how the Banished Ones found Adamastor and brought him to Dark Astoria... sorry, no information is available.

The presumption on the part of many players is that Astoria is going to be revamped in a future issue, and that a task force will be introduced pitting the players against the Pantheon itself. Supposedly this future Task Force will answer the questions surrounding the Pantheon, including why they took over Dark Astoria and what's up with Adamastor.

The implementation of Barracuda / Dr. Kahn also gave rise to the rumor that there will be a Villain Strike Force in which villains will use Ourobous to locate Adamastor for the Banished Ones, and that it's the villains who unleased Adamastor upon Paragon by traveling through time.

Okay, if your head hurts after that, it's no weirder than Heroes being responsible for helping the Center over-throw the 5th Column.

Anyways, if you read the plaques in DA, some of the plaques reference Spanky Rabinowitz and his connections with the Banished Pantheon: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Spanky

It would not surprise me that if the developers choose to pursue the Story of Dark Astoria and the Banished Ones that players will end up fighting Mayor Spanky.

Um, from what I recall of the lowbie stuff, Snakes don't belong on that list.

Unless you mean to take "citizens of paragon" literally and not include the Rogue Isles for a Villain-only group.

I'm having to scratch my head on the snakes bit. They've been linked to the Children of Enos and the Mu, but their origin has never been answered fully in the game: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Snakes

Might want to read up on Operative Grillo's arcs on the origin of snakes; Ancient History and Snake Fest:

They belong on the list. The list is of factions that don't recruit. Snakes don't recruit they reproduce.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Little extra information though - have to find the source again - has Adamastor initially from the African coast. The BP's gods were also from the region.

DA's presence - this I seem to recall being the old Prima guide, but where they got *their* backstory info from I couldn't say. They're drawn to it because of a god even older than they are, whose power they want to tap (I want to say it's Mot.) While heroes were distracted with the Rikti, they fired off a ritual which sacrificed ... well, everyone in DA. DA got walled up because they couldn't deal with it at the time.

Whether Mot is "The Sleeper" the COT keep referring to keeping bound, we don't know.

There's an interesting repetition on the theme of divinity in CoH. The Banished Pantheon worships and tries to restore gods that have been banished, Statesman and Recluse are avatars of Greek gods and titans, the Rikti are genocidally anti-religious, the Circle of Thorns and the Descendents of Mu enlisted various divine(infernal?) creatures in their war, and the Shadow Shard may be the mind of a broken god.

www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

It helps to be a polytheist in Paragon.
