  1. Of course, my dad doesn't want my mom to cook, preferring to go eating out. She wants to cook!

Of course, my dad wanting to eat out is like breathing - if he's not doing it, something is wrong.

  3. I would totally open up a massage/chiropractic office. With so many women having ginourmous back-breakers and heels? I'd be raking in the cash PLUS there'd always be heroines in the office so I'd never get robbed.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving!

Massively had a "what are you thankful for in MMO's," so of course I had to chime in...

I'm quite thankful for the friends I've made - the gaming, the conversations, the fun memories and crazy characters. I even got a Flat Stanley from one of my SG mates in City of Heroes, and got to show Stanley around, taking pictures, before sending him back to Massachusetts with a letter. Turns out Stanley had even got to visit one of my other SG mates in Seattle!

    So, yes, definitely the friends
^_^ yay nice people in COH
  6. I was leaving it a bit vague deliberately, actually.
  7. Just something I was wondering about. I've not been in comics for years, so I really am not sure about this. Anyhow, every knows the AAA-heroes... Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc. But I was wondering who the second-tier ones were, what they're like, etc? You know - they're pretty good/awesome but maybe don't have the personality/appeal to be major stars/titles and thus don't get brought out that often, or can't carry a full title by themselves so are usually a part of teams and such.

I'd go check my friendly local comic shop except it closed down a few years ago

Main reason I'm asking is I've got a new alt and trying to figure out how to style him. I figure he's always going to behind my mains, so what the heck, right?

A1) Starting at 9:00AM EST, on November 29th, 2010 through 11:59PM EST, December 13th, 2010, log into your NCsoft account management page. There will be a clickable banner ad promoting this opportunity. If you click on it, it will take you to a page where you can change your payment plan without cancelling your account.
So, as someone who began an annual subscription in September, I can change to this? Or does that mean I'd be buying another year in addition to the year I already paid for? I'm not 100% clear on this
  9. I just subscribed annually in August. I'm tempted to go for this special, but am not sure... hrm.

Could be done in April, with the badges all being flower related (April showers bring May flowers - is that how it goes?).
  11. (QR) I can't help but wonder about increased system requirements. That's pretty important in my opinion the you run the risk of losing players due to rising system requirements. Given normal life, nevermind the economy, not everyone will have the money to "omg get a real computer," you know? Plus lets not forget that laptops (which are outselling desktops, right?) generally have stinky GPUs.

  13. Understood and appreciated. I've actually got a few friends who regular on Khelds plus a bunch (including myself) with Doms. I'm glad you're opting to wait rather than release now with problems or roll-back later. I really, REALLY appreciate that - roll backs are ugly and could cause other issues

I support your decision and I'm glad that the powers that be are allowing you to do this. I think we can all think of games where the developer wanted to do something but the publisher/management forced them to do something less than ideal or even questionable. As such, I feel that much better about Paragon Studios and NCSoft as well as the money I've spent with you wonderful folks over the years.

Enjoy Turkey Day and the Black Friday sales if you dare brave them!
  14. Thank you!

Yeah - end is not fun. Right now I typically keep Dark Embrace, Murky Cloud and Obsidian shield running in a fight, with Dark Regeneration and Darkest Night being the two things that make my endurance drain super fast. Thank goodness for Cardiac @_@

    Teleport Foe

I'd point out that with TP foe then its less likely you'll get an enemy who cannot be attacked due to being stuck in the map walls. Hazards if you ever attack or team with someone with knockback powers.
  16. I'll have to agree with the Exemplaring reasons. My level 50 blaster is primarily slotted with level 25 IOs in order for him to have a wide range of exeplared goodness. Worth noting something that Catwhoorg pointed out to me:

My old thread with exemplaring questions...
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=190479

The wiki I got pointed to...
    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Exemplar...n_Enhancements

    Quote:
For exemping down to level 20 consider frankenslotting level 25 Dual-Aspect IOs, level 43 Tri-Aspect IOs, and level 50 Quad-Aspect IOs. This is due to the minor bonus threshold (anything at 20% or below is unaffected by exemping to 21)

Taking a ranged attack and slotting:
    Quote:
    Ruin - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge: Level 40
    Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 50
    Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43
    Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance: Level 43
    Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 43
    Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43

gives a total bonus of: 93.18% Accuracy, 93.57% Damage, 76.8% Endurance Reduction and 93.18% Recharge Reduction at full effect from level 21 to 50.
I found that to be compelling enough to change the way I slotted entirely, and is the best slotting advice I've ever gotten for my playstyle. Your mileage may vary and all that.

Additionally, if you're going to have a low-level proc then adding in one or two more from the set to get a bonus isn't horrible. Additionally, the IO system seems forgiving (in my opinion) of "inoptimal" slotting since you can get more than enhancement bonus out of your slots than you can with regular enhancements. So you have 2 or 3 slots tied up with low IO's? Just slot another higher-level batch of them be it Set or Common. It'll work out.

The biggest thing is that the game isn't centered around IO's, so we've got a good amount of leeway to do things.
  17. Most of my characters, to be honest. Respec'ing is a pain, and while the extra powers would be nice I'm not finding it to be a compelling enough reason on most of my characters to find it worth the trouble.
  18. Here's my cute and cuddly level 50 Energy Melee/Dark Brute. Specs from Titan Sentinal, usable in Mids.

Right now I'm looking at two possible things:

    1. Path of least resistance - spruce up the slotting without a respec.
    2. Path of "arg" - redo his entire build.

I overall like the way he plays, favoring rate of attack over pure damage, letting Fury make up the difference. Generally speaking +0/x1 he's fine, and I can generally play +0/x2 fine although it is more challenging! His attack chain feels pretty solid to me overall, and I like the way he "feels."

Tentatively speaking I plan to get the Endurance Alpha Boost when i19 hits.

What are some possible optimizations I can go for to improve his performance while not making any massive changes? Right now most of his slotting is centered around being Exemplar friendly and honestly that's something I really want to keep. I'm not overly interested in chasing after expensive sets and Purples, nor being utterly min/maxed. Just want a little more oomph, you know? If he could handle +1/x2 or +0/x3 that'd be nothing short of awesome, but really all I want is to be able to better handle +0/x2 better.

If I can avoid a respec, that'd be nothing short of GLEEE.
  19. Worth noting - some folks who got Going Rogue bought it before the box came out. So I wonder how much we contributed? After all, NCSoft should've made more money off of us than off of retail box sales. I've heard wholesale can be 1/2 of retail price sometimes? Plus no distributor's cut, month worth of gametime, printing and shipping, GR goodie pack, etc.

    *random mental meandering*
  20. It might fun being level 50+ or even 50++

So we'd be like the enemies then? A level 50 underling is blue/-1, minion is equal/+0, liet is yellow/+1, boss is orange/+2, elite boss red/+3 and an AV purple/+4? Sounds fun to me.
  21. Thank you very much! This is pretty much my first time messing with such things, so its all pretty cool to me!
  22. Got it on the second try (first time ever having anything resembling an issue with the NCStore) - will fiddle with it more later but pleased
  23. Good thing we're getting a third build with this!

As a more casual player I have to say the idea of getting free enhancement to most of my powers is highly appealing. While I'm not sure how I'll use it, the possibilities are exciting and I'm certainly not a min/maxer by any stretch of the imagination.

I've got two (and pretty much only two) characters I play to involve in the Incarnate system at this time - a blaster and a brute.

    * Do I address a possible weakness in their build? The Brute, even after all his IO bonuses and such still consumes End very quickly so the common Cardiac (end redux) might be a great thing to slot.

    * Do I address a strength? My blaster and brute both are both favor recharge (enhancements and IO bonuses), so Muscleture (damage) and Spiritual (recharge) would both make them more capable of putting out high amounts of damage.

    * Do I create opportunities? Both have common IO's in their builds, so if I use the Alpha boost in place of an enhancement, I can shuffle those slots around or slot for something else. This would require using a different build that's optimized for running at 50 but it could be awesome

What's nice is no matter what I do it will still be a nice boost for my character, and if I want, it can be a great boost...

I kind of wonder, though, if there's some sort of bell curve in terms of who will get what out of it... someone with a highly specialized slotting setup would have a lot less flexibility than someone with normal enhancements. Likewise, someone who's willing to respec will get more out of it than someone who's not.

Well, I think its partially that and partially that you don't have to choose a side and its content exclusively. I'm curious to know how many of which AT went to which side, you know? So, pick a Praetorian, go whichever way you want with any AT, and end up wherever you want. Also, both factions have paths that can have appeal to players regardless of them wanting to have a good guy or bad guy.

Simply put, I know players who didn't roll villain AT's because they don't want to play the villain content - either they didn't like it, or didn't want to play a villain.
